The food was tasty and sufficient. However, one would have liked more flexibility when ordering when it comes to intolerances. It doesn't help to point out that you could have said this when making the reservation.

This restaurant with Austrian cuisine is a welcome change on the Moselle. The food was fresh and deliciously prepared. The drinks are served quickly and cool. The guest room is functionally furnished and has seating. However, there are no dumplings or potatoes for example. E.g. well-made goulash. Only with Knöpfle the selection is a bit narrow. The portions are very generous. The service has to thaw out first, but then it is friendly and attentive.

A nice surprise on the Moselle walk. Reserved for the next day. Friendly welcome and nice appropriate table. Selective wine list. Local and Austrian. Menu with Ö-food highlights from Wienerschnitzel to Kaiserschmarren. Refined pricing by omitting side dishes and per-dish choice for the big appetite. Unfortunately not for the little one. Dumpling tris not dumplings but very large/thick napkin slices. Bregenzer cheese soup, excellent for me. Beef goulash in a very peppery version. I didn't know it that way. The house concept, i.e. the recipe, was explained with a nice conversation. A look at other tables showed satisfied guests. If we come back again, it may be possible to choose another dish from Austria.

Since we were on vacation in Traben Trarbach and wanted to eat something decent, we ended up in this wonderful restaurant. The staff was super friendly and accommodating! The service even gave us recipes because we didn't know what to cook for the next few days 😅 Service power is definitely all 5 stars and gladly more! The food came relatively quickly, despite the hut being full. As you can see online, there is original Austrian cuisine here and accordingly the selection is short and to the point without a lot of frills. I had the Wiener Schnitzel here and I haven't had such a good and, above all, original Wiener Schnitzel from veal in a long time. Well made and worth every penny. The wife and children were also very happy :) All in all, highly recommended and not one of those typical rip-off holiday restaurants.

Food very good. Real Viennese schnitzel and very tasty side dishes, so if you want to eat really good Viennese schnitzel, this is definitely the right place for you. Service could be a little more friendly, I would have liked more understanding when asked about ingredients. Not everyone can tolerate everything and therefore eats everything. Unfortunately, the espresso for our dessert came 10 minutes earlier than the dessert, so it was already empty when our Kaiserschmarn arrived. Unfortunately for vegetarians there are only two dishes to choose from.

I had the dumpling trio with garden salad - and what do I have to say? These were the best dumplings I've ever eaten! Tasty, spicy, delicious. The salad was also very colorful and tasty. The portion was large and filling, but the price/performance ratio was really reasonable. If that's not enough, you can also have dessert. Vegetarian dishes available. There is enough parking space along the street. Be sure to reserve in advance. Highly recommended!

Nice restaurant right on the Moselle. There is a parking space on the street. The staff is really very attentive and friendly, you immediately feel at home. The menu is quite small, I would have liked dumplings as a side dish with the main course. The Wäldertöpfle was very tasty and filled me up quite a bit (normal portion). The meat could have been cooked for 1-2 minutes less, but that's complaining at a high level. We will definitely come back to try the other delicious things.

The Litziger Lay restaurant is an Austrian restaurant in Traben-Trarbach and is located directly on the Moselle. There is a large selection of high quality and very tasty dishes here. The prices for the dishes are quite expensive, but the quality of the individual dishes is extremely good. The Litziger Lay restaurant also offers high-quality wines from the region and of course from Austria. The staff and owners are very friendly, quick and attentive.

Just great. Far away from the hustle and bustle of tourism, I had lunch there with my motorcycle colleague in an idyllic location on the Moselle. Great class. It is advisable to reserve a place. Thank you for the lovely time.

We ate here for the first time between Christmas and New Year. Since the restaurant has relatively few seats, you have to reserve a table well in advance; spontaneous visits are unlikely to work. But our joy was even greater that it finally worked. Our conclusion: Delicious Austrian food in a cozy atmosphere with friendly, attentive but unobtrusive service. It's also great that you can choose from 2 sizes for the dishes. Also worth mentioning is the beautiful and large selection of wines from the region and Austria. We will definitely come back. Update 2024: We have now eaten at Litziger Lay several times and it has been wonderful every time.

Small restaurant with high-quality Austrian dishes just outside Traben-Trarbach (approx. 15 minutes walk from the center). Very tasty and extremely courteous service. The guest room could be a little more comfortable, but that can be a matter of opinion.

Virtually impossible to get a seat, but if you do, you're in luck: Friendly people. Delicious food. Cozy restaurant. Price/quality is top. Do your best to get a table, it's worth it!

The Wiener Schnitzel was tasty, but unfortunately a bit thin and priced in the upper segment. Optimizations are also possible with the fries. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant.

We were greeted personally by the super nice chef (we were very early) and later the service took over. The food was absolutely great, very tasty and freshly prepared! I've never had such delicious Schupfnudeln before, and the cheese spaetzle was also great! Even the fried onions were homemade! We were very satisfied and will definitely come back! Thanks so much

We had dinner here on the last evening of our holiday in Traben-Trarbach, encouraged by the many good reviews. And that was an excellent choice! I had the Bärlauchschupfnudeln, my husband the Salzburger Jaganocken with salad. Everything very tasty and freshly prepared with good ingredients. Extensive wine list, both Austrian and local wines. Smooth, friendly service. And all this in an attractive location with a view of the Moselle.

Very nice waitresses! Excellent Kaiserschmarrn! Unfortunately the Wiener Schnitzel could have been a little better, it wasn't really bad, but I expected more. The potato salad with it was great. The Aperol Spritz was clearly too thin for my taste and could have used more Aperol. All in all, a nice dinner!

We hiked stage 12 of the Moselsteig to Traben-Trarbach with full anticipation of the Käseknöpfle in the Litziger Lay. At first disappointment - no space - no cheese buttons🥺... then we were allowed to enjoy them. Nice service, he made it possible - super friendly and very tasty, even if only outside😉! Always happy and then with reservation 😃

Wir hatten großes Glück dass am Samstagvormittag noch etwas für drei Personen frei war. Die Bedienung und der Service waren ausgezeichnet. Das Essen wurde warm und zügig serviert. Sehr ansprechend angerichtet. Bestellt wurden Brathendlstreifen auf Kartoffelvogerlsalat, Knödeltrio auf Wirsing-Lauch Gemüse und Wäldertöpfle. Geschmeckt hat es ausgezeichnet. Leider haben wir den Kaiserschmarren zu spät in Bestellung gegeben, dafür bekamen wir ein großes Stück Apfelstrudel serviert mit Vanillesoße, eine große Kugel Eis und eine große Portion Sahne. Vegetarier kommen hier auf ihre Kosten, da es viel Auswahl gibt!

I rarely do reviews, but here I think the restaurant more than deserves it. Finally a restaurant that still understands the meaning behind “restaurant”. If I get frozen goods from the wholesale market and nothing homemade, but the prices are high, that has nothing to do with a restaurant for me. I want something that I can't get anywhere else. First of all, the service is great and very friendly. The wines from the region are perfectly chilled and well selected. This was my fourth time there in 3 years and the quality is consistently high. You can tell it is cooked properly and freshly prepared, like when your grandma visits from Austria 😁 I can particularly recommend the “Wäldertöpfle” with the delicious mushroom sauce.

Das Essen, u. a. die Salzburger Jaganocken und das Knödeltrio war top. Leider gab es unsererseits bezüglich der Reservierung ein Mißverständnis. Statt wie tatsächlich reserviert um 18:00 Uhr, waren wir aufgrund eines Irrtums erst um 18:30 Uhr beim Restaurant. Unser Tisch im Außenbereich war da schon vergeben, so daß wir in den Innenbereich ausweichen mußten. Die Außentemperatur betrug zu diesem Zeitpunkt immer noch 28°C bei ca. 80% Luftfeuchtigkeit. Das Innenlokal war weder durchlüftet noch klimatisiert und es war dort kaum auszuhalten. Wir beschlossen trotzdem zu bleiben, zumal der Fußmarsch aus dem Ort bei dieser Witterung nicht angenehm war. Trotz mehrfacher Bitten und Fragen wurde uns beschieden, daß im halbvollen Außenbereich nun alles reserviert sei und ein Umzug dorthin nicht möglich sei. Allerdings blieben während der kompletten Zeit im Lokal (ca. 1,5 h) im Außenbereich ungefähr 6 Plätze an einem Tisch frei. Wir baten mehrfach um diese Plätze und boten an, daß wir sie beim Erscheinen der entsprechenden Gäste sofort wieder verlassen würden, aber das Servicepersonal stellte sich vollkommen stur. Die Verspätung war in diesem Falle unser Fehler, aber das nachfolgende trotzige Verhalten des Personals (oder der Eigentümerin) gegenüber den Gästen, wir haben das allesamt so empfunden, geht gar nicht! Im Ergebnis hat ein Teilnehmer unserer Gruppe es vorgezogen, sein Abendessen auf einer Bank vor dem Lokal zu verspeisen, da er es im Innenraum nicht ausgehalten hat.

Great food, the Wiener Schnitzel is simply terrific, Austrian and no comparison to the German Schnitzels. The cheese dumplings are also amazing. We happened to get the last two spots on Friday evening. You should reserve well in advance. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The service was quick and despite it being busy you hardly had to wait for your food. The atmosphere is very appealing and extremely cozy with a view of the Moselle. A jewel on the Moselle and can only be recommended

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food because we didn't stay until then. The rest actually deserves zero stars… We sat down at the table and shortly afterwards the menus were placed on the table without comment or greeting. When our dog barked shortly afterwards, the owner came out straight away to tell us that we had to keep the dog quiet. Very understandable in itself, but it was really just a short bark. What's exciting is that the dog was seen as a nuisance by the restaurant, while the delivery man who had been parked with the engine running for over 15 minutes and the newly paved path right next to the outdoor seating were obviously considered acceptable. After another critical look from the man (perhaps the owner?) and a snarky comment, we left. Primarily because of the tar and the supplier, but also because unfortunately we are not welcome with dogs, which is a shame. So if you can ignore tar and running engines and don't have dogs or children, you can definitely feel at home here.

We had already given up hope of good food on our multi-day bike tour along the Moselle until we discovered this little restaurant in Traben-Trarbach. The best schnitzel in ages and the cheese soup was a delight. There is also a very friendly host. A clear recommendation.

An excellent restaurant that made it possible for 23 of us to have lunch outside at short notice. The food is excellent and the friendliness of the service is simply great. It's very nice to sit directly on the Moselle. The street in front is a dead end, so there is little traffic.

Absolutely perfect! They were so friendly and sweet. The environment is calm, quiet, by the lakeside. Perfect to just stroll in, have a meal, and stroll along further. Great food, I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend the käsespatzle (vegetarian). We went in at noon so they normally don't have kaiserschmarren (only in evening) but when my sister asked if she could get it, the waiter at first kindly explained it's an evening menu item. After that, he apparently went to ask the chef anyway, and then the chef went out of his way to make it for her after all!! They're absolutely so kind and great people, and the food is just so good. Best käseknöpfle I've ever had, and the wienerschnitzel is exactly as a traditional one should be. Crispy, airy, and moist. I couldn't finish my whole portion, and they packed it to go for me (even the apple sauce!). Honestly, I'm in love ❤️ Cannot stress this enough, perfect. Would give 10 stars if I could. 100/10 I highly recommend.

After two years of repeatedly missing out on coming here, I was a guest here last weekend and my anticipation was absolutely confirmed. We were there at lunchtime and had free choice of seating in the low season. For dinner we had the Viennese classic, i.e. schnitzel with a large salad and, in summer temperatures, a wine spritzer. The owner served us in an absolutely exemplary manner and we really felt very comfortable. Unfortunately we couldn't leave a tip with a card, so please take some change with you for the good service if you're here.

Deliciously eaten a real Wiener schnitzel of veal like in the old days. Well prepared and on your complete plate. Fries are served alongside. I had the large version for 28 euros (small 25 euros) but price - quality is perfectly fine. Very nice service. Drinks normal price. Highly recommended. I made a reservation via Google. Reservations are recommended due to crowds.

It wasn't our first time there, as always it was delicious. Staff is very nice and friendly. We will come again too.

A pearl among restaurants is what hospitality and quality should look like. The food can simply be described as mega. The service is attentive and friendly and you feel welcome. My tip is to just put the Kaspress dumplings in the ox broth. The prices are perfectly fine. Simply recommended and we will definitely come back.

The ratings are far above the actual level of the food. We expected much better food, a shame, it wasn't fine Austrian cuisine. But the service was very nice. We're still puzzling today about what kind of breading that was. Never seen before. In any case, it wasn't the typical schnitzel breading that you would like.

Das Interieur gestaltet sich etwas nüchtern, durch die volle Belegung war es auch laut und schwierig, sich mit 5 Leuten am Tisch zu verständigen. Die Speisen waren gut, wobei das Wiener Schnitzel eher frittiert als in der Pfanne gebraten wirkte. Dem Kaiserschmarrn schienen ein paar Eier zu fehlen, er schmeckte etwas mehlig. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist OK.

Sehr leckeres Essen, egal was man bestellt. Manchmal etwas zu viel, aber einpacken und mitnehmen ist gerne gesehen. Sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Immer wieder und gerne. Vorab reservieren!

Litziger Lay har specialiseret sig i det østrigske køkken. Vi valgte en klassisk wienerschnitzel med tranebær syltetøj. Man kunne vælge mellem pommes frites, varm kartoffelsalat eller en blandet salat som tilbehør. Schnitzlen var tynd, havde en pæn størrelse og var udmærket, men jeg manglede det traditionelle syrligt-salte tilbehør (citron, kapers, sardin). Fritterne var lidt kedelige og manglede salt. Vinkortet bød for forskellige vine til rimelige priser, men desværre heller ikke så spændende. Vi valgte en lokal spätburgunder fra Mosel, som nok var rimelig prissat, men også var lidt tynd i det. Den klassiske apfelstrudel kun netop godkendt og var så pokkers spændende. Betjeningen var venlig og uformel. Oplevelsen var lidt skuffende denne aften.

A restaurant where a single waiter has to rock everything, only serving the food is partly done by the kitchen team. This also means that there can be longer waiting times. The taste of the food was ok, but I would have liked a little more kick. The Wiener Schnitzel seemed big, but in the end there wasn't really any meat in the breading. The side salad was pretty mushy, but the Kaiserschmarrn was great. The button dishes were also tasty, but nothing special. It's nice that you can choose between two portion sizes. I expected more from the restaurant.
