Wir haben einen gemütlichen Abend mit feinstem Essen und super Service im Barthels Hof verbracht. Mein Partner wählte den Tafelspitz mit Kartoffelbaumkuchen, diesen kosteten wir zum 1.Mal und es war ein Geschmackserlebnis. Ich selber hatte den Sauerbraten mit Rotkohl und Kartoffelklössen, auch lecker. Die Desserts ,Quarkkeulchen und Leipziger Lerche, waren ein Gedicht. Alles war liebevoll angerichtet. Der junge Mann im Service war ausserordentlich aufmerksam und v.a. sehr ehrlich, so machte er uns darauf aufmerksam, dass wohl ein Scheinchen zuviel ins Trinkgeld geflossen ist, wo sonst findet man solche Ehrlichkeit heute noch, herzlichen Dank! Bei einem nächsten Besuch in Leipzig kommen wir bestimmt wieder und wir können den Barthels Hof nur wärmstens empfehlen.

We are super happy that you can order from you, even in the afternoon hours. We often don't make it to our lunch break on time because of a lot of concentrated work. It's a dream that you offer this and also cook freshly. Keep it up :)

Get hearty home cooking delivered to your home. It doesn't get any better. Unfortunately, German cuisine is rarely available from the relevant delivery services. And then it's mostly just ready-made food with lots of E's and garlic powder as an amplifier. It's different for you. Everything freshly cooked. Please stay with us. Delivery via UberEats would still be good.

Staff very friendly. Main course delicious. I had imagined the starter to be a little different (see pictures). Unfortunately the lamb's lettuce was not washed enough. Too bad.

We cannot confirm the negative reviews. I would call it an all-round carefree package. From the service, drinks, starters, main course, dessert, everything was great. We would be happy to come back. We had saddle of lamb, very tasty.

The ambience is great and the service is friendly and attentive. However, the chef is in a different mood here because the food was rather bland. The liver was more than well fried on one side. The vegetarian dish was very straightforward, similar to the dessert. A club of quark, some cream and a scoop of ice cream for €9.90 is simply expensive. Otherwise you get at least 2 curds for the money. All in all, a repetition doesn't have to be necessary.

It was the perfect end to our extended Leipzig week. You enter the restaurant and are greeted in a friendly manner. That's a good start. The ambience is stylish and comfortable. The menu first makes a foreigner smile (because of the Saxon terms) and then makes your mouth water. Everything was right, everything was perfect. But the crowning glory of the whole thing was that we were served by the enchantingly authentic, super friendly and incredibly competent Anja. Thank you for a great ending. You are a true figurehead for Leipzig.

Delicious food and great service

We had reserved a table with friends for Saturday evening. We were warmly welcomed. Drinks came relatively quickly. The food came promptly, but it was more than disappointing for such a place. It should be sauerbraten. In the middle of the plate was a mountain of red cabbage that had no taste because it was probably just warmed up from the jar. Three thin slices of meat that wasn't really sauerbraten. The two dumplings were no bigger than ping pong balls. This was the large plate for €24.10. One less dumpling and one less slice of meat was available for €19.30. Red wine sauce? I think it was a ready-made sauce, at least that's how it tasted. Spices on the table? None. The service, two girls in their 3rd year of training, were very nice and attentive. Conclusion ! we won't go there again. a shame for such a house.

A really, really good restaurant with really, really good food! There's little to complain about! The waiter was super nice and friendly, and the welcome from the boss was also really nice. The food and drinks were great. I only imagined the goat cheese to be different (but that's a matter of taste)! I would recommend it to everyone!

We were at the restaurant for Christmas dinner. Mr. Grahl was friendly about arranging an appointment, but unfortunately it wasn't nice on site. Finding the restaurant is a task in itself... I didn't like the decor at all, very rustic and cold. The waiting times were okay, but we initially had to wait quite a while because some guests arrived late. Our food was mediocre and not what you would hope for during the holidays. Sometimes the meat was tough or the roast was cold. There was no special touch or presentation, which was a shame.

We were in the inn as a family on December 25th, 2024. Disappointment right from the start. The menu has been reduced to a so-called small evening menu. Reason: lack of staff. A single Christmas dish, roast goose for 36 euros. 3 stews that were prepared days before, a fish dish, a few salads. That's why I don't go to a pub at Christmas. The kitchen has probably not only run out of staff, but also salt and spices. Everything was bland in taste and the portions were small, a shame. Barthels Hof: never again!

Our Christmas dinner today was very disappointing. The chicken broth tasted like the ready-made powder broth from the supermarket and the supposed vegetable pearls were just a millimeter in size and definitely from the freezer. The goose leg was good, the breast was only a slice, the red cabbage was ok but the dumplings were firm on the inside, dry and lacked salt, the sauce was thin and without much taste and everything was only lukewarm. I would have liked to have salted but there was nothing on the table and the waiters never asked how it tasted or even talked to us except to pick up drinks and even then they only visited us once. The "warm" chocolate cake was pre-bought and cold and the parfait had ice crystals. I was very disappointed because the pictures here from the others look so good and our menu looked carelessly thrown out. Unfortunately I would have expected something better for the price.

After visiting the Christmas market, we (4 people) stopped by here - since the restaurant was busy, we were sent away 40 minutes before our reservation time + even at our time there was no table available + we had to wait in the entrance area > that wasn't a good start, This could certainly have been solved differently!! - the service staff were attentive, quick and took the time to give appropriate advice over the aperitif - the food was rich and tasty - price/performance was completely acceptable

We had reserved with a larger group and got three tables in the basement, so we were almost among ourselves. The service was very nice, the menu offered something for everyone, senior portions are also possible, regional drinks of beer, wine and spirits round off the offer. "Only" 4 points because of the basement, it's definitely better to sit upstairs. 4 points for the food, which could use a bit of color in terms of decoration. But it was tasty in any case.

Good, regional, hearty specialties of German cuisine, which in some areas (in Leipzig there is still a choice) only a few places offer. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. I smiled at the Saxon menu... the service was very accommodating. Unfortunately, we were unlucky that a large group of Freiburgers also wanted to eat here before the football. This made it very loud. We'll come back when we can sit outside in the beautiful courtyard.

We were here for the first time today because it feels like it is the only restaurant in Leipzig where “Leipziger Allerlei” is on the menu. The service was friendly and accommodating. Yesterday was my third visit to this family-owned inn. The menu is pleasantly large and offers enough choice, offers that change depending on the season and something that is not on the menu is always suggested to you. The food was excellent across the board, the portions were a good size and the prices were definitely reasonable. The incredibly attentive and friendly waitress deserves special praise. Here is someone who knows and can do what he does, has standards for himself and radiates joy while doing it. In general, from the time we entered the house until we left we felt valued and in good hands. Thank you!

I don't think I've ever eaten so well in Germany! The main course (Würzig gekräuterter Schweinenacken in Kümmelsoße) and the dessert (Original Leipziger Lerche) were wonderful!!! Getting up at night. Old and charming restaurant with a large outdoor seating area in an old courtyard in the center of Leipzig and easy to reach on foot, about 5-10 minutes from Goerdelerring or 15-20 from the train station. Historic inn with Leipzig specialties!!! Recommended!!! A successful evening in the great ambience of the historic inner courtyard and 500-year-old restaurant, top cuisine and attentive, friendly service. Very good value for money for high quality food and the taste…world class. We had the lamb fillet and the veal liver. For that alone we will come back and happily recommend it.

Wir wollten im Rahmen des Länderspiels die sächsische Küche probieren und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Hatten Sauer- und Mutzbraten, war sehr lecker 😋 die Bedienung war ein Träumchen trotz einer Veranstaltung im Innenraum sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist top und die Lage zentral, trotzdem entspannt und sehr empfehlenswert 🙋‍♀️

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, but it was such a negative experience that I will take with me from Leipzig. We ordered a table especially for Saturday and we arrived on time. But we were very disappointed there was no table for us. Apparently I should call again and confirm it. But that was never mentioned. I was even there in person the day before and asked for the business card. If something comes up we can cancel. We were then sat down in the basement, which was the last cat table. So we were totally disappointed and can't recommend it for that reason

Good selection of Saxon dishes, including Leipziger Allerlei based on an old recipe. The vegetarian dishes are also good. The service employee was excellent, very friendly, very competent. The ambience matches the dishes and vice versa. Really not a tourist trap, not even for the WGT. Thank you for everything.

Unfortunately a complete failure. Waited more than 40 minutes for the food and then it was served with parsley contrary to my order. This shouldn't happen in a good restaurant. At the next table there was a similar situation with a burnt dish, this couple then ate one after the other instead of together. Unfortunately, my wife's Leipziger Allerlei, which was highly advertised on the menu, turned out to be a rather sub-par affair.

Very friendly and very fine food. The ladies and gentlemen in service were friendly and funny. We all enjoyed the food very much and the price was also great. We were allowed to take a small dog in with us and despite having to wait a bit we were entertained. Gladly again!

We wanted to end our visit to Leipzig with a delicious meal. I myself had the schnitzel with fried potatoes and mushrooms, we waited over an hour for this combination. The meat was good but the preparation was more like a snack bar. The breading was covered in old burnt residue from the schnitzels before it and tasted like burnt fat. The fried potatoes were soft and fatty. Conclusion Even for good home cooking there is still room for improvement. We sat downstairs and were able to watch the kitchen. I would say that even if the restaurant is full, something shouldn't always burn on the stove. These scents then traveled to the tables outside. Then we saw the toilets, clean so far. But if a toilet user didn't close the door properly, you could watch everything from the table. Conclusion: the visit to the restaurant was not the crowning conclusion of the evening.

Tucked away in a beautiful backyard. Very nice staff, rustic furnishings and the food was great. I ate potato pancakes with salmon and it was delicious. Homemade horseradish cream, the salad with a mustard dressing, lovingly prepared. The price is quite reasonable, but expensive.

Simply great, you can still get good German food here, with good portion sizes. There is also the best service I have experienced in a long time. Perfect if you want something quieter and not touristy. 👍🏻

Das Restaurant lebt davon, dass es sächsisches Flair vermittelt und regionale Küche anbietet. Es handelt sich um gutbürgerliche Küche, nicht um Spitzengastronomie. Die Erwartungshaltung darf also nicht allzu hoch geschraubt sein. Schön wäre es, wenn auch das Personal sächsisch sprechen würde. Heute muss man aber schon froh sein, wenn es deutsch spricht. Der Kellner, der uns bedient hat, war Berliner und hat seinen Job insgesamt gut gemacht. Bei der Vorspeise fiel meine Wahl auf die Kartoffelsuppe. Beim Hauptgericht habe ich mich für den Tafelspitz entschieden. Beides war sowohl geschmacklich als auch vom Preis her in Ordnung. Die Flasche Wein, die wir an diesem Abend getrunken haben, war ein Grauburgunder vom Weingut Jan Ulrich in Nünchritz (Landkreis Meißen), also ebenfalls aus Sachsen. Auch der Wein passte in das Gesamtbild: gut, solide, aber kein Spitzenwein. Fazit: Der Barthels Hof ist eine gute Wahl für diejenigen, die Leipzig besuchen und die sächsische Küche erleben wollen. Wie immer, empfiehlt sich ein vorheriger Blick auf die Speisekarte im Internet.
