Löwenbräukeller - Das Original in München

Overall, the worst dining experience in Munich. We were there at lunch with a reservation. The beer garden is really nice and spacious. The waiter greeted us, showed us to our table, and was distracted/almost unfriendly from the start (more annoyed, 10 minutes after opening). We had hoped for the Weißwurst special, but they're no longer available due to the changed opening hours starting at 12 p.m. We asked for everything to be ordered individually because we wanted to eat Weißwurst for the first time in Munich. My husband and I ended up with two Weißwursts (we actually wanted two each), two pre-packaged mustard sachets, and a beer each, both of which were poured a good 2 cm below the fill line (mine was even lower). The food was rather mediocre. Our son's pork knuckle was good, the rest... When we asked how best to eat the Weißwurst, the waiter laughed and said, "Skim off the skin and eat it"... yes, thanks. Our daughter's Leberkäse was simply greasy, just like the fried egg. An absolute tourist rip-off.

First off, the food wasn't bad, but there were too many poop flies in the outdoor beer garden. There must have been at least 20 of them, so I had to constantly stir my hands, making it difficult to eat and making my stomach churn. When I finally paid, instead of clicking on the exact number of items I had ordered, they just calculated it roughly. The bill was 2 euros more than I'd paid, and when I later asked for a receipt, they said it was too late (they clearly saw the amount when paying and there was a tip option, so I didn't accidentally add a tip). They re-scanned the three items and beer, and only after confirming the 2 euro difference was paid did they give me my cash back. They didn't apologize at all and just dismissed it as a joke, which was very uncomfortable. I won't be back, and the owner needs to train his staff properly. First off, the food didn't taste bad, but there were too many poop flies in the outdoor beer garden. When I made the last payment, I didn't exactly click on the food I ate, but it was just rough. I had to take a picture of 3 foods and beer again, and they returned it to me in cash after confirming the difference of 2 euros. It was very inconvenient to pass it like a joke without any apology. I have no intention of revisiting, and the boss will have to train the staff straight.

I can't recommend this restaurant because I was deceived by the final bill. Two additional drinks that I didn't order were included in the bill. I only found out after I had paid myself (not a preliminary bill) and asked for a detailed bill, which wasn't brought to me immediately. The money was refunded, but afterward, there were no apologies or explanations. It's a shame that such a good restaurant with a world-famous name left such an impression. I came here to get a good mood and left disgruntled. The day was ruined for me and my friends, who had flown in from America and whom I had taken to this restaurant to taste the beer. The beer, by the way, was delicious.

We were invited by friends and had a wonderful evening at Löwenbräu yesterday. Maluchi served us – always super friendly and highly professional – thank you very much.

We would have liked to have something to eat and drink, but it started to drizzle. One of the staff members opened umbrellas so we could sit in the dry. The other (a tall, thin man) then yelled at us to go inside because it was raining, speaking as if he were my father. We were fed up. Incidentally, it stopped raining again after two minutes.

First time in a German restaurant and we had a great time! The portions are big! Historical building!

Historic Munich brewery. Truly good food and impeccable service. Excellent beer. Very entertaining music. I highly recommend it for those seeking the best.

I have no idea if we just had a bad day, but it was a disaster from start to finish, apart from maybe the music. You wait forever for everything because the waiters, kitchen, and bar are ridiculously understaffed. We barely got two rounds of beer in three hours, and one of our group had the bad luck to order a schnitzel, which we then had to wait another 40 minutes for. The waiter emptied the first round of beer all over my girlfriend's trousers and jacket and then just cursed without apologizing at all during the entire wait (except for the handful of salad with the bread we ordered (which was billed along with the beer) was meant as an apology). After another 40 minutes and several requests for the bill, we pointed out to him when paying that the least we could have done was apologize. He just asked if we wanted a receipt and then quickly left. Overall, it was very disappointing, as with a decent supply of beer, the place could have definitely had a great party if they had simply hired four more people or set up four fewer tables. Since the place was packed, the owner probably won't care if his staff got burnout.

Food was very good, atmosphere was very energetic and entertaining but it was quite noise and some may perceive it as loud.

The bar staff were absolutely audacious with every single beer we ordered as a group of 20. Answer: We pointed this out to the waitress several times. Additionally, some of us went to the bar once. Since nothing changed, it's reasonable to assume this is a system.

I can definitely rate the Löwenbräukeller as good, 4 points. The outdoor area was quite crowded on that Saturday evening, and the waiters were really busy. Nevertheless, we found a seat quickly (they were assigned ;) ). The service was initially excellent, but later in the evening, the waiter lost interest in us. Anyway, it must have been a long day. The food was okay, as expected. I would have liked a little more freshness on the plate. Still, all in all – good!

I went there after being recommended by a local! The exterior of the restaurant was beautiful, and the food was delicious! I went in the morning.

Anyone looking for authentic Bavarian/Munich cuisine, a fitting ambiance, and great beer will always be well-served here. In the five days I was there with my girlfriend, we ate there every day, and there was good reason for that. The waiters even wear dirndls and lederhosen and are always ready. Super authentic, and the prices are good, too. The Keller restaurant has my recommendation, and I almost never give it five stars.

We would especially like to highlight the friendly service in the bar area: attentive, warm, and always with a smile. This makes you feel welcome as a guest. [I can't stand racism] I went at peak time at 6pm, but the server at the entrance said there were no seats. There were only 4 seats that I could see, so when I said "there's one over there", they didn't let me sit inside but instead guided me to a place like a dog house right in front of the entrance. I ordered a beer and it came a long time later, but it was delicious so I recommend it... Is it a cultural difference to expect service at a restaurant?

Nice beer garden. When it's busy, there are waiting times in the service area, but otherwise it's really nice.

Less touristy than the classic Augustiner or Hofbrauhaus, the Löwenbräukeller is located beyond the train station. A classic German beer hall, with a beautiful patio and outdoor terrace, excellent beer, and tasty food. Try the pork knuckle, the selection of sausages, the suckling pig, and the delicious side dishes (sauerkraut or a simple salad) are also noteworthy. Less touristy, more German, and slightly lower prices than the other more central and touristy establishments.

The food was good, the service felt like an assembly line, and the drink prices were exorbitant. Over €5 for a 0.4-liter Spezi is pretty steep. The beer garden is very nice.

A nice and underrated beer garden in the heart of Munich. Come along! Otherwise, it'll close early again.

Unfortunately, the opening hours listed online are incorrect. Service is very poor. The pub closes at 10:30 PM. Opening hours according to the website: Daily: 11:00 AM – 12:00 AM You have to chase the waiter to order something. Or ask if you can order something else. They're busy playing on their phones!

Everything was excellent. One of the few restaurants in Germany where I truly enjoyed the food and service. Recommended.

Tour group dinner, great atmosphere and good beer.

Wonderful place to be with a group . Near the city centre with well connected by Metro. Both beer and food is simply awesome with quick service. Gives a feeling of old world charm. Highly recommend to visit during weekends . Prior booking during weekends might be required owing to the rush.

We were there late in the afternoon, and it wasn't busy at first. We had a very attentive and charming server (Maluchi Greiner) who kept checking on us to see if everything was okay, without being intrusive. The food was good (as they say in Bavaria: "Da kannst nix sagn"—which is almost a compliment) and truly plentiful—the portions were almost too large, and the prices were moderate. Overall, a lovely evening with great service!

The food is very nice. It will not be amazing, but is not bad at all regarding German classics. The service, on the other hand, is remarkably deficient. Rude and disregardful with English speaking customers. There are much better options in terms of quality and service

Expensive and mediocre food, waiters don't come to the tables at all and there's a long wait for everything

Löwenbräukeller. Let the name of the place not leave you perplexed - sitting in the actual cellar is not the only option: there is a biergarten, a spacious hall and secluded places to have a drink with your company. The food is good, the drinks are good, and in case you are a fan of singing along there is an in-house band going from table to table, that'd play literally everything you can think of with a touch of German authenticity!

The food was very good, the adjoining room was nice, but unfortunately the service was completely overwhelmed. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins after the food was already on the table. A tray with cutlery was brought, and stacks of napkins were brought to the tables upon further request.

The food is homely and the prices are fair. Service is friendly, but ordering drinks after the first round was difficult. The atmosphere is stylish and cozy.

Pleasant ambiance in the beer garden, unfortunately grotesquely overpriced. Drinks (Helles 5.60) and food are priced at the same level as at Marienplatz, without offering any particular quality.

The Löwenbräukeller is definitely worth a visit. The service was very friendly and everything was always super quick. It's also not as busy as the Hofbräuhaus. So if you want to experience Munich flair with less fuss, this is the place for you!

Arrived just after kitchen had shut at 10.00 which was a shame. Miserable waiter reluctantly agreed we could stay for a drink. After 1 drink we, and rest of guests were strongly encouraged to pay up and leave before 10.30. Like previous reviews seems like spoilt by some Miserable staff and rush to get rid of customers if it's a bit quiet. Disappointing first experience of my first german bierkeller. Similar experience to other reviews, needs addressed by management.

Nice place to eat. Everything you would expect from one of the top brewery restaurants. Of course the beer was good but the pool and Uncle was also excellent (one of Germany's guilty pleasures...). There appears to be multiple venues at this site. I nearly skipped it because one of the venues with a similar name showed that they were closed on Google maps. I'm glad I dug a little deeper to find the restaurant was open. If you found this review helpful, please hit the like button.

It was empty on Sunday lunchtime. It's strange. But we stayed. Unfortunately. The food wasn't fresh. The grilled chicken was definitely from the day before (you can tell straight away). At the end we were asked if the meal was good. It wasn't. We were immediately offered something else. It felt like it was routine, so there are always complaints, and the staff are prepared for it. They also cut corners on the beer here. Despite everything being overpriced. Unfortunately not a single glass was filled properly. And to top it all off: we had to wait 19 minutes for the bill, even though the restaurant was almost empty. On purpose?

We met Matthias and Marta in the English Garden; without this pleasant encounter, we wouldn't have considered the beer garden. As a visitor to Munich, you should definitely check out the restaurants, especially since I had the BEST currywurst there, accompanied by a delicious beer. The service gives the impression that everyone is having a good time. I'd be happy to come back next time.

The food is average, the drinks are very good. Service is friendly but not the fastest, but the wait is still bearable. Definitely worth a visit.

The worst service. The place wasn’t even remotely full and none of the five incompetent waiters knew which one of them was supposed to take our table’s order. After an hour of asking and waiting we decided to leave.

Great place and lovely beer garden. Unfortunately, the staff here are too busy with themselves. They wear traditional costumes but different shoes that don't match at all.

I did not tip in the American way (I rounded up the amount to the closest amount in 10) and waiter confronted me by saying that they “live on the tips” (this is the exact word, I do not know how this can be regarded as a “polite reminder”). That German aggression was shockingly real. Maybe it’s true and the restaurant is not obeying the German labor law, in which case I will change this review back to 5 stars and report to labor authorities.

A very nice restaurant, the beer garden is inviting, and the atmosphere is truly wonderful. A friendly welcome, where you can be seated, and friendly service. The food was delicious and the value for money was good. We'll be happy to come back.

The sausages are delicious, but the pickled cabbage is a bit salty for Taiwanese people. It is delicious, but because it is too salty, only a pile of it is left. However, the horseradish shreds on the top are delicious, but it’s a pity that there are too few... You can sit outdoors if you don’t mind the smoke and noise, but because there are no guests sitting inside, it is cooler and quieter than outdoors, suitable for dining alone!

The atmosphere is simply relaxing. The food, the service, everything is top-notch. You can tell that the work here is done with a lot of passion and professionalism! What I absolutely cannot understand is CJ's review. I read it myself – and quite honestly: You rarely read such a dubious and unbelievable description. Of course, there are contracts in Germany, and of course everything is regulated here. What was claimed there seems completely unfounded and cannot be taken seriously by anyone with a modicum of knowledge.

I don't have much to say about this place. We arrived a bit late and sadly the kitchen was already closed. We just had the chance to drink one beer because the waiter made us leave very early. The atmosphere is nice, but the service could use some improvement.

We came here very often 30 years ago and really enjoyed it. It was still very busy and the beer garden bar was well-stocked. Now the bar is almost empty, and there were only roast pork or chicken options. We decided on roast pork, which was a roast pork carpaccio with a cold dumpling. I was HUNGRY after the two slices of pork roast and the dumplings! We came here often 30 years ago... Even after our registry office. Then every now and then over the years, but today was definitely the last time.

Waiter added 20 euro-worth beer on the check, that we didn’t ask and didn’t drink. Unfortunately, we had to go to the train station and only noticed it later, could not go back and argue. I definitely do not recommend the place.

Service does not listen to your order. Twice I ordered a Maß, but got half a liter, or just another beer. The waiter did not bother to properly split the bill with the group. Unfortunately, that is the service I expect.

Good restaurant and beer garden, has both indoor and outdoor dining areas. The fried goat cheese salad was probably one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten. The charcuterie platter was also very good; beer was decent.

We were there for a morning pint, but unfortunately the weather was bad, so we were only able to eat inside. Nevertheless, the building's history is very impressive, and you feel very comfortable there. The service was excellent; we, as Franconians, were well-treated. The food is okay, although in some places you can tell it's geared towards tourists. We'd be happy to go back!

Value for money? More like a price-performance crime. For that money, I could have bought three frozen pizzas and still had some change left over for a bottle of wine—and that would probably have been the culinary salvation of the evening. Conclusion: If you're happy to pay a lot for little, this is the place for you. For everyone else, it's best to steer clear—or head straight to your favorite frozen food aisle.

The restaurant is like a mass-produced restaurant. The pancake soup is simply served with salty broth, but otherwise nothing special.

We came for dinner with 8 friends, hoping to try the famous beer and food but the experience was extremely disappointing. From the start, communication was difficult, and instead of helping us, the staff reacted with rudeness and impatience. We waited over an hour for our food, all while being treated with a consistently irritated and dismissive attitude. When they finally asked if they could serve the food, we still had to wait another 30 minutes before eating. Dessert? Forget it! the kitchen was already closed by 21:30, and we were simply told “too late.” Final bill? 45€ euro each for a plate and two beers? Absolutely not worth it. Unfriendly service, long waits, no flexibility. Never coming back.

Very poor service. We asked for red cabbage twice, but it wasn't served. The waitress never came to refill our drinks. We were only spoken to in English. Prices were outrageous for the tiny portions. The schnitzel was dripping with fat. Recommended only for tourists.

Provides the typical Bavarian beer hall experience, but not at a quality higher than what is found thousands of miles outside of the region at any replica. If you’re here in Munich, you should go elsewhere.

Great and amazing typical Germany food. The place is very nice!

Too bad because overall it was a nice evening, but the treatment of the middle-aged blond waiter was unacceptable. He never smiled at us, he threw dishes on the table all evening, including the POS to pay at the end of the evening, without even saying thank you or saying goodbye. Maybe because we were Italian? I don't know, considering that my boyfriend is from Alto Adige and interacted with him completely in German without any problems.

I have been to this pub many times and have always had a good time. The second to last time they tried to overcharge us, but I thought it was the waiter's mistake. This time I did the math afterwards and they actually overcharged us. I'm sorry because it's a nice place but I will never go back

We were seated in a sort of private room, where we could sit much more quietly than in the large dining room. The food was delicious and homemade, the service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We really enjoyed our meal here.

Great location for larger events with excellent service and delicious food

The liver dumpling soup was good; if it had been hot, it would have been fantastic. The warm chocolate cake was truly delicious, with a super-liquid center, truly amazing.
