A great evening with clients. The local food was excellent and very satisfying. Great central location, good food. The food was served too quickly; they should have allowed a little more time. Very friendly service. Would gladly come again.

Dinner on November 15, 2025. Cozy restaurant. The food was alright. When paying, make sure you get a receipt. We didn't ask for one, and the server added his tip to the bill beforehand. Of course, he also got a tip from us. We only noticed this afterward when we did a rough calculation. So we were quite disappointed and hadn't expected that. Zero stars for service, that's the only reason. Absolutely unacceptable. A shame for the restaurant.

We're often in Leipzig for work and were craving some good, regional German cuisine. We weren't disappointed twice in a row and would gladly come back anytime. 😇 I can wholeheartedly recommend it. The only downside is that you want to eat even when you're already bursting with fullness. 🫣😄

After a somewhat bumpy start with our server upon arrival, we felt well taken care of and it was a lovely evening with delicious food, good drinks and a wide selection of Leipziger Lerchen (a type of pastry).

Great location, but unfortunately, the service was inconsiderate. There were eight of us sitting right by the entrance, and it was quite drafty. It wasn't until we asked three times and an hour and a half later that the door was finally closed. By then, we were already sitting there with our jackets and blankets. The food tasted good, but half of it arrived cold. It was then heated up, but by then the sauce had developed a thick skin, and the meat was completely dry. The staff clearly didn't care.

Fantastic food! There were six of us, and we had calf's liver, venison goulash, grilled pork knuckle, and schnitzel. Each dish was exquisite. But the breaded venison schnitzel topped with hand cheese was a particular highlight. We'd never seen or eaten anything like it before. This dish blew us away. The service was exceptionally friendly, and the ambiance was down-to-earth yet creative, perfectly matching the menu. It's a rather small restaurant, so you should definitely make a reservation if you plan to eat there. Highly recommended!

Last night, six of us dined at this wonderful restaurant. The service was incredibly friendly and the food was superb; we'll definitely be back if we're ever in the area again. We haven't eaten this well in a long time, not even at the Lerchennest.

I visited the Lerchennest in Leipzig and was unfortunately very dissatisfied. The service was extremely unfriendly – ​​the waitress (Ines) in particular seemed annoyed and unattentive. I completely missed the friendliness and hospitality here. In addition, the restrooms were not in a clean condition, which is truly unacceptable for a restaurant. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I had hoped for much better – both in terms of service and the general ambiance. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the Lerchennest in this regard.

It looked nice from the outside, and the menu sounded delicious. Unfortunately, we sat outside at a table for over 20 minutes without a single server coming. Guests already seated went inside to pay, as they too had been waiting a long time. Then we left for another restaurant without having had anything to eat.

It was delicious, and the service was pleasant and friendly. The food was good value for money, but the price of €4.60 for a glass of tea with six fresh mint leaves is a bit excessive. I'd be happy to come back for dinner.

We had Saxon fire-roasted meat, spiced meat, and a mixed salad. The meat dishes were very tasty. The mixed salad we shared was particularly good. It was very varied, plentiful, and delicious. The house cellar beer is also excellent; all in all, a clear recommendation with very good value for money.

First of all: This is my personal experience at this restaurant. Compare it to other restaurants serving German cuisine. Comparison & Price-Performance 5/5 stars: The dishes we ate were reasonable for their price. 🍽️ Food – 4/5 stars: I had steak au four, which I was unfortunately not satisfied with. 1. The peas were almost raw and unseasoned. They could have been cooked for at least another 5 minutes. Much too hard. 2. Unfortunately, the fries were also unseasoned, but after I added salt, they were very good. 3. The steak itself was very good. PS: I almost never add seasoning because I don't like salt. But here, it was completely lacking, and pepper too. My wife had liver, which looked very good and had everything I needed. There was also plenty of sauce. 👨‍🍳 Service – 5/5 stars: The service was friendly. I have to honestly admit, I wasn't expecting something like this in a restaurant like this. There was a waiter who really knew his stuff. He explained to people at the next table from the former West Germany exactly what a Mutzbraten is, how it got its name, and how it's prepared. Sorry, I've only ever experienced this in a more upscale restaurant. 🌿 Ambience – 3/5 stars: This was our second time here and, as luck would have it, we had the same seat next to the bar. The ambiance is nice and cozy, but I didn't feel at home. 🚻 Restrooms & Accessibility: Restrooms are OK. Unfortunately, it's a bit difficult for people with walking difficulties, especially wheelchair users. I don't know if they have an accessible restroom, but unfortunately, there aren't any on the ground floor. Conclusion: I can recommend this restaurant. The price-performance ratio is good here, and in summer you can even sit outside.

Located in the heart of Leipzig's old city center, very close to Barfußgäßchen, is this cozy restaurant – wonderfully central and easy to reach. We had a truly wonderful experience there, feasting on a variety of East German specialties – everything was delicious and freshly prepared. The service deserves special mention! Young, quick-witted, and funny – simply refreshingly different. You immediately notice that the food here is prepared with passion and enthusiasm. The Lerchennest is a lovely location with rustic charm – perfect for a hearty, authentic dinner in Leipzig. We definitely recommend it!

The Leipziger Schnitzel is amazing

We decided to go there spontaneously. It was absolutely the right choice. Despite being full on a Saturday night, there was still room for us. The food was delicious and the service very friendly. We'll be back!

Highly recommended! The food is delicious and typically nostalgic, along with friendly service. The solyanka, steak au four, Ossi hunter's schnitzel, and roulades are especially worth a visit – fresh, hearty, and authentic. Anyone who enjoys traditional East German cuisine should definitely stop by.

Our impression: Expensive, the food was "OK," but at least our selection was nothing special (salad/bratwurst duo). Drink prices were far too high, and only 0.2 liters. We opted for fruity lemonades, but unfortunately, they were mineral water with syrup. They cost €6.50.

So far, it's been okay. As a group, we had to wait a relatively long time for our food. Prices are on the higher side, but the offerings are average.

Mega tasty, top service, what more could you want

The location in the pedestrian area of Leipzig's city center couldn't be better. While the interior is quite small and unspectacular, the beer garden is beautiful and pleasantly inviting in the summer. The service is quick and friendly. The young man with short dark hair, in particular, was always attentive and served the guests promptly. However, he wasn't allowed to collect the bill, which cost him the tip he actually deserved. The food is okay and meets expectations. The portion sizes vary quite a bit depending on the dish. The grilled knuckle of pork will definitely fill you up (quick tip: mustard is as important to a knuckle of pork as salt is to a breakfast egg!). The baked chicken could be a bit more generous. Regarding the garnish and the presentation, there's still room for improvement. A lot can be achieved with very little effort, such as a small salad garnish. The price-performance ratio is decent for a restaurant in this location.

The food was super tasty and well prepared! But big warning about the price of water! It was ridiculous and ultimately made the visit a flop!

There were four of us eating and we had two starters and four main courses. We waited about 35 minutes for the starters and almost 1.5 hours for the main courses. This is because after the starter has been cleared away, the main course is called, but all orders received between our order and the starter being cleared away are prepared before us. This system urgently needs to be revised!!!!! These long waits are not up to date. The food was mixed. The starters were quite good, the main courses, e.g. Wiener Schnitzel was much too thick, mashed potatoes were cold and the vegetables were completely unseasoned. There was no salt or pepper on our table to add more seasoning. We had this dish twice. The other two main courses tasted OK, but some were cold. The service was attentive (they even accommodated our request to swap side dishes without any problems, thank you), but when we asked when the food would finally arrive and that some of the meals were cold and tasteless, they were unfortunately unaccommodating. The statement: I'm not the boss and can't do anything. That's a shame. We won't be coming back.

Das Restaurant hat eine gute Lage mitten in der City und ist einfach zu erreichen. Das Personal war freundlich. Wir hatten sächsische Spezialitäten (Gulasch und Kartoffelsuppe). Beides war grundsätzlich lecker, bis auf die Fliege in der Suppe. Diese gaben wir zurück und mussten sie nicht bezahlen. Grundsätzlich passen Preis und Leistung gut zueinander. Für mehr Sterne hätten Essen und Service noch ein bisschen besser sein müssen.

The location is great, very central and close to several hotels. The view is beautiful, and you can get to some of the sights pretty quickly after dinner (if you don't prefer a nap^^). My partner let me try some of the dishes, and I would say that the starters, in particular, deserve a 10/10. The main courses were also amazing – they were also particularly generously portioned. The takeaway dessert was very nice; it gave me something delicious to eat before the drive back (and I say that as someone who doesn't really like marzipan 😅)

So, we visited Leipzig for the weekend and looked for something for dinner on Friday. And, voila, we found Lerchennest. We were escorted through the restaurant to the back, where there was a chic little area. The trainee was incredibly nice, and we were treated to very, very good food, including dessert (of course). Deciding what to eat was difficult, so we went back to the Nest on Saturday evening and were not disappointed! Same quality, friendly and fast service! 5 stars + recommendation

Unfortunately, the food was very bad. We tried the Mutzbraten and bratwurst, but both had no flavor of their own and seemed like bad cafeteria food to us. The staff was friendly and quick. The place is picturesque, but of course, they smoke outside, so you have to accept that.

I've always enjoyed eating at the Lerchennest – the food was a definite plus for me. Unfortunately, my last visit was disappointing. When it came to the bill, I was overcharged for a meal I didn't order and for a drink. Both errors were corrected, but without any apology from the service staff. The ordering and payment process was also very slow, so we had to go inside to pay ourselves. I understand that mistakes can happen. This makes a professional and respectful approach all the more important – which I unfortunately missed. It's a shame, as I've often recommended the restaurant in the past. After this experience, I won't be returning.

Top notch. The staff here does a truly remarkable job; there's absolutely nothing to complain about. The chemistry between them is instant; they're incredibly attentive, fast, and very friendly. There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from. Our meals arrived after a good wait. The portion sizes were perfectly adequate and they tasted very good. The best part was my cold dog for dessert, which I managed to get. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Lerchennest. P.S.: Thanks for the batteries 💓

The atmosphere in this area, with its many restaurants, can be soaked up and enjoyed outside. The seating is comfortable with cushions. It's also a pleasant place to sit in the evenings. Blankets are available if you get a little cold. Large parasols have been set up. Heaters can also provide warmth outside. The restaurant has a pleasant, stylish ambiance inside, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.

Great café/restaurant, centrally located yet a bit away from the hustle and bustle. Delicious Saxon specialties at reasonable prices, very friendly service – thanks also to Aaliyah for the attentive service! Be sure to check out the back area and the romantic courtyard!

The service was ok nothing special. The food was yummy, the kids menu pasta with tomato sauce was nothing special but our daughter like it. The kids menu of snitzel with baked potato aslo nothing special. I had order pork nucle was great, crispy skin and tender inside. The goulas taste also good. The strawbery lemonade taste lovely. The price was normal.

The food was excellent, accompanied by a wonderful glass of rosé wine. Finally, we were treated to the delicious cream puffs, which will be added to the menu from now on. Homemade, of course! A definite recommendation.

The sauerbraten wasn't tasty. The dumplings were worse than the supermarket ones and were dry. The vegan burger was completely burnt and inedible. The cellar beer was good.

Waiters have no idea what they do. Ordered a soup, a main report and a wine. At first nothing arrived, then the soup at the same time as the main course and a few minutes later the wine. I sent the main course back. Plates are very hot, like they came out of the microwave. This may be well-intentioned, but it looks suspiciously like it would be ready-made food. The waiter puts away the dirty napkin between the soup and the main course, but doesn't bring a new one with the main course. Description of the wine does not match its taste, in my opinion. Expensive prices but performance not that good...

I still had a bit of time to kill and stopped here early for a coffee. The service was very quick and friendly and the coffee was delicious. In particular, the very young waitress named Elena sweetened my time with her charm and wit. Thank you very much for that!

The Lerchennest impresses with excellent food, prepared with great love for Saxon cuisine. The dishes tasted excellent and were served fresh - a culinary delight that I can highly recommend. The ambience is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed visit to the restaurant. The staff was friendly and accommodating, which made the stay pleasant. A small suggestion for improvement: I would have liked a little more proactivity from the service staff, for example asking if I would like to drink something else when my drink was empty. Overall, a very nice experience that I would happily recommend and repeat on my next visit to Leipzig.

Leider wurde am Ende zu viel berechnet, und trotz Nachfrage wurden die einzelnen Posten auf der Rechnung nicht im Detail erklärt. Das trübt den ansonsten positiven Eindruck etwas. Schade, denn Service und Qualität stimmen – aber Transparenz bei der Abrechnung ist ebenso wichtig.

Nice restaurant on the edge of Leipzig's hopelessly overcrowded "Fressmeile". The food was really excellent and very authentic! We were there at peak time at 7 p.m. in the evening, so the ladies weren't that attentive sometimes, which was a bit of a shame. However, this was made up for by the young waiter. So friendly and hard-working, it's rare! Compliments to the young man!

We were in the Lerchennest on Friday with 7 people. It is centrally located and can be reached on foot from the train station. The service was very friendly and the food was very tasty. We felt in good hands. We'd love to come back.

Cozy atmosphere. We made ourselves comfortable outside under the patio heater. Ordering drinks and getting them served went quite well. After the food was ordered we were simply ignored for 45 minutes. Without getting food and/or being informed what the problem is. Paid for drinks and didn't wait for food. After we asked the blonde waitress that we thought the approach was semi-good, we were talked out of it and responded snippy. Too bad.

We had reserved a table for 6 p.m. and were looking forward to a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, it didn't pan out. The table we were assigned was right by the stairs to the upstairs dining room. It was drafty, and I didn't think it was a particularly good spot for a reservation. We asked the waitress, Katrin, if we could sit upstairs, which she agreed to. Elena was in charge of us upstairs. We had already placed our order downstairs. Drinks came quickly, but unfortunately, the food didn't. We had the Saxon tapas menu. One course arrived, the rest took a while. Two hours and 45 minutes passed before we had the entire meal! As an apology, they said there were only two people in the kitchen. After asking again and again, they finally offered us a shot of schnapps on the house. But that didn't help either. They should think about hiring more staff, both in service and in the kitchen. The quality of the food was good, but not outstanding. We will definitely not be visiting the Lerchennest again; there are better restaurants in Leipzig.

My visit was about 3 months ago and I was there for lunch. I think the concept with regional and seasonal dishes is nice. I would say fine home cooking. The food was really good and the service was great. I thought it was a shame that the seating was very narrow, but the view through the large window at the front was nice! I also find the narrow and unexciting vegetarian and vegan cuisine a shame, but that's the case almost everywhere. Definitely recommended for meat eaters!

So this was my third time here as a vegan eater. The vegan burger is a hit. But this time the service almost didn't work at all. 😳 After eating we sat in front of our plates and empty glasses and we weren't even asked if we wanted something else to drink. We could have raised our hands, that's clear, but that we were left sitting there like that... Sad. 😑 (we're talking about half an hour) Doesn't matter. All of us, 11 people, didn't give a tip. To pay you have to go downstairs and block the path 😐 (rarely stupid) Otherwise the food is great 👍

Despite reservations, we were told the wait would be an hour and a half. The reaction to our lack of understanding was an insult that would be censored here. We were physically harassed by the waiter. Are shocked. Have never experienced anything like this anywhere.

Since we had reserved a table in advance, we were looking forward to a cozy evening at the turn of the year. Now we went to dinner on December 31st, 2024 but unfortunately our expectations were disappointed. The atmosphere was really not nice, we all had cold food. Staff was totally unmotivated or annoyed. We cannot recommend it and will not come back.

We were there in the evening. The quality of the dishes (mutzbraten / ox cheeks) were good to very good in terms of taste. The portions were ok. Unfortunately, the side salad was not served and there could have been a little more sauce. The drink prices are annoying. A 0.4 liter draft beer costs 5.50! That's way too expensive. The food prices are also a bit too high. 65 euros for two main courses with 2 glasses of wine and 1 beer. The service is tough but warm. The ambience is quite simple.

You can spend a nice time in the small guest room with an interior that is conducive to the name. When it comes to dishes, we can highly recommend half duck and the cream of porcini mushroom soup. There is also a little surprise from the house for children.
