L.A. Sylt, Lister Austernperle

We remember the Lister Austernperle in its old, charming glory. They've conjured up something wonderful and new. The food is still top-notch. The menu has something for everyone. The service was outstanding. Very attentive, and we felt welcome all evening and had a wonderful break. Thank you so much, dear Jan. We will definitely be back. Best regards from Upper Bavaria

A wonderful spot right by the sea, wonderfully romantic in November, very friendly people, absolutely delicious food. Our Golden Retriever and we have been there several times and were truly delighted.

I had a Kaiserschmarren and it didn't pick me up. It was swimming in butter, with cinnamon and sugar, and had no cranberry cream.... It's much better on the island.

There's a wide selection on the menu, a seasonal/weekly special, and some classics, like the surf & turf – highly recommended! September 2025 We haven't been to Sylt or to L.A. for a while. This year's renovation was a success. Modern, with a stunning panorama of the Wadden Sea.

Positive: The view and location, as well as the very friendly staff. Neutral: The food was solid but nothing particularly outstanding. Still worth a visit.

We love coming here. Always on the last day of our stay on Sylt. And we really like it. The food is good and fresh. It's nice to sit outside and look out at the sea. The staff is super friendly and quick. The prices are totally fair. It could be a bit cozier inside, but the atmosphere suits the beach location. Highly recommended.

A very nice location right by the sea. The prices are very reasonable for the quality. The portions are very generous and absolutely delicious. The staff are incredibly friendly. Reservations are not necessary, but you might have to wait a bit.

We stopped in spontaneously today. Starters, main courses, and dessert – all delicious. Great location, pleasant ambiance, and absolutely fantastic service. We really enjoyed ourselves and would love to come back!

We spontaneously stopped here for lunch. The outdoor and indoor seating offers a fantastic view of the Wadden Sea. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The value for money is definitely good. The portions are very generous.

Recommended. A very young and friendly service team. The Austernperle is located on the beach near List with a beautiful view of the sea. Indoor and outdoor seating. The ambiance is rather modern and austere. A bit too noisy inside. The food is very good. Prices are typical for Sylt. During peak times, expect a wait or perhaps no table at all. Only accessible on foot.

Surprisingly disappointing. After an hour of waiting, the North Sea plaice fillets were too small, too dry, and smelled fishy. We're big Sylt fans, but there are much better restaurants on the island.

What a shame! After the renovation, the charm of the original simplicity has unfortunately been completely lost. Oyster strings, barrels, and simple wooden beams have given way to an overly sleek design. Then there are the "rules" for guests. Seating is okay, but if you're offered a seat inside due to overcrowding, you're not allowed to move outside if there's space available. The quality of the food has unfortunately fallen to a very low level, and the staff exudes a subtle arrogance instead of their former relaxed attitude. It's a good thing that there are other beach restaurants on the island with real charm.

I was there for the first time today and thought it was very nice. We arrived at 7:28 p.m. and were informed that the kitchen was about to close, but they still gave us enough time to choose and order. However, I have to be honest and say we just walked in without waiting, because then we might not have been able to get our food, as no one was checking on the guests at the door. The young waitress was super nice and quite skilled in her craft. The interior is very cold and a bit uncomfortable, but the view of the sea is great.

A beautifully located location that, after renovations, has a very modern feel. Excellent service, thoughtful, attentive, and friendly. The food still has potential, especially considering the price. The currywurst is a type of boiled sausage, cooked on a plancha; the rest of the plate was "carelessly" piled with fries. The dressing on the Caesar salad was very "rich" and not particularly special. Perhaps it was a matter of personal taste, but we were very disappointed with the value for money.

I'd like to draw your attention to a charming and relatively unknown beach restaurant I recently discovered. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive.

We were expecting better food . We ordered two different dishes , however the chef did not bother to be a little bit creative. The same sauce on the potato salads and green salad . Very disappointing. The view is very nice and service is good .

Sorry, not again! We were there today from 6 p.m. Several tables inside were occupied, but we preferred to sit outside. Two other tables outside were also occupied. A blonde waitress was talking to guests at the next table and didn't even acknowledge us. After 20 minutes, a waiter came for the first time and brought two menus. The drinks still hadn't been taken. After another 15 minutes, there was still no service. So over 30 minutes, with no service, nothing, and the argument that "it was so busy" is far from acceptable.

The new building is very well done, beautifully located in the same spot as before, currently with a sand dune in front, which will be removed in the fall because the sand is needed for a construction project. No reservations required, super friendly staff, and the legendary currywurst (but not only that). Everything that comes out of the kitchen looks delicious, and the prices are reasonable for Sylt. A MUST for anyone on Sylt!

The fish wasn't bad. And here again, there's that modern chill music that you unfortunately hear in so many places these days. If you arrive a few minutes early, you'll end up waiting outside in the rain.

Update June 2025: After the entire restaurant was rebuilt, it's become even more beautiful. Even though the old hut-like feel has been replaced by a fresh, bright style with plenty of windows, it's cozy and a bit airier. The food is, as always, excellent, although the prices have risen significantly. But that's absolutely justified given the ambiance and quality. We remain enthusiastic regulars. Incredibly good food and a friendly crew. The food is cooked exactly as ordered, authentic soup, incredibly exquisite meat, and a rice pudding to die for. Please don't try to make a reservation; that's not possible here, but that's not really a problem. Sit on the terrace and wait; it's definitely worth it. I've been a regular for three years and I'm always impressed.

Fantastically delicious food, very friendly staff and owner, and a simply stunning view. We are absolutely blown away by this beautiful restaurant and can hardly wait to return.

The ambiance is new, and you have a beautiful view of the sea, both inside and out. Unfortunately, the food isn't authentic. The portions are huge, and some of it is processed food. I had the Thai curry, which was thickened with processed food, and the rice was bland, cooked to a bland white. The pesto for the other dish was Barilla...a shame.

The new hut is truly a success! The modern and simple interior design is very appealing. However, it's a shame that they don't accept reservations, so you have to hope for a free table. The parking lot was full, and service was a bit slow. On the plus side, the great view of the mudflats and the delicious food are worth mentioning!

Ratings are based on the new building and specifically on the service experience - we've known the location and the team for a very long time - they used to call it regulars. Therefore, expectations and anticipation for this new, externally wonderful building are naturally high. And so, unfortunately, we were put off for the first time on May 20, 2025. Of course, a lot still needs to be adjusted and developed. The ambience has room for improvement. But what's not quite right is the fact that at 7:36 p.m. in the off-season - i.e., not particularly busy - you're turned away for a meal for two people. Kitchen hours end at 7:30 p.m.! Not nice and a reminder that a new start doesn't always have to be positive. It's a shame - we hope that the hospitality and the unique selling point of an authentically friendly and passionate team have not been lost during the new construction phase.

Lovely restaurant in a fantastic location. The food was delicious, the salad was fresh with a delicious French dressing, and the service was very friendly. They let me try the red wine since I didn't know which one to choose. I think the concept of not requiring reservations and seating guests is great. Anyone who doesn't want to wait in such a beautiful place, especially when the weather's nice, or who doesn't want to pass the time with a stroll on the beach, doesn't deserve the island anyway ;-) Always stay relaxed! Since we were there at 6 p.m. on a Monday, we were able to choose our table and had a truly lovely evening.

If you arrive at 7:45 p.m., there's no food left except dessert. Okay, it says so outside. But the fact that you can't even have a drink in the sunny seats in the glorious evening sun (mid-May) with the excuse "We don't serve this area..." while other guests are sitting and being served at a table next to you is completely incomprehensible. Apparently, guests aren't always welcome. If other reviews have used the term "arrogant" in the service, I can now understand why.

Absolute top location on the mudflats with views to Denmark and even to Niebüll

Unfortunately, this was our first and last visit after the reopening; despite waiting for over 10 minutes at the entrance (as requested by the sign) and despite the chef pointing out to the wait staff that we were standing in the entrance and waiting, we were ignored. When we finally entered and politely asked for a table, pointing out that we had just been waiting, we were greeted very rudely with the words "we're busy, so you'll just have to wait a long time." For us, the young lady was a no-go, as not even all the tables were occupied, or it was incredibly busy. The location and the new building are, of course, great.

We were particularly impressed by the great service.

After a long construction period, back at the same location. Magnificent views of the sea and the dunes also from the interior. Interior is a bit cool but not expansive. The food is good and the service is friendly and tries to accommodate every request. Especially with the food. Reservations make sense as the indoor area quickly fills up in bad weather. Menu has something for everyone and a great children's menu. Parking is rather difficult and about 5 minutes away by bike but easily accessible.

Nice little restaurant in a great location, the food is tasty and the service is good. What was a bit harsh was that another EUR 4 was charged for a second helping of the sauce for the matjes. That really doesn't fit.

The new LA has become very beautiful. The dishes are almost identical to the old menu, which particularly pleases regular guests, but with a roughly 10/15% increase in prices. In general there seems to be less space on the terrace and interior than before. As always, there is a huge rush and you have to be lucky to get a table. We had the currywurst and the chili meatball and they were large portions.

Seit über 20 Jahren ist bei unserem Sylt Urlaub die L.A.Austernperle ein Einkehrmuss. Leider durch Neubau bis 2026 geschlossen aber dann hoffentlich mit gleicher Qualität für Essen und Service hoch motiviert wieder am Start.

I visited on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 and was very impressed by the new building. The finishing touches are still missing here and there, but the food and staff were top. I'm already looking forward to summer in L.A. Sylt.

Nach 1 1/2 Stunden Wartezeit teilte uns dann die Kellnerin auf Nachfrage mit, das in der Küche etwas schief gelaufen ist. Klar - denn alle Tische um uns herum hatten ja schon Ihr Essen obwohl diese 35 Minuten nach und ins Restaurant kamen. Die Kellnerin sagte wir sollten noch 10 Minuten warten, aber es könnte auch noch länger dauern.

We were looking forward to it again. Just found out it was demolished. How sad...hopefully it will be rebuilt so beautifully! All the best and thank you very much for the wonderful time there.

Das Restaurant wurde im Januar abgerissen und kann zur Zeit nicht besucht werden. An der Stelle befindet sich eine Baustelle. Ein Neubau bzw. Neueröffnung evtl. geplant, hier findet man keine genauen Angaben vor Ort.

Very small and fine. We were here in winter. As always, very busy and in good demand. The food is great, the location is great. Too tight, one star deducted. Definitely great on the terrace in summer.

It was perfect there, the view anyway, but also the staff were so friendly and accommodating. My friend wanted to try an oyster and was calmly and friendly shown how to eat it. We will definitely take a few more breaks next season. Unfortunately I only have photos of the outside because we enjoyed the ambience inside 😉

Sehr freundliches, professionelles Personal, die Bestellungen werden zügig bearbeitet und die Speisen sind geschmacklich sehr gut. Wir haben fast jedes Gericht genossen. Die Weinkarte ist für ein so ein kleines Restaurant sehr gut. Alles in allem sind wir immer sehr zufrieden nach einem Besuch des L.A. List. Wir kommen seit fast 5 Jahren hierher und können immer noch unsere Empfehlung für diese urige, gemütliche Location mit 5 Sternen bewerten. Unser Dank geht an die Mitarbeiter, ohne die nichts möglich wäre.

Appena sbarcati sull’isola provenienti dalla Danimarca, ci dirigiamo direttamente verso questo locale la cui specialità sono senza dubbio le ostriche allevate in loco. Carnose e saporite, perfette con un bicchiere di fresco vino bianco, ci hanno sicuramente dato un ottimo benvenuto su questa splendida isola. Conto finale medio alto, cameriere gentile e premuroso, atmosfera rilassante con panorama sul Mare del Nord. Torneremo..

Ein schönes kleines Restaurant direkt am Lister Wattenmeer. Wunderschöne Atmosphäre, interessante Karte und das was auf den Tisch kommt ist hervorragend. Sehr freundliche, nette und zu Scherzen aufgelegte Bedienung. Leider schwierig in der Nähe das Auto zu parken

Das L.A. Sylt ist zweifellos einen Besuch wert. Es ist etwas für diejenigen, die eine urige Authentizität mit einem Hauch von Eleganz schätzen. Dieses Strandhaus trotzt den rauen Sylter Winden und verströmt einen gewissen Charme durch die fehlende Reservierungsoption. Hier wird sich definitiv noch um die Gäste gekümmert. Obwohl es auch andere Gerichte gibt, kommt man hier vor allem für die Austern. Beachtenswert ist die fast ausschließliche Auswahl an Alfred Gratien Champagner, was für Genießer eine wichtige Information sein könnte.
