L'Osteria in Potsdam

A huge restaurant, yet cozy and stylish, the service friendly, relaxed, and efficient despite its size. We shared a huge pizza. The prices are moderate; we'll be happy to return.

We wanted to sit at one table as a group of 10 people and tried to put a table for 6 and a table for 4 together. This was refused and stopped in a very rude and customer-unfriendly manner. We decided to leave. This is completely unacceptable when it comes to treating guests.

Super delicious food and nice service

Very tasty pizzas, thin crust, well-topped, but overly large! It's best to mention when ordering that you want them pre-sliced, otherwise it's impossible to handle at the table as the pizza extends far beyond the plate. Most people take part of their pizza home, which is why they hand out a lot of boxes, creating unnecessary waste. The service, however, is excellent, very friendly, and competent! The music in the restaurant itself is too loud, which makes everyone speak even louder... It's almost impossible to sit comfortably and have a conversation here.

UPDATE: After a long time of disappointment, I was there again for a business lunch. Immediately after opening at 11:30 a.m., entry and seating allocation was uncomplicated and the food was absolutely on point! What could be improved, however, is the service after opening. Having to wait 10 minutes to place your order is always difficult to reconcile with break times at lunchtime. I would like more attentive service here. In other restaurants with lunch, when I'm allocated a seat, I'm asked straight away whether I know what I want and this is often the case. Asking whether you should have a drink before ordering food also helps to bridge the waiting time. In order to pay, we had to wait another 10 minutes for a service person.

Good atmosphere and extensive menu. Can sometimes be a little loud for my ears but still a good place to hang out. Recommend the lasagna although mine was cold in the middle !

For the duration of our stay at the restaurant, we felt like we were in Italy... our waiter took excellent care of us... the food was delicious... we were thrilled. Thank you!

It's a lovely place to sit by the water or inside. The atmosphere is cozy. And after some initial hesitation, the service was excellent and quick. The pizzas are huge and really delicious. The menu offers a good selection. We'll definitely be back soon.

Beautiful ambiance, right on the water. No-gluten pasta, very large pizzas, and much more. Everything we ate was very good, but the quantity was overwhelming. Friendly staff. Absolutely affordable. We enjoy going there, just like we do in Salzburg or Vienna.

This Italian restaurant is located by the river. The menu offers a good selection (mainly antipasti, pizza, and pasta). The pizzas are very large (about 45 cm), and one is enough for two (you can also order two halves with different toppings for the price of the more expensive pizza). The service is friendly and quite fast.

Everything was excellent, very tasty, and good value for money. Enjoying the waterfront with a view of Friendship Island in good weather, enjoying delicious pizzas.

Nothing to say about the location where L'Osteria is based as it is simply beautiful, but I do have a lot of doubts about the service. There is almost nothing authentically Italian about this place, and certainly not the unfriendly waiters who have served us. Have they ever been to Italy? Maybe it is time to pay a visit and find out how Customers are treated in an Italian osteria, trattoria, pizzeria or ristorante,

I went to Losteria Potsdam for the first time today. I have to say, the service was truly outstanding. Sandra was super nice to me and my companion. I will definitely go back to Losteria here in Potsdam and eat the food again, which was delicious (Spaghetti Carbonara). Thank you so much <3

Looking for a place where you can eat more than just cake, I ended up here. All the seats had reservation signs, a quarter of them occupied. A huge table, you'd be seated. A hint of the GDR. "Take a free table," they told me at first, but as soon as I sat down, they quickly adjusted: "Only the small tables!" I ordered an appetizer and a meal, which arrived and tasted halfway decent. I ordered the bill, added a friendly tip, and tried to pay with a €100 bill. "Can't change, you can pay by card." A twenty and a fifty were missing. Hmm. I said no. "Then we'll wait." "That might take a while," said the waiter, "most people pay by card." Aha. That was 15 minutes ago, we're curious...

Coffee was average, not particularly good. But expensive. Tables are organized like in the East German days: "Table reserved." The waiter assigns the tables. The memory card was sticky. I couldn't judge whether this is a general and permanent condition. At least this waiter spoke very limited German. Orders could only be taken to a very limited extent due to his limited language skills. The waiter also had no idea about the business. Requests for special offers were either incorrectly answered or not answered at all. This, in turn, had nothing to do with his language skills. Tips, cash accepted - thank you. Only after an explicit request was the change returned by him. Conclusion: Location is good. I can't recommend the rest. My companion and I know exactly where we won't go again. I would like to thank the manager for a very quick and professional response. It gives hope for the place. We'll see what the future holds. Perhaps I'll give it another chance somewhere further away.

We had a great visit! Even though we didn't have a reservation, they found a table for us right away. Sandra's service was very attentive. The drinks arrived super quickly. The pizzas were particularly good. Huge and absolutely delicious! It's also great that you can have different toppings on each half. The location right on the river is also beautiful. You have a fantastic view from there.

I eat here regularly. Whether it's pizza, pasta, or salad, it's always delicious! My recommendation: the lasagna. The service, especially from Sandra, is always super friendly and accommodating. One small point deducted for the ambiance is that the music is sometimes a bit too loud for my taste.

The food and service are excellent. I don't know if it was intentional: our request to turn the music down was ignored. So it remains uncomfortable and perhaps intended to make us leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. Hence, a deduction in the ambience—combined with the wish not to return for a while.

We recently went to L'Osteria in Potsdam with my parents and were lucky enough to get a really great seat right on the water – I'm very grateful for the service. The atmosphere by the water is wonderful; you can enjoy the beautiful weather and feel completely at ease. One small downside to the service: we had to wait quite a while for someone to take our order. That was a bit of a shame, as there were actually enough staff and it wasn't very busy at lunchtime. The food itself was excellent. The gnocchi with shrimp, which I always have prepared with spaghetti, was particularly delicious. The pizza was also delicious: one half with mushrooms and shrimp, and the other half we wanted to order with arugula, Parma ham, and Parmesan cheese. Unfortunately, arugula wasn't available that day, so we opted for a simple Margherita, which was also good. Still, I think it's a bit of a shame that such a large restaurant is running out of such a popular ingredient as arugula. Overall, a very nice visit with a great atmosphere, delicious food, and a fantastic spot right on the water. We'll definitely be back.

A very nice restaurant with excellent service and incredibly delicious pizzas. My guests and I were just as thrilled with the beautiful spot by the water as we were with the delicious food and the charmingly fast service. Unfortunately, one guest foolishly picked a fight, claiming that, as a supposed doctor at the Charité, he had special privileges. All this because he couldn't remember that the booked table time is always limited to 90 minutes, and this is fairly stated in the reservation confirmation. He was then politely but firmly escorted out. The nice thing for all the guests around the "dispute area"... we were treated to a glass of Prosecco on the house as compensation for the annoyance. Sensational!!!

Great spot right on the water, the antipasti platter is highly recommended. The tables could be bigger for the pizza sizes, though :D

Reserved for Saturday evening. Unfortunately, we arrived late. We would have liked to have informed them of the delay, but no one answered the phone. After a while, we finally got a seat. The food (lasagna) could have stayed in the microwave a little longer, and some of the drinks we ordered were only available after asking again. I waited in vain for the sugar for my espresso. All in all, not what we're used to from other restaurants.

We arrived by boat, which was a great place to dock. Despite the restaurant being full, we were able to order right away. The food was delicious and the service was friendly. We'd love to come back.

Despite ordering (requesting a table outside by the water for 8 people), and despite confirmation, only seats were available inside (35 degrees) or upstairs. Very friendly service staff...you can't scare guests away any better than that...next door at Peterpan it was very nice....

Tip top. Everything as it should be. Delicious pizza, delicious salad. I liked the online payment and ordering option via QR code best of all. Everything worked incredibly well. Hardly any waiting time. And when we were finished, we just left.

We wanted to eat in the restaurant, but there were no free seats, so we decided to order the pizza to go. I ordered three Margheritas and wanted to choose the toppings myself. Instead of reacting normally, the waiter laughed—even though none of the staff spoke German and we could barely communicate. When I asked what was funny about that, another staff member (a bald man) came over and told me I wasn't allowed to order there. That was very disappointing and unfriendly. There was only one nice and polite staff member, but overall the experience was very negative.

If you appreciate a huge (significantly bigger than your plate!), delicious, and very reasonably priced pizza, and want to enjoy it in a prime location right on the water, then this is the place for you! The mixed salad was also very good! Reservations are a good idea, or just bring some time; the service is very friendly and fast. Highly recommended; the price-performance ratio is truly excellent!

The restaurant has a beautiful location. You get assigned a seat. Along with drinks, we ordered bruschetta, which was very tasty, and a half-and-half pizza. Despite repeated requests and by then only a few people sitting, the pizza didn't arrive until about 1.20 euros later. Still, it was cold and with the wrong toppings. After complaining, we got a free drink from a colleague and the new, now correct pizza after less than 10 minutes, even though they were full again. The bill from the same colleague was also very problematic and not particularly friendly. I don't need that again.

We can't comment on the food or the ambiance, as that never happened. We can only rate the friendliness of the service: We politely asked if a reservation for the following evening was possible. He responded harshly, before simply leaving us standing there without answering: "It's best to eat on the terrace, right?!? Absolutely not!" We would have eaten inside, but felt so unwelcome that we went somewhere else to eat, especially after we noticed on the terrace as we left that they were still accepting reservations and that online reservations were also still possible.

Very nice experience! Good ambiance, good position if you want to eat outside next to the water, pizza is great with diverse sortimente, we liked that we can combine 2 types of pizza in one. Attention the portions are huge (for the pizza) so if you are not hungry you better order just one it's enough for 2 people. Unfortunatedly the service takes too long we waited more than 40 minutes and we see other people coming and ordering after us and receiving before us.

Very poor service and rude staff. We had a reservation and when we arrived this guy on the door wanted to take us to this other “terrace” area to eat. We mentioned that there was a table empty by the river and told him we wanted to sit there, if possible. He barely acknowledged my question, while rushing us to the terrace, answered without looking at our faces and said that table is for groups of 4. We were then sat at this terrace which we were unhappy about, but he did not ask if we were okay with sitting there. After 2 minutes, a table got up (they were 2 people!!!), so we asked another waiter if we could sit there by the water. He then said we need to ask the first guy that stands at the door. We thought it was strange but thought nevermind and did not bother to get up and ask. The waiter then came to us, said he talked to the door-guy and there were no tables available. While at the same we were literally able to see that there were TWO tables available. We felt very uncomfortable and left without ordering. Very very unfriendly attitude, do not recommend.

A fairly large Italian restaurant, possibly a chain, but I'm not sure. Beautiful style, modern design. The service was very friendly and they were able to save us a seat despite the restaurant being very full. Reservations are recommended, at least on weekends. The food was very tasty and the portions were quite generous, offering good value for money. I can happily recommend this restaurant.

We've been going to L'Osteria in Berlin (Ku'damm & Savignyplatz) at least once a week for quite some time now, and it's always a dream to eat there. Now we're also in Potsdam on business and wanted to stop here. That was on August 3, 2025, in the afternoon. The reception was quite nice; we were seated right at the front right at a table for two, but unfortunately, it started with us having to wait over 20 minutes for a waiter (we're used to a completely different experience in Berlin; the unmotivated male waiter, at least in our case, was also at the neighboring tables and at the counter right next to them, and unfortunately, he still didn't come to us. After we asked for someone ourselves after 20 minutes and mentioned that we were waiting so long, a waiter came, but it also took about three more minutes. But neither of them offered a single word or gesture of apology, etc. If the argument is that there's a lot to do, you're unfortunately wrong. The people who were seated directly in front of us had already received their food from the same colleague (salad, pizza) in the meantime, and we hadn't even ordered yet. That couldn't have been the problem. The menus were also on the table, so we hadn't ordered yet. The usher had a direct view of us, and he also preferred to chatter in between. With colleagues than to come to us. So far, so good. When ordering, we mentioned that the crust should not be so hard, and that less cheese and more tomato sauce should be used. This has been working in Berlin since day one, by the way. Unfortunately, not here. Compared to the large pizza, you could only find the tomato sauce, and there was so much cheese on it that the pizza was dry. Unfortunately, over half of the pizza remained on the plate. Anyone who thinks they'll ask if everything is okay is wrong. (This is also different from Berlin or other restaurants nearby.) I order extra pepperoni on the pizza for quite a bit of money. I seriously only get two small pepperoni peppers on half a pizza? Well, that's really not nice, and experience has shown that it can be done quite differently (perhaps you should urgently get training in this area?). After we unfortunately couldn't enjoy the pizza that much, and unfortunately, no one felt responsible for us, we paid via QR code and also wrote down my opinion. Unfortunately, there was no tip, I hope you'll take that with you. Take it to heart and do better in the future, and then tipping will be included. Why does this work in Berlin, but so much seems to go wrong in Potsdam? It's really expensive, and I expect appropriate service here. And if, as a waiter, I (unfortunately, apparently) have no motivation to do this job that day, then I'd rather not. I'm curious to see if this review will be read and answered honestly, or if I'll get a standard response.

Yesterday, two of us went to this restaurant. The two male waitresses had never heard of friendliness. What we encountered there was abysmal. I asked if we could sit at a table for four. EVERYTHING was still available!!! We—two middle-aged women—would have liked to be comfortable on a bench. Instead, I was rudely informed that if there were two of us, we'd sit at the small tables. And they were SMALL! The bistro chairs were uncomfortable. You bumped into the person sitting at the next table for two and didn't feel comfortable. Sparrows fluttered above our heads in the restaurant, but they didn't bother us. They padded around on the still-empty tables. They gathered on the large counter and weren't escorted away by the staff. When you consider that the oversized pizzas spilled well over the plates and hung on the table... Meal... Hygiene is different. And I really do love birds, but not their droppings on my food. The large patio windows were all closed due to the weather. The icing on the cake, however, was that a "supervisor" rudely dragged my friend, who was just about to go to the restroom and had almost closed the door behind her, out of the room in front of the packed restaurant, and yelled at her in the most unfriendly way, telling her she had to go to the regular restroom at the back. This "supervisor-I-am-important-person" had absolutely no control over himself. Aggressive and shaking his head, he ran through the restaurant, ranting to himself... She did the same thing to me. I'd been there three times before. It was both an accessible restroom and a baby changing room. I found his behavior so unbelievable that I went up to him and explained that he could never know who he was dealing with. There are people whose appearance doesn't show that they are severely disabled and that they need exactly that restroom. This man should be held accountable. You go to a restaurant unsuspectingly, wanting to have a good time, and you get traumatized. US - NEVER AGAIN. The young woman who served us was very, very nice. The food was delicious. A bottle of water there costs €7.25.

We were there with a group of 12. It was lunchtime at 12 p.m. Everything was perfect, from ordering to paying. The food was amazing, the salad was fantastic, and the pizza was as big as a wagon wheel. It's a shame we're 200 km from Potsdam; we would definitely go there more often.

3rd and final visit - the restaurant was busy, no one was at the welcome table, so I went down to the downstairs dining room to ask if there was room for me. I was told to go to the bar. I did. When a table was available... I asked the bartender if I could sit there... he said yes. Until the "person in charge" ordered me to get up because the table was reserved. When I got up, I was told I had to wait at the entrance... I'll never wait there again and I won't let someone loudly admonish me like that... good luck. 2nd visit - gnocchi with shrimp was okay. 1st visit - mushroom risotto was good and sufficient as a main course... nice view of the water.

Absolutely appalling attitude from management — never again! We called ahead to ask if, despite the closed outdoor seating, we could still order at the bar and sit outside. We were told that would be no problem. Once we arrived, the staff at the bar were friendly and helpful — but unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The so-called “manager” (the guy standing at the door controlling the line) was rude and completely unreasonable. He insisted that food could only be served in takeaway boxes — no plates — even though we were eating right there on the premises. Why? No explanation. Just attitude. But the real low point? He actually reached into our bag and took out the metal cutlery we were given by the friendly staff member — forks and spoons — without a word. Just a scowl. As if we were trying to steal from the place. It was bizarre, patronizing, and honestly humiliating. We had just paid 60 euros for three extremely average pasta dishes, and yet we were treated like freeloaders. If you enjoy being spoken down to after overpaying for cafeteria-level food, this is your place. Otherwise, avoid L’Osteria — there are far better spots nearby where customers are treated with basic respect.

As expected, friendly staff, prompt service, and fast service. The atmosphere is so great. We'll be happy to come back.

Very lively for a Monday night. They serve their legendary 18-inch pizzas 🍕. The Caesar's Salad Pizza is especially recommended. Something different, more American.

We were 3 persons at the table and we felt immediately the eaiter dislike for haveing order just one pizza. Afterwards, he barely paid attention to us and when we had to pay he left us with the mobile POS and went away. Food's still great but service still not good enough.

Very disappointing visit – never again! Today I went to L'Osteria in the center of Potsdam with a friend – and unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. Upon arrival, we politely asked if we could sit at a free table outside. We had seen a free table outside and thought it might be possible to sit there. But the manager immediately reacted in an extremely rude and sarcastic manner: "Really?! Have you seen my list?!" – apparently the table was reserved. Instead of informing us politely, we were immediately met with rude behavior. We finally got a table – but it was right at the edge, right by the passage, apparently without much effort to offer us anything better. Two minutes later, a waiter came over and simply said, "So..." – without really asking what we wanted to order. Since we hadn't decided yet, we asked for a moment. He rolled his eyes and simply walked away without saying a word. When we finally went to order, there was no waiter to be found. Thirty minutes later, our original waiter finally returned, and we were able to order. The portions were huge; we had completely overestimated them, so we had quite a bit left over. Afterward, we asked to have the food boxed up—but again, there was no one around. After a while, we caught another waiter and asked him to box the food to go and bring us the bill. He said "one minute," but then nothing happened. We waited for 50 minutes, while he walked right past us several times. Then our waiter came back, took the pizza, simply threw it on a piece of paper, folded it four times, squeezed it, and stuffed it all into a bag—without comment. The bag simply landed on our table. 25 minutes later, he finally came and asked if we wanted to pay. Two more plates of food were still on the table. We asked for them to be boxed up as well. The waiter rolled his eyes again, took the plates, and at some point brought them back, carelessly wrapped—again without comment. Finally, he brought the receipt, simply placed it on the table, and left. No "thank you," no "good evening," nothing. We didn't even know whether to just put the money on the table. So we waited again until he finally showed up again. Conclusion: I've never been treated so rudely and disrespectfully in a restaurant. The evening was ruined from the start, and instead of enjoyment, there was only frustration, waiting, and arrogance. On top of that, we had to wait three hours – most of that time spent waiting. Absolutely not recommended.
