Löwenbräukeller - Das Original in München

The musicians are nice and friendly. The food is good but the service was lax. We wanted to order he told us he will come to us in a moment after 20 minutes we asked again he told us he will come in a minute after 30 minutes we asked again he told us the same as before until he came to pick up our order. In total we waited an hour for him to come and take our order.

Food and atmosphere is really good for a hangout with friends or a team outing, good food options and a lot of good beer!

Even for a Bavarian inn, the service was so unfriendly that it wasn't any fun. And if you're going to be unfriendly then you at least have to be quick but that didn't work either.

Löwenbrau is said to be one of the top three breweries in Munich, Germany. It is a bit far on foot from Munich Central Station, but it is not difficult to find as it is located at the corner of a major street intersection. First of all, the service part... . There are reviews saying that the staff is unfriendly and that they have experienced racial discrimination, but it's case by case. From what I personally experienced, there was no racism or unfriendliness, but the staff kept trying to encourage me to order more food, which made me feel uncomfortable. We ordered an appropriate amount for two people, but they kept pressuring us if the quantity was not enough. In fact, there was a lot left over. First of all, the portion was large, but the taste was so-so. The sausages were so salty that it was difficult to eat two. I ordered a lager and a dark beer, but it was clear and had less carbonation, so I personally thought it was so-so. Is dark beer better than lager? I additionally ordered the more expensive premium Pils beer, which was more bitter and carbonated, so it suited my taste better. Don't expect much from the food, but it would be a good idea to go there with the mindset of experiencing Munich's signature beer taste. Tips should be paid in proportion to the service received. The staff made me feel so uncomfortable that I left my food and skipped the tip.

First of all, the staff's attitude is the worst. I've traveled to dozens of countries and never felt so sick. At this point, I can't give it more than 3 stars. I ate Schweinshachsen, which is said to be a specialty of Munich, but it wasn't delicious at all. Japanese braised pork is 1000 times more delicious. Only beer tastes good. When I asked for the bill, I had to wait 30 minutes. When I asked for a copy of the receipt, he gruffly threw it at me and handed it to me. The atmosphere in the hall is good, so I'm sure the owner is good, but the staff are the worst.

Over charged us €40 and wouldn’t provide an itemised receipt. Staff were rude. The building was beautiful, the food and beer were, great only let down by the service.

Nice setting OK food but terrible, unwelcoming service. The waiter couldn't have been less bothered and his attitude was quite frankly rude. I did complain to management and they didn't seem surprised by my feedback. Reading the other negative reviews I'm not that surprised.

Unmissable Munich brasserie. The dishes are worthy of a brasserie, the beer is good and the atmosphere is reminiscent of Oktoberfest!!

Nice place. Food good, Bavarian standard. The service was quite poor. They sat four guys at a small table, although there was plenty of space around it.

The Löwenbräukeller was very busy. When we asked for a place, we were turned away by a "lady" in an absolutely unfriendly manner that we have never experienced before.

As many German restaurants, they don't serve free tap water. But this keeps some room to improve: They can become better if management allows them. One waiter finally served tap water, by saying "This is an absolute exception." Restaurants, please get better!

Traditional cuisine. Top service and good food

I would have given minus if possible. Worst food and service I have ever had in Germany and I travelled a lot in all over Germany. We had the currywurst and wiener schnitzel and how bad can you make these considering how classic both are… Well apparently you can make them VERY BAD! Curry sausage was as dry as you can make it while the schnitzel was as wet as you can get which was quite confusing :/ Now I know why its almost always so empty! The waiter was rude (even for German standards) didn’t let us order what we want and insisted on the schnitzel. They gave us tourist menus and questioned my german when asked for a german menu. He outright fought with us every step of ordering and I never had such an experience in my entire life. He tried to get our order when clearly my husband was not at the table and I said can you give us 5 mins and he kept saying “drinks order”. Never coming here ever again! Worst German experience ever and I literally feel sorry for anyone who comes here and thinks this is a German standard which it’s definitely not!

Next time again Augustinian! Food didn't come once, late once and the spare rips were terrible.

Bavarian brewery. Very touristy in my opinion. The volume is quite high due to the open design. The food was served quickly and was good. Unfortunately you can't swap side dishes (I wanted the side dish of the Wiener Schnitzel with the Wiener Schnitzel; an impossibility). The crusty roast was good and affordable for Munich. Good average, nothing more and nothing less!

I agree with what other guests mentioned about their attitude on this evaluation. bad attitude, and ordinary food & beer. We need to wait very long time to take order and get beer and meals. Everyone should be prepared that they might make you feel bad. We saw many Non German people in a small room or side of the hall because waiters assigned them to these tables and they were not really care about these guests whole time. Especially, the female waiter was terrible. When we finished our dinner, she said to us only the total amount of payment without our bill and took my credit card then swiped it by herself. I was so surprised on her attitude. I asked her to show our bill for checking the detail of our payment, but she was hesitated to do that. After 20 min, she brought our bill and throw it to us. When I checked it, I realized that she added few drinks which we didn’t order on our bill. I told this mistake to her. But she didn’t accept it without any confirmation and didn’t apologize about it too. Then I talked with another waiter about this, so she run to us and refunded 4 euro coins immediately. But actually she added more than 4 euro on our bill. She totally didn’t check how much she needed to refund. I really disappointed at this restaurant and staff because their attitude to guests was not really respectful from the beginning to end. I highly recommend everyone not to go to this restaurant if you want to enjoy your meals and drinks. It’s much better to go to another beer hall or restaurant.

Ordered a Wiener schnitzel - Was a little bit burned. Very few Preiselbeeren and this for 29.70€ + on top not very friendly service..

Absolute tourist stronghold. Food was okayish, unfortunately duck wasn't crispy. The pork knuckle was only warm and not hot and unfortunately the dumpling wasn't fresh either. The service was fine, but we had to call several times to order and pay. The noise level was very loud and carrying on a conversation was tiring. If we hadn't had vouchers and had to pay for everything, we would have been annoyed because the price-performance ratio wasn't in balance.

Dirty tablecloth. Unfriendly waitress. The sausage salad is terrible (sausage with cheese covered in vinegar). I haven't tried a worse dish.

The atmosphere and taste of the restaurant were very good. However, the attitude of the young female clerk in charge was incredibly bad. She ignored me when I called her, cleaned up the food without waiting for an answer even though she was half done eating, and when I asked for the details of the receipt, she handed it to me as if to throw it away. When I checked it, there was a beer listed that I didn't order. When I pointed out the mistake, they only refunded me 4 euros when the original amount was 4.8 euros. The atmosphere of the store was ruined. Worst of all, it ruins the trip.

Sunday afternoon, 2:30 p.m., we would have liked to have a late lunch for two. Although there were numerous free tables without reservations, we were assigned a marginal table right next to the kitchen. We left again.

Super nice restaurant with a wonderful charm. Due to overproduction, we were offered dessert that would otherwise have had to be thrown away. But it could still be found on the invoice. That had a strange aftertaste.

We were on a guided beer tour at this location. The tour always included one drink ticket per seat. In the previous places, the drink tickets were completely valid, but here they were not valid. It was nice that we were the last ones at the table and had to pay for the beers of the whole group out of our own pocket. You're quite the scumbags, then.

Looks great from the outside. Inside atmosphere was dry low key however we were here between 4:30 - 6:30pm service is very slow. A gaggle of waiting staff is often seen congregating around the bar and not doing their jobs!!!

The Löwenbràukeller has great cuisine and a good price-performance ratio. Only the Löwenbräubier is just not my thing, you have to drink it.

Pricey! Paid 70 euro, + the waiter added 10% tip more or less on his own, total paid 77 euro. Two adults, had one main course each and one big beer each. The schnitzel was a disappointment, thin and dry. The meat patties was OK.

We had arranged to meet friends for lunch. It was very crowded, but everything went very quickly. The food was very tasty.

An iconic historical place close to the historical center and the Old Pinakothek, right next to the metro exit. The design is absolutely consistent with a typical historical Munich beer hall - low arches and wooden benches with tables. Despite Oktoberfest, we managed to book a free table for 4 people half an hour before visiting this place. Prices correspond to such establishments in the center. There is a wide selection of Bavarian cuisine, Löwenbrau beer and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. We took pork pulka, pork tenderloin with dumplings, pancake soup and strudel. The main courses and soup were delicious, and the portions, although not impressive in size, were quite filling. But the strudel was an unpleasant surprise - it was quite small for its price. At the same time, there are no complaints about the taste, it’s very homely, as if your grandmother baked the strudel. The service was fast and polite, food was brought to everyone at the same time and promptly. However, the waiter himself was somewhat intrusive, he came to the table too often and looked at our dishes, which created a strange feeling

After a two week long trip and tons of amazing experiences at other popular Munich restaurants, I could not have been more disappointed by our experience at the iconic Lowenbrau Brew Hall, which was also the final night of our trip. The brewery was quite busy with it being a Friday and the end of Oktoberfest. The host seated us at a table that we shared with a few strangers, which we didn't mind at all. They were friendly travelers as well. The issue came with our server. He was able to take and deliver our initial order correctly -- a full liter and half liter of their Oktoberfest beer. However, for our second round, my fiance said he wanted to switch to a half liter like me, what with our flight early the next morning. When our server arrived he was carrying two full liters. I said, we only ordered half liters. Our server said, no, I have fulls for you. We again said, but we only ordered halves. We went back and forth a couple of times at which point he said, well I can't take them back; they won't let me take them back. Then he laughed a bit and said, these are better. We reluctantly accepted the beers not wanting to make a scene in the crowded restaurant. We assumed he would only charge us for the half since the mistake was his. We only drank half of the liters at which point we asked for the bill. When the bill came, though, it showed three full points and one half. My fiance said we shouldn't have to pay for the fulls since we didn't order them. The server got incredibly angry and said we had accepted the fulls. We argued that he brought them to us when we ordered halves and he told us we had no choice. He kept insisting angrily that we should pay full while my fiance said we didn't want nor drank a full liter. After a bit, he laughed a bit and said that we accepted them so it was on us to pay for them. At this point, I just gave in and said give me the card reader, and we paid and left. Overall, if management allows this kind of behavior of their servers, I would say, pick any other brew house to go to besides this one. This is atrocious behavior. Servers trying to take advantage of visitors and claim misunderstanding when they are laughing in the faces of those they are scamming is disgusting behavior. After so much hospitality and kindness we experienced throughout the rest of our trip, it was infuriating and so sad to leave Germany on this note. All I will say is if you do decide to risk going here, DO NOT ACCEPT THINGS YOU DIDN'T ORDER.

We was here to eat and try the beer. It was really high sounds do to the room, so much noice we did not hear all when we spoke together or to the waiter. I guess it's a better place to go when you are drunk. They gave good service/checked in. Food was ok (traditional), but expensive. The waiter pushed for tips when paying even if we did not want to give tips for this price/experience there was added almost 10%, and that is not ok.

We drove past this after Oktoberfest and thought it looked interesting. I love Lowenbrau, I have for 35 years. The building is stunning. Outside and in. One of many fine Beer Kellers in Munich. If can only visit one, this is it!

We were just at the Biergarten, very beautiful and cozy. You go through a turnstile in front of the Biergarten, choose your beer, a very kind man helped me, there are some snacks next to it, then you go out the other side and stop at a small wooden house, pay for everything you took, and just enjoy.

Bad service, you make a reservation and are still ignored. Worst service I've ever seen. Better go to another brewery. One cutlery for an entire table. Taste is okay if it arrives after 2 hours. Paying here takes forever.

Very good beer garden from Löwenbräu with a great selection of Bavarian delicacies. Everything we ordered tasted very good and was fresh. The waiter was very friendly and quick.

The Oktoberfest fields get crazy long lines. Go take a look and then have a great experience at the Lowenbrau Beer cellars. Wiener Schnitzel was delicious and of course the Löwenbräu beer star of the show. A good time was had by all.

I had a discount voucher with a barcode for this place. They rejected to accept it because it was not printed... In the 21st century... Personal was extremely impolite and rude.

Nice beer garden, well connected to public transport. However, the waiter was very unfriendly, the food was okay. The selection of side dishes was a bit unusual (coleslaw with currywurst). Price-performance rather poor.

My friends and I were there for dinner. We first waited half an hour for drinks and then we were able to order something to eat. Then 2 hours passed until we received the wrong order, which was then “on the house”… then after another half hour our order finally arrived. When we were finished and wanted to pay, the waiter made a big scene out of it and gave us a really stupid answer about why we wanted to divide a bill for four people by two... when we finally agreed that we would pay everything together, he told us asked to give a tip. We felt forced to give something for such extremely poor and unfriendly service. In the end, we rounded up the tip (€1.80) and were then yelled at again as to why we tipped so little even though they gave us things as “compensation” that we didn’t even want. I've never had such a bad experience in a restaurant. The waiter (bald man in his mid-30s) also told us afterwards that we should please stop coming. Neither will we!!!! One star everywhere because the service was so terrible!

Magnificent building with beer garden atmosphere

When it comes to food, the price-performance ratio is not right at all. Fell in twice. Baked potato completely overcooked. Lentil soup for €11 is just ridiculous. Small portion and tastes like canned soup. The beer garden is very nice. Service ok.

Typical German beer hall: a warm and informal environment, very historic. Compared to other historic breweries it has better service, but the quality of the food is lower: less taste and tradition.

Don't come to this place, poor service and very long waits

Quite ok. Went here for dinner, unfortunately all of our dishes weren't completely cooked through, the black crusted roast was tough and not crispy. The BBQ ribs were very undercooked. The drinks were ok and the service was good as well. Of course it is always quite crowded and therefore very loud. The prices are also quite sporty. Personally, I don't have to go here again.

Good place, we had to come here since my normal places were extremely crowded and couldn’t get a table, we were seated right away, the server rolled his eyes every time we ordered something with our broken German. I guess I should have only spoke English. Food was solid and came out fast, we couldn’t get another beer since our server was refusing to look at our table, ended up waving at him for 5 mins to get our bill and got out as fast as we could. Probably won’t come back, which is sad since I really like the beer. They had a band playing great music and walking around and the building was really cool and had so much history.

We arrived at this little beer by chance because it is very close to the metro stop. It was around lunch time and we tried to stop here for a snack. Good food and beer too. The place is also nice with tables both inside and outside.
