La Catalana in Hamburg

A nice little restaurant; the menu is very short, but our dishes were delicious. The antipasti selection is large and somewhat confusing, the prices relatively high but reasonable; in the end, the three-course meal was worth it.

We were there on December 20th and were unfortunately quite disappointed. We wanted to eat tapas and had reserved a table at the small restaurant. When we ordered, we were told that three of the six tapas we had requested were no longer available because they were going on winter vacation on December 21st and had practically sold out. So we had to spontaneously choose almost our entire order again. Sparkling water was also unavailable, which is unacceptable. The portions were simply too small for the price and presented without any care; in fact, it was just too expensive. It was a shame because the restaurant is supposed to be good normally. But that evening, it was far from impressive.

A definite recommendation in summer, especially with the beer garden open! Delicious, traditional Spanish food – you can't go wrong. Great wines, very friendly service, and fair prices. Absolutely recommended, especially in summer with the beer garden open.

I was there on a Thursday evening in September. There were hardly any customers, so I received friendly service right away. The food came quickly and was truly delicious. A whole page on the menu lists the vegetarian dishes. At €7-10 per tapas, four tapas plus a drink cost €50, which is on the high side. Definitely a recommendation.

This place is so lovely! You can feel the Latin warmth as soon as you get in and the food OMGGG the best sangria I’ve had! I tried almost everything from the menu, the best was the paella, the chicken was so soooft, and the croquettes hMMMMM really the best in Hamburg 🤩

Hello my lovelies, I've been here twice and will be back soon. My husband and I paid around €100, and I'll tell you why: 1 large bottle of water, 2 cocktails, two fish soups, tortilla, pallela, meat with fried potatoes, plus dessert. €100 is good for 2 people, and besides, we ate well and took some takeaway. Wow. What can I say? I've never had the pleasure of enjoying such authentic Spanish cuisine in Germany. The tapas were a dream. Each one was more delicious than the next. Luckily, we're in Hamburg for two evenings so we can try the paella tomorrow. PS: Extra points for the original Hierbas!

A nice, small restaurant with very hard kitchen chairs. The chicken I ordered was very tasty, but the portion was very, very small. My companion felt the same. Without the bread and aioli, which we had thankfully ordered beforehand, we would have left the table hungry. Everything tasted excellent, and the service was super friendly.

Unfortunately, all the dishes arrived at once; we would have preferred them to come one after the other. Payment was only possible via PayPal or cash, which wasn't great. No card payments are accepted. The food tasted good. There are no parking spaces nearby, so it's best to take the bus or train. We'll definitely be back.

I came alone and ordered mixed tapas and was told they would only be served with a minimum of two people! Instead, I was offered paella, which the menu normally states is only served with a minimum of two people. What I got was an over-salted rice dish that had nothing to do with paella!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it today. The ambiance was OK, but nothing more. The service was very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, some of the food was cold. The other dishes could have been cooked a bit hotter, too. Payment is still only possible in cash or via PayPal. That's a shame. Considering the not-so-small costs, it was a somewhat disappointing evening. We wouldn't go there again at this time.

I was craving tapas so I had to go to La Catalana. A small, fine restaurant with manageable seating. Even though it was completely full, you could still have a conversation at a comfortable volume. The service was quick, attentive and friendly and we enjoyed the tapas.

The Catalana restaurant in Hamburg is a real piece of Barcelona! Here you can enjoy delicious tapas and authentic Spanish specialties. The pulpo paella 🦑🥘 in particular is a highlight – absolutely recommended! The ambience is inviting, the staff incredibly warm, and the entire atmosphere makes you travel to Spain for a moment. Definitely a must-visit restaurant! The only criticism: There were two of us and the table was a bit too small for all the food 🙈 But we'll definitely be back 🤩

Hidden on Holstenstrasse, right next to the musical Herkules, this family-run restaurant offers a piece of authentic Spain in the middle of the Hanseatic city. If you are looking for a special place for a celebration, I can only warmly recommend "La Catalana"! A wonderful place to fully enjoy Spanish cuisine!

Schon fast unheimlich freundlich. Super Service und das Essen noch viel besser. Alles sehr sauber - auch das WC! Die Sangria ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wir hatten für 4 Personen gemischte Tappasplatten nach Wahl des Hauses. Das war eine sehr gute, abwechslungsreiche Auswahl. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Amazing food and service! Officially the best Paella in Hamburg and the Sangria was delicious.

The food is good, but this is dampened by the atmosphere and the rather high prices. We had a table right next to the toilet door which lets in all the noise (despite a reservation) and the room wasn't particularly inviting. The service was ok, but you had to wait a long time until someone came by again. It was also negative and unpleasant when a card payment was denied when paying. No information on the homepage, no information when making the reservation and only a single tiny sticker next to the entrance door indicating this. All in all, for me the price/performance ratio is not right here.

The food was okay (tapas) but not outstanding. The espresso afterwards was pretty bad. Overall, the price/performance ratio is reasonable.

The food was spectacular, the patatas bravas had an excellent flavor along with the paella. This place is like feeling at home again.
