Bistro Restaurant Relax Oberstdorf in Oberstdorf

Very nice service, great atmosphere, but the food was so-so. The asparagus was too hard for me, and the fried potatoes with bacon and onions were unfortunately nothing. The onions were only briefly sautéed and had no color, and the same with the bacon. They were also swimming in fat. That definitely needs improvement.

We were there one afternoon and just had a drink in the bar area. Our small dog (5 kg) lay well under the table. Since we liked the atmosphere, I wanted to book a table for the next day, preferably by the window facing the street. We were told that if we came in the afternoon we didn't have to make a reservation; then everything is usually free. The next day we went there around 3 p.m. and wanted to sit at a table by the window. The waitress said that this was not allowed with a dog. You would then have to sit at the front of the guest room (directly behind the entrance door). We then noted that we had not been told this the day before. It was also strange that four people with dogs were already sitting there. But she wasn't interested. So we left the restaurant and looked for something else. Absolutely not recommended for dog owners and the handling was bottom drawer.

Just for coffee. The food wasn't great.

We have rarely been welcomed so warmly. The Relax team is very attentive and the food was delicious. We've been there three times and will definitely come back again. Top!!

One evening, five adults and I spontaneously arrived for dinner – and it was our first visit to this restaurant. What was particularly great was that we were seated immediately, despite the rush hour. After we were seated and our drinks were served, we were in for a big surprise when a familiar face served us: a waiter we had known for years from other restaurants, but had then lost touch! The joy of seeing each other again was immense on both sides. The service was first-class: fast, attentive, and extremely friendly. The food was simply delicious, and everyone of us loved it! The dishes were beautifully presented, not only for us but also on our neighbors' plates. The portion sizes were also very good and more than sufficient for all of our dishes! The ambiance in the restaurant also impressed us: stylish, cozy, and inviting. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for the wonderful evening!

A pleasant, busy restaurant with a casual atmosphere. Extensive menu with a variety of dishes. We had several meat dishes and salmon that were all equally good! Good Aviko fries, from the Achterhoek, but also deliciously prepared here! The ice cream for dessert was a big one! The coffee could be better, but we are used to that in Germany.

It all looked good and most of it tasted good, but I could smell and taste that the oil used to cook the meat and fish was too old, and that's unhealthy.

Cozy restaurant with friendly staff… always ready with a nice saying. We can recommend both the Kaiserschmarren and the Bauernpfanne - both very tasty and plentiful.

What a great shop. Whether for breakfast, snack, lunch or dinner. You feel right at home. You are even welcome at the bar just for wheat beer. The charming ladies can tell you what you want just by looking at their eyes. Come home to Oberstdorf for a quick break and relax with Katja and the holiday can begin.

Excellent food with a very good price/performance ratio. Both the meat in the Oberstdorfer pan and my mother's pike perch were cooked to perfection and not dry or dead. The Flädlesuppe beforehand was strong and tasty. Side dishes (cheese spaetzle, baked potato and small side salad) were very tasty. The only point of criticism about the food: For a mushroom cream sauce, there were few mushrooms in it, which could easily be more than 2 slices. Unfortunately we didn't manage to finish dessert because the portions were large enough. We'll do that on our next visit. I found the ambience a bit dark for my taste, but as we all know, tastes are different. Regarding the service, it should be said that the two ladies were very friendly, the orders were taken quickly and delivered quickly. However, I had the impression that one of the two didn't really know the menu. Regardless of whether the order was ordered by number or by name of the dish, she could only assign it after the dish was shown to her on the menu. That shouldn't actually happen, but of course you shouldn't always expect absolute perfectionism. However, it doesn't change the overall impression. Conclusion: recommendable and again at any time.

Cozy atmosphere and hearty food with large portions, which we couldn't manage. When we asked, the rest was packed up for us without any problem, so we can have some again this evening ☺️

Beautiful, cozy restaurant in the center of Oberstdorf. Very tasty prepared dishes. My personal recommendation is the gourmet pan. But the grilled turkey steak with the incredibly delicious home-made fries is also highly recommended. Plus a side salad.

When we are in Oberstdorf, we always like to come here. Everything is great. The food is super delicious. We are already looking forward to the next visit.

We came here based on a recommendation and the good reviews. Unfortunately our experience was different. For me it was below average. I didn't find the service really friendly, the quality of the food was so-so for me...the breading on the schnitzel had a strange consistency. Unfortunately there was very little sauce for the dry meal, and the table next door had also ordered it. This was billed additionally...... The decoration was really cool. Otherwise, I found the visit to be a quick mass processing. There are much better schnitzels elsewhere.

Unfortunately my food didn't taste good at all. The pepper sauce was just spicy and you couldn't taste any of the rest of the food. And I say that as someone who likes to eat spicy food. However, it has to fit the dish. My girlfriend had a schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce. You had to look for the mushrooms with a magnifying glass and there was far too little sauce. We then asked for more sauce and it was even charged extra for it. I absolutely cannot recommend the store.

Always had the best experiences for many years

The two of us went to the restaurant without a reservation. We had expected a wait and were then directed to the bar where we were only asked after about 15 minutes if we would like to order a drink, even though there wasn't much going on at the bar. Other guests, also without a reservation, who were also told to wait, were given a table before us. (There were also 2 people) While we were choosing our food, the waitress stood at the table the whole time, even though we said we needed a moment, which made us feel a little uneasy. As far as the food is concerned, it was very, very tasty, good and definitely worth recommending. The only thing that needs to be improved is the staff and service, especially because it is a slightly more upscale restaurant

As always when we are in Oberstdorf, Relax is a must visit. Today we didn't make a reservation, but we still got a table in the very busy restaurant. The staff, 4 different people served us, were extremely friendly. The food was once again a poem, today Tafelspitz. The owner was available for a short chat about my questions about Immenstadt and Oberstdorf. Also very friendly. The entire atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant.

I ate a relax burger there. The bun was burnt, I complained about it, but it didn't matter.

For us as regular guests over the years, the restaurant has been our absolute favorite restaurant! The food is super tasty, fresh and varied. Domenico in particular does a great job and is very friendly! Thank you for existing!

The bistro itself is cozy and we often had a solid meal. Today, despite having a reservation, we were greeted with a shrug of the shoulders and assigned to occupy an unpleasant spot in a corner. That was very rude, but it had never happened before.

Sooooo, if you expect that you can eat well and cheaply in a holiday mecca like Oberstdorf, you can stop reading at this point! The prices quoted for the dishes are between €20 and €30. Aaaallerding.....!☝️ Men are served portion sizes that fill them up and portion sizes that torment women's stomachs! It's all very well done!!!☝️ At least for those who like this type of food. The atmosphere is very nice and stylish, neo-rustic and cozy. The name Bistro Relax is even more confusing. What I imagine is more of a modern skier catering for a lift station. We visited the Bistro Christmas Eve 2024. Despite the very busy crowds and hectic hustle and bustle, the fast, attentive and extremely friendly service still seemed quite relaxed!!! The day's excursion to Oberstdorf was very successful.

Food good, scope very good, price reasonable.

We pre-ordered and picked up a 3-course menu for Christmas Eve. The waiting time for pickup was sweetened with an espresso. The food was delicious from start to finish, definitely recommended!

We were there today with 4 people Relax and eat comfortably. We are ourselves working in the catering industry and know how It's difficult to have good, high-quality food to offer this appropriately. We think the prices are completely reasonable and if you pay attention to the little things, like fresh flowers, decorations, etc. and it all costs money, the prices are completely reasonable. The food and the feel-good factor in the restaurant are really very appealing and we would come again, but…….which is not possible. We ordered 3x veal chops with croquettes. My wife wanted fries instead of croquettes and we later discovered on the bill that we had paid €2 for the change. For what please? At least that's what we could have been told beforehand. We found a whopping 4 croquettes on our plate. We complained about that and we got 4 more croquettes together. Very nice, but on the bill this appeared as an additional item at €3.50 for 4 croquettes. Crazy...croquettes don't take any effort and cost really little. That really annoyed us because we spent almost 140€ for 4 people and then they fudged around for 4 croquettes and asked for another 2€ to change the order. Not like that, dear Relax owners. This is called max. profit taking. We certainly won't be coming back. I'm really sorry for the review, the rest was really prepared with a lot of love and effort.

The restaurant is perfectly located and beautifully decorated. The Italian waiter, like all the staff, was very attentive and courteous. He also made sure that we were each served a Wiener Schnitzel 10 minutes after the kitchen closed. The food was perfect. We will definitely come back.

Unfortunately, only those guests who the boss knows personally are given a warm welcome in this restaurant. The others are tolerated so that they can consume! And if when making a reservation you are asked whether it is always possible to order from the normal menu, which is confirmed, in reality it is not the case. It's a shame for this restaurant. The food is good. That's the only way we'll never go to this restaurant again, which the boss probably doesn't care about.

Always friendly, approachable and sometimes - if there is time - a short, nice conversation. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, what comes out of the kitchen tastes good and is sufficient! Price and performance are right, as is the ambience. When we left the restaurant we always left in a good mood and looked forward to the next visit. Thank you very much to all of you. The only restaurant that was open at the beginning of December and wasn't closed. The store was correspondingly full. Basically there is nothing to complain about. The service was nice, the food arrived quickly and it tasted quite good.

I am very angry following the behavior of the server!! We booked for 8 p.m. Accepted. We are given 5 minutes to make our choice, not one more. Pressure from the start of the evening... as soon as we finish our meals, the plates are collected. We understood that we had to act quickly. The reward for this beautiful evening? We are asked to pay in cash!! Supposedly their credit card machine does not work. We explain to him that we have nothing on us. We are asked to go outside to withdraw money. We have not given in to such behavior. By some miracle, their device works!! Scandalous method. Address to avoid for foreigners!!

It's always nice to come here, the atmosphere is really nice, the first time I ate here, I ordered pizza and was totally impressed, it tasted really perfect, there was nothing to complain about. Went in spontaneously, prices were ok. Had tomato soup which wasn't quite hot. The mountain cheese soup was delicious. The main course is the farmer's feast and the onion roast. Both delicious.

Whenever we are in Oberstdorf this is a good place to eat. Even when it's full, there's always a place, and even if you have to wait a moment, you can just linger at the counter. Big praise to all the staff, always very friendly. We'd love to come back.

Well located and nice location in Oberstdorf. Only - the main room lacks sound absorbing elements - quite loud when full. The food is good, pizza is better from the Italian restaurant. As in many restaurants, more (warm) vegetables or a vegetarian selection would be desirable. All in all, happy again.

Friendly service, baked potatoes with scampi and salad were great, the boiled meat with savoy cabbage horseradish was a bit weak when it came to the horseradish. It was very drafty in the restaurant. Still a recommendation.

Restaurant (actually bistro) in the pedestrian zone that can be reached very quickly and easily from the bus/train station. Very nice cozy atmosphere. Large selection of food (pizza/pasta/schnitzel/steak) at reasonable prices. Top fresh quality. Very tasty crispy thin pizzas. Schnitzel day on Wednesdays, fish day on Fridays. "Offshoot" of the "Wildes Männle" inn, some of the same dishes.

Ambiance is ok, staff is acceptable, unfortunately the kitchen is much worse than before. You can tell that a lot of work is done with ready meals and flavor enhancers (glutamate), especially sauces.

We ate at Relax on October 26th, 2024. The menu is very balanced and there was something for everyone. The food was very tasty and the staff was very attentive and very friendly. Our special thanks go to Domenico! He brings his competent, friendly personality and that gives the restaurant a special touch. Keep it up! Next to the food, the staff is one of the most important assets for a good restaurant.

Have been guests at Relax for years. There's not much to tell... because we travel a lot in the motorhome, we see a lot. The relaxation is one of the best in Germany that we have been able to enjoy up to that point. Price and service are still very fair. Just experience it for yourself 👍👍👍

Very bad service, ordered scrambled eggs for breakfast, the waitress forgot, it was the boss's fault, the waitress had to run to the bakery and get a pretzel. I actually just wanted to have breakfast in peace with my partner. A second cup of coffee could only be ordered much too late because no one was looking after the guests. Second cup of coffee is far too expensive compared to breakfast, where a cup is integrated. I'd rather go have breakfast somewhere else soon.

We went to Relax for dinner several times. There is a large selection of food. We were thrilled every time. The food is well prepared, tasty and the portions are more than sufficient. Since the restaurant is very busy, we made reservations in advance. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Keep it up!!!! We'll definitely be back.

We had reserved two days in advance and were actually seated in the “Schalkeraum”. In my opinion it's "everything is full, then we'll take the fan room". Location. Ambience zero. Are out there immediately. We could have saved ourselves the reservation. After 10 minutes we were offered another table in the entrance area. It was okay. Food was delicious. Would have liked to have dessert, but there were too many guests for the staff. Nobody asked us and we didn't want to do it anymore. When we paid, we were lucky that the card machine was still in use...it was already issued at 8 p.m. We will visit other restaurants next time. Today we were just too disappointed. But as I said, the food was great and the staff was friendly too.

The breakfast for two is large and varied.
