Food was very, very good - unfortunately service wasn't there for at least 15 minutes - we would have liked to have ordered something else! Too bad, too bad

Delicious dishes at reasonable prices!

We stayed at the inn for a week while ski jumping. We were warmly welcomed by the Bauer family. We were very satisfied with the size and cleanliness of the room and the breakfast was very good. We can unreservedly recommend the restaurant on the ground floor for great food All in all it was a very nice holiday with great weather Many thanks to the Bauer family and the team at Landgasthof zum Augustiner

We were guests at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner for dinner on January 2nd, 2025. Unfortunately, dishes such as roast pork, fried chicken and others were out. So the small, straightforward menu was shortened by another four dishes. The staff lacked service and was overwhelmed. This was the most chaotic restaurant visit in the 14 days of Christmas vacation. The following can be said about the food. As a starter we ordered Gustl's Obadzda, the Ochsenfetzenburger, the Käsespätzle and the children's dish Chase. The starter Gustl's Obadzda tasted good but wasn't the best Obadzda I've eaten so far. The pretzel pieces were not enough for the amount of Obadzda. The ox shred burger was generally good but many pieces of meat were dry. The pure meat taste including the seasoning was more like pulled pork. Fried dough leftovers with the fries are a no-go. From a hygienic point of view, 2 separate deep fryers would be better. The cheese spaetzle was good. The children's portion of fries were just fries. In my opinion, despite the crowds, there is a lot of room for improvement. Card payment was also not possible. In this day and age it is a no go. We were probably here for the first and last time during our Allgäu vacation but never say never. Maybe we'll give the operators the opportunity to teach us something better.

We had a very unpleasant evening at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner and are very annoyed that we made a reservation there. Detailed from the start: Arrived on time to reserve a table and discovered that apparently no card payment was possible, announced by A4 printed sheets of paper in the entrance area. We then sat down at the table and before we had even sat down we were ceremoniously told that our table would be occupied again in 1.5 hours and that we would then have to leave (more on that later). So I had to go out again and walk through the rain to get some extra cash, but I asked my wife to order it in advance. When I came back I sat down at the table and immediately discovered the EC device behind the counter. Of course it may not work, but it complements the unpleasant first impression. In the 10 minutes that I was out, no waiter showed up at the table and after I returned we actually had to wait another 20 minutes until our order was taken. We weren't asked for drinks either. This was not an isolated case; other tables next to us who entered the restaurant at the same time as us also had to wait around 30 minutes for their first order. Up to this point, 30 minutes of the announced 90 minutes are gone. Afterwards our food came relatively quickly (starter 10 minutes after ordering, main course 30 minutes later) but then it became very unpleasant again. We would have liked to have another dessert or another drink, but we lost the desire for that afterwards: the 1.5 hours were over - which in the end is due to the staff being completely overworked - and then you have that too Guests who then reserved the table were sent to our table even though we hadn't finished our main course yet. They were literally breathing down our necks and constantly hovering over our table in the hope that we would get up soon. Summary: We were looking forward to a cozy evening in the pub with good food and a few beers, but at the end there is nothing left but the constant feeling of a ticking clock on the back of our necks. I can understand that it is peak season and demand is very high, but perhaps the financial greed for income should not be put on the necks of the service staff and instead it would be better to put 4 fewer tables in the store than such a disaster. We won't come back! Two stars because the food was really okay.

I can say it's working. Fast and friendly service. Very good beer and food....tasty, I tell you. We ate the ribbon noodles and the sour-vide roasted onion roast. Two poems at one table. Conclusion: Keep it up! Absolutely a must when visiting Oberstdorf!

We ate there twice with 3 people. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. You sit very tightly in this restaurant, which wasn't particularly annoying since it was Boxing Day and there were a lot of people in Oberstdorf. What bothered us immensely and very strangely was that when we ordered a gravy again, we were charged €2.10 each, i.e. €6.30 for it. Once and never again.

Restaurant typical beer glut, which doesn't mean anything negative here. Price-performance ratio is good, the food is middle-class. You can go there again!

We just had dinner. Was freshly prepared and delicious. Maybe a little over the top when it comes to the composition: Kässpatzen with forest mushrooms floating in cream (see photo) Nice ambience and good service, a little too fast - I like to eat my starter in peace before the main course is served.

A nice little hotel in the middle of the city. My single room was small and functionally equipped. The wooden furniture looked nice, but wasn't particularly high quality (the squeaky bed frame was a bit annoying). The shower and the room were always clean, towels were changed daily. The breakfast buffet was very good. Everything was freshly prepared and special requests were catered for. The staff and the boss were very friendly and helpful. Questions were always answered happily. I would definitely come back, just for the good beer 😀 I also really liked the rustic inn and can recommend it.

Top restaurant in the middle of Oberstdorf. Great service, top home cooking. Table reservations only inside, if you want to sit outside, come early! One of the first choices in Oberstdorf!

First of all... the food is good, but you sit very crowded together so that the neighbors can listen because the distance to the tables is too small. The waiter is friendly and quick but you can't get rid of the impression...eat quickly and then leave so that the place can be given away. Comfortable is different... my companion said that this was a "feeding station". As I said, the food was good and the portion was disproportionate, but it lacked charm and wasn't comfortable to sit on.

Very tasty beer. Reservations are essential for dining. The Augustinian pan would be recommended if there was more meat on the plate. 2 small pieces...... they were said to have weighed 200 g. Well, maybe the scale wasn't zero. Who knows. Only the cook knows. In any case, the boys and girls are very concerned about their guests. Always friendly and helpful and with a smile on her face.

We were there for the first time at the beginning of our vacation. We enjoyed it so much that we reserved it for a second evening. The food was very tasty 😋 we had schnitzel and cordon bleu, each with plenty of fries and cranberries. The waitresses were very friendly and willing to have fun. We felt very comfortable there and will definitely eat there again on our next vacation.

Nachdem meine Bewertung komischer Weise verschwunden ist, schreibe ich nochmal über unseren Besuch hier am 13.10.2024: Nach Vorreservierung wurden wir zunächst gefragt, ob wir auch eine Stunde früher kommen können. Als wir dann da waren, wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass wir ein Zeitfenster von 1,5 Stunden haben. Die Grießockerlsuppe war sehr fad, die Klößchen kalt. Der Schweinebraten meines Mannes war na ja, die Soße ein Fertigprodukt und kalt, das Rotkraut wohl aus der Dose. Mein Salat war undefinierbar, abgedeckt mit grünem Salat. Darin befanden sich Pilze aus der Dose. Die frittierte Hähnchenbrust war ok, aber sicherlich ein Fertigprodukt. Wir haben beide die Hälfte des Essens stehen lassen. Der Kellner hat sich für die Reklamation entschuldigt, das wars. Der Kellner war jedenfalls sehr nett.

The soup was: oh well. The food was cold, the salad with mushrooms came from a jar or can. It's like cafeteria food and not good bourgeois. The price was in no way appropriate. Unfortunately, all in all not tasty. It's a shame because we came based on a recommendation. The waiter was very nice

Very centrally located, hospitality that comes from the heart and is not fake. The host family Bauer shows that quality can remain affordable. The price/performance ratio is great! The breakfast buffet is outstanding and second to none! A huge selection of fresh, healthy products that are not only pleasing to the eye. Likewise the kitchen..Really amazing, e.g. the onion roast or half chicken. Plus fresh half pints, which at the time we were there were super tasty Oktoberfest beer. The Bauer family in one word: outstanding!

We went there for dinner on our wedding anniversary. The food was really not good, just slapped down, greasy and my husband had 2 mini pieces of pork fillet on his plate for a price of €24 and then a stranger was seated at the table... no go...

We stayed here for a long weekend and really enjoyed our stay! The location is great, the staff and owners are very friendly and especially the cuisine (both breakfast and dinner) is highly recommended!

Five stars are simply not enough to describe this wonderful house - it made our stay in Oberstdorf an unforgettable experience. The entire Bauer family was incredibly warm and friendly - every employee made us feel welcome. We particularly liked that the house is very dog-friendly. Our dog was welcomed just as warmly as we were. The rooms in the hotel were very clean, bright and comfortable, which made our stay even more pleasant. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend it!

Very attentive and friendly service, food was served very quickly and tasted excellent. Unfortunately it was a bit too loud for me.

The Wiener Schnitzel was good, but that's nothing special for the Allgäu. Considering that you have to make a reservation at least 2 days in advance (we only managed to get a table at 5:30 p.m. a day in advance), the food was only of normal quality. The lukewarm espresso at the end completes the picture: you can go here, but it's a must.

Yes definitely, everyone is really nice and the food is great.

The thread soup was very tasteless and only lukewarm, the sauce from the main course was thickened and covered with a skin, so it was kept warm for longer. The cutlery and glasses seemed very “put together”. The service made an effort and was very friendly, but in the end it's what comes out of the kitchen that counts!

Wir haben einen Tisch für 18:30 Uhr reserviert und sind 20 Minuten früher dagewesen . Einige Pärchen standen mit uns an. Diese wurden dann gefragt ob sie drinnen oder draußen sitzen möchten. Als wir an der Reihe waren wurden wir in den Gastraum geschickt wo uns dan gesagt wurde das wir nochmal 20 Minuten spazieren gehen sollten. Und das obwohl wir reserviert hatten und einige vor uns Platz bekommen haben. Dazu kommt eine absolut unfreundliche Servicekraft.

Habe am Freitag einen Tisch für 2 Personen reserviert. Meldung kam per Mail mit Hinweis das nur bei Bestätigung die Reservierung gültig ist. Ich warte bis heute auf eine Bestätigung oder eine Absage.

I reserved a table for 2 people on Friday. The message came via email stating that the reservation is only valid if confirmed. I'm still waiting for a confirmation or a rejection. That's not very customer friendly.

We got a table here quickly. But if you want to eat at the usual times of 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m., I recommend making a reservation. Food is super delicious. Service is good. Food came quickly too. We would come again. Negative: no card payment possible.

We stayed at the Augustiner for 3 days. The rooms were very clean, nice and big and, above all, no carpets, which we really appreciated. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very extensive breakfast buffet👍 We always ate there in the evening. It was sensational and simply recommended.👍

We stayed at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner for a week in July. Great family atmosphere. The service is A1. The rooms are very nice, the restaurant is excellent (tip: onion roast with Allgäuer Kässpätzle). The breakfast is absolutely great: huge selection, varied and very friendly and nice service.

The room, the location and the breakfast service were excellent. However, the tenants are very distant and moderately critical. Nocturnal disturbances in the house made me lose sleep :-(

We visited the restaurant three times during our vacation and were thrilled every time. The mixed salad is very good. All the dishes we tried during our visits were fantastic. Our waiter was incredibly courteous and friendly. And the beer (Augustiner Edelstoff) is for me the best beer ever. 10/10.

We had a small room. The bathroom was also very small. No second room key available. There were also no parking spaces at the house. The parking lot was a few minutes walk from the house. For these reasons, I think the price is overpriced at over 80 euros per person per night. The burgers at the restaurant were good according to several people in our group. However, there were also extremely critical comments about the liver dumpling soup: like rubber on the outside and with a hard core in the middle. Cold fries that were taken back after notice and came back heated in the microwave after 1 minute. It seemed to me like a lot of it was TK. The best thing about the house was the breakfast service. The employee was sensationally good. The rooms were clean.

We stayed at the country inn for 3 nights to hike around Oberstdorf. The location is wonderful, everything is within walking distance (city center, train station + bus station, Nebelhornbahn...). Large room with enough space, very clean! The staff and the Bauer family are very concerned about the well-being of the guests and always take some time, even though there is often a lot going on. Everyone is very nice and helpful and you can tell that they enjoy their work. The breakfast is fantastic: very extensive and delicious. The dinner is also excellent: good portions, freshly prepared and of course very tasty. Price-performance is right! We'd love to come back!

Centrally located hotel with very friendly staff, delicious food, good value for money. The Bauer family takes touching care of the guests. Despite the European Football Championship and a full house, no one is sent away. Parked at the counter until a spot becomes available, great. We had four lovely days.

Finally managed to come here in the fourth year. Since we usually have dinner before 5 p.m., we often walked past here and wished the opening hours were earlier. But now it finally worked out and we weren't disappointed. The choice was a (boneless) brown trout and the schnitzel with a draft beer. Very tasty. The service was on point, with the right saying on their lips, we liked it. The tip could also be paid by card. An important point for us in the age of cashless payments. If the time is right, we would be happy to come back.

The country inn is somewhat hidden in a side street and once you find it you will always come back. The food is simply delicious and is served creatively (order a starter soup 😉). We were only here to eat. Had various main courses, all of which were very tasty! The prices are reasonable. The staff was very nice, the restaurant was very cozy.

Super friendly team, you come in and immediately feel at home, you can end the evening in the rustic parlor with delicious food and drinks, the hosts Flutra and Toni are very open and warm.

Perfect accommodation for the ski weekend with my son. Heavenly food, clean rooms and a very warm and family-friendly host family. We were completely satisfied and will definitely come back! My son still talks about Olaf and the strawberry jam ;)

Good Wi-Fi. Limited vegan options on the menu and for breakfast, though we appreciated how the breakfast buffet was lovingly decorated. The lady taking care of the breakfast was friendly and attentive, we felt very welcome with her around. The room was much smaller than we anticipated from the images on booking.com, but were clean and cozy. Some nights the restaurant below was too loud to sleep, and the door/walls didn't dampen the noise from the other guests in the hallway or in their rooms well. Communications with the hotel prior to our arrival were difficult because they never picked up the phone and we had some misunderstandings in the chat on booking.com, though once we were there everybody was very kind and accommodating. The location is great, right on the edge of the city centre, so it wasn't noisy while we could still step out the door and reach everything on foot within minutes.

There were 4 people in the restaurant on January 24th, 2024 and were very surprised by the ambience and the fried chicken, which 3 of them had ordered The 4 meals also left nothing to be desired. Service was also great and we will be back next time.

Very nice clean room with bathroom. Friendly people at the reception and in the restaurant. Personally, I found that a small downside was that you had to book the restaurant well in advance and that there was only 1 bottle of water in the room that was not refilled. Coffee and/or tea would have been nice.

I stayed at the Augustiner for 3 nights, nice and cozy single room, the restaurant is great, the service is excellent, the location is unbeatable, right in the middle but quiet, everything within walking distance! Many thanks to the nice lady who prepared a great breakfast every morning!!

Canteen food at a gourmet price. This tourist trap is not about home-style, traditional cuisine, but rather first-class ready-made meals from a tetra pack. Because of the good reviews, which apparently were directed at the previous owners, we unfortunately found our way to this location. In short: moderately friendly service & bland food with apparently no self-produced sauce or side dish - thanks to Maggi and/or Knorr. Other restaurants in the area can do much better home-style cooking for the same price or cheaper. Unfortunately the worst restaurant in Oberstdorf that I was allowed/had to be in so far.

We came from Lower Saxony for the first time to go skiing and enjoy Oberstdorf for a week. We really liked the Landgasthof zum Augustiner in every respect! The location is perfect and central, the rooms were very clean and well equipped, we had breakfast there every morning and dinner too. The food was really wonderfully Bavarian and tasted great! The two hosts were very polite and really human! The staff were also very nice and we always felt in good hands and at home! We would be happy to come back and can only recommend it to anyone who wants to go hiking, skiing or simply relax in Oberstdorf! Thank you and best regards from the north!
