My wife and I spent our wedding anniversary today with Monsieur Le Moissonnier and the bistro team. We've been looking forward to this day for several months, and our expectations were not only met but far exceeded. Not only by the warm welcome from Madame Le Moissonnier and the young waitress, who always attentively attended to our well-being with a friendly smile, but also by the excellent wine pairing with the meal. The meal itself is absolutely outstanding, from the quality of the ingredients to the refined flavors – I'd like to mention that the cod risotto was the absolute best risotto of my life. The dry-aged steak was tender as butter and perfectly seasoned. The farewell was absolutely charming (a farewell from Monsieur Le Moissonnier), and we hope to experience this break from everyday life many more times!

It's a bit like a journey back in time to the last century, when haute cuisine was still French and there were no minimalist, colorful plates inspired by molecular gastronomy. But it's by no means out of date. Straight forward with oysters, quail, and excellent side kicks, served in a more traditional style. In a beautiful dining room with a patina, and under the attentive accompaniment of experienced hosts with a relaxed French touch. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. Recommended: the entertaining book accompanying the visit by host Vincent Moissonnier.

I fondly remember my first meal at Le Moissonnier last week. Everything was absolutely perfect. The welcome was warm, the atmosphere pleasant and promising, and the promise was kept. No frills, as is so often the case, everything en pointe, a culinary delight, a truly wonderful experience, all firmly grounded. The champagne at the start, the entire menu, the wine recommendation—I ate like a king in France. Not a single disappointment—I'll be back.

Thank you so much for today's wonderful lunch. My husband invited me to the bistro for my birthday, making a long-held dream come true. Not only was there a little birthday decoration, which I was delighted to receive, but I also felt like I was showered with kindness and compliments. The service and ambiance made my birthday perfect, and the food had me dancing in my seat. I had the fish soup for starters and the salt marsh lamb with licorice jus for the main course. My husband had the tuna on puff pastry and the entrecot with béarnaise sauce. Everything was fantastic, delicious, appetizingly presented, and every superlative I can think of. My only criticism is that I was so full that I couldn't fit in dessert, even with the best will in the world. That will come on my next visit. Many thanks to the team at Le Moissonnier and, of course, to my husband ❤️

Two of us went for lunch and both had the set menu with wine pairing—a very good choice because you don't have to worry about which wine pairs with which course. The house selection was harmonious and perfectly complemented the menu of mackerel/smoked eel, cod, and salt marsh lamb. For dessert (tiramisu), we had an espresso, which was served a little later with dessert upon request, so we could digest and relax. We left the bistro full but not oversatiated, feeling cheerfully satisfied after a brief chat with the chef. The service was friendly, very attentive, and diplomatic ("Most of our guests don't recognize the butter knife..."), which makes it easy to dine there even without much experience in Michelin-starred restaurants. Overall, high praise goes to Vincent and Liliane Moissonnier, Eric Menchon and his team, and to the service. We would gladly return.

First-class! What a treat! Les vendredies de Moissonier are a must for every gourmet visiting Cologne or living in Cologne (as you'll discover when you're there). From A for aperitif to Z for numbers, it's pure fun. Friendly and relaxed. Here, it's all about the food, not the fuss. The menu is fixed, but can be expanded to include seafood and/or foie gras. A carefully selected wine pairing is offered. The (impressive, French-accented) wine list is also available upon request. Why isn't there a restaurant like this more often/everywhere?

When discussing the culinary history of the city of Cologne, the name Le Moissonnier inevitably comes up – and more than once. Located between Ebertplatz and Hansaring, this hidden gem is a gastronomic enclave that has long since become known far beyond the city limits. Entering the restaurant, you might think for a moment you're in Paris – or perhaps in one of those charming bistros in Normandy? The closely spaced tables leave little room for privacy, and yet that feels exactly right. Because this place is made for encounters – with classic dishes, with special wines, and not least with your neighbor, who might have an anecdote or two to share about the restaurant, Maître Moissonnier, or their own life. Your gaze wanders around the room, over clearly arranged plates that are neither too opulent and lost in detail, nor too minimalist and lacking character. Finely curated wines can be found on the numerous pages of the wine list. A glance across the tables reveals a few bottles with a great reputation. From Château Latour to wines from Burgundy to delicate wines from Roussillon. Here, drinking is like eating – with a clear conscience and high standards of quality. For some guests, the narrow space may seem crowded and hectic – and yes, that's undeniable. But that's precisely the soul of a restaurant like this. It's the experience that counts. The vibrancy. The atmosphere. And the knowledge that nothing is left to chance. Le Moissonnier isn't a place that's constantly reinventing itself. Rather, it's a place that hasn't improved for decades – but has stayed better. A piece of France in the middle of Cologne. Excellent cooking meets wonderful products. Taste wise it was a revelation. We were pleasantly surprised by the combination of the veal tartare and the chicken liver mousse. Finely crafted, very airy and lightly whipped. Incredibly delicious. We'd love to come back.

You don't come to this restaurant by accident, no - you want to go here and you won't be disappointed. Since you are working in two batches, it may be that the batch is a bit unconventional. But Madame is very friendly here and explains how it works. In general, you can immediately tell from the service that the guest is king here if they behave accordingly and respect the work of the service. Everyone is very friendly and professional. We really liked the menu and, to top it all off, it tasted very good. The kitchen did a very good job and we were completely satisfied. It should be clear to everyone who comes here that such good work obviously has its price. But there is also something on offer. We'll be back.

Familiar, relaxed friendly and very charming, we felt very welcome and more in Paris than in Cologne. The boss gave me excellent advice when it came to choosing the wine. After a short description of the preferred taste, we were served a Chardonnay that was perfect for us (not everyone can manage that) Everything we ate was of the highest quality. This month the two of us were at "Le Moissonnier". We chose the 4-course lunch menu with wine accompaniment. We had an aperitif beforehand. This was already in the higher price segment for one. However, the taste was absolutely not tasty, reminiscent of a normal rosé sparkling wine with a cherry in it. Now about the service. This changed constantly during our visit, which was not pleasant. In addition, the wine for the next course was already served, even though the wine glass from the previous course was far from being drunk. Firstly, this is not conducive to the comfort and cultured dining, and it also fills up the already small tables. Friendliness was given, but it was cleared up late, although the possibility had already existed several times before, if there was sufficient attention. The host, Mr. Moissonnier, clearly differentiated between regular customers and newer guests and only visited their tables. This probably doesn't reflect the behavior of a good host who is interested in gaining new regular customers. When clearing the dishes at the end, Mr. Moissonnier didn't even ask how we liked the 4-course menu, which was a shame and not very polite. The focus of the visit was of course the food. We were very curious to see whether the cuisine would live up to its reputation and also the higher level of cuisine to which "Le Moissonnier" certainly counts itself. We must come to the conclusion that this is definitely not the case. All of the dishes that were served to us as part of the 4-course menu were not hot, but rather lukewarm. Something that sounds trivial, but should and should not occur at this level, no at any restaurant level. In addition, the dishes in the courses were not tasty or put together harmoniously. It tasted much more bland and not very meaningful. We even let one course go back completely, which was followed by a refund for that course. Overall, the food was a bitter disappointment and fell far short of expectations. Unfortunately, the wine accompaniment to the menu offered by the restaurant followed the meal seamlessly. In our opinion, it didn't fit in with the hallways at all. In addition, they tasted completely banal and had no character of their own that stood and spoke for itself. To conclude this review, it can only be stated that we cannot recommend this restaurant, especially due to the alleged quality of the food and the resulting monetary positioning of the menu. One has the impression that the prevailing attitude is to rest on the names that are already known. As a result, our impression is that the guests will probably be satisfied with less effort and the quality of the food, drink and service.

It was a culinary feast! For my birthday, my wife had reserved a table that was discreetly but lovingly decorated with "Congratulations" decorations. We each had a starter that really impressed us in terms of taste and appearance. The main courses (Plat du jour: venison fillet and entrecote) showed us why food can make you happy! :-) The excellent desserts and the corresponding wines made this meal an unforgettable experience for us. Not to forget the extremely competent, friendly and attentive service staff as well as a hostess (Liliane) and a boss who always takes time for a humorous chat and who clearly shows that the well-being and well-being of his guests is very important to him. We were thrilled and would love to come back - once we have saved a little. ;-) Thank you very much for this wonderful birthday feast!

We were very (!) looking forward to our first visit to Le Moissonnier and made our reservations weeks in advance: We were greeted by Madame herself in a very stressed manner and were given one of the two tiny wobbly tables at the back between the cash register and the stairs to the toilet. The service, including the owners themselves, were annoyed and inattentive, not just with us, there were several tables with complaints, particularly annoying when you were also assigned a time slot. We also expected a lot more from the food: the Plat du Jour was not very original and not beautifully presented, it was probably designed more for the in-house delivery service and was simply far too expensive for that. Overall a big disappointment, you probably have to be a regular to be treated well there. Never again.

Contact was friendly, especially the boss was friendly and warm, the food was impeccable, the portions were of course rather small, typically gourmet, but I was full nonetheless. The espresso at the end was really disappointing. What was particularly disappointing was that you were never asked if you liked it or good or whether you want something else or something else.

Even after the closure and reopening, it's still a unique culinary delight... anyone who complains about the service here also complains at home about the fact that they didn't turn off the shower tap for you after leaving the shower... everything, as usual, at the appropriate level and still recommended ... Einziger Schwachpunkt: Kein glutenfreies Brot trotz telefonischer Vorankündigung. Im Restaurant noch einmal darauf hingewiesen. Trotzdem kam zu den Austern und zur Fischsuppe weiterhin Brot. Ein aufmerksamer Service sieht anders aus.

Le Moissonnier ist wieder da, mit allen Qualitäten, die wir schätzen und kennen, und mit einigen Neuerungen nach der Kreativitätspause: geöffnet an 5 Wochentagen jeweils nur bis zum Nachmittag, Speisen ausser Haus mit renommierten Lieferdienst und eine tägliche „plat du jour“ zu einem sehr günstigen Preis. Vielen Dank für ein hervorragendes Mittagsmahl.

Seit 30 Jahren Gast im Le Moissonier sagt wahrscheinlich schon alles ! Der Schock zum Aus war groß und die Neugier aufs 'Kneipenkonzept' riesig ! Es war GRANDIOS ‼️ Meeresfrüchteplatte an Frische nicht zu überbieten. Das Kalbsbries mit fantastischer Sauce mein bestes der letzten 25 Jahre. Das Täubchen war die Beste meines Lebens. Der erneute Stern 🌟 ist folgerichtig weil Eric Menchon NICHT SCHLECHT kochen KANN ! Chapeau, Bravo und hoffentlich noch viele Jahre meine französische Insel in Köln.

Ein wahres kulinarisches Erlebnis erwartete uns bei Le Moissonnier. Das Essen war exzellent, der Service herausragend, und die Wein-Auswahl schlichtweg beeindruckend. Die Preise sind sicherlich gehoben, jedoch völlig gerechtfertigt für die gebotene Qualität und den erstklassigen Service. Besonders die Meeresfrüchte als Vorspeise überzeugten durch ihre ausgezeichnete Qualität. Der Nachmittag bei Le Moissonnier war ein voller Genuss und Vergnügen. Selten habe ich mich in einem Restaurant dieser Klasse so wohl gefühlt. Absolut empfehlenswert für alle, die auf der Suche nach einem besonderen gastronomischen Erlebnis sind.

Für meinen Mann eine Zeitreise anlässlich seines 70 Geburtstags, den die Töchter ihm geschenkt haben. Er hat den wunderschönen Fußboden in diesem traumhaftem Restaurant vor 36 Jahren verlegt. Wir waren 33 Jahre treue Besucher des Moissonier und haben in der Corona Zeit noch viel öfter das köstliche Essen und die passenden Weine bestellt. Deshalb waren wir gespannt auf das neue Konzept und Angebot. Die Gastgeber waren zum Glück wie immer sehr freundlich und wunderbar und wir durften unsere Hunde mitbringen. Aber die Qualität der Speisen hat mich etwas enttäuscht. Eine völlig durchgegarte und damit sehr fade Ceviche, die in Miniatur Form für 21 Euro angeboten wird, hatte ich mir anders vorgestellt und schon viel besser gegessen. Die Fischsuppe war ziemlich dünn und zum Hauptgang wurde mir kein Wein angeboten, obwohl ich gerne von der Vielfalt etwas probieren wollte. Immerhin war ich in einer Weinbar! Der Waldorf Salat war zu kalt und hatte deshalb keinen oder wenig Geschmack, Nichts wirklich schlimmes aber während früher der nächste Besuch schon geplant war und Empfehlungen ausgesprochen wurden bin ich damit nun zurückhaltend.

Die Ausstattung des Restaurants ist wie vor der Schließung im Frühjahr nur die Bestuhlung wurde etwas geändert. Bei meinem Besuch am frühen Nachmittag waren zirka 2 Drittel der Plätze besetzt. Die Küchenleistung war wie nicht anders zu erwarten. Hervorragend Ich hatte eine Brandade bestellt Sowie eine sogenannte Pissaladière Aber Ich bekam nicht das südfranzösische Straßengericht als Pizza mit Zwiebel Sardellen und schwarzen Oliven. Sondern eine hochelegante Komposition aus Blätterteig, Zwiebelmarmelade und Hervorragendem roten Thunfisch - ein typisches Gericht von Erik. Und ich muss sagen zurzeit kann man in Köln nicht günstiger auf Sterneniveau essen. Die Weinauswahl liegt auf Augenhöhe mit dem Leistungsniveau der Küche

Das Ergebnis der Neueröffnung des Le Moissonniers, ist eine der schönsten Möglichkeiten einen Nachmittag in Köln zu verbringen und sich zu fühlen wie Gott in Frankreich. Die Meeresfrüchte sind fantastisch, die Weine ein Traum und der Service erstklassig. Ich habe einen neuen Lieblingsort in Köln, der genau dort steht, wo mal ein alter Lieblingsort gewesen ist. Ich war mehrmal im Le Moissonnier vor der "Schließung" im Juni 2023. Das neue Konzept gefällt mir sehr gut. Das hat jetzt etwas von einem sehr gehobenes Bistro. Mein Essen (Plat de Jour und Zitronen Tarte), Weine und Service waren wie immer sehr gut.

Wir haben kürzlich den Geburtstag meines Mannes in Le Moissonnier gefeiert und waren absolut begeistert von unserem Erlebnis. Das Restaurant bot eine breite Auswahl an erlesenen Weinen, Austern und einer Vielzahl von Meeresfrüchten, die wir sehr lieben. Das Ambiente des Restaurants war elegant und raffiniert, mit einem Hauch von französischem Charme. Der Service war exzellent und das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir fühlten uns vom Moment unserer Ankunft bis zur Verabschiedung sehr willkommen und gut betreut. Was die Weinkarte betrifft, waren wir überwältigt von der Vielfalt und Qualität der Weine. Sie halfen uns, den perfekten Wein zu jedem Gang auszuwählen und sorgten dafür, dass unsere Geschmackserlebnisse noch intensiver wurden. Es ist bedauerlich zu hören, dass das Restaurant bald schließt. Für uns war es wirklich ein idealer Ort für besondere Anlässe. Wir werden das Restaurant und seine einzigartigen Qualitäten vermissen.

2 Sterne Restaurant in Köln. Schließt Ende Juni 2023. Das Essen war erwartungsgemäß sehr gut. Top zubereitet. Top Qualität. Aber auch sehr, sehr teuer. 185 Euro für das feststehende 5 Gänge "Abschiedsmenue" mit Klassikern der letzten Jahre. 53,50 Euro für die Weinbegleitung. Das fanden wir unter dem Strich deutlich zu teuer.

Good wine list Creative, unusual dishes - Waiter didn't know the wines well (no sommelier on-site like at Maison Blue, for example) Older "head waiter" was rude (throwing waste on the floor) No container for fish waste (only upon request) No possibility to clean hands at the table because of the fish (packaged citrus wipes or, better yet, a container with hot water and a towel!)

Nice classic french restaurant where you can get a really good meal with the usual suspects (oyster, filet, caviar, loup de mer, ...). It's extremely central in a posh hotel, overall quite good vibe. That's definitely factored in the price, which is slightly excessive in my opinion. It's basically 1-star prices for both food and wine. While a good restaurant, a notch below that level.
