Landgasthof zum Augustiner in Oberstdorf

Reserved a table online, no confirmation received. Tried calling 5 times, nobody answered (outside of busy times). On the 6th attempt, someone answered and confirmed that there was no reservation. When I then asked them to take the reservation over the phone, they said no and that I should do it online. When I said that I had already tried this, they replied that sometimes it doesn't work and I should just keep trying. When I asked if there really was no other way to get a table, they again said no. I should keep trying and if it doesn't work after a few attempts, they could write it down in pencil. Thank you very much, we won't be coming and would rather eat somewhere else.

We went to the Augustiner on our summer vacation. We had three small children with us, and they all ate their plates clean. The children's schnitzel was amazing! You can't go wrong with the children's plate of fish fingers, and the littlest one devoured her soup! And we had roast pork with dumplings, beef steak with cheese spaetzle. The food was simply amazing! The server was incredibly friendly! We were lucky with the table; we arrived at 3 p.m. and got a table right away. Those who arrived later should have made a reservation. The place was completely packed, and there aren't many tables available. We absolutely recommend the food.

Short trip to Oberstdorf with an overnight stay at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner. The country inn is perfectly located in the center of Oberstdorf, yet still offers peace and quiet at night and a good night's sleep. A certain number of parking spaces are available, and they were offered to me on Booking.com for €5 per night. The parking spaces themselves are about a 5-minute walk away on a meadow, unguarded and unlocked. Our room, the "Söllereck," was super comfortable in terms of the beds and very clean. The bathroom could have been a bit larger; I would describe the shower as a vanity, lacking a feel-good factor. In the middle of the room was a round table with two glasses and a bottle of mineral water. The seating consisted of a beer garden chair (metal-wooden-uncomfortable) and another, equally uncomfortable chair. The flat-screen TV worked perfectly. We arrived on Friday and stayed until Monday. Our beer glasses from Friday at the bar were not cleared away during room service, even after complaining to the owner. The bed was also only made after a complaint, and a white thread skein on the dark floor had obviously been lying next to the table all day, so that's another shortcoming. As a frequent traveler, I have to give breakfast a definite 100 points plus; something like that is rare. Delicious bread and rolls, countless cheeses and sausages, eggs, various salads, ham eggs, chive eggs... delicacies as far as the eye can see. There's also a great selection of muesli and the like. The very nice and friendly lady at breakfast provided us with coffee, tea... you name it. Nothing is left to be desired here. Sensational! The food is also very tasty, the beer very tasty and almost a bargain for the location. The waiters are almost all courteous and friendly. The owner is always approachable, talkative, and has a listening ear. A young tram is working at the Augustiner, there are still opportunities to re-enter here and there, but the bottom line is that we would come back anytime and can warmly recommend it.

We had dinner there. Like many restaurants in Oberstdorf, there are a lot of tourists. In the summer, many people sit outside, and after a few beers have been consumed, it can get quite loud. The food was okay, but nothing exceptional. The staff was very nice.

Simply fantastic! My husband and I ate here on our last evening. And it was truly one of the best restaurants. From the service to the food, it was simply superb! The waitresses were all very friendly. And the food was delicious! My husband had the Zwiebelrostbraten (medium), and it was cooked to perfection. The Munich schnitzel was also delicious! And both were beautifully presented! I absolutely recommend it! I can't say enough about the rooms.

Truly great food. The service was also excellent. Unfortunately, if you can only reserve a table until 8:00 PM, you have to be careful that the food doesn't arrive until 7:45 PM. We'll be happy to come back next time. The cheese spaetzle, in particular, is highly recommended!

There are two of us staying here. We will definitely never come back. Dinner was brought after almost two hours, despite repeated complaints. We said the food wasn't bad, but the wait was too long. The waiter replied that he usually only knows patient and friendly Swiss people. If he had been more understanding and not just answered rudely, he would have received a tip. We are staying in a double room. For three nights. The room is clean. There are enough towels, but they are rock hard. For the first two nights, our room is not entered. It is neither cleaned nor the beds made. That's not appropriate for the not-so-cheap room rate. What must be emphasized, though, is that the breakfast is amazing. Very varied, fresh, beautifully presented, and Fatos, the waitress, is exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I stayed at the Landgasthof Augustiner with my son for a few days at the end of July, and we had a wonderful time. The dinner was really good—fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. The breakfast was also excellent: everything was fresh and plentiful. The location is central, yet quiet. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. A quick note: Parking is available, but limited—it's best to reserve in advance. I would especially like to highlight the staff—they were extremely friendly and accommodating, both in the morning and in the evening. Overall, a very pleasant stay. We'd love to come back!

Simply fantastic. Very friendly staff, fantastic food. I highly recommend it. Reservations are recommended, though. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the rooms, as we only ate there. Dessert took a while to arrive, but it was also very filling.

Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! Guests feel very well looked after here. A young team led by the Bauer family deserves my respect for their dedication to making their guests' stay as pleasant as possible. There's always time for a personal chat, along with tips for hiking and things to do in Oberstdorf... The Augustiner is super centrally located yet quiet. The food is very good! Weekend stay July 12, 2025 If you're looking for peace and harmony, this is the place for you! The country inn has a great location, centrally located, and everything is within walking distance. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The service, the quality of the food (breakfast, evening meals at the inn) is varied, fresh, and plentiful. Highly recommended 👍😀

Waiting 45 minutes for a Gröstl (a decent beer, in the end) is simply not acceptable. Even the best beer can't help.

We had two delicious meals here. The staff were really friendly, especially to the kids. Pro tip: The cheese spaetzle with a great side salad. It was absolutely amazing! It's also great that they have special kids' dishes and you can order smaller portions. Beer: 10/10

A must-do when visiting Oberstdorf. If you've been to Oberstdorf and haven't eaten there, you've missed something and need to go again.

It was super juicy and the sauce was authentic. The accompanying cabbage salad was also delicious. The price was reasonable and the portions were huge. The restaurant was packed with locals. 🈵 Here are some recommended German restaurants in Oberstdorf. Exceptionally delicious.

We were only at the Alm for a beer or two. Opening hours were limited and it was self-service only. The selection was also very limited.

Well located. Salad was delicious. Burger with dry meat and burnt bread. If it had been a "beer on the house," I probably wouldn't have rated it this way. So, it remains a bad experience with poor service.

We spent four days there. A beautiful, spacious room, very friendly hosts, a good breakfast buffet with a wide selection, and delicious food in the restaurant. We can 100% recommend the Landgasthof zum Augustiner, both for an overnight stay and for dining.

This was my best stay in Oberstdorf so far. The rooms are very nice and clean. The restaurant is of absolutely top quality and certainly one of the best in all of Oberstdorf. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating, and they leave nothing to be desired. I would visit the Augustiner again anytime, both for dinner and for a stay.

I was a guest at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner from June 2nd to June 6th, 2005. I found everything there to be excellent. Very friendly staff, good food, not too expensive. Comfortable, nice, clean room, very cozy bar. By the way, I also think the Augustiner beer is very good, and therefore the beer selection there is also excellent.

Very friendly staff, a great selection of dishes. The fried chicken salad is super delicious, plentiful, and varied, not just your typical "dry" chicken breast salad. The breading is super tasty and well-seasoned. The schnitzels are perfectly cooked, a compliment to the kitchen and the consistently friendly service. Reservations are definitely recommended, as the place always seems to be very busy.

This place was fantastic! The service was excellent and so was the food.I wish I could remember the young waiters name . We were there on 5/31/25 Saturday night around 7:30pm inside. He was hustling around with a smile on his face and he had a great personality.

Very friendly hosts and staff. Large rooms (small bathroom). Very central yet very quiet. Excellent breakfast. We felt very comfortable and would gladly return.

Update: I've been back after about 6 years and the new couple running the place are doing a really great job. Excellent food, great breakfast, clean rooms, and friendly staff! A 100% improvement in quality. Always worth a visit and no comparison to the previous owners. Old reviews: Rude staff, extremely poor service! There are other restaurants here that have great staff and a great atmosphere, like Dampfbier Brauerei! The food is terrible, and the next beer is a long time coming! Not again!!!!

We stayed at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner in Oberstdorf for 5 days and were completely thrilled! Our room was great, the breakfast and our two dinners were real highlights - everything lovingly prepared and very tasty. Ms. Bauer and her team do a great job with noticeable dedication and warmth. We will definitely come back and have already recommended the country inn to friends to stay and eat. Absolutely recommended!

We ate here twice, not stayed overnight. What we can highly recommend: Obadzda with the delicious pretzel pieces tossed in warm butter 😋 Onion roast 😋 Sausage salad 😋 And of course the tasty Augustiner beer 🍺🍺

We reserved online. You can choose between a normal table and a high table. Everything was perfect. Friendly staff and delicious food. We'll come back on our next vacation in Oberstdorf.

All around great stay at the Landgasthof Augustiner. Very friendly hosts, delicious breakfast, a comfortable room. I was able to store my skis in the basement. The location is just perfect. A few minutes to the bus station or just a few minutes to the Nebelhorn make it easier for skiers to get through the village. I'll definitely come back. Especially when the new thermal baths open in Oberstdorf - then there will be no shortage of wellness after an eventful day of skiing.

A great meal, very friendly service, we had ordered a table for the second evening in a row, but we were rather rudely turned away from the table, other guests were already waiting. That might be okay if this had been communicated beforehand. So we drank half our beer standing up. We didn't feel completely comfortable and were upset!!!!

We went to the Augustiner for dinner one evening. We had reserved a table in advance, which I would generally recommend. The food was delicious, and the side salad was a bit more unusual than you'd normally expect. The portions were also quite large. The service was excellent, and everything was delivered promptly. We stayed there for 4 nights and were very satisfied with everything! The welcome was warm, the boss and the staff are super friendly and courteous people. The rooms are large and very clean, the mattresses are very high quality! The food was also really good and the restaurant area and the toilets there were extremely clean - conclusion: it couldn't be better! We felt really comfortable and will definitely come back! We were guests for three nights for the ski jumping event and ate in the restaurant on two evenings. Conclusion: We were thrilled in every respect! (Only the lack of parking spaces should be better informed in advance when booking.) The owners and employees are very friendly and always have a kind word to say, even in the busiest times. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent! (not to forget the delicious bratwurst from the Palatinate at the outdoor stand set up especially for ski jumping 👍). The room was spacious and very clean. We felt completely comfortable. 👍

We were guests at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner for dinner on January 2nd, 2025. Unfortunately, dishes such as roast pork, fried chicken and others were out. So the small, straightforward menu was shortened by another four dishes. The staff lacked service and was overwhelmed. This was the most chaotic restaurant visit in the 14 days of Christmas vacation. The following can be said about the food. As a starter we ordered Gustl's Obadzda, the Ochsenfetzenburger, the Käsespätzle and the children's dish Chase. The starter Gustl's Obadzda tasted good but wasn't the best Obadzda I've eaten so far. The pretzel pieces were not enough for the amount of Obadzda. The ox shred burger was generally good but many pieces of meat were dry. The pure meat taste including the seasoning was more like pulled pork. Fried dough leftovers with the fries are a no-go. From a hygienic point of view, 2 separate deep fryers would be better. The cheese spaetzle was good. The children's portion of fries were just fries. In my opinion, despite the crowds, there is a lot of room for improvement. Card payment was also not possible. In this day and age it is a no go. We were probably here for the first and last time during our Allgäu vacation but never say never. Maybe we'll give the operators the opportunity to teach us something better.

We had a very unpleasant evening at the Landgasthof zum Augustiner and are very annoyed that we made a reservation there. Detailed from the start: Arrived on time to reserve a table and discovered that apparently no card payment was possible, announced by A4 printed sheets of paper in the entrance area. We then sat down at the table and before we had even sat down we were ceremoniously told that our table would be occupied again in 1.5 hours and that we would then have to leave (more on that later). So I had to go out again and walk through the rain to get some extra cash, but I asked my wife to order it in advance. When I came back I sat down at the table and immediately discovered the EC device behind the counter. Of course it may not work, but it complements the unpleasant first impression. In the 10 minutes that I was out, no waiter showed up at the table and after I returned we actually had to wait another 20 minutes until our order was taken. We weren't asked for drinks either. This was not an isolated case; other tables next to us who entered the restaurant at the same time as us also had to wait around 30 minutes for their first order. Up to this point, 30 minutes of the announced 90 minutes are gone. Afterwards our food came relatively quickly (starter 10 minutes after ordering, main course 30 minutes later) but then it became very unpleasant again. We would have liked to have another dessert or another drink, but we lost the desire for that afterwards: the 1.5 hours were over - which in the end is due to the staff being completely overworked - and then you have that too Guests who then reserved the table were sent to our table even though we hadn't finished our main course yet. They were literally breathing down our necks and constantly hovering over our table in the hope that we would get up soon. Summary: We were looking forward to a cozy evening in the pub with good food and a few beers, but at the end there is nothing left but the constant feeling of a ticking clock on the back of our necks. I can understand that it is peak season and demand is very high, but perhaps the financial greed for income should not be put on the necks of the service staff and instead it would be better to put 4 fewer tables in the store than such a disaster. We won't come back! Two stars because the food was really okay.

I can say it's working. Fast and friendly service. Very good beer and food....tasty, I tell you. We ate the ribbon noodles and the sour-vide roasted onion roast. Two poems at one table. Conclusion: Keep it up! Absolutely a must when visiting Oberstdorf!

We ate there twice with 3 people. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. You sit very tightly in this restaurant, which wasn't particularly annoying since it was Boxing Day and there were a lot of people in Oberstdorf. What bothered us immensely and very strangely was that when we ordered a gravy again, we were charged €2.10 each, i.e. €6.30 for it. Once and never again.

Restaurant typical beer glut, which doesn't mean anything negative here. Price-performance ratio is good, the food is middle-class. You can go there again!

A nice little hotel in the middle of the city. My single room was small and functionally equipped. The wooden furniture looked nice, but wasn't particularly high quality (the squeaky bed frame was a bit annoying). The shower and the room were always clean, towels were changed daily. The breakfast buffet was very good. Everything was freshly prepared and special requests were catered for. The staff and the boss were very friendly and helpful. Questions were always answered happily. I would definitely come back, just for the good beer 😀 I also really liked the rustic inn and can recommend it.

Very friendly staff, very good down-to-earth and delicious food

First of all... the food is good, but you sit very crowded together so that the neighbors can listen because the distance to the tables is too small. The waiter is friendly and quick but you can't get rid of the impression...eat quickly and then leave so that the place can be given away. Comfortable is different... my companion said that this was a "feeding station". As I said, the food was good and the portion was disproportionate, but it lacked charm and wasn't comfortable to sit on.

Very tasty beer. Reservations are essential for dining. The Augustinian pan would be recommended if there was more meat on the plate. 2 small pieces...... they were said to have weighed 200 g. Well, maybe the scale wasn't zero. Who knows. Only the cook knows. In any case, the boys and girls are very concerned about their guests. Always friendly and helpful and with a smile on her face.

We were there for the first time at the beginning of our vacation. We enjoyed it so much that we reserved it for a second evening. The food was very tasty 😋 we had schnitzel and cordon bleu, each with plenty of fries and cranberries. The waitresses were very friendly and willing to have fun. Nachdem meine Bewertung komischer Weise verschwunden ist, schreibe ich nochmal über unseren Besuch hier am 13.10.2024: Nach Vorreservierung wurden wir zunächst gefragt, ob wir auch eine Stunde früher kommen können. Als wir dann da waren, wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass wir ein Zeitfenster von 1,5 Stunden haben. Die Grießockerlsuppe war sehr fad, die Klößchen kalt. Der Schweinebraten meines Mannes war na ja, die Soße ein Fertigprodukt und kalt, das Rotkraut wohl aus der Dose. Mein Salat war undefinierbar, abgedeckt mit grünem Salat. Darin befanden sich Pilze aus der Dose. Die frittierte Hähnchenbrust war ok, aber sicherlich ein Fertigprodukt. Wir haben beide die Hälfte des Essens stehen lassen. Der Kellner hat sich für die Reklamation entschuldigt, das wars. Der Kellner war jedenfalls sehr nett.

Very centrally located, hospitality that comes from the heart and is not fake. The host family Bauer shows that quality can remain affordable. The price/performance ratio is great! The breakfast buffet is outstanding and second to none! A huge selection of fresh, healthy products that are not only pleasing to the eye. Likewise the kitchen..Really amazing, e.g. the onion roast or half chicken. Plus fresh half pints, which at the time we were there were super tasty Oktoberfest beer. The Bauer family in one word: outstanding!

We went there for dinner on our wedding anniversary. The food was really not good, just slapped down, greasy and my husband had 2 mini pieces of pork fillet on his plate for a price of €24 and then a stranger was seated at the table... no go...

Five stars are simply not enough to describe this wonderful house - it made our stay in Oberstdorf an unforgettable experience. The entire Bauer family was incredibly warm and friendly - every employee made us feel welcome. We particularly liked that the house is very dog-friendly. Our dog was welcomed just as warmly as we were. The rooms in the hotel were very clean, bright and comfortable, which made our stay even more pleasant. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend it!

Very attentive and friendly service, food was served very quickly and tasted excellent. Unfortunately it was a bit too loud for me.

The Wiener Schnitzel was good, but that's nothing special for the Allgäu. Considering that you have to make a reservation at least 2 days in advance (we only managed to get a table at 5:30 p.m. a day in advance), the food was only of normal quality. The lukewarm espresso at the end completes the picture: you can go here, but it's a must.

Yes definitely, everyone is really nice and the food is great.

The thread soup was very tasteless and only lukewarm, the sauce from the main course was thickened and covered with a skin, so it was kept warm for longer. The cutlery and glasses seemed very “put together”. The service made an effort and was very friendly, but in the end it's what comes out of the kitchen that counts!

Wir haben einen Tisch für 18:30 Uhr reserviert und sind 20 Minuten früher dagewesen . Einige Pärchen standen mit uns an. Diese wurden dann gefragt ob sie drinnen oder draußen sitzen möchten. Als wir an der Reihe waren wurden wir in den Gastraum geschickt wo uns dan gesagt wurde das wir nochmal 20 Minuten spazieren gehen sollten. Und das obwohl wir reserviert hatten und einige vor uns Platz bekommen haben. Dazu kommt eine absolut unfreundliche Servicekraft.

I reserved a table for 2 people on Friday. The message came via email stating that the reservation is only valid if confirmed. I'm still waiting for a confirmation or a rejection. That's not very customer friendly.
