Gaststättenschiff - „MS Manfred“

Ich war Ende Oktober während unseres Urlaubes mit meiner Familie hier essen. Circa 4 Tage vor Ihrer Winterpause. Das Schiff wurde sehr schön, mit Herz und Fokus auf Details umgebaut und eingerichtet. Leider war es ziemlich frisch, aber mit Blick auf die Jahreszeit und die Location, verständlich. Die Speisekarte bietet sehr viel Fisch und Fleisch, doch leider nur ein deftiges Hauptgericht für vegetarische, nicht Fisch essende Personen, wie mich. Die Ofenkartoffel mit Kräuterquark. Meine Familie, welche sich zu dritt für die Fischplatte für 2 entschied, war sehr zufrieden. Gerne würden wir im Sommer nochmal kommen, um einen warmen, sommerlichen Einblick in den Betrieb des Räucher- und Gaststättenschiffes zu bekommen.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal hier. Sehr schönes Restaurant im Schiff, sehr nettes Personal und das Essen sehr reichlich und lecker🙏 kann man nur empfehlen 🙏

Beschreibe Deutschland in drei Worten: KEINE KARTENZAHLUNG MÖGLICH! Da bist du in einem Touristen-Hotspot unterwegs. Und wenn du Tourist auf Rügen bist fährst du nach Saßnitz. Und wenn du in Saßnitz bist, läufst du natürlich zum Leuchtturm auf der Mole. Und da kommst du am Gaststättenschiff Manfred vorbei, wo eine sehr sehr leckere Fischsuppe serviert wird. Oder sollte ich besser sagen: "wurde"? Denn probiert habe ich sie dieses mal nicht. Dick und fett prangen rechts und links große Mitteilungen, die im Jahr 2025 den technisch auf der Höhe der Zeit lebenden Gast von vornherein auslädt: KEINE KARTENZAHLUNG MÖGLICH! CASH ONLY! Von mir gibt es dafür vier Punkte Abzug, weil nur Bargeld in heutiger Zeit und in einem Tourismus-Region absolut untragbar ist. Vor allem, weil der nächste Geldautomat von irgendeiner dubiosen unbekannten Bank ziemlich weit weg steht. Wenn ich dann erst noch Geld holen muss, bin ich die Mole wieder vorgelaufen und kann dann auch in eines der Restaurants an der Promenade essen gehen. Und falls der Betreiber jetzt möglicherweise auf den Kosten rumreitet: lest mal die diversen Studien, was Bargeldmanagement an Kosten verursacht und sucht euch einfach einen günstigen Anbieter. Es gibt davon genug Kartenzahlungsanbieter auf dem Markt!

Simply wonderfully delicious fish. I've been coming here for about six years, and only here. The price is completely justified for such fresh, homemade food. I would have paid more if I had to. Keep up the good work, dear team at the "Manfred." 😋🐟👍

Unfortunately, I wasn't entirely satisfied for the first time. It's perfectly normal that a fish fillet might have a bone, but unfortunately, I could only eat half of it because the other half had too many bones. No, I like eating fish, but I've had bad experiences with bones, so I always order a fillet that actually contains the fillet. Dear MS Manfred team, you used to be better.

Especially in the evenings, there's a lovely atmosphere on the upper deck with a view of the harbor, and the food is delicious. Unfortunately, we had a mistake on the receipt, but it was rectified immediately, so 5/5 stars and service are still excellent :)

I had fried pollock fillet and my wife had Baltic Sea herring. It was delicious, and the portions were generous. The service was very friendly and, without being asked, gave our dogs a bowl of water and a few treats. We can wholeheartedly recommend MS Manfred.

A very beautiful old cutter where you can eat very well. We often go to the Baltic Sea and always eat here. Just to add, it's not a fancy restaurant—it has more of a rustic feel, but we really like it here.

A fantastic location on an old ship, lovingly decorated, and with excellent service! We stopped by spontaneously for dinner, looking for local fish dishes. We were seated immediately on deck and served very politely and quickly. We had the fish platter for two people. It was really quite large and more than enough for two people. The taste was fine for me. However, it could have been a bit more seasoned and the three different types of fish would have been more varied. We were definitely impressed by the overall offering and highly recommend a visit.

The MS Manfred has been a tradition for us for years when we visit Sassnitz. After a pleasant stroll along the pier, with a view of the Baltic Sea and Sassnitz harbor, you reach the smokehouse and restaurant. The food is plentiful, delicious, and comes with wonderful salad garnishes. The ambiance is fantastic, with panoramic views and a rustic ship feel; you can sit above deck in the fresh air or below deck, protected from the weather. The service is discreet, wonderfully friendly, and fast. Anyone who has such staff these days, especially on the Baltic Sea, should consider themselves lucky. We look forward to the next time!

I'm very sorry, but I can't say anything different than so many other reviewers have. The food is simply outstanding, and the service isn't one bit worse. Looking up from your meal and looking out over the harbor is simply priceless. I simply have to recommend this place.

Thanks to good reviews, we ended up on the MS Manfred for lunch. Below deck, we ordered fried zander fillet and pollock fillet with fried potatoes. Our order arrived about 20 minutes later. We were thrilled with the generous portions of fish. Everything tasted delicious. The fried potatoes were fresh and very warm. The side salad was also very freshly prepared. We highly recommend this kitchen and the staff. The restrooms below deck were also very clean. Only the table lighting could have been a bit brighter. :) Many thanks to the MS Manfred crew.

We ordered the schnitzel with fries and the schnitzel with fried potatoes (see picture). The food is freshly prepared and tastes very authentic. It was relatively quiet at lunchtime, so we didn't have to wait long and were served very quickly. The ship and the detailed decor (hand-painted tableware) are inviting. The portion sizes are very generous. For two people with a main course and drinks, you'll pay less than €40 at lunchtime. We highly recommend the restaurant for lunch/afternoon.

The service is also more attentive than you'll ever find anywhere else. We had a wonderful time sitting on deck in the sun. So, a must-do when in Sassnitz.

Absolutely recommended – we’ll be back! From the outside, the Kutter Manfred may seem a bit inconspicuous in the cold season - but as soon as you come in, you are immediately impressed: cozy, warm and with a very special ambience. The food was simply great – fresh, delicious and lovingly served on hand-thrown ceramic plates. The portions were also plentiful. The waitress was really warm and made you feel completely comfortable. One thing is certain for us: we will definitely be back the next time we visit the area! If you could give more than five stars, they deserve it.

Top, top food including the best fried potatoes on the island

A highlight for years. We come back several times every year during the annual Rügen holidays. I personally rave about the fried herring fillets with fried potatoes. The fish is crispy and the side dish is hearty. Just like with nuts. The price is reasonable. You can sit on the upper deck outdoors or under a roof and in the former hold; furry friends are also welcome. The waiters are always attentive and the dog gets water and treats without being asked. The atmosphere is hearty and very rustic. The very beautiful stoneware dining service is noteworthy.

So if you want to dine very well in Sassnitz, you should go on and below deck here.

Always an experience to eat on the ship in the port of Sassnitz. Thanks to the great weather, we were able to sit on the deck, from where you have a fantastic view over the harbor on one side and the Baltic Sea on the other. The food was very, very tasty and unbeatable in terms of price-performance ratio.

Food good, but not exceptional. My herring was good, but my wife's redfish was boring. A very atmospheric environment with great attention to detail. Very bad service. A rude and grumpy waiter who repeatedly dared to answer in an arrogant tone. A waitress brought us the food before the cutlery and the wrong beers. We were ignored for almost the entire meal, so much so that my wife had to get up to ask for salt. Not to be repeated

The MS Manfred was our highlight on every Rügen holiday. The service, the food (especially the fried potatoes) everything was top but what we experienced today left us shocked. Ordered a place by phone for 7:30 p.m. (9 p.m. closing time) At 8:15 p.m. we were cleared and stood outside again, speechless. The young waiter was completely clueless. The food came quickly, starter soup, main course and when we cleared it (drinks were still full) we immediately asked if we wanted to pay. When we paid the bill, he blew out the candle on the table. 5 minutes later he came back to the table and waited until my husband had finished his glass (8:15 p.m.). It was like being kicked out because we were the only two young men. Service points 0 (THE kitchen crew left faster than we could understand what had just happened) The food was ok but couldn't be compared with our previous visits. It's a real shame that we no longer have our must have on our Rügen holiday.

The slightly different restaurant. You can dine on deck or inside. There is a large selection on the menu, everyone should find something there. Staff is very friendly. I don't agree with any of the previous speakers and notice that the breading takes away a lot of the cod fillet's actual taste and makes it taste almost like pollock. Nevertheless, it is worth a visit.

Rügen & Sassnitz without eating at least once on the cutter Manfred is not possible. The fish is perfect and fresh and the fried potatoes are world class! The entire service is warm. The prices are right. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Cozy, rustic ship restaurant with delicious food and nice staff

We were on the cutter ship for dinner in July. Wor sat on the deck and had to ask the waiter twice for blankets as the air was fresh. At some point we had the blankets. Even though there were few guests, it took a while for the waiter to come shuffling over. The menu consisted almost exclusively of herring dishes at ridiculously high prices, considering that herring is a rather inexpensive fish. There was so little sauce for the cream herring that we had to order more. Paid another EUR 2.50 for a small bowl. We were surprised that you had to pay in cash. We were disappointed, the price-performance service was out of proportion. No longer an option for us, we would rather have an honest fish sandwich.

We came here on a recommendation and wanted to have a delicious meal. The food was greasy and the fish was hard. The fried potatoes and fish were probably fried in the same old oil. The result was that I spent the rest of the day on the toilet with severe diarrhea. I would also like to mention that the location is not suitable for guests with walking difficulties. The service doesn't really care. As we left the ship, I heard one waitress calling to another...are they finally gone? I can only recommend going to another location.

We ate at “Manfred” on the first evening in Sassnitz as usual. Are disappointed, the service has decreased and the food was better, only the prices have increased. It's a shame actually.

We were guests on the MS Manfred today and our food was very tasty and filling, the cuisine is very good! The service was Nordic friendly and very quick. We felt very comfortable as guests. We would like to give a very positive review because we really liked it. Price performance is exemplary here. Great and thanks to the MS Manfred team.

We stopped in quite spontaneously, even without a reservation we were “shoved in between”. We ate our dinner below deck and the atmosphere immediately caught us. Nautical-rustic, the service was always friendly, the food came quickly and was very tasty! We can only recommend the fried herring on fried potatoes, great!

I've been coming here at least once a year for over 10 years. It's a must, so to speak, to eat here. The portions are, in my opinion, large. Often there is less on the plate elsewhere. Lastly I had fried redfish. Was very tasty. The salad side dish is also completely to my taste. Price-wise, it's also completely okay. I miss the monkfish on the menu though. I've always really enjoyed eating it. Despite all this, I would like to come back next year.

Never again!!! We wanted to go out for a delicious meal again, like we did 7 years before. When a drunk gentleman arrived, he said loudly, "People with children are anti-social!" and when Manfred disappeared we were very shocked when we realized that the gentleman was part of the service staff. Two other guests then left. It was more important to work on signs with cable ties and smoke. Since we continued to be ignored after a long wait, we left without eating.

We've eaten at Manfred's several times. Very satisfied every time.

The ship itself looked very inviting from a distance. This is not really confirmed on board. Jumbled wooden and beer benches and clinked plates. The menu is very large and also offers a lot of non-regional fish. The side dish for the fried cod fillet consists of 5 croquettes in a separate bowl. The second person with this dish received exactly two boiled potatoes. The fried potatoes with the burger were largely oversalted and the garnish consisted of ready-made salads and dried tomatoes and cucumbers. The sea buckthorn wheat is homemade and unfortunately tastes anything but good. The waiter is unfriendly and seems incredibly stupid, and it also smells very much like a deep fryer. We were forgotten several times and had to draw attention to ourselves. Card payments are also not possible, which is very inconvenient in this somewhat remote location.

Incredibly delicious, great ambience Super Service! After several recommendations, today the path led us to the ship. We were served quickly, friendly and very pleasantly. The ship itself is impressively great. To create a gastronomic experience out of it - great. The view of the harbor while eating is priceless. We had a very delicious meal. I had excellent fish and my husband had schnitzel with plenty of fried potatoes. The food was really great. Price performance top. It was really plentiful. Thank you very much - we felt very comfortable as guests.

First of all, the food tasted great! Matjes perfect. There were a whopping 15 bones in the redfish fillet, which I think was quite impressive. I told the waiter that too, it wasn't a complaint, he looked as if the ship was about to sink. I'll be back soon, we didn't see him again. Otherwise the ship is great.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The restaurant ship MS Manfred in the Sassnitz city harbor is an absolute highlight and definitely worth a visit! The view from the ship is simply fantastic. You can enjoy a breathtaking view of the harbor, the Baltic Sea and the charming town of Sassnitz. Especially in the evenings, when the city lights reflect and the ships gently sway in the harbor, the atmosphere is simply magical. Today it was more like autumn... The service on board is exceptionally attentive and friendly. As soon as you enter the ship you feel warmly welcomed. The staff always tries to fulfill every wish and ensures that you feel completely comfortable. The food on the MS Manfred is also a pleasure. We had the backfish burger with delicious fries and the zander with crispy fried potatoes - both were excellently prepared and extremely tasty. Particularly noteworthy is the in-house strawberry punch, which impresses with its fruity, refreshing taste and goes perfectly with a maritime evening. The overall package on the MS Manfred is convincing across the board. The combination of fantastic views, attentive service and delicious food makes this restaurant ship an unforgettable experience. If you are in Sassnitz, you should not miss a visit to the MS Manfred. A clear recommendation for everyone who appreciates good food and a unique atmosphere!

At the very end of the pier in Sassnitz and SOOOOO good!!!! Price/performance - unbeatable!!! So dear girls in the service - the food is really good! Beautiful location, romantic. Was there for lunch - a wine before leaving on the ship - very stylish and tasty - the food after the boat. A good two of them would have been full! The bacon onions are irritating - because it's different in Saxony - a bit too much fat - but delicious!!!! Melting onions, a bit of bacon with meatballs - over the perfectly fried -2!!- flounders - great fried potatoes - extra peel. Salad bouquet - tasted great. Very nice table ceramics. Special thanks to the girls at the table - THIS is how I introduce service! Friendly, chatty, attentive. Many thanks to the team - because the chef - who I got to know before the wine - o lala. He's got it! From me - 12 out of 10 points and a big heart...

As always, the first evening of Manfred's vacation is mandatory, and once again it was great. Nice service and rustic atmosphere. We'll come again!
