We attended the schnitzel night/schnitzel buffet for the first time and were thrilled. The food was delicious, and despite the restaurant being full, the staff was very quick and friendly. We felt completely at ease that evening.

It's just as the stars show! The owner cooks very well and serves the food herself! She also enjoys interacting with her guests. We stayed at the inn in conjunction with the nearby hospital. Unfortunately, we had bad weather, but even that didn't spoil the experience. I highly recommend it!

The food was excellent, homemade, you could even hear the meat pounding. The fries were fresh off the potatoes... Friendly service who also knew how to have a sense of humor. When we arrived, it wasn't really busy. Nevertheless, almost all the tables were dirty, covered in crumbs, had stains on the tablecloths, and it smelled strange. We left right away because we didn't want to know the conditions under which food was prepared here.

Upon entering the inn, there was no greeting and a grumpy demeanor. So I immediately left through the entrance. Not recommended. It smelled like a toilet.

The food was good value for money. The staff was very friendly, and the freshly pounded schnitzel arrived promptly. The interior wasn't to my taste, but it was clean.

I was here 4 years ago, and the food was good, with friendly staff in dirndls. Now the whole place resembles a snack bar. Three large bags of garden waste are next to the stairs. The glasses are dirty, and the food, if there's any left, is mediocre. But worst of all, the cook, who served the food in a shirt and work shorts, and dirty to boot! Guys, this isn't going to work, what a pity! According to all their responses here to the same old reviews, they need to learn to accept criticism and turn the negative into positive. Then this great place can continue for a long time. I also have to deal with criticism at work and see it as an opportunity to do something better! Good luck.

Time has stood still in this restaurant, but not for the better, but it also fits in with the surroundings, which also radiate this feeling. Due to a lack of staff, drinks and food must be ordered at the counter. Payment is also made at the counter, so it's best to return the dishes immediately. It's more of a snack bar with seating than a restaurant. At least you don't have to wash the dishes yourself. The food was okay, and the portions were decent. Dog-friendly - we were able to enter the dining room with two dogs without any problems. 👍 It's sad to see that they're obviously fighting for survival there. There are already plenty of vacant properties in the area, and I fear the beautiful view will soon be one of them. What a shame, really...

The food was good but I wouldn't recommend it

I didn't eat any food, I was given a glass of water, it was so dirty 🙈 Service wasn't friendly, and it wasn't clean either... What a shame, actually a good location.

The atmosphere was very nice. At first, everything was fine. We were given the menu with the words, "It's self-service," which wasn't a problem for us either. On the other hand, it wasn't busy. I ordered our drinks and then our food. I wanted sausage salad with fries. The hostess said that wasn't possible because of the dressing. I didn't understand, they could serve it in a separate bowl. We would have paid extra, too. Then I wanted schnitzel with pepper sauce, which wasn't available either. Then I wanted it with mushrooms, and the answer was, "I don't have any sauces." If they had told us from the beginning that they were out of sauces, that would have been fine. But I got the impression that they wanted to make money, but didn't feel like working. It's a shame, because the food that was brought to other tables looked very delicious. The customer is king, but that doesn't seem to count here.

Beautiful weather on a Sunday afternoon... the beer garden is unkempt and lacks ambiance. No greeting? No welcome. Staff sit inside and chat, no service in the garden. The water glass was dirty. Apparently no interest in customers. The view? A highway... Get out quickly! Creepy.

So I expected more. Schnitzel and fries were too dry. Some of the pork medallions were still bloody. The side salad had been sitting for a while and was brown in places. The apple juice spritzer also tasted stale. The ashtray on the table was still full from the day before. All in all, I paid too much money and was very disappointed. Definitely still has room for improvement. I wish you the best of luck. We won't be coming again.

The Coke glass was completely dirty. The food was either wrong or missing something. Schnitzel topped with bacon, egg, and cheese. We searched in vain for the bacon. Ordered schnitzel with mushroom sauce. There were no mushrooms, just pepper in a flour mush. Never again

We were greeted unfriendly upon arrival. Absolutely filthy, the floor was dirty, and the windowsills were covered in dead flies in various stages of decomposition. Another couple was eating at the same time and confirmed to us that it would be better to leave without eating. The restroom was in extremely poor condition. It should be inspected by the authorities. When we asked the staff about the conditions, they rudely replied that we could clean there if we didn't like something... never again. The view

After searching Bad Steben for an open restaurant serving local food without success, we stumbled upon this place through Google. The ambiance was a bit rustic, but that didn't detract from the quality of the food. Delicious spaetzle and a crispy schnitzel were unthinkable. What mother and daughter delivered here was top-notch. We're keeping our fingers crossed that you might still find someone to serve you. A definite recommendation from us!

Mixed Experience We recently ate there and unfortunately didn't have a particularly good experience. The schnitzel had a neon-pink discoloration in the meat, which definitely didn't belong there and seemed very unappetizing. The overall ambiance was a bit worn – some tables seemed older and not particularly well-maintained, although not all of them were in bad condition. Drinks were poured at a self-service stand, and you could see them being poured from plastic bottles into glasses. The Spezi was still slightly fizzy, but the warm temperature made it seem almost stale. The restrooms were unfortunately not particularly clean, which further spoiled the overall impression. On the plus side, the beer was really good, though. Overall, our visit was rather disappointing – there's significant room for improvement in the food, the service concept, and the overall impression.

We went to the country inn on Sunday lunchtime. It was very tasty and hats off to an innkeeper who manages the kitchen and service for 20 people on his own. I know how it works in the catering industry. Drinks were taken, food was ordered and you are not on the run. Just take a deep breath and relax. I think that with freshly prepared food it should not be a problem to wait a bit.

The food is excellent. Absolutely recommended. That's why you go. The service (the boss "still" does everything herself) can be a bit rude at times. Special requests depend on the day. We didn't have any "extra sausage" and were served politely and properly. Ambience... Very disorganized, but there are a few nice corners with an old-fashioned restaurant feel. The beer garden is great. Conclusion: If you want good home cooking, then go there. You have to accept the boss and the restaurant as it is. I hope the boss gets some good reinforcements in the service department soon so she can concentrate on her strengths in the kitchen.

A very relaxed atmosphere with delicious food (we had schnitzel and cordon bleu) and great beers. A place to unwind. We'll definitely be back!

Once and never again I don't even know where to begin. We were greeted by the waitress with a full mouth and half a cake in her hand – that says it all. Drinks were served right away, but the "water" came from a Saskia bottle from Lidl. That's unacceptable in a restaurant. A menu? None. Instead, everything was verbally listed – no choice at all: schnitzel in countless variations (all convenience store-bought) and cheese spaetzle, which was more reminiscent of packaged mac and cheese. We were actually expecting something completely different, because the online menu showed a completely different one. Very misleading! The restaurant itself wasn't particularly clean, and I should have left immediately after using the restroom. The look of the kitchen and staff was also rather off-putting – everything gave a rather unkempt impression. The food: A ready-made schnitzel from the deep fryer with some fries for €18 – way too expensive for what you get. The "salad" consisted of a few cucumbers, a tomato, and iceberg lettuce, simply slapped together and drizzled with ready-made dressing. We (and one other person) were the only guests. Nevertheless, we had to wait to pay because the waitress had to come back from smoking. And as if that weren't enough, they started loudly discussing swinger clubs – extremely unpleasant, especially with three children at the table. The only positive thing: The two ladies were friendly. But that was it. Conclusion: Been there once is enough. Unfortunately, nothing was right there.

In short, absolutely not recommended! The menu wasn't handed to you, but rather recited verbally. The food was frozen, which is absolutely not recommended. Afterwards, I received a bill that was absolutely outrageously high. I didn't even get a receipt. Even the beer glass was dirty. I will definitely never go here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

The food was very OK, but the selection was very limited. However, it's not OK to be able to read the menu on the very friendly manager's T-shirt, to be greeted at the entrance with a water bowl full of cigarettes, and to enter a smelly dining room whose floor was last mopped too long ago. The Google images don't reflect the situation as of June 2025. It's a shame, it could be better.

The food was okay. The selection was very limited. At 6:20 p.m., we were the only customers, but a few more arrived later. The place is really showing its age, and it seems they rarely clean it.

Hello, we were here for lunch today. We had Wiener Schnitzel with potatoes and asparagus. We would have liked some sauce with it; it was very dry. The waitress also seemed very unkempt. All in all, we were full, but I can't really recommend the restaurant.

We were able to enjoy a relatively spontaneous meal for the holiday with a group of 21 people. The food was delicious, and I was absolutely stuffed. I was thrilled with the schnitzel variations, and it's great when it's not just the standard fries and salad. That we were unexpectedly able to dance and party in broad daylight was fantastic... we wouldn't have imagined it on such a rainy morning. The two girls in the service and kitchen are truly fantastic. Keep up the good work!

We stumbled upon the Schöne Aussicht quite by chance while hiking. With almost unbeatable beer prices, delicious and plentiful food, and even a bit of disco fox, the time flew by. It was a real treat; we'll definitely be back.

Friendly staff, good food, and reasonable prices. We sat outside on the terrace with our dog. We could have gone inside, but the weather was too nice on a Sunday. It's also a great place to stop for a break while hiking or cycling.

A dirty floor isn't a problem after a thunderstorm, but the tablecloth was covered in dirt, making the floor look clean. It was only guests number 3 and 4, but apparently they didn't have time to clean the tables. The order was out of stock, so we left without food. The service was unfriendly and lacked good looks. You can dress appropriately in a restaurant.

I've been there several times, and the food is always excellent. I'll definitely go again 😍 The staff is very friendly and helpful with meal advice. If you're unsure, they're happy to help. Simply perfect 👌 😍 I'd be happy to go back again. And very reasonably priced.

Country inn with a beautiful natural setting. We were there for lunch. Unfortunately, we had to wait 1 hour 40 minutes from the time we ordered for the food. The shoulder of pork was large, super tasty, and nicely crispy! Unfortunately, it only came with a spoonful of cabbage and a little sauce. Pork medallions – 3 dry medallions, 3 spears of asparagus, and 1.5 potatoes. The guest wasn't full 😅

A cozy spot high above Bad Steben, with rustic, authentic Franconian cuisine! 👍🏼 Also highly recommended as a short evening hike for rehab guests, or on weekends with the whole family... Okay, the food might deserve 2-3 stars, I had schnitzel Viennese style with three asparagus spears and fried potatoes. The asparagus and the fried potatoes were not salted, so I wanted to add more salt, but the salt shaker has such big holes that the fried potatoes were quickly over-salted and I couldn't eat them. Maybe that's my fault. However, I had to wait half an hour before I could place my order. And then a whopping 90 minutes passed for the schnitzel and the three stalks of asparagus. This is underground and therefore not a recommendation for this inn.

We were there for lunch today. The schnitzels were very good. I got a sauce with it upon request. There is also a beer garden right next to it, which is definitely a good place to stay in warmer temperatures. Rounds are walking routes. Therefore a good destination with great food

Highly recommended. Went to the buffet dinner yesterday. It tasted very good and was freshly prepared. Also very affordable all you can eat €16.90. Many different types of meat and also shish kebab. Various side dishes such as potato salad, potato gratin, cheese spaetzle. Sandwiches. Salad, fruit, dessert. Drinks were also good and inexpensive (1/2 liter beer 2.90). Was there on Sunday at 2pm, an hour before closing. At the beginning the service was a bit rough when we asked for coffee and cake. We were given coffee in a more friendly manner, but she doesn't have any cake because she closes in an hour.

Everything was a bit old, but the Cordon Bleu was great and freshly prepared. There was nothing to complain about. Delicious 👍🏼

Not recommended in my opinion! Service is not very motivated, not everyone has to work in service. Everything was a bit grubby all around, I'm glad I didn't order food there. Even the coffee didn't taste good, a few more beans wouldn't have been bad. We had to go to the waitress to pay, otherwise it would have gotten dark! It's really a shame because the restaurant is in a great location 🙄

We rode our bikes and had lunch in the beer garden. Food was freshly prepared and was very tasty. Portions are large and the taste cannot be faulted. There is a playground for kids. The drinks are freshly tapped and nice and cold and there is a sufficient selection. There was definitely nothing to complain about.

I was here a few times during my rehab in September, both for dinner and just in the beer garden in the evening. The food tastes very good and the prices are more than affordable. The landlady runs the restaurant here alone with a lot of passion and commitment. If I ever come to Bad Steben again, I will definitely come back. 100% recommendation.

We were at the country inn today and were so excited. The owner cooks everything herself, nothing is ready-made here, we are very impressed. It was super delicious!!! By the way, the owner built everything here herself and has shown a good knack for coziness and ambience. So, the visit is worth it.

The food was tasteless. But what was really disturbing was the lack of cleanliness in the dining room and not to mention the toilets...
