We recently went to a country inn for goose. At €39, it was completely unreasonable; the leg was totally dry and the food was served lukewarm – very disappointing. However, the service was very attentive and the ambiance was lovely.

Restaurant near Saalburg with average food, a sufficiently large parking lot, and a very spacious dining room. Friendly waitresses (female), somewhat affected waitresses (male). We were a party of eight; one or two were very satisfied, three or four less so.

A restaurant with good food and a high-quality atmosphere – a true marvel! We were there with a large group (approx. 25 people, with a reservation) and everything worked out perfectly.

The food was very good and prepared with care. The pumpkin ravioli were innovative and perfectly balanced, but the portion could have been larger. Friendly service.

Simply fantastic! We ate there on Saturday with a group of over 40 people, and it was fantastic. We had a huge buffet with several hot and cold dishes, and it tasted so good. I can only recommend it to anyone who's nearby and wants something delicious to eat, great service, and a rustic atmosphere.

Great restaurant in a superb location in the Taunus Mountains. Just a 3-minute walk from Saalburg Castle. We were there with a group of over 40 people over the weekend and were served a buffet that couldn't even begin to be rated 5 stars. The selection and quality were absolutely amazing. There was something for everyone... and if you didn't get full, it was your own fault. Definitely recommended for any occasion.

I ate at the Landhaus today and I'm absolutely thrilled! The ambiance is beautiful – rustic, warm, and cozy, you immediately feel welcome. We had the buffet, and it was simply fantastic: plentiful, incredibly delicious, and made with fresh ingredients. Every dish was lovingly prepared and tasted amazing! The service was also excellent – ​​friendly, courteous, and helpful. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit that I highly recommend. I'll definitely be back!

I was there with my best friend on Sunday, October 12, 2025, and just had a drink..... We were greeted immediately and very warmly and were assigned a nice table without a reservation! The service staff was absolutely top-notch! Attentive, but not intrusive or intrusive in the slightest! A huge thank you, especially to Kamilha!!! With her extremely charming and personable manner, it was easy and a pleasure to strike up a conversation with her! We really felt very comfortable and will definitely be back, with more time to let the cuisine impress us!

Good food, very friendly and attentive service

Wonderful food with a great atmosphere, right on the way to Saalburg Castle. We now go here regularly whenever there's something to celebrate. The service is very attentive, friendly, and up for a joke. The food has always been delicious, hot, and, apart from the amount of side dishes, the portion sizes are also great. We'd be happy to come back anytime!

We've been there many times now (10+ times), and I can honestly say: The ambiance is very nice. The food is fantastic for the price. The service is good, and we keep coming back. Ultimately, I can say: It's great food with superb service! Anyone expecting Michelin-star quality, with small portions, delicately presented dishes, and a lot of frills, is in the wrong place. It's all about the taste, and it's absolutely superb.

We spontaneously stopped by on Whit Monday around lunchtime and managed to snag a table. Very friendly, prompt staff, great view, delicious food (snack platter, Frankfurter schnitzel, strawberry cake), and the prices were totally reasonable. We highly recommend it.

The occasion was a birthday party with about 35-40 people. The hostess had ordered a buffet. The food (Italian dishes) was okay, but unfortunately, the quality and taste weren't that great.

The ceremony was very atmospheric, but I would just like to point out that they would have liked to have had a few more seats. A huge compliment to the service staff – absolutely fantastic, super friendly, attentive, and always on hand. We would also like to give a special shout-out to Marigona: Even during the planning phase, she was always available to answer any questions we had, which gave us a great sense of security. Even though not everything we had brought with us was fully set up, in the end, everything was so harmonious that it became an unforgettable celebration. The atmosphere was fantastic, and we had a fantastic party that we and our guests will remember for a long time. A pleasant place: perfect food, friendly and efficient service.

We celebrated our wedding at the beautiful Landgasthof Saalburg on July 25, 2025, and we're thrilled with how wonderful it was. We've never been to a restaurant with such friendly, helpful, and amiable staff. There were no problems at all, and the organization was excellent. We'd like to thank the entire team and highly recommend the venue.

We always love coming here. Rarely is a restaurant where you receive such a warm, personal welcome as here. The service is very quick, and the food is delicious! We especially appreciate the seasonal menu! Absolutely fantastic! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!

A beautiful restaurant in a historic setting, ideal for celebrations or a cozy meal with a small group. The menu is varied and the dishes are delicious.

After a visit to Hessenpark, I went there for dinner with guests from the USA. I really regretted my recommendation to try "Handkäs mit Musik." I eat it quite often in Frankfurt and the surrounding area. But this was definitely the worst Handkäs I've ever eaten – rock-hard, dry, and still white inside. There was far too little bread for four people, and even that was bone-dry. When I pointed this out, the waitress just shrugged her shoulders… a real shame, considering the restaurant's beautiful location.

Time seems to have stood still in this place, and we're transported to the late '70s and early '80s, an elegant restaurant with a conservative decor and menu, featuring very friendly service, yet with the stiffness of that era. A must for nostalgics.

We didn't make a reservation, but we were kindly shown a table. We then ordered drinks and were asked 2 more times if we wanted to order drinks. They then forgot to bring us our drinks and we re-ordered our drinks when we were asked again for our order. The staff then got two-thirds of our order correct! The staff is friendly, but seem to mostly walk around in a state of confusion. We decided against ordering food, afraid we might starve to death. Also, one of our companions got a bit disoriented by the angle of the terrace, which has a very definite slant. The menu was a bit underwhelming, but the atmosphere is quite nice, and really, at least they have lots of staff ready to be of service! Update: we just got given knives and forks. Update2: we just got brought someone's food.

We celebrated our wedding in the grand hall and were treated with respect from the very first moment. The staff is friendly, competent, and reliable, individual requests are easily accommodated, and the location offers great opportunities for customization. Prices are transparent and fair, so you always have an overview of all costs. We also like to stop here during our free time while hiking or cycling for lunch or a short rest on the terrace.

The quality of the food has declined significantly – and the prices are very high. The veal schnitzel from the daily special with asparagus and potatoes was a disappointment: tiny (not even the size of a cell phone), extremely thin, and the asparagus was partially brown, poorly peeled, overcooked, and tasted unfresh. Charging €29.90 for this is truly outrageous. The next table was served a veal schnitzel from the regular menu for €24.90 – with about four times the amount of schnitzel. If I order the dish with asparagus and pay €5 more, I expect the same amount of schnitzel. The rump steak came cooked all the way through despite being ordered "medium," and the Parmesan chicken from the daily special was not only far too small but also cold. It didn't fill you up at all. It should have been offered as an appetizer. None of the dishes were worth the money. An absolute disappointment, and we were all very annoyed about it. The only excuse given was that it was very busy that day – we don't accept that. When you charge prices like that, the quality has to be right – regardless of the crowds. We used to enjoy being guests, but unfortunately, this was our last visit, as the previous visit wasn't that great either. We won't be recommending it to anyone.

The food, the ambience and the service are very good. What I find negative is that it is not declared on the internet that there is a limited menu on these days. We wanted to eat game dishes that weren't available. If these dishes are not offered, for whatever reason, you should do so online. note

Food great, price a bit too high. But it's normal for an excursion restaurant. Staff super friendly. Parking spaces in front of the restaurant. Terrace in the back area, you almost sit in the forest.

I visited this place some years ago for the first time, after last experience I will surely never come back. Long waiting time, wrong delivery (not what I had ordered), weird mix of meat and very sweet Waffel and, all, an increasingly poor service. The table towel was dirty. Never again!

We were there on Saturday at 12 p.m. and got a seat without any problem. Very nice and attentive staff, even special requests are taken into account. The food was very tasty and plentiful, the rump steak was a bit overdone, even though it was medium rare. The ambience is upscale rustic with beautiful views and reasonable prices. All in all, a stop during a visit to the Saalburg is definitely worth it.

I can only recommend the Landgasthof Saalburg to everyone! From dinner to a big celebration, you can have a great time here. From planning to implementation, you are in the best hands here. Not only is the location special, but the food and service are also excellent. I always enjoy coming here, no matter what the occasion.

Visited again for 2 years. Unfortunately, the food has diminished. All salt-free food, few spices and therefore flat in taste. The price-performance ratio doesn't fit.

Clear recommendation. The atmosphere is cozy and chic (white starched tablecloths, freshly set for every new guest). Very clean (also the toilets, which isn't found everywhere these days). Attentive, quick and friendly service. And the food tasted very good. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent price-performance ratio. I cook very well myself and had nothing to complain about. I would give a 6th star because the food came to the table really hot and not just lukewarm, as is usually the case. And not just me, I heard similar comments from the neighboring tables.

Whole goose - unfortunately big disappointment The goose shown was certainly not what was served to us in parts much later (too little meat). We always look forward to the first Christmas goose every year. Unfortunately, the first bite was very disappointing as the sauce didn't have the delicious taste of a roast goose at all (certainly a cheap finished product). It's difficult to understand, because good sauce actually results from proper preparation. The meat was OK, the skin wasn't particularly crispy. The service is friendly and attentive. However, despite the complaint and €300 in sales, not even one round reparation. It was certainly our first and last visit - it's a shame!

Weihnachten auf der Saalburg ist absolut zu empfehlen! Der Service immer freundlich, das Essen sehr lecker und reichlich. Obwohl sehr viel los war, hat alles wunderbar geklappt, auch wenn der Kaffee ein bisschen länger gedauert hat als üblich, bei dem Betrieb aber absolut verständlich. Wir kommen wieder :)

The price/performance ratio for the starters/salads is outrageous for what is served to you. 16€ for a Rapunzel salad where there was a crumb of goat cheese on it, the croutons were missing and the amount of salad was outrageously small even for a side salad (unfortunately I forgot to take a photo). The waitress was made aware of the missing ingredients, no apology or anything like that. just snarky comments. That was the case again with the main course. Overall, the service was subpar in terms of politeness and speed. Food was okay but as written above, the price/performance ratio wasn't right, the venison goulash was ready-made dumplings. It was a try, I'll stick with this one. If you want to belong to the higher-end gastronomy, there has to be a lot more.

We have been satisfied guests of this restaurant for years and appreciate the consistently high quality of the food and the excellent service. We ate a Kaiser soup and goose breast. Everything to the best of our satisfaction and to be recommended without exception!

A whole group of us were there recently. We meet every year on Repentance and Prayer Day to eat goose. Everyone is swooning because of the current prices. The prices are so high that people leave the restaurant with drinks costing around 60 to 70 euros per head. This is very, very expensive for a restaurant. Unfortunately, this is almost the same picture almost everywhere. No wonder when guests stay away from restaurants. You can't blame everything on corona either. But there are other places that, thanks to advance orders and at least 4 people, offer goose with stuffing, glazed chestnut dumplings and apple red cabbage with Brussels sprouts and baked apples in orange sauce at a significantly lower price. Here in the country inn you can get a goose breast with dumplings and red cabbage and sauce for a high price of 30 euros per portion. Glazed chestnuts cost almost €10. That brings the meal alone to almost 50 euros. A positive aspect is the friendly team that always welcomes and serves guests with fun and know-how. The ambience has been the same for decades and is no longer up to date.

Were on Sunday today when it was really full...reserved of course. Service was super nice, quick and always smiling. There were 7 of us and everyone loved the food. I had salmon with asparagus and potatoes and a salad before that. A poem (there will be a photo next time) there is a photo of the dessert...also a poem. Looking forward to the next time. Were there again today spontaneously and without a reservation..even though it was really full there was a table for 3 😊 it was again soooo delicious and everyone was so nice and accommodating..Thank you, we'll be happy to come back.

Das Essen war grottenschlecht und völlig überteuert. Beispiel: Kürbissuppe für 8,50 Euro - ca 50 ml in einer winzigen Tasse. Geschmack wie aus der Büchse. So setzte sich das fort, Schnitzel waren vorgefertigte Patties etc. etc.

We celebrated our silver wedding anniversary in the inn. The inn was extremely flexible, even with last-minute changes, the food, service and ambience were top and the price was fair. We'd love to come back.

We decorated a birthday there. A wonderful place, far away from a residential area, so you can celebrate loudly. There is a banquet hall. The administrator is very friendly, responsible and does not refuse help. it was pleasant to work here. And celebrating is even better 😉

We went to the Landgasthof Saalburg in the afternoon quite spontaneously and without a reservation. Even though there were 7 of us, we were kindly assigned a seat. The service was consistently attentive and courteous. The atmosphere was cozy, bright and clean. The apple strudel was a poem. The only small downer for us was that unfortunately there was no cake. But next time we'll know that and come earlier at lunchtime. Conclusion: A great (excursion) restaurant where you can certainly celebrate well. If the food is as delicious as the apple strudel.....we'll definitely try that....We'll definitely be back.

A historic country inn that feels like it has fallen out of time. Stopped in after a hike. Sat on the shady terrace. Friendly service. After quenching our thirst, we still felt a thirst for coffee. We also ordered a mixed dessert platter. It was served artfully prepared, very rich, a real feast for the eyes, so we unfortunately forgot to take a photo of it. Delicious!

Wir hatten Wiener Schnitzel mit Bratkartoffeln sowie Hackbraten mit Pfifferlingen und Rösti. Die Schnitzel waren TK-Ware von Fegro, Metro o.ä., die Beilagen wie Rösti und Pommes sowieso. Salat, Grünzeug o.ä.? Fehlanzeige! Die erste Krönung war aber der völlig geschmacklose und steinharte Hackbraten (noch dazu nur eine kleine Scheibe) mit kaum vorhandenen Pfifferlingen und einer geschmackfreien Soße für nur 21,- €! Was für ein grauenvoller Frass! Service: Mittelmäßig bemüht, aber immerhin nicht völlig unfähig- vorwiegend allerdings besonders auf zeitigen Feierabend bedacht. 2. Krönung des Abends: Zum Abschluss krochen dann noch insgesamt 4 Küchenschaben unter dem Tisch hervor und krabbelten den direkt vor uns hängenden Vorhang hoch und blieben dort auch seelenruhig sitzen - widerlich! Wit möchten nicht wissen, wie es in der Küche aussieht, wenn die possierlichen Tierchen schon im Gastraum so anhänglich sind. Unser Fazit: Diese Restauration betreten wir unter diesem Betreiber nie wieder! Ecklig, richtig schlecht und dazu auch noch teuer !

I've known the country inn for a long time. Unfortunately, prices have now risen significantly. The quality got worse. The “Ceasar’s Salad” really shouldn’t be called that. It's just a plain salad with chicken. No trace of tuna dressing. Hopefully the quality will improve again.

- The starters did not come to the table together. - The service didn't ask if everything was OK or if we would like something to drink. Our glasses remained empty for a long time. - Bread was skimpy on the starters. - The vegetables were mushy frozen goods. (If I'm going to pay over 30 euros then please buy something fresh and properly cooked). The ambience is nice.

Man gibt sich offenbar grösste Mühe, um sicherzustellen, dass der Gast nicht wiederkommt. Essen sub-Standard ( hinsichtlich Qualität und Quantität), stark überteuert, nicht funktionierender Service, der auch noch schnippisch ist. Da ist man in den in der Nähe liegenden Alternativlokationen deutlich besser aufgehoben! Allerdings mit weniger Gedöhns und TamTam.

We're really not very picky, but we're seriously wondering how the good reviews here come about. We have to strongly advise against this restaurant. Even McDonald's or Burger King would have been a more sensible alternative, as uncomfortable as it makes me write it like that. The quality of the food is subpar and the service staff are extremely inattentive and forgetful. There is no value for money in any way.
