The Relax restaurant in Oberstdorf is truly a very cozy and lovely place for breakfast. The ambiance is pleasant and invites you to linger – highly recommended! Unfortunately, we have to deduct one star: On Saturday, we went there for the French breakfast, which normally includes a croissant – but it was no longer available. We wanted to try it again on Sunday, but there were no croissants available. In addition to the white sausage, they didn't serve pretzels, but simply a bread roll – without asking if that was okay beforehand. That was a bit of a shame. Nevertheless, overall a nice breakfast experience with room for improvement in terms of service and food availability.

Absolutely terrible! I don't understand the positive reviews. The food was average at best. The burger patty - upon request from the waiter - came from a wholesaler. But the burger was €20.00 expensive. The staff were extremely rude. The red wine was warm. The restaurant is part of the Wilden Männlein association...same experience there. After a glass broke while being lifted, we were asked to leave and were not served again. We weren't loud, nor were we rude. I would have expected an apology from the extremely rude gentleman. The laconic explanation...they're not a pub. Surprising, considering the pub area is filled with slot machines ripping people off. What remains: mediocre food in a mediocre atmosphere and a very rude staff and manager! Why be customer-friendly when you can just rip tourists off! Thanks for nothing and a miserable evening!

We ate at Relax Essen four times during our vacation. Our verdict: very friendly, attentive waiters, who accommodated every request for a different order or side dish. Even after the meal, when I found the portion too small, my request for a second helping was immediately fulfilled without any fuss. The food is incredibly delicious.

The blue salon is recommended; it's not as loud or cramped as the front area.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary yesterday and enjoyed a delicious meal in a lovely atmosphere. The food was cooked to perfection, whether it was the vegetables, the rosemary potatoes, or the pink-roasted salmon. Many thanks to the kitchen and service. Agnes & Norbert 👩‍❤️‍👨 We do have one small suggestion for improvement, though! For example, I eat more slowly than my husband. If the plates were preheated, the food would stay warm longer.

We've been to Relax several times and can say that the quality of the food is consistently high. The steaks have always been perfect (medium for us), but the constantly changing weekly menu also offers high-quality variety to the already extensive offerings. The prices are reasonable. The interior is cozy, and the service is fast and friendly. Reservations are recommended, at least in the evenings, as Relax enjoys great popularity.

Kaiserschmarren is more like fried semolina pudding. Everything floats in oil in the serving pan.

We went there in the evening for a glass of wine. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. However, we had a woman with us who could only drink water, and when I asked for a slice of lemon for her water, we got one. However, we weren't told that a slice of lemon costs an extra €0.40. This surprised us when we were paying and left us truly stunned. We always get lemon or orange slices in our drinks, and I've never had to pay extra for them anywhere. It sounds silly, but afterward, we were all speechless, and it overshadowed the otherwise very pleasant evening.

Everything is just right here! Great food, great value for money, super friendly service, and everything is very cozy, whether inside or outside.

After waiting 45 minutes for our meal, a waiter came out ( we understood later he was the owner) to ask ( we believe ) if people were warm enough- the space heater was on behind me. I apologised that as English I did not understand. He said something to the adjacent couple whilst laughing pointing back at us with a “. English”. Clearly disparaging and rude we paid for the wine and left. There was no apology- just a throwaway comment that a 45 minute wait was ok. We walked down the road and had a lovely pizza LaStrada8 with courteous service.

A very beautiful and tastefully decorated restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu has something for every taste. We'd love to come back!

Modernly furnished restaurant, good lighting, excellent ambiance, fast service… but you should make a reservation! Reservations are not possible outside. We had a crisp, fresh side salad with a variety of ingredients. We should have shared one instead. On schnitzel day, despite high demand, the schnitzel was very well cooked and the size should not be underestimated! All in all, we'll be back because we both enjoy the varied menu! Note: How much you spend per person is always up to you!

I had a beef fillet, but it was very tough. The service was very reserved, more like a distance. Empty plates were cleared away even while the other five people were still eating. All in all, it was okay, but the food really wasn't that special. There are many better restaurants in Oberstdorf.

We were here for the first time today and actually planned to come back more often, as we were attracted by the chanterelle mushroom menu. But the summer salad was just a bit of green salad, and you can see what was underneath in the picture. Coleslaw and carrot salad, probably convenience foods. The salmon was either overcooked or frozen. Some white bread. The only fresh thing was the chanterelle mushrooms, and that cost €20.90. Once, never again.

I went there to eat this evening with my partner and a toddler. We were able to get a table outside very spontaneously (without a reservation). The food was very good. Unfortunately, we had to remind them of our included side salad, which was forgotten, but was brought very quickly. The restaurant is highly recommended, but if you're traveling with several friends or a larger family, a reservation would be advisable.

I was here on vacation with my father, stepmother, and little brother, and I have to say it was a very good and lovely restaurant. The food was delicious, even though I only had the penne arrabiata. But the others also enjoyed it very much. The service was probably the best I've ever seen. The chef walked around the restaurant the whole time, checking everything was in order. He was really very kind and humorous. When there was a small mistake in our order, he apologized profusely and even bought my little brother and me two scoops of ice cream each. The service was also very kind. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and made you feel at home. We sat inside, and there was a great atmosphere and it was easy to have a good conversation. The furniture was also very comfortable and nice. Overall, I can say it was definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever been to, especially because of the wonderful service and the delicious food. I highly recommend it!

We were a group of eight people for breakfast. Super friendly service, a great breakfast, and, above all, a warm drink was included, and you didn't have to pay extra to order one. A great, very pleasant atmosphere. The waitress kept coming by and asking if we had any requests or if everything was okay. Unfortunately, we didn't get the name of the waitress, who probably spoke with a Polish accent, but she was super nice. We really enjoyed our stay.

We've been going to Relax for over 25 years, which speaks for itself! Delicious food, a wide selection, from steak to vegan options to pizza. The portions are generous, the staff is very friendly, and the ambiance is modern and cozy.

No!! That was nothing at all... The service, at least the one who served us, was not friendly at all, more like annoyed. The service at the next table was very friendly, but that didn't help us. The Wiener schnitzel was a ready-made product, the steak was small and of poor quality. The vegetables were partially burnt, and the combination was inappropriate. Never again... but it was the only restaurant open for lunch.

I visited you the day before yesterday for dinner. I was really looking forward to this visit, as my visit nine months ago was a real treat. You can still read my comments from back then. So, strengthened by this good memory, I reserved a table for my daughter and me for 9 p.m. What a disappointment when I was greeted at the entrance with the words, "The kitchen is closing, you can only eat pizza and salads!" It was 8:55 p.m. No one can claim that was an encouraging welcome. I mentioned that I had come to this restaurant especially and was asked, given the time, to order my food quickly. I had never experienced anything like it before. In a city as touristy as yours, it's inconceivable that a kitchen closes at 9 p.m. Moreover, the two schnitzels were nowhere near as good as last time; they undoubtedly came from the deep fryer; it was very greasy. Visually, I could compare it with the photos from then and now. In short: double disappointment, reception and food.

We had lunch today. The service was very good. We ordered two schnitzels, pasta with salmon, and a salmon steak. Unfortunately, we waited about 60 minutes. During that time, three tables received their orders. It wouldn't have been a problem if the food had held up. The pasta was overly salty, and my son's schnitzel smelled of old grease from the pan. The service was a positive. The food was a bit of a disappointment.

Hunger and a desire for "Mediterranean cuisine and local delicacies from the region" lured us to Bistro Relax relatively spontaneously. We were lucky and managed to snag a free table. However, it's definitely recommended to reserve a table in advance. The team was consistently friendly and attentive, and the food was deliciously prepared! Decent food and mediocre service, including customer service. It's just another typical restaurant in a tourist town like Oberstdorf: it's all about raking in the cash from the tourists. A typical example was the chef/owner going about his business outside with a leaf blower or something similar while they were eating. The window was open, and inside, customers were sitting in the din. Simply put, there's little to no respect for the customers. The motto "cash is money" also applies to this restaurant, as does another "restaurant" in Oberstdorf where, coincidentally, the two owners have a partnership.

At first glance, the name 'Bar-Bistro Relax' didn't quite match what we were looking for. On the recommendation of our landlady, we decided to have dinner there and were pleasantly surprised. Behind the palm tree logo, which suggested a cocktail evening, we discovered a truly pleasant restaurant with a wide selection of diverse dishes. You'd think there'd be something for everyone here, from traditional cuisine to pizza. The food was excellent; the 'Oberstdorfer Pfanne' (sauté pan) was cooked to perfection, juicy, and exceptionally well-done. Our waiter, the 'Italian Allgäuer,' was very attentive and courteous, as were virtually all the staff we encountered... We gave it full marks, a hearty recommendation, and we'll definitely be back!

The food was outstanding, as always – the Oberstdorfer Pfanne (for meat lovers) is especially recommended. The service left nothing to be desired – the friendly Italian waiter, in particular, rounded off the evening with his charming manner and attentiveness. The ambiance was also impressive across the board: cozy, stylish, and decorated with great attention to detail. An all-round successful visit – highly recommended!

We were here with a larger group as part of the Oberstorf Photo Summit. Despite some requests for changes, everything went smoothly! We received friendly and courteous service! The food (I had beef fillet) was very good, although the portions of the same dishes were different. Apart from that, just one more thing: not everyone who looks at the menu after paying checks the price. Maybe they're just looking at the different breweries.

We came from Poland to Germany for a holiday, we are in this place for the second time and we were not disappointed. The food is very tasty. The service is very nice and professional. The boss himself came to us personally to ask if everything tasted good and if everything was OK. The place is at a high level. I recommend.
