Initially, there were some difficulties due to a staff meeting, and no service was in sight. I looked for the staff, but then everything went well. A quiet atmosphere, very nice inside, although the outdoor area could be more uniformly tidy and set up. The food was good to very good, but the service was a bit inattentive at first. Our family was satisfied, and we would gladly return. Thank you very much.

Unfortunately, it was disappointing for us: We had to wait over an hour for dinner, the red cabbage tasted like frozen food, the dumplings tasted bland, and the gravy was watery – disappointing. I can't recommend it. The only thing was that the service was very friendly and attentive.

Located in the heart of the city center and quietly situated, Barthels Hof is a gem that everyone should visit. City tours also pass by the picturesque passageway of Barthels Hof. Upon arrival, you are greeted very warmly and shown to a table. The lunch menu from Monday to Friday is particularly noteworthy. It's affordable and varied, with three dishes to choose from. In addition to seasonal dishes and a small menu, they also offer rooms for hire. From a gastronomic perspective, the rest of the menu is comparable to fine dining and is accordingly priced and of reasonable quality. The overall package of service, food, and speed was very commendable and professional to boot. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it, especially for groups with special requests. Don't be afraid to ask. The team at Barthels Hof is highly recommended!

We were a group of nine, had a reservation, and were able to sit outside. We all had different dishes, and everyone loved them. According to our friends, the desserts were also fantastic, although I unfortunately didn't have room for dessert after the Mutzbraten. Extremely friendly service. The interior is very stylish. We were there for lunch with our bus group on Friday, August 15, 2025. The meal was scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Our group's meal was served at 1:15 p.m., 45 minutes later than planned. Since we had another program afterward, the group only had 30 minutes to eat. Unfortunately, this wasn't an isolated incident! We were also there with a bus group on July 23, 2025. It was the same on that date. Therefore, we rate it "Not recommended for groups!"

What an incredible surprise!! We were looking for a gasthaus for a German dinner and arrived in a beautiful, ancient courtyard with wooden tables, where Barthels Hof is located. It was 7:30 PM, so the friendly and courteous staff seated us right away. The menu isn't extensive, but it's excellent. We ordered three soups (one was off-menu), a chanterelle cream with goat's cheese, and a lamb dish, all washed down with an excellent beer. Since the dishes were not only delicious but also incredibly generous, we ordered a dessert to share (a crepe with strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries). We spent almost €30 each, but each drank about two pints of beer. In short, the place is charming, the dishes delicious, the staff fantastic, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended.

I celebrated my 60th birthday with 40 people at Barthels Hof: A great location in the heart of the city with outdoor options; we were provided with a large room for up to 60 people with direct access to a spacious, private area in the beautiful courtyard of the historic building. There were more than enough waiters on hand to serve our guests at all times. After dinner, we had exclusive access to two waiters, Anja and Mohammad, for the rest of the evening (until 2:45 a.m.), who did an outstanding job. Thanks to all the Barthels Hof staff involved, it was a thoroughly successful event. Regardless of the uncertainties regarding the weather or the final number of guests, the utmost accommodatingness and relaxed flexibility were maintained right up to the last minute. Conclusion: If you're looking for an open-ended, outdoor party in the heart of the city, with music (DJ SuK in our case), delicious food, and great service, I highly recommend this place!

We were tourists in Leipzig – and we've never eaten as badly as here. The chanterelle mushrooms with wide noodles came with a kind of spaetzle, in a creamy sauce, and they tasted neither fresh nor like chanterelles at all. The chanterelle soup was also flavorless. The roulade? Convenience food, probably from a can, certainly not freshly rolled. The dumplings appeared to be from a bag. No handcrafting by the kitchen... The service was friendly and attentive, but that didn't make up for it.

We visited this restaurant during our visit to Leipzig because of the good reviews. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The price-performance ratio here is absolutely not right. The starter, for just under €13, was more than disappointing, and the main courses were also very bland. For these prices, we would have hoped for a bit more pizzazz. Unfortunately, we left the restaurant hungry. The service was friendly, and the seating was comfortable. If the food doesn't taste good, it's just not worth it...

The price-performance ratio for the appetizer variation isn't right. A Sauerbraten should melt in your mouth. The chef could be a little more inventive, it could be spicier. Better a little less salt in the Gose beer and a little more in the food.

We enjoyed lunch at the Barthelshof in Leipzig and can highly recommend the restaurant. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Although the restaurant was only being used by one other guest during our visit, we were greeted very warmly by the lady at the front desk. She immediately brought us the menus and drinks and was always available to assist us during our stay. We chose a regionally produced drink, which tasted very good. For our starter, we opted for the potato soup, which was creamy with a lovely sausage garnish and perfectly prepared with fresh herbs. The soup was served in a generous portion – you can choose between a small bowl or a terrine. Our main courses were Sauerbraten (sauerbraten) and roulades with red cabbage and dumplings – all excellently prepared and very tasty. Overall, the meal was a well-rounded affair, with everything just right. We skipped dessert because we were so full. I would particularly like to emphasize the friendly service and the lovely ambiance of the inn. The food was a real highlight for me personally – I can highly recommend the Barthelshof. Five stars are absolutely justified in my opinion. A particular highlight is the potato soup – an absolute must for all lovers of good home cooking!

Located in the center of town, yet still very quiet in a backyard. Even in the height of summer, you can have a great lunch there. You can sit outside in the wonderful shade. The food is excellent, and so is the service.

The food we ordered was freshly prepared and arrived at the table hot. Conclusion If you love tradition and want to visit these passages and courtyards in Leipzig, you can't ignore Bartelshof.

Wir haben ein Leipziger Allerlei bekommen, das war so lecker, so frisch gekocht und gesund. Das Personal total freundlich und hat auch gut bzgl. des passenden Weines beraten. I used to frequent Barthels Hof and was always very satisfied. Unfortunately, much of the charm of years past is gone. We waited 10 minutes in the entrance alone and probably would have waited even longer if we hadn't spoken to someone after someone walked past us five times. The food was varied; some of it was good, but on the other hand, I didn't like the Sauerbraten, at least, which is always a matter of taste. For me, Sauerbraten has to be sour, and the meat should more or less fall apart. The red cabbage was also too underseasoned for my liking. The dessert selection is very limited, although the lava cake was very good. I was really looking forward to the visit for my birthday and was a little sad afterward.

The Barthels Hof restaurant was once one of the trade fair city's noble addresses. Unfortunately, not much of this reputation has survived. Even on holidays such as Easter you can easily stop in without a reservation. That's something to think about. The ambience is appealing. The attempt to impress with Saxon gibberish on the menu seems rather ridiculous. The widely advertised Saxon specialties were completely unknown to me and my table companions, all of whom were born Saxons. The meal itself wasn't exactly what would elicit much applause. Mediocre would probably be the appropriate term for what was on the plate, both in terms of taste and arrangement. However, there is insufficient service. We hadn't yet sat down when we were asked what we would like to drink. We chose a good red wine from the Saxon winery Schloss Proschwitz. However, it was brought in a carafe full to the brim, which is unsettling The waitress had obvious problems serving. A few splashes of the noble drink promptly landed on my white trousers. Very annoying. After that, no service staff was seen during the meal. This may have been our last visit to Barthel's farm. Too bad!

Very nice, traditional restaurant in the middle of the city

Aus einem stringenten klassischen, regionalen Angebot fanden wir schnell zwei gut Essen, die uns äußerst freundlich serviert wurden. Es schien, als waren wir in der Gesellschaft von Stammgästen und der Aufenthalt setzte sich angenehm von den eher touristischen (und ein paar Euro günstigeren) Lokalen in der näheren Umgebung ab. Baulich hat Barthels Hof eine sehr schöne Substanz, die gekonnt beleuchtet ist. Allein die Wandbemalung wirkte auf uns als völliger Fehlgriff, schlichter und einfach uni überstrichen würde der Gastraum gewinnen.

Unfortunately the food is not recommended. Beef roulade and dumplings were ok, the sauce was meaningless. The herb-crusted catfish had no herbs in the crust, just breadcrumbs. The beetroot potato compote lacked beetroot and the potatoes were "tasteless". Too bad

Typical Saxon cuisine at reasonable prices and a suitable ambience. The Mutzbraten on the spit was great, but everyone else in our group of five was also impressed by their braised or vegetarian dishes. Everything hearty and tailored to Luther's times. Recommendation!

Wir haben einen gemütlichen Abend mit feinstem Essen und super Service im Barthels Hof verbracht. Mein Partner wählte den Tafelspitz mit Kartoffelbaumkuchen, diesen kosteten wir zum 1.Mal und es war ein Geschmackserlebnis. Ich selber hatte den Sauerbraten mit Rotkohl und Kartoffelklössen, auch lecker. Die Desserts ,Quarkkeulchen und Leipziger Lerche, waren ein Gedicht. Alles war liebevoll angerichtet. Der junge Mann im Service war ausserordentlich aufmerksam und v.a. sehr ehrlich, so machte er uns darauf aufmerksam, dass wohl ein Scheinchen zuviel ins Trinkgeld geflossen ist, wo sonst findet man solche Ehrlichkeit heute noch, herzlichen Dank! Bei einem nächsten Besuch in Leipzig kommen wir bestimmt wieder und wir können den Barthels Hof nur wärmstens empfehlen.

Get hearty home cooking delivered to your home. It doesn't get any better. Unfortunately, German cuisine is rarely available from the relevant delivery services. And then it's mostly just ready-made food with lots of E's and garlic powder as an amplifier. It's different for you. Everything freshly cooked. Please stay with us. Delivery via UberEats would still be good.

We are super happy that you can order from you, even in the afternoon hours. We often don't make it to our lunch break on time because of a lot of concentrated work. It's a dream that you offer this and also cook freshly. Keep it up :)

We cannot confirm the negative reviews. I would call it an all-round carefree package. From the service, drinks, starters, main course, dessert, everything was great. We would be happy to come back. We had saddle of lamb, very tasty.

The ambience is great and the service is friendly and attentive. However, the chef is in a different mood here because the food was rather bland. The liver was more than well fried on one side. The vegetarian dish was very straightforward, similar to the dessert. A club of quark, some cream and a scoop of ice cream for €9.90 is simply expensive. Otherwise you get at least 2 curds for the money. All in all, a repetition doesn't have to be necessary.

It was the perfect end to our extended Leipzig week. You enter the restaurant and are greeted in a friendly manner. That's a good start. The ambience is stylish and comfortable. The menu first makes a foreigner smile (because of the Saxon terms) and then makes your mouth water. Everything was right, everything was perfect. But the crowning glory of the whole thing was that we were served by the enchantingly authentic, super friendly and incredibly competent Anja. Thank you for a great ending. Delicious food and great service

We had reserved a table with friends for Saturday evening. We were warmly welcomed. Drinks came relatively quickly. The food came promptly, but it was more than disappointing for such a place. It should be sauerbraten. In the middle of the plate was a mountain of red cabbage that had no taste because it was probably just warmed up from the jar. Three thin slices of meat that wasn't really sauerbraten. The two dumplings were no bigger than ping pong balls. This was the large plate for €24.10. One less dumpling and one less slice of meat was available for €19.30. Red wine sauce? I think it was a ready-made sauce, at least that's how it tasted. Spices on the table? None. The service, two girls in their 3rd year of training, were very nice and attentive. Conclusion ! we won't go there again. a shame for such a house.

We were at the restaurant for Christmas dinner. Mr. Grahl was friendly about arranging an appointment, but unfortunately it wasn't nice on site. Finding the restaurant is a task in itself... I didn't like the decor at all, very rustic and cold. The waiting times were okay, but we initially had to wait quite a while because some guests arrived late. Our food was mediocre and not what you would hope for during the holidays. Sometimes the meat was tough or the roast was cold. There was no special touch or presentation, which was a shame.

We were in the inn as a family on December 25th, 2024. Disappointment right from the start. The menu has been reduced to a so-called small evening menu. Reason: lack of staff. A single Christmas dish, roast goose for 36 euros. 3 stews that were prepared days before, a fish dish, a few salads. That's why I don't go to a pub at Christmas. The kitchen has probably not only run out of staff, but also salt and spices. Everything was bland in taste and the portions were small, a shame. Barthels Hof: never again!

Our Christmas dinner today was very disappointing. The chicken broth tasted like the ready-made powder broth from the supermarket and the supposed vegetable pearls were just a millimeter in size and definitely from the freezer. The goose leg was good, the breast was only a slice, the red cabbage was ok but the dumplings were firm on the inside, dry and lacked salt, the sauce was thin and without much taste and everything was only lukewarm. I would have liked to have salted but there was nothing on the table and the waiters never asked how it tasted or even talked to us except to pick up drinks and even then they only visited us once. The "warm" chocolate cake was pre-bought and cold and the parfait had ice crystals. I was very disappointed because the pictures here from the others look so good and our menu looked carelessly thrown out. Unfortunately I would have expected something better for the price.

After visiting the Christmas market, we (4 people) stopped by here - since the restaurant was busy, we were sent away 40 minutes before our reservation time + even at our time there was no table available + we had to wait in the entrance area > that wasn't a good start, This could certainly have been solved differently!! - the service staff were attentive, quick and took the time to give appropriate advice over the aperitif - the food was rich and tasty - price/performance was completely acceptable
