I was craving tapas so I had to go to La Catalana. A small, fine restaurant with manageable seating. Even though it was completely full, you could still have a conversation at a comfortable volume. The service was quick, attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the tapas.

La Catalana in Altona is a very good choice for anyone who wants to eat authentic paella and tapas 👍🏽 The service is super nice & the food is very tasty! Gladly again 💗

The Catalana restaurant in Hamburg is a real piece of Barcelona! Here you can enjoy delicious tapas and authentic Spanish specialties. The pulpo paella 🦑🥘 in particular is a highlight – absolutely recommended! The ambience is inviting, the staff incredibly warm, and the entire atmosphere makes you travel to Spain for a moment. Definitely a must-visit restaurant! The only criticism: There were two of us and the table was a bit too small for all the food 🙈 But we'll definitely be back 🤩

An authentic piece of Spain in Hamburg My husband and I visited La Catalana in November and were surprised by this little gem in Hamburg. Hidden on Holstenstrasse, right next to the musical Herkules, this family-run restaurant offers a piece of authentic Spain in the middle of the Hanseatic city. The ambience is charming in its simplicity - not fancy, but cozy and inviting. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the family tapas bars found in Catalonia. The heart of La Catalana is undoubtedly the food. The homemade tapas and paellas are a delight for the palate. Every dish impresses with authentic flavors and high-quality ingredients. The delicious fish soup, a true classic of Spanish cuisine, is particularly recommended. The service was excellent - attentive and friendly. The waitress took the time to explain the various dishes to us and gave excellent wine recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal. The price at La Catalana is moderate, with dishes up to 30 euros. Given the quality and authenticity of the food, we feel this is absolutely justified. Conclusion: La Catalana is a hidden gem for lovers of Spanish cuisine. With its authentic atmosphere, excellent food and friendly service, it offers an unforgettable dining experience. For anyone looking for a piece of Spain in Hamburg, this restaurant is an absolute must.

Schon fast unheimlich freundlich. Super Service und das Essen noch viel besser. Alles sehr sauber - auch das WC! Die Sangria ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wir hatten für 4 Personen gemischte Tappasplatten nach Wahl des Hauses. Das war eine sehr gute, abwechslungsreiche Auswahl. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Amazing food and service! Officially the best Paella in Hamburg and the Sangria was delicious.

The food is good, but this is dampened by the atmosphere and the rather high prices. We had a table right next to the toilet door which lets in all the noise (despite a reservation) and the room wasn't particularly inviting. The service was ok, but you had to wait a long time until someone came by again. It was also negative and unpleasant when a card payment was denied when paying. No information on the homepage, no information when making the reservation and only a single tiny sticker next to the entrance door indicating this. All in all, for me the price/performance ratio is not right here.

The food was okay (tapas) but not outstanding. The espresso afterwards was pretty bad. Overall, the price/performance ratio is reasonable.

The food was spectacular, the patatas bravas had an excellent flavor along with the paella. This place is like feeling at home again.

Not recommended. The promising fish paella for 2 people. was way too overpriced, very simple, and carelessly prepared, you could count the number of seafood on one hand and it didn't really taste that good. The ambience with fluorescent lights was not particularly comfortable, more like a classroom. The majority of the chairs were very ragged (something like that is more like bulky waste) The waitress was very friendly, but I find it rather inappropriate to simply address every guest as “you” (we were there with a group of seniors!). All in all our visit to "La Catalana" was very disappointing :( We were here for the first and last time!

As soon as you enter the restaurant you can feel the authentic Spanish atmosphere, which radiates cosiness and warmth. The selection of tapas is diverse and creative, from classic patatas bravas to unique specialties that are rarely found elsewhere. I would particularly like to highlight the Gambas al Ajillo and the Jamón Ibérico – simply heavenly! Every dish is fresh, lovingly prepared and perfectly seasoned. The service was outstanding: friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The staff is very knowledgeable about the food and wine and gave us great recommendations. The wine list is also impressive, offering a fine selection of Spanish wines that pair perfectly with the tapas. The price-performance ratio is also perfect. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience - I will definitely be back and would highly recommend La Catalana to anyone who loves Spanish cuisine!

Small restaurant with the opportunity to sit outside in the backyard. Large and classic selection of dishes. The red house wine (Tempranillo) was very tasty. Bread was brought straight away (which unfortunately wasn't that good because it was dry) and a delicious ayoli. We had various tapas which were all good. Service was nice, toilet clean, value for money also ok.

Paella, with 6 pieces + 6 bites, of chicken (even stinky in summer days, not fresh), it costs 22,5€, 🚫pay attention, ‼️pro person! No joke, this plate, 45€. What a value🙃 I feel sad, it took you 35 min to prepare this dish, I didn't complain about your speed, rather, the food itself and its cost performance.

The food is very good and tasty. The staff is also very friendly. However, some tapas are very expensive for a smaller portion. It's still worth a visit - especially if you go to the musical in the Neue Flora in the evening. We didn't make a reservation but still got a table in a very relaxed manner.

The portions of the snacks were small. The grilled octopus feet I ordered for the main course were slightly burnt and the portion was very small. Such an octopus foot and a little potato cost 26 euros, which was too low value for money. My friend ordered rabbit stew and threw it away without finishing it. Not recommended.

With all my love, that was nothing. The service is friendly, but the quality of the tapas - after a surprisingly long wait - was at best sufficient, even with a lot of goodwill, unfortunately also in terms of craftsmanship. Maybe we had a bad day, but we'll probably never find out because we probably won't be back. Addendum: I checked the invoice on the way home, unfortunately it wasn't correct either because more was charged than was ordered and delivered. A pity.

Hier geht man hungrig rein und hungrig wieder raus. Extrem kleine Portionen. Waren zweimal hier essen, Tapas und Paella bestellt, sowas noch nie erlebt. Nie wieder! Nicht empfehlenswert!

We had tapas here a few weeks ago. The food was delicious, but unfortunately the portions were very small and even though we ordered a lot, we weren't full. We paid around 80 euros per person.

Here we save on everything we can. Paella hardly contains any fish. Portions endlessly measly. It's really not worth spending your time here. There's hardly any performance for the money here. Not recommended!

Well, I expected a little more for the prices. A completely normal tapas restaurant just a little overpriced. Despite live music advertised on the homepage, only music from the system. Why is paella only available for at least 2 people? The ambience was nice, but that alone isn't enough to make me repeat the visit.

Sehr leckere Tapas und ausgezeichnete Paella. Super nettes Paar, daß das Restaurant betreibt. Wir sind gerne dort!

Super leckere Tapas. Wir haben 7 Tapas + Brot mit Aioli + Nachtisch bestellt. Diese Menge braucht man auch mindestens, um satt zu werden. Dass Tapas nicht gerade günstig sind, ist ja nichts neues, aber die Menge an Brot und Aioli fand ich leider etwas wenig. Dafür haben die Tapas geschmacklich sehr überzeugt. Auch die Crema Catalana ist sehr zu empfehlen. Die Terrasse im Hinterhof ist frisch sanierte und sehr schön. Auf den Bildern sieht das Restaurant sehr klein aus, aber es hat mehr Tische als man denkt. Wir waren an einem Freitag Abend hier und es war erstaunlich leer. Es sollte kein Problem sein auch ohne Reservierung einen Tisch zu bekommen.

Kann die ausgesprochen positiven Kommentare nur schwer nachvollziehen. Wir hatten nur Tapas. Die wurden von der Kellnerin angepriesen. Es gäbe eine spezielle Tapasplatte des Hauses. Die hatten wir. Da wir oft in Spanien sind, kennen wir uns gut damit aus. Die Platte war sehr durchschnitllich, dafür der Preis gehoben. Ich kann diese Tapasplatte nicht empfehlen. Bezahlt werden kann uebrigens nur in bar.

Das Essen war okay aber für die Portion etwas zu teuer. Brot muss man leider auch extra zahlen.

Schon gegen Ende unseres Abendessen hab ich mich gefreut, diesem wundervollen, kleinen Restaurant eine nette Bewertung zu geben, denn hier hat alles gestimmt. Die Tapas waren einfach köstlich, alles sehr gut abgeschmeckt, gute und frische Zutaten, frische Öle und Fette, alle Soßen hausgemacht, netter und unaufgeregter Service. Ein besonderes Highlight für uns waren vor allem die gebratenen Champignons mit Knoblauch und die Babycalamares. Geht da hin, supportet das! :)

Freundlicher Service und das Essen war OK. Zu empfehlen sind die Spinatkroketten. Uns hat der Rest leider nicht überzeugt. Am Nachbartisch wurden zwei Mädels kostenfreie Tapas im Gegenzug zu einer guten Bewertung angeboten.

Essen war vernünftig bis gut, gehört aber nicht zu den favorisierten tapas Bars in Hamburg. Das Restaurant inkl. Schönen Innenhof bietet ein schönes Ambiente.
