Liebesbier - Urban Art Hotel, Restaurant & Bar in Bayreuth

We wanted to have lunch there today. Unfortunately, the staff seemed completely overwhelmed. We waited five minutes at the "reception" and were then assigned a small table for two in the center of the hall, even though there were plenty of tables for four or more people available. After 15 minutes, we asked the lady who assigned us a table if we could place an order. The answer was, she'd tell someone. Five minutes later, unfortunately, no one came. We decided not to wait any longer. That's a good way to scare away customers. We definitely won't be back and wouldn't recommend the restaurant. Conclusion: cramped paid parking, 0 service, the ambiance was neither visible nor tangible for us, and the food was very expensive, but we couldn't judge it since we weren't served.

The Liebesbier Hotel and Restaurant of the Maisel & Friends Brewery in Bayreuth is a true highlight. The stunning style, featuring modern, contemporary art, combined with the historic ambiance of the disused old brewery, creates an atmosphere that is stylish, modern, and cozy at the same time. Over 100 beers are available to sample – a true paradise for every beer lover, who will find beer heaven on earth here. Numerous events, such as barbecues and beer tastings, are offered. The sauna is another special highlight, with the option of enjoying a brew straight from the tap. There's also a beautifully designed relaxation area – small but perfectly formed. Everything feels very high-quality and well-thought-out. The breakfast is excellent, but there are longer waits, especially during peak times, partly due to the architectural design. We were there for a wedding – from the attentive service to the fantastic food, everything was truly perfect. The excellent quality of the ingredients and dishes is also worth mentioning. We would definitely come back.

Very nice and very friendly service. Unfortunately, the food isn't particularly great. They try very hard to create unusual combinations, but even after several visits, the taste isn't convincing (for me). On the other hand, the drinks menu is huge and very good.

I stayed there for three nights. The breakfast is okay, but it's not ready by 7 a.m. Reserved tables aren't marked, so you might get evicted from a table that's actually reserved without even noticing. The food is otherwise okay, with some originality, but sometimes it's too much. It's annoying that the fitness room doesn't open until 7 a.m., the same time as breakfast, and the rooms are too dark for my taste.

A very nice place to linger. The food and drinks are simply top-quality. The reserved seating is well attended, and the staff serve you very quickly. Only the bus parking lot is poorly signposted. The car parking spaces, however, are perfectly signposted.

On the evening of July 24, I went to Liebesbier with my parents, who were in town visiting, and unfortunately, we had a very bad experience. The woman at the reception was very rude and made it clear that we weren't welcome. I spoke to her in German, but she acted as if she had difficulty understanding me. She must have noticed that we weren't German. She told us there were no free tables, even though there were plenty of tables available inside. When I asked her about it, she said they were all reserved—even though there were no reservation signs on any of the tables. It was obvious that she didn't want us there. I then went to the bar, and the friendly staff there said we could of course eat at the bar or at one of the tables in the lounge area. I told them what the receptionist had said, and even they were surprised. Truly disappointing.

We stopped in here for a leisurely afternoon snack on two burgers, sharing bread with three different spreads, and water, beer, and a spritz. We managed to get a table without a reservation, but I wouldn't bet on it, especially on weekends and in the evenings. The food and service were good, but I have to say, if I'd just eaten my burger (I skipped the fries), I wouldn't have been full, and with fries, the price easily exceeds €20, which I don't think is cheap for a burger. Otherwise, the place has a very nice, modern design, and I find it a great place for drinks, especially in the evenings.

The place itself is super cool, it has a great atmosphere. My husband's steak was amazing, I had the fish which was pretty good. We loved the drinks selection, but it took a while for the server to take our orders. All in all we liked it, would recommend and will be coming back!

Personally, I find it way too loud. Especially the music. The food is okay, but too expensive.

Thank you for this wonderful dining experience. We ate at Liebesbier one evening and it was very tasty. First the bad thing. There was only one thing that I didn't like, but that's a matter of taste. The meat from animals was hanging in a glass cooler, which I personally didn't find very cool. There were lots of positive things. The food was really tasty, the drinks too, the beer is homemade and there's a lot of other things too. But the best thing was the staff. On the day we were there, it was very busy. Despite everything, our orders arrived within minutes. You could still have a nice chat with the waiters and they were very open. However, the visit was not exactly cheap, but that's not so bad these days. It wasn't overpriced either, but you do have to pay a little when there are four of you.

The food was so-so. The service was terrible; the waiter preferred to chat with other waiters rather than attend to customers. We waited about 25 minutes for a beer (it wasn't very busy). We waited another 15-20 minutes to pay. The place was generally very nice. We weren't the only ones disappointed with the service. Another customer was also waiting at the bar to order a beer until he pointed out that they weren't doing what they should be doing while at work. Everything was handled with great courtesy. I'll come back just because it's the only place nearby that serves craft beer, but the manager could pay more attention to the people he employs.

Definitely visit, it is an experience

Liebesbier is something of a love-hate relationship. For Bayreuth, and indeed the entire region, Liebesbier is certainly an asset. The beer selection is undoubtedly first-class and varied. There's first-class communication about which beer pairs with the food, meaning the food pairings and the selection of dishes are diverse, high-quality, innovative, and truly well-prepared. The staff is also really well-trained. The location itself is simply an impressive beer hall that celebrates the theme. What rarely leaves me feeling truly happy, however, is the price. Although I certainly appreciate the quality, in my opinion, you always pay more than what you're used to for comparable quality. At least when you're traveling in cities like Berlin, Cologne, etc. Our last visit cost us €140 for four people. A total of three small beers, one shandy, two sodas, two appetizers, two burgers with fries, one fish & chips, one espresso, and one cappuccino. Quite expensive for lunch (and even dinner). If you're prepared for that, but definitely an experience that every lover of good beer and food should have at least once. As long as there isn't a restaurant of similarly high quality, I'll definitely be back.

Nice place with a cozy atmosphere, a lovely outdoor area, and a wide variety of beers. They had delicious LB burgers 🍔 (gluten-free option!) and dark beer 🍺. Definitely recommend it.

I only want to review the restaurant here. We had the following dishes: Asparagus with ham and teres major. The waitress recommended medium rare. Unfortunately, the meat was at most medium done, or more like well done. When I asked if it really should be medium rare, I was told, "It's because of the lighting here, 💡 I could come in and it would look different." ???? Unfortunately, that doesn't change the fact that the meat was dry and overcooked. The waitress unfortunately didn't try to offer a solution. My wife's asparagus was unfortunately raw. It cracked like a carrot 🥕. Potatoes as a side dish were a convenience! Our waitress subsequently avoided asking if we were satisfied! The lady wanted to avoid a confrontation here. The ambiance outside is very nice, albeit a bit noisy. But this is definitely a recommendation. So if you'd like a drink and like your steak well done, this is the place for you.

As always, Liebesbier is worth a visit. Whether for a business lunch, a romantic dinner, or simply for one of their delicious drinks. Not only can you choose from over 100 beers, there are also delicious cocktails and homemade drinks. If you can't find what you're looking for, no one can help you.^^ Today's food was truly outstanding again. The highest quality, which you can simply taste. We can't think of anything that could be improved. It's simply a pleasure to linger in this beautiful ambiance. Attention to detail and the highest quality materials are immediately noticeable and appreciated. Highly recommended to everyone!!! The only difficult thing is the parking situation. But there's usually a solution :)

A super delicious gluten-free burger! The staff is very knowledgeable about which products are gluten-free and which aren't. There were several gluten-free options, so there was something for everyone.

We were there for the breakfast buffet. For €24 per person, you get a good selection :) Fresh ginger shot and berry smoothie, waffles on a stick, two kinds of egg, various breads, and a good cheese platter! We managed to get a seat without a reservation on a Friday.

The hotel and restaurant are a wonderful place. Modern and exciting, as it never feels too monotonous. Once you understand the self-service check-in, it's also super easy. I used to love going there, but now the value for money is completely out of reach. Extremely overpriced. 20 euros for a burger is simply not justifiable. A good place in itself, but the prices are unreasonable. Update: now 22 euros. I can't justify it anymore.

A MUST when you are in Bayreuth

We love it, and there's something for everyone. Top-notch friendliness, top-notch ambiance

With a friend, a trained fine-dining chef, we ordered two steaks there. I chose the Liebesbier because I've enjoyed truly excellent steaks there before. The beer is always beyond reproach anyway. But the quality of the food seems more like a gamble. That was my colleague's comment about whether the meat had been heated in the microwave. I was surprised by the very barnyard-like, green taste of the supposedly grain-fed beef – and I couldn't finish the flat iron. Out of respect for the animal, I try to avoid not finishing a steak, and I felt quite uncomfortable sending meat back. The waitress was kind enough to smell the meat, and I also insisted on letting the chef smell it, but the meat was fine. My colleague said it smelled very much like a barnyard and guessed it was silage-fed and a rather industrial type of husbandry. That would indicate that there might have been a supply shortage and the usual source was exhausted. Because, as I wrote, I've also eaten absolutely top-notch steaks at Liebesbier. Because we're still irritated by the visit on May 27th, I think the feedback is important – not least so the kitchen can investigate. The grilled vegetables are likely to be a recurring theme: drowned in soy sauce, they unfortunately degenerate into a side dish more in keeping with an all-you-can-eat Asian restaurant. I've also had much better grilled vegetables before. Liebesbier, I don't know what's going on with you – you'll obviously get a second chance. But make sure the quality doesn't fluctuate between heaven and hell. Especially for business lunches, you're actually my #1 location in Bayreuth, but I can't disappoint my guests under any circumstances.

We celebrated our wedding there on June 7, 2025. From the planning to the cleanup, everything was just perfect. Janina and Melissa had everything under control. The service staff was always approachable, attentive, and yet unobtrusive. The bottling plant was simply fantastic as a space for celebrations. The food was excellent, and the buffet setup was wonderful. A complete success! The Liebesbier team played a significant and exceptionally positive role in the day. Thank you to everyone involved.

In Bayreuth, you'll find Liebesbier, where you can not only drink great Maisel's beer, but also enjoy excellent food. I'd particularly like to highlight the beer tasting board—five beers with descriptions to warm you up before you decide on another drink. The cheese spaetzle was also particularly delicious. Our waitresses were also particularly friendly. All in all, a truly wonderful experience.

A truly great location. You shouldn't order meat. You don't get what you ordered. I had an entrecôte and wanted it rare. I assume it was rump. It was tough and not cooked to the desired degree. The only comment from the service was, "That's always the way it is with us." They were also very aggressive. At €50 for a piece of meat, that's abysmal. Overall, it was intentional but not done well. A real shame. The location is top-notch.

Hatte mich mit Freunden zum Frühstücksbrunch verabredet. Das Essen war lecker - doch leider wurden wir nach exakt 2 Stunden um 11 Uhr abkassiert und "gebeten " zu gehen. Die Tische waren ca zur Hälfte belegt - also hat und dieser Rausschmiss schon sehr irritiert. So schnell sehr Ihr uns nicht wieder. Schade !

We enjoyed our breakfast in the beautiful outdoor area on the sun terrace – a perfect start to a relaxing day 🌟

The Liebesbier is highly recommended! The entire location (hotel, restaurant, brewery) looks absolutely fantastic. The hotel is modern, and check-in and check-out can be conveniently done via a mobile app. The room was also great, very modern. It also had some cool highlights, including a built-in radio in the bathroom, a small minibar, and other useful items (shoehorn, flip-flops). We didn't eat anything in the restaurant itself, but we did try the beer board. It's a great way to sample some of the delicious beers. (Friends have eaten here before and can highly recommend it, too.) The service was also very good, friendly, and prompt. There's a lot else to do here, too. We visited the cellar passages beneath the Bayreuth Brewery and had a great tour with lots of interesting information about the history of breweries and Bayreuth. There are many other things to do, and we will definitely come back.

Umfangreiches Angebot , mit verschiedenen Käse, Wurst, Aufstrichen und vielem anderen mehr. Man kann beim Frühstücksbuffet so viel Verschiedenes trinken, wie man möchte. Genial. Auch Waffeln und Croissant gibt es , sowie Müsli, Früchte und Joghurt. Es ist für jeden etwas dabei. Die Brotauswahl könnte etwas vielfältiger sein, z.B. Dinkelbrot oder Vollkornbrot wären noch gut. Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und sehr freundlich. Wir waren rundum zufrieden.

The quality of the food has deteriorated significantly - both the meat and the sauce are no longer of the same quality. You used to serve a good cheese sauce with a good steak, unfortunately that's no longer the case today. And don't forget the service from the waitresses: They serve in a bad mood and ignore you when you call them. Liebesbier was once the best restaurant we had in Bayreuth - unfortunately I can no longer say that today. Too bad.

Leider kann ich das Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen. Ich habe Saibling bestellt. Das Essen kostete 28,50 Euro und ich dachte, die Beilagen, in dem Fall Spargel und Kartoffeln, würden noch extra serviert werden-dabei war das auf dem Teller bereits alles (siehe Foto). Auf dem Foto seht ihr das gesamte Gericht. Ich habe nur den Fisch zur Seite geschoben, damit man die kaum existierenden Beilagen erkennen kann. Nach einer Beschwerde, wo genau der Spargel sei, wurde mir erst einmal gesagt, dass ich nicht "unverschämt" werden müsse. Der Kellner sagte, er würde sich darum kümmern,kam dann aber nie mehr an unseren Tisch. Eine andere Dame brachte mir dann immerhin noch ein paar Spargelspitzen. Meine Einschätzung - überheblich und überteuert und enttäuschend.

Great ambience, delicious food. After the catacomb tour we went to dinner here to try the beer noodle bowl. Very tasty, a little too spicy and as a result other flavors were lost, but hey, very good for an experience restaurant. The range of vegan and vegetarian dishes is also great. I found the long wait for the drinks a shame. 20 minutes until the drink arrived after ordering. The restaurant wasn't completely full and there were a lot of staff behind the bar, so drinks simply have to go faster. Still a full recommendation if you're out and about in the adventure world anyway.

Best steaks in town. We had the lady's cut and the roast beef. Great quality. Cooking level medium-rare. The beer herb butter and the pepper sauce are highly recommended. I can recommend the potato gratin. There was no salt in the cheese spaetzle. Service was attentive and friendly. There is a lot of beer. Perfect if you want to try something out, but the Bayreuth classics are also on the menu. The desserts didn't really appeal to me, so I ended up with cocktails. I was particularly pleasantly surprised by the basil cocktail. I didn't know that yet. Paid 110€ with tip. Absolutely worth the price. Would definitely reserve. It's also nice to sit outside. In addition to the food, the other offerings in the house are also worth checking out.

Food was okay, unfortunately the rib eye steak wasn't medium rare. The spaetzle had too little cheese. Service was top. The ambience was nice but the background noise was too loud for me. The tables are also too close together in my opinion.

Quaint restaurant with a great beer list and attentive staff

I regularly come to Liebesbier to enjoy a beer. It always remains varied with competent advice and the beer is tapped and presented perfectly even in stressful situations. This is how beer culture and enjoyment is fun! The food is also convincing, especially the burgers and the meat selection, which are constant parts of the menu, are great. In my opinion the best meat in the city, the special cuts from the dry ager are beyond any doubt. A delight for every beef enthusiast. The ambience and atmosphere are perfectly matched to the style of the menu and the restaurant, you can tell that someone with a strong concept has created a well-rounded thing here! For beer culture, Liebesbier is THE address in Bayreuth, although it can also be completely convincing in any other discipline. So head to the bar and enjoy a perfectly tapped cellar beer, craft beer or something exotic from faraway America!

Tasty, clean, friendly Unfortunately 6 stars are not possible...highly recommended. And, even if it's just a minor matter, the cleanliness of the toilet deserves its own mention.

We went to Liebesbier two days in a row because we liked it so much the first night that we wanted to try more of the food and beers. The ambience is incredible, a large and spacious restaurant with a cool look, a fireplace here, beer barrels there and cozy corners to linger everywhere. The pictures of celebrities who stayed here, such as Bella B. and Till Schweiger, also speak for the quality of these rooms. We particularly liked the beer tasting board. When putting it together, you could easily find out your own taste. The ingredients of the dishes were of high quality and the food was a great taste experience. Totally recommended!

For me personally, the Liebesbier in Bayreuth is the outstanding location for beer culture in Germany - a real temple for fans of cultivated beer enjoyment. This combines first-class diner cuisine with high-quality, regional ingredients, an impressive maturing cabinet, its own bakery and coffee roastery, and an outstanding selection of draft and bottled beers. The beautiful ambience and the warm, inviting atmosphere complete the experience perfectly. I think it's rare to find such diversity, quality and passion for good beer and good food. What's particularly impressive to me is that Jeff Maisel has created a unique place here to represent his Maisel & Friends brand - lived friendship and beer culture can really be fully experienced here. For me, Liebesbier is the first address in the region to celebrate the completion of successful projects with customers - often combined with a private tour or a visit to the beer museum, which is well worth seeing. Super brilliant beer selection that you can try with the ale tasting tray. The selection of dishes is so diverse that we made reservations for the next day because we wanted to try even more. (is certainly recommended, especially on weekends) We were completely thrilled from the first sip of beer to the last spoonful of ice cream/cheesecake.

We were staying at the hotel next door and came here for dinner. We also tried some of the beers, there was a great variety to choose from. The food we ordered Roast Beef and Lammhaxe were absolutely delicious. A wonderful spot for a tasty meal and a good drink!

Nice location with good service. Beer in so many different versions is fantastic. Huli huli burger was great
