Lerchennest Leipzig in Leipzig

We were there in the evening. The quality of the dishes (mutzbraten / ox cheeks) were good to very good in terms of taste. The portions were ok. Unfortunately, the side salad was not served and there could have been a little more sauce. The drink prices are annoying. A 0.4 liter draft beer costs 5.50! That's way too expensive. The food prices are also a bit too high. 65 euros for two main courses with 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer. The service is tough but warm. The ambience is quite simple.

You can spend a nice time in the small guest room with an interior that is conducive to the name. When it comes to dishes, we can highly recommend half duck and the cream of porcini mushroom soup. There is also a little surprise from the house for children.

11/30/24, evening: had to change the table that was assigned to us (this table remained empty until we left the restaurant), inattentive service on the 1st floor, empty plates weren't cleared away for ages, food from the current Christmas menu was unfortunately average, a shame.

Just looked where you could still get typical regional food and I have to say, I was shocked in a positive way. I was greeted immediately, allowed to choose my own seat, and less than a minute later I already had the card in my hand. It didn't stop with a delicious cellar beer 😊. When I ate it, I felt like I was transported back to my childhood, because I couldn't eat such great seasoned meat in a restaurant again after the fall of the Wall, it's as good as Grandpa's 😉... of course with Worcester Sauce (actually pronounced "wuster sauce"). . we lovingly called it “orchestra sauce” back then). For the main course, one of the most tender Mutzbraten of my life with plenty of sauerkraut and - typically - Bemme. The service looked after me in a very friendly manner the entire time... and when I write this here, I mean authentic and not fake friendliness, without being intrusive... I can only say: a big thank you to the service and kitchen ! Stay the way you are, then you will always have lovely and satisfied guests & thank you for the successful evening! Intercity Hotel. Was here for 1 week. Very centrally located opposite the Brüderchen Höfen in the middle of the city, almost next to the main train station. Very calm. I would like to come back. Apparently no dogs allowed according to the homepage. When asked, they said this wasn't a problem.

Were in Leipzig to visit the Battle of the Nations and wanted to go out for something to eat in the evening. On the recommendation of a local, we visited the Lerchenest. The regional dishes of Saxon black beer goulash, spiced meat and the muzbraten that a friend ate were great. The dessert, the lark's nest, was also really tasty. Had nice and very attentive service. I can only recommend it to anyone who likes good regional cuisine.

Without having to shorten my life expectancy with all sorts of cooking shows, I was able to read the menu > I was very happy! But when the Mutzbraten and roulade along with the side dishes were just as tasty as I had hoped, my delight knew no bounds! I confess that despite being a native of Leipzig for half a century, I went there for the first time - but I'll definitely be back now!

Nice little restaurant with Leipzig and German cuisine. You can sit inside as well as outside. Food tastes good and friendly service. Whenever we are in Leipzig we eat there.

Disaster! A table that was pre-booked for 12 people was not prepared. At some point, well after ordering, you notice that dishes are not available. 12 people receive their food in several stages, so that it doesn't get cold, the first plates were already empty when the other dishes arrived. Some of these came cold, some with the wrong side dishes. Instead of making themselves known, drinks were simply no longer available. Never again.

We had a very good breakfast there. It was rich and very tasty. Regional sausage and cheese, homemade jam. Warm rolls and good coffee. The service was very attentive and friendly. If we're in town again, we'll definitely come back

In my opinion, the Lark's Nest isn't bad overall, but it's not really great either. The best thing was the food, the Jägerschnitzel was solid, but could have been a little more seasoned. But you can add a little more salt. However, the food gets a star deducted because the amount of side dishes (a cut up potato) was pitiful. The ambience at our place in the interior was at best average (i.e. 3/5), as was the service. I would have liked to drink one more beer. But we sat in front of the empty glass for ten minutes, so we then looked for another restaurant.

**Very disappointing experience!** There were six of us and we wanted to order something when the waitress rudely informed us that we were not only allowed to order drinks, but also had to order food. This put us under pressure and clearly showed that the only focus here is profit. The menu was also confusing. There were two main salads and two additional options underneath. I ordered the cucumber salad and one of these options. Without any explanation, the waitress quickly confirmed "OK", only to later inform me when serving that the additional option only applied to the second salad, which I had not ordered. When I pointed this out, I got the curt response that it was my fault for misreading the menu. Overall, the service was rude and impatient, with no attempt to resolve any misunderstandings. Overpriced for such poor service. Not recommended.

Solid cuisine, unobtrusive service. What the Lark's Nest may not be able to do, but what is sometimes annoying when you're sitting outside is the smell from the sewage system. Otherwise, it's worth recommending to me, especially if you want to enjoy older GDR dishes

She was also very, very enthusiastic about her food. Unfortunately the large beer is only available in 0.4l. I had the cellar beer. I can really recommend it was very, very tasty.

We were there after visiting the zoo to end the day nicely. The Lerchennest is located right in the heart of Leipzig and is not far from the main train station, best reached on foot. Things aren't looking so good with parking spaces. The weather was lovely that day and we were able to sit outside. The service is very friendly and our orders were served quickly. A street musician also presented a musical serenade with the accordion. I ordered the Braumeister (or black beer) goulash with Saxon potato dumplings and apple red cabbage. I was absolutely thrilled 🤩. My companions also really enjoyed it. Kudos to the chef. 👍🏻 On my next visit I will choose the Lerchennest again. I can recommend this location with the best of my knowledge and belief. I wish everyone who tries out my recommendation a lot of fun and good appetite. 🙂

Nach d em Gottesdienst in der Thomaskirche wollten wir frühstücken und irrten durch die Innenstadt. Es sollte nicht viel sein — brunchen war nicht angesagt. So kamen wir am Lerchennest vorbei und warfen einen kurzen Blick in die Karte. Es war für uns ein Volltreffer, da kleinere Frühstücke angeboten wurden zu passenden Preisen. Sehr positiv überrascht waren wir dann als unser Frühstück jeweils auf einer Etagere angerichtet uns gebracht wurde. Alles sehr lecker. Nur die Wespen haben gestört, Aber das liegt grade an der Jahreszeit.

A very nice restaurant in downtown Leipzig. We decided to choose the Lerchennest in Leipzig for a business lunch this evening and were not disappointed. We received excellent service, friendly and accommodating. Saxon cuisine, Mutzbraten and Lerchenstick with homemade potato salad, everything was very tasty. Everything is perfect here. We will definitely be back.

Because it tastes particularly bad here - you can see it in the empty outdoor space - the owner has to keep the minimum passage width below the legally required width by putting up signs so that wheelchair users and people with strollers can't get through. This also causes other pedestrians to be jammed so that it is difficult to get around the signs. Of course, the far below-average cheap prices tempt some thoughtless people to eat.

What a shame. Had a very good meal there which unfortunately the server/boss ruined. During EM soccer tournament I after asking the only other table near me if it was ok, requested that the sound of the game be turned on to a level that we were speaking. Server/boss said no AND then challenged me to leave if I didn’t like it. No feel for customer service..

The girls who served us from Saturday evening to Sunday evening were totally unfriendly and unprofessional and kicked us out despite our good behavior. All other guests were allowed to stay. Only we were released from the store, even though we behaved properly and none of us did anything. Therefore a very, very bad shop and cannot be recommended for anyone coming to Leipzig. The whole thing happened from June 22nd to June 23rd. at 11:30 p.m.

Based on the reviews we made a reservation there and were rewarded, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there, the food and service were great. Beautifully located on the edge of the city center. They set the table especially festively and even congratulated my parents. All service staff are very attentive.

I was there on two consecutive days, the first day was less busy, the welcome was warm, the service was nice, the beer was tasty, the food was mediocre. On the second day there were more guests there, different service than the day before, start earlier. On the first day there was still room for fun, but on the second day not at all. I waited about 20 minutes for the bill. Other guests who went to the counter were therefore more likely to be charged. If only the first evening were included in the rating, it would be five stars for the service and three for the cuisine.

We were here in a larger group of women. The food was good and the service was quick and friendly. But the boss, managing director or owner... we don't know exactly, is a very unfriendly, unpleasant person and can hardly hide these character traits. Therefore, after this acquaintance, there will probably be no further visits to our site there.

Though our experience with service and ambience here was just fine we found the schnitzels to be just okay. In particular the one that came with pasta and a tomato sauce (Jaegerschnitzel) tasted something like fried spam and the tomato sauce was almost tasteless. My hamburger schnitzel was tasty but in a “diner food” kind of way—nothing really special. All was disappointing enough that we decided to focus on ethnic foods while in Leipzig.

The ingredients were fresh and of excellent quality, which you could taste in every bite. We would particularly like to emphasize the excellent service. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. We felt welcome and well looked after from the first moment. We were here for the first time. A positive thing to mention is that there was a high chair for the child and a children's menu with a painting option including pens. The service itself was also good, apart from several minor curses because the elevator for the food from the kitchen didn't work without problems. We waited a very long time for the food. Unfortunately 4 out of 5 meals were cold. Not cold but the dumplings, red cabbage and roulade were really cold. The food went back. It was delicious when reheated, but the first impression was simply gone. As if you had forgotten the food. However, the homemade lemonades are recommended.

We were there on Monday by pure chance and it is a very worthwhile discovery. Easily accessible in the city center, close to the train station. Small but nice. Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, and the food was great! Very tasty and very large portions, absolutely recommended.

February 3, 2024: We were invited for a birthday. 15 guests for coffee and dinner. Great service from start to finish. The food was great. Three vegetarian, one vegan dishes at a high level and the announcement that everything can be put together made the meatless heart beat faster. The food a la carte for everyone and relatively quickly one after the other was impressive. The restaurant was very busy. Full!!! Thanks to the team, I really enjoyed it as a guest. 2023: We had lunch at Lerchennest for the first time on Sunday. The food is prepared very tasty. Salads fresh and with great dressing, starters not necessary - but tasty - as the main course is served very generously. Agile, friendly and attentive staff rounded off the visit. Thank you
