Das Essen und die Atmosphäre waren super. Total entspannt. Unser Kellner, der Emmanuel Macron verdächtig ähnlich sah, war total witzig und unglaublich freundlich. Der einzige Wermutstropfen an einem ansonsten perfekten Abend war ein völlig unprovozierter Angriff auf meine Person: Er fragte mich, ob ich Amerikaner sei. Ich werde ihm das schon verzeihen.

Es liegt an einem romantischen Ort mit toller Atmosphäre. Und das Essen ist auch köstlich. Es sind so viele Leute da! Hahaha.

Eine sehr interessante Location auf dem Fähranleger vor der alten Fischautionshalle.

Das Ambiente ist super,ebenso die Karte. ABER,das Personal absolut überheblich und unangenehm. Wir wollten bestellen,saßen draußen, wo wohl noch nicht bedient werden darf. Dies wurde uns in einem Ton bei gebracht,der absolut unangebracht war und wir daraufhin gegangen sind. Anscheinend ist man auf Gäste nicht angewiesen.

Sensationelle Location , toller Service

Das Essen war super in einer tollen Lage, aber der Service war langsam und wenig hilfsbereit.

Wir hatten für Dienstag um 18:00 Uhr einen Tisch im Liberta Homburg reserviert und waren pünktlich vor Ort. Leider war es im Restaurant bei unserer Ankunft sehr kalt. Uns wurden zwar Decken angeboten, da die Heizung erst noch aufheizen musste, dennoch war der Start in den Abend etwas unangenehm und insgesamt ziemlich chaotisch. Der Service war freundlich und bemüht, wirkte jedoch sehr untrainiert und unprofessionell. Die Kellner mussten teilweise selbst auf der Speisekarte nachschauen, was genau wir bestellt hatten, was keinen besonders sicheren Eindruck machte. Zur Hauptspeise hatte ich ein Rindsfilet mit Pommes frites und kleinem Salat. Geschmacklich war das Essen in Ordnung. Auf Nachfrage, ob ich die Pommes gegen Gemüse tauschen könne, wurde mir gesagt, das sei nicht möglich – stattdessen wurde ein zusätzlicher Salat angeboten, der dann allerdings trotzdem zusammen mit den Pommes serviert wurde. Zudem wurden die Pommes als „die besten, die es je gab“ angepriesen, was sie leider nicht waren. Der größte Minuspunkt war jedoch, dass uns nach dem Essen mitgeteilt wurde, der Tisch müsse in 20 Minuten frei sein. Laut Online-Reservierung stand uns der Tisch für zwei Stunden zur Verfügung (also bis 20:00 Uhr). Stattdessen mussten wir bereits um 19:30 Uhr gehen. Diese Information hätte man von Anfang an transparent kommunizieren sollen – so fühlte es sich unnötig gehetzt an. Fazit: Das Essen war nicht schlecht, aber Organisation, Professionalität und Kommunikation lassen deutlich Luft nach oben. Schade, denn mit besserer Struktur hätte es ein deutlich angenehmerer Abend werden können.

Wir haben bereits öfters Veranstaltungen im Liberté organisiert, und jedes Mal waren wir absolut begeistert! Das Ambiente ist wirklich perfekt. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir den ausgezeichneten Service und das fantastische Essen, das immer wieder für begeisterte Gäste sorgt.

Ein echtes Highlight an der Elbe! Das Liberté ist ein wunderbares französisches Bistro in traumhafter Lage direkt am Wasser. Die Atmosphäre ist entspannt und gleichzeitig stilvoll – perfekt, um den Blick auf die Elbe zu genießen. Das Essen überzeugt mit hoher Qualität und viel Liebe zum Detail, begleitet von sehr guten Cocktails und einer hervorragend ausgewählten Weinkarte. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das professionelle, aufmerksame und dabei ausgesprochen sympathische Personal, das den Besuch rundum angenehm macht. Ein Ort, an den man gerne zurückkehrt – absolut empfehlenswert!

The houseboat had a lovely atmosphere. The service staff were incredibly friendly, just a little confused, but in a charming way. The food was good and recommendable, but not exceptional.

We had to wait 1.5 hrs for our food to arrive. The waiter was very apologetic and offered us a free round of drinks. Food was tasty and atmosphere nice. Make sure you get seats where you look towards the river, seeing the big container vessels pass by.

The view is a dream!!! Food and drinks were on top, even though a little bit overpriced But with this view and atmosphere you understand what you are paying for!

It used to be closed. But now the opening hours are unreliable, perhaps because they're having a private event or something else.

We had a wonderful wedding reception there! It rocks a bit when the boats dock and there's a swell.

The Liberté restaurant in Hamburg is sensationally located and offers a stunning view directly over the harbor. The special ambiance on the water makes a visit unique. However, those prone to seasickness should note that the restaurant actually floats and moves slightly in the waves. For everyone else, it's an extraordinary experience with a fantastic view and maritime flair.

A very beautiful location with a view of the harbor. Some servers seemed a bit distracted. I suspect they were still learning. The bistro-style tables and chairs take some getting used to for those who prefer a more intimate setting. Some tables are also too close together, so you inevitably end up chatting with the guests at the next table when you sit down. But here, everyone is relaxed and cheerful, so the proximity also makes for a lot of fun. The music could be a bit quieter, then the conversations at the table and from table to table would be much more productive.

Highly recommended for Francophiles who appreciate idyllic and swaying scenery! The best French cuisine in Hamburg, on a pontoon on the Elbe! = ALTONA/ FISH MARKET/ FISH AUCTION HALL/ HVV FERRY 62 Excellent value for money! Service and ambiance are fantastic! So just head over to Hamburg's paradise!

Best Cocktails in town - ask for Mai Thai - Not on the Menu but awesome !!!

You wait forever for service. Then half the items on an already very concise menu aren't available. I don't really understand the point of distinguishing between a very concise menu for inside and a slimmed-down version for outside. Mediocre beer in a nice bottle. The tarte flambée looks like it's been frozen. I'm still waiting and waiting and waiting for the Pernod I ordered. It's a shame. A great place with mediocre service.

We were there on a Saturday evening; a reservation is recommended, as it was busy. The location is great, with a great view of the harbor and the activities taking place there. The HADAG ferry regularly docks right in front of the restaurant, which makes it rock a bit more – you have to like that. We sat in the middle in front of the bar with the window open, which gave us a great view outside. The downside was that we could hear all the activities at the bar (conversations between the staff, taking and distributing orders), which made it a bit hectic/busy all the time. The staff is very friendly. The food was very good, especially the dessert, which was sophisticated. We thought the price for dessert was reasonable, but a bit too high for the main course at just under €50.

A super cool spot right on the Elbe River, a dream location. Good food, delicious drinks. The service is varied, often very friendly and accommodating. It's simply a super nice place to watch ships, ferries, and cruise ships in a very chic setting.

I've been to Liberte twice and have always enjoyed it immensely. This visit was absolutely terrible in terms of service. When I go to a place like this, I expect a certain level of service. Compared to other guests, we were addressed informally (!), then they took an extremely long time taking our orders and preferred to attend to the tables of the snobs around us. They made it very clear to us that we weren't a priority because we hadn't ordered a bottle of wine/Cremant. All the other guests were handed their jackets, but not us. Apparently, there's no point in eating out here on the weekend if you're not going to be loudly discussing your next trip to Sylt and drinking by the bottle. Very disappointing. Just because you're not smelling of money doesn't mean you're not willing to spend money on good service and good quality!

Top cocktails and totally friendly

A fantastic restaurant with a unique atmosphere in the harbor. Everything was delicious, except for the corn-fed chicken itself, which was a bit dry. It should be perfect for the price. Unfortunately, they no longer offer bouillabaisse. However, the service was very friendly and the clientele was extremely pleasant. A must-try!

A very nice location on the pontoon. The ferries to Finkenwerder dock here. Of course, it does get a bit bumpy at times, but you quickly get used to it. We thought the food was very good. The service started out very good, but the food wasn't served to everyone at the same time, but rather at fairly long intervals. This continued with everything later on. After the meal, we had to call for attention so we could continue to use the service. Conclusion: Excellent food! Service and organization could be improved.

Yes, that was a real shame, because I actually wanted something to eat, but they didn't want to offer me one, even though there were free tables inside. The waitress asked, but the management somehow didn't want to. !??? ...

What can I say? The food, service, location, and ambiance are top-notch. We were served in a very coordinated manner by three restaurant professionals. We had oysters followed by mules fries and were extremely satisfied. The wine was on ice in the cooler and nice and cold. You sit on a pontoon in the water in the harbor. Everything was great and as we expected. No negative surprises. This tends to be a cozy place for couples. I don't think it's suitable for children, but that's my personal opinion.

A really nice evening! Great location right on the harbor, but what really made the evening special was our waiter Nikola. Such attentive and friendly service – especially his wine recommendations were top! Everything he suggested for us to eat was a hit. You could just tell that he was passionate about his job. We felt totally at home and will definitely come back.

Update from May 2, 2025: Something happened. The prices have risen enormously. The tartare now costs 36(!) euros. It's 210 grams, but it's pretty tasteless. It is served ice cold with a mini portion of fries. My wife had the moules frites. Unfortunately, they came with a strange and untypical smell and tasted untypically musty. The waitress dismissed the complaint by saying they were fresh and therefore there was no problem. Of course they were also calculated. Apart from that, no further attempts were made to compensate for our dissatisfaction. Unfortunately, I have to draw the conclusion that the quality has decreased significantly as prices have increased. Only the service is occasionally very good (with the exception of the aforementioned waitress). Too bad! We're happy to come for a wine, but food is better elsewhere. Therefore now only 2 stars for the food and 3 for the service. My review from December 2024: The Liberté is a truly special place. The location alone justifies the increased prices compared to the already quite high price level in Hamburg (Tatar 210gr costs €34, for example). Since the restaurant is located on a pontoon where the Hadag ships often dock, it takes a few minutes to get used to the very nice but also unstable ambience. Then you will be spoiled with very fine French dishes. The service is very courteous and quick. Sometimes a little too quickly, because our food came while we were still having our aperitif. You should be more careful. Hence a star deduction. Be careful, the seats on the bench at the entrance are tempting but cold in winter. The Liberté is an absolute must in Hamburg.

Actually an absolute favorite address. But what were you thinking about the new outdoor seating? So far French flair – matching the service, ambience and prices. And now? Tourist atmosphere with benches and tables that are far too low - uncomfortable, unaesthetic and simply a shame. A blatant change in appearance and extremely uncomfortable! Why do you do something like that?

Staff, great as seldom, food top, we were able to spend 3 hours of a wonderful evening with very nice people in this beautiful atmosphere... we will definitely be back.

The food was outstanding: the mussels were delicious, the risotto was perfectly cooked and appealing, and the bourguignon was a real treat. We would especially like to mention our waiter who served us great. We actually wanted to order dessert, but unfortunately the dessert was already sold out. However, he solved the situation charmingly and surprised us with a Cremeux Rosé instead, which rounded off the evening wonderfully. A great restaurant with great service and fantastic food – we would love to come back!”

Service - A1 - totally friendly and very attentive. Atmosphere - super cozy, direct view of the water, very inviting and special. Food - price-performance ratio unfortunately not justified at all. Maybe we expected too much based on the prices, but unfortunately we were all disappointed. Hopefully the chef was just having a bad day. For a cocktail, Liberté is definitely worth a visit. We wouldn't come back for the food.

My highlight of the last few months as a restaurant. The prices are higher, but the food and the quantity are absolutely very good. There is nothing wrong here. Unreserved recommendation, super delicious food, super good service, super good ambience. Everything fits here.

The Liberté at the Port of Hamburg offers a sensational location on a pier with a wonderful, upscale ambience, especially on warm summer evenings. You have a great all-round view of the harbor, and the terrace invites you to linger when the weather is good - perfect for a barbecue in the sunshine. A small drawback are the HVV ferries, which dock regularly and let a lot of people pass by, which can spoil the atmosphere a bit. You also shouldn't be seasick, as the waves can cause the sea to rock, especially in wind or storms. Service: The service is excellent. The staff is very attentive and courteous, even larger groups are served confidently and special requests are quickly implemented. Food: While many praise the quality of the food, there are different opinions on the value for money. The prices are high, which is understandable for the location, but not all of the dishes tasted convincing - for example, the salad with shrimps was perceived as overpriced, and the cocktails were also below average for some. Conclusion: The Liberté impresses with its special location and atmosphere, can be reached directly by ferry and offers great service. If you are looking for an extraordinary location, you have come to the right place. There are mixed opinions about the food, but those who want to treat themselves will definitely enjoy their stay.

Top location and friendly service, a relaxation oasis on the harbor quay with the best view

We were there as part of a company celebration. A nice atmosphere, nice and courteous staff and delicious food rounded off the celebration well.

I'm really torn. The location is super special and extremely inviting, especially on warm summer evenings. The only thing I found annoying was the HVV ferries, which dock at regular intervals and drop off masses of people. The service was A1. We were a large group and our waiter served us confidently and regularly asked for any further requests. We also had requests for improvements, which were immediately corrected. Basically everything happened very quickly. However, for me the price-performance ratio is not at all good when it comes to food. I think 25€ for a salad with 4 prawns swimming in sauce is just great. The other dishes I tried (tarte flambée, risotto) also didn't convince me because they lacked that certain extra/spice. I would have expected something different given the price. And the cocktails were all rather below average. If you want a special location, Liberté is great. But I probably wouldn't eat here again.

As a full-time DJ, I really see a lot of quality locations all year round. The Liberte actually has its own charm just because of its location. In addition, the service is really very good and the food is of high quality. I can therefore only recommend the location to everyone.

So the only thing that could be criticized here is the masses of people that pass by from the ferry on summer days. Otherwise, there is hardly a nicer, upscale ambience at the harbor.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the service on my second visit. My girlfriend and I went there right when it opened and wanted to sit outside, which is where I sat on my first visit and was very happy because it didn't rock as much as inside. The waitress told us that the outdoor area would not be served that day due to a lack of staff, which was incomprehensible because there were several waiters on duty and there were hardly any guests there and the weather was fantastic. When I pointed this out and asked again to be able to sit outside because I get nauseous and dizzy indoors, I got a rude reaction that it was rocking outside too. No attempt was made to keep me and my girlfriend as guests. A pity. I have a different understanding of hospitality and service.

We had such a lovely evening at Liberté today. The drinks and the ambience as well as the service can only be recommended. I like the Espresso Martini the best, although the Old Cuban was also really great. Today was an unforgettable evening with DJ.

The restaurant is on the water. You therefore have a great all-round view of the port of Hamburg. The service is very courteous and the food tastes very good. However, you have to be seaworthy to stay there for a long time, because it can fluctuate a bit in wind or even storms. The ships that dock there several times an hour (the jetty next to the restaurant also serves as an HVV stop) sometimes dock a bit rough. But this is mostly due to the waves. They have a beautiful, large terrace that can be used for barbecues when the sun is shining.
