The Augustiner-Keller is simply amazing! A real piece of Bavarian culture, where you can experience the atmosphere of old Munich up close. The huge beer garden with its shady chestnut trees, the rustic wooden tables and the lively, yet cozy atmosphere - that's exactly what a traditional Bavarian pub should be like! The beer? Simply unbeatable! The freshly tapped Augustiner is an absolute delight - ice cold, perfect in taste and simply legendary. And the food? A dream! Huge portions, juicy pork knuckles, delicious sausages and of course the famous Bavarian pretzel - the perfect accompaniment to the beer. The only downside: you can't take the beer with you! That's a real shame, because you'd love to take such an exceptional beer home with you and enjoy it for even longer. But on the other hand - that's exactly a good reason to keep coming back! If you're in Munich, you should definitely visit the Augustiner-Keller - an unforgettable experience!

Not sure if it was because we went in the middle of the day but the service / atmosphere wasn't't the best. They did however have great outdoor bars and activities that was a lovely touch !

A great Bavarian restaurant. I recommend sitting in one of the smaller rooms rather than the Great Hall. There is a lunch menu between 14.00-16.00, you can eat cheaply. Other than that, prices are normal. The wines on the menu are very good, I guess I don't need to mention the beers. The atmosphere is great, the food is good. For me it is the most authentic restaurant in Munich. Definitely recommended.

A real beer garden highlight. If I only gave food and service 4 points, it's because it's beer garden level. Sauce sometimes drowns the dumplings and the waitress perhaps exudes too much of her “Bavarian charm”. Then you have to swallow both uncritically, quietly and recognizably humbly. Speaking of swallowing... a strong one always improves one thing and somehow usually improves the other too (experience value). But the parking situation is a disaster. There is something like this on one side of the site. Big enough for 12 Smart or around six status limousines. Stay on the road and good luck getting rid of your own car there temporarily. The milder the summer evenings, the harder the cars fight to at least be able to park without penalty. It's smart if you don't sit down at one of the regulars' tables (huge trouble!), who considers your expected blood alcohol level in front of a nice police officer and... who therefore uses a taxi. Of course, without spoiling it with too much beer. If the driver still grumbles for no reason, please be lenient with him. He's probably your waitress's brother, No matter how you twist it, this beer garden is clearly a recommendation. You have to like your clientele. It's largely the same thing that happens in the beer gardens in the very south of Munich and beyond. But, a measure is always possible!

This was their signature meal where you supposedly gave a mix of everything. 38€ for a bit of cabbage, one sausage and two very small pieces of meat. All the German I was with said that this is not normal at all, that it was a pure shame and that they would never come back. Funny thing is that the waiter was requiring to get a tip at the end. He was literally waiting and repeating “Tip! Tip! Tip!” and then made a racist comment « I knew your country is like this ».

We really liked its historical texture and delicious food. They have log cabins out back for groups/families. The atmosphere is much more wonderful on the ground floor and at the back. I recommend you make a reservation during crowded periods. During crowded times, waiters may be a little late. Their liter beer was very nice. I recommend.

Not a tourist trap! Really highly recommended as you can eat well as well as dry. The service is excellent, very attentive and friendly. The three of us spontaneously went out for dinner in the evening and ordered 3 schnitzels, which were at the table within fifteen minutes. Fresh, juicy and the potato salad is homemade! Plus the Obazdn with a really fresh pretzel. The prices are really reasonable and the ambience fits Munich perfectly. I'd love to come back here!

A typical Bavarian brewery that you should definitely visit and evaluate depending on the season. In January we were in a large group in the fully occupied warehouse cellar, which presented a challenge in terms of noise... no wonder with hundreds of beer-loving people in a vaulted cellar with brick walls. LOUD! In the warmer seasons, the beer garden is tempting, where everything looks completely different. Service and food typically Bavarian and, as expected, professional.

The atmosphere may be noisy, but it was nice to feel the bustle. However, the beer doesn't feel as carbonated as it does at other places, and the food is so-so. I've tried Haksen many times here and there, but the skin is so tough that I can't cut it well. Even though there are many empty seats at different times, they are directed to the reserved seat and told to show up within 1 hour and 30 minutes. The atmosphere is un-German and enforces tipping, and I said 20% from the beginning, so I only gave 5%. (When I told them 5%, they said something very rude.) Even though Munich is a gentle city, the service does not fit that standard. There are plenty of other good places, so I recommend going somewhere else.

Food is tasty! I’m recommend, and sever is nice as well, even you don’t speak German. When I was walk in, the sever always smiling, I have no idea what I gonna eat when I was order, I asked sever Melt about local German food, he told me what can I order with his profession, patient, friendly and good English. Highly recommended, especially during Oktoberfest. The Maß Edelstoff costs “only” just under € 9.00 and therefore almost half as much as a few hundred meters further in the marquee.

We were there on a Tuesday evening. It was pretty full but we still had room at a table with 2 other guests. The acoustics were just tolerable, but you had to be a little more focused when having conversations. I had a Munich schnitzel with potato salad. The portion was rather economical. The schnitzel was good and fortunately not overcooked, the potato salad (quite a bit) didn't taste like it was freshly prepared and was rather below average. The ½ pork knuckle that my colleague ordered was - according to him - tasty. The price-performance ratio could definitely be better. I planned to tip 10-15%, but was put off - by the relatively "offensive" question of "tip" - and didn't tip. The tone between the staff is sometimes unpleasantly rough. You can go there to sit together comfortably, but I would personally prefer other places to eat.

It's not fun to hold the reins, but it's Taidecha, riding is loyal to the country and benevolent.

My brother, his girlfriend and I came here around 7 pm on a thursday night. Everything seemed right at the start. Nice place, nice decoration. Good for a beer garden standards. There were empty seats and we were kindly recieved. Then we got a waiter, who wasnt speacially kind and threw the menus at us. Although he was a little rude, i didnt mind him. Being a waiter can be a stressful job. So, i let it go. Then we ordered 2 beers (a Maß and a 0,5 L beer) and an apple juice (0,5 L). When the waiter brought it to our table, i though "that is odd, my beerglas is not full". You can look up how full your beer is by looking at the glass (there is usually a mark signaling the proper amount for the glass). Depending on the glass, the mark might be place at another height of the glass. It basically shows you if you are getting the proper amount. I waited for the waiter and told him that my beer wasnt full. He replied and I quote him "es ist frisch gezapftes Bier, verstehen Sie? Das ist normal". The english translation would be "it is freshly tapped beer, do you understand? It is normal". To whom I replied: "It says 1,0 liter beer for 8,60 € (which is expensive in comparison to other places) and i am getting 0,8 liters. Do you understand? I am not getting what i am paying for". You can check the pictures if you want evidence. Then he was upset and went to the bar that was in front of our table and told them to fill my beer with the correct amount, which they did but they looked upset while doing it. If i am honest, the beer didnt even taste like it should. I ordered Edelstoff, which has a specific taste. If you know how it should taste, you would realize it too. I have been living in germany for 9 years. I speak the language fluently and know the culture. I am in love with the beer culture and beer gardens. I don't recommend this place. Bad service and overall a bad experience.

We easily got a reservation for 15 people for the next evening. Large selection of food and drinks in a Bavarian atmosphere. It seemed a bit like being in a cozy get-together in a beer tent. Super fast service even though it was busy. Reasonably priced. The staff was also very quick and tried to accommodate the guests' wishes. Definitely a must when visiting Munich.

I was in the Augustiner beer garden for the first time in winter and I have to say the beer tastes good. In the cold season there are curling rinks and shepherd's wagons that you can rent. A great idea.

Noisier than expected. I was told to give a 5% tip because I was a foreigner, but then they increased the tip to 15%. Food is delicious. It's weird.

The food at this restaurant is great, but you don't come here for the food, you come here for the Augstiner Edelstoff beer. It is said to be the only place that boasts a long tradition dating back to 1328. Other breweries feel like they have lost their identity after being sold to large companies, but this restaurant is said to be the only one that has maintained its tradition and not been sold to a large company. When I ate it, it was really soft, not bitter, and very delicious. (I've tried a lot of beer, but this is the best) They say 500cc of beer is standard, and 1 liter is for tourists (they say 1 liter can't keep it fresh... I drank three 500 cc beers.. haha) 2. Schweinhaksen says not to eat here. Looking at other reviews, Schweinhaxen seems to be good, but I didn't order it according to the local man's advice. 3. So what should I eat? -> A local man recommended the menu right above the Butcher's plate. (I don't know the name ㅠㅠ) I ordered the Butcher's plate before he recommended it, so I couldn't eat what he recommended (Butcher's plate was also delicious, but the combination in this dish seems awkward to German people). A Korean friend sitting next to me (by chance) ate the menu right above the Butcher's plate, and he said it was delicious. Especially pickled cabbage? (If you look at other reviews, it's completely red or even black) It's such a hit! Please note that if you order the Butcher's plate, they do not provide mustard separately, so ask for it and eat it with it!! 4. Weisswurst: It’s really delicious. Weisswurst is eaten without the skin. **And you have to order the pretzels separately!** (The German guy says it's a set of 'Weisswurst + Pretzels + Sweet Mustard') There is a small hole in the top of the Weisswurst, so you suck it with your mouth and take a bite of the sweet mustard. And you eat the pretzels by tearing them with your hands. When I tried it, it was really, really delicious! The waiter will provide you with sweet mustard, but if they don't give it to you, be sure to ask for it! (TMI: Weisswurst is a food eaten before noon. In the past, because there were no refrigerators, it was only eaten in the morning to maintain freshness. This has become a tradition, and even now, some restaurants say that they do not serve weisswurst in the evening.) 5. If you come in the summer, there are tables spread out in the yard outside. I came in winter, and there were no tables outside. However, there were many people outside playing a traditional German game similar to curling. The Keller is a classic in Munich if you want to be in a beer garden when the weather is nice. Augustiner beer is great, the beer garden is great and the food is like it is in the beer garden. So light and shadow. In winter you can do curling, but you should reserve a lane in advance. If you want to play properly, the rinks are too bad, but compared to the competition with plastic rinks, the crooked ice rinks are great. Inside the restaurant is quaint but also big. Reservations should be made around Christmas. Service very quick and friendly. Food is OK. Mass operation that is well organized.

Quite good for the amount of people being transported through. Onion roast was very good, as was the roast pork. Haxn weren't so good. One knuckle was “cooked” too long and the other too short. In other small inns you often get better quality, but everything is good for the size. Top service and very well organized. Single-decker railways create a great winter atmosphere.

Staying in such a large and traditional property is certainly impressive. However, there are better places all around at the same price level if you are looking for decent cuisine/gastronomy (food is rather bland and, for my taste, prepared with too many convenience tools. The service seems rather rough and I don't mean authentic or traditional, but rough bordering on unfriendly. All in all OK but not really a pleasant experience.

Worst experience. We were sitting in the top floor and the waiter was behaving so rude. He was commenting on our food ordered and behaved very rude. Did not respond for more than hour and we were waiting without drink and food. Last week we visited Hofbrauhaus and the service was so good. Augustiner management should learn from Hofbrauhaus.

We were a group of 8. We had initially reserved a curling rink from 3 p.m....then we had dinner in the Augustinerkeller. What we didn't expect, however, was that two men we didn't know stalked us in the parking lot and threatened to tow one of the cars because it supposedly wasn't allowed to be there. It turns out that they were two employees from the Augustinerkeller. Both gentlemen served as replacement managing directors. So you can first leave your money there and then you will be stalked and shouted at in public and accused of lying. But maybe my car just wasn't appropriate, they have something against women or against English people. So be careful!!!!
