La Brasserie in Krefeld

Had dinner here several times over the last 3 years and the food and service was much better. This trip my first night I had the salad with salmon for an extra 9€! I think the forgot 1/2 the salmon but for a total of €18.50 it wasn’t too bad over all. The ice cream I had for dessert had good flavor but was a train wreck. More of a sorbet than an ice cream but not a sorbet either,, something in the middle, not creamy at all and lots of ice crystals. Unfortunately the only way I could pay was when I decided to just get up and go directly to the little work station inside, in the past they have been good about asking if we were done or wanted to pay. Second night went for the Leberkäse Spiegelei | geschmorte Senfzwiebeln | Bratkartoffeln Baverian meat loaf | fried egg | braised mustard onions | fried potatoes but they were sold out at 8pm, an hour after dinner starts and there were only 4 people there. This was the only reason I did not go to one of the places down the street. I ended up ordering the Garnelen- Risotto Safransud | Orangen | gegrillte Tomaten Prawn risotto | saffron broth | oranges | grilled tomatoes instead. I was suspicious when it came out in 12 minutes and rightly so. The prawns were over cooked and rubbery, the rice was under cooked and not creamy at all, practically just normally cooked rice which I suspected when it was served perfectly formed in a cylinder. There were no oranges, I think they forgot the saffron. The flavor was good but the execution was a 1, presentation saved it from a 0. Will only eat here again as a last resort. Apparently you can’t post a second review, just update. I downgraded the food and service portion. Due to circumstances I could either not eat or eat here. I should have not eaten or ordered some delivery. The menu is limited and tonight the only thing I was looking forward to was a good schnitzel which was on the menu, or rather schnitzel was on the menu. It was mediocre at best, you can’t post a make better at home even if you never made it before. Zero seasoning and over cooked in oil that was not up to temp to start with. The cucumber salad was not what I was expecting. I was hoping it would be the yummy German cucumber salad I have grown to love but alas, it was a bowl of cucumbers drenched in oil with some flakes of onion and some pea shoots or sprouts of some kind on it. I thought maybe I could order dessert, the lemon tart sounded good but after 25 minutes of waiting I decided to leave, 90 minutes total! I guess they didn’t have desserts tonight. Could have crossed it off, made a sign, or told people. Hopefully tomorrow I can go somewhere else. I’d hate to see how they ruin the crispy chicken burger here. The food used to be so good too.

Gute regionale Küche. Sehr gute Qualität der Gerichte. Schön angerichtet. Sehr freundlicher Service! Würde wieder kommen.

We had a delicious meal. The menu was reasonably priced. The lady who served us was very friendly.

Unfortunately, the food was bad, there was little of it, it was cold and it was very expensive.

My mom and me are neighbours of the hotel and planned to do a family meeting in their restaurant. So we went there for dinner to test it and I didn't expect much of a hotel restaurant I admit. First nice surprise: the menu is small which already could mean fresh products and therefore better quality. My mom had a classic: Wiener Schnitzel which she couldn't finish because the portion was just too big. I ordered a "Rösti Burger" and not only that the portion was enough to feed a big guy like me but it was really tasty! The mix of potaoes and burger worked to my surprise. The only little critic I would add for that dish that it could use a lttle decoration like a tiny salad at the site for example. The service was very nice, knowing and helpful and they do work there a long time already which was another surprise as it's quite unusual to have long term waiting staff in almost all hospitality locations around the world. The other guests were greeted by their names, we were there only the first time despite living next door we are sorry to say. Conclusion: the family table is reserved already and we are looking forward to have another nice evening at "La Brasserie".

My wife and I had during our stay in this hotel some drinks here (after having dinners somewhere else), due to the fact that the hotel bar was closed, due to illness of the barkeeper...A minus for the hotel manager, who could probably not find a replacement (!?)... The drinks were good (wine and coffee and grand marnier), the service was kind; the restaurant was however with just a few guests,we didn't have dinner there, so I can not tell anything about the quality of food; the only thing we can say about it is that the kitchen took verly long time to serve their guests.

Upscale restaurant with a long tradition and a cozy atmosphere. Very nice staff. Very good daily specials. However, steaks taste best without sauces.

Anfangs nicht allzu aufmerksame Bedienung, aber dann wurde es besser und das Essen war wirklich gut. Schade, dass die frühere Bestuhlung nicht beibehalten wurde.

Wir wurden freundlich empfangen und uns wurde ein Tisch zugewiesen. Zugleich wurden unsere Getränkewünsche aufgenommen. Die Speisekarte enthält ausreichend Auswahl. Die Angebote an Vorspeisen könnte umfangreicher sein. Es gibt auch regionale Küche, ansonsten eher international. Der Geschmack war sehr gut. Frisch und auf den Punkt. Die Weinauswahl ist auch sehr gut. Man merkt, hier macht man sich Gedanken, was man dem Gast anbietet. Wir haben den Abend genossen.

Die knusprige Gans war gut, aber leider nicht knusprig. Die Soße war hervorragend. Vorspeise und Wiener Schnitzel waren auch gut. Sehr leckere Pommes. Service von ok bis sehr gut. Ungewöhnlich ist, wenn ein Kellner (blond, männlich, jung) den Salat RECHTS auf den leeren Nebenplatz stellt und sagt: Hier der Salat. Sowas passt in eine Dönerbude, nicht in dieses Restaurant! Die anderen Servicemitarbeiter haben ihre Sache gut gemacht.

Zeer goede en vlotte bediening. Uitgebreide kaart. Mogelijkheid om buiten te eten. Binnen airco. Goed bereide gerechten.

Das klassisch im Brasserie Style eingerichtete Restaurant verfügt über eine grössere Aussenterrasse, angenehm zurückgesetzt von der Strasse. Wir fanden einen Tisch und wurden freundlich begrüsst. Irritierend: Wenn ein Restaurant schon Brasserie heisst, dass erwartet man schon etwas mehr Bezug zur frz Küche als: Wiener Schnitzel, Steak, Spargelkarte oder Matjes mit Hausfrauensosse. Während das Steak gut zubereitet und gewürzt war, waren die Pommes Frites - nett serviert im Körbchen - blass und matschig und zu stark gesalzen. Das Wiener Schnitzel war leicht überwürzt und gab bei leichtem Druck sehr viel Öl ab, die Panade war felsenfest mit dem Fleisch verbacken, das an den Rändern zu dunkel war. Auch hier das gleiche Pommes Problem. Sehr unangenehm: Der Beilagen - Salat war extrem gesüsst. Ich würde nicht sagen, dass es das schlechteste Schnitzel war, das ich je probierte - aber das war sehr nah dran. Handwerkliche Fähigkeit war hier nicht zu erkennen. Da der Service angenehm war: 2 Punkte. Ohne diesen wäre das nur 1 gewesen. Schade, das kann man hier auch anders wie ich in der Vergangenheit erlebt habe. Die Preise sind dafür viel zu hoch. Da konnte auch der Chef de rang dann nichts mehr retten mit dem Espresso Angebot.

Leider ist das Hotel etwas „heruntergekommen“ und bedarf einer gründlichen Restaurierung, ABER die Küche im Restaurant „Brasserie“ ist über Jahre hinweg solide, genauso wie der Service. Im Sommer ist die Terrasse ein schöner, ruhiger Ort für ein Geschäftsessen. Die Weinauswahl ist ebenfalls solide. Ich würde wieder kommen...

Wir waren zu einer Tagung im Hotel Mercure, man merkt sofort, daß das Haus und das Personal auf viele Menschen verschiedener Nationalitäten eingerichtet ist und alles professionell managt, auch das Restaurant. Küche französisch, international, gute Getränkeauswahl, vernünftige Bedienung. Essen zwar nicht außergewöhnlich aber dennoch lecker und zu empfehlen. Wir waren mit einigen Leuten dort, alles gut.

speck auf dem pfannkuchen schwarz verbrannt, butter zum spargel kommt 5 minuten nach dem gericht und ist kalt, bärlauchsuppe versalzen mit starkem brühwürfelgeschmack - dieses restaurant befindet sich in einem erbärmlichen zustand!

We hadden een arangement, dus inclusief overnachtingen in hotel Mercure. Wortelcremesoep vooraf, salatteller, schnitsel in buikspek gewikkeld en rote grüze na. Alles ging ontzettend snel! Wat broodjes met boter en creme, daarna de soep. Smaakte wel maar naar worteltjes? Zeer snel daarna het hoofdgerecht, drie schijfjes gebakken aardappel, drie ronde opgerolde gesneden schijfjes snitsel met spek erom heen. Dat was alles. Eén flesje mineraalwater erbij (€8,50!!!!). Op deze fles werd reclame gemaakt voor wijn!! Tja. Op onze vraag waar de salatteller bleef? Oeps, even vergeten! Konden we nog krijgen bij het nagerecht. Nee dank u. Wel direkt cash afrekenen, kon niet op kamernummer. In 40 minuten stonden we weer buiten. Wir hatten eine arangement so inklusive Nächte im Mercure. Karottencremesuppe im Voraus, Salatteller, Schnitsel streifen in Bauchspek und Rote Grüze nach. Alles ging sehr schnell! Was Brötchen mit Butter und Sahne, dann der Suppe. Verkostet aber schmeckt es nach Karotten? Sehr bald danach dem Hauptgang, drei Scheiben gebackener Kartoffel, drei runde geschnittene Scheiben Snitsel in Speck um herum gerollt. Das war alles. Eine Flasche Mineralwasser (€ 8,50 !!!!). Diese Flasche wurde die Werbung für Wein !! Gut. Auf unsere Frage, wo bleibt der Salatteller? Oops, ich vergaß! Wir konnten noch zum Nachtisch bekommen. Nein, danke. Aber direkte Cash-Kasse! Konnte nicht auf Zimmernummer. In 40 Minuten waren wir wieder draußen.

Bei einem Essen mit Geschäftspartnern waren wir mit der Qualität des Essens sehr zufrieden. 2x Entenbrust a la Card, einmal die Tagesempfehlung. Jeweils nur 1 Gang. Nicht nachzuvollziehen war die Wartezeit von 50 Minuten, bis das Essen auf dem Tisch stand. Für eine Essenspause während eines Meetings, eine viel zu lange Zeit. Nicht akzeptabel. Deshalb nur 3 Punkte. Der Service war hervorragend.

Wir haben uns über einen Reiseveranstalter für Halbpension entschieden und die Entscheidung war richtig.

Hier haben ich schon mit meinen Eltern gegessen. Küche und vor allem Service sind noch immer top, ich liebe es.

Hier könnte alles so toll sein und ein paar Dinge passen schon dazu, zu den Besseren in Krefeld zu gehören. Sehr gut ist die vielfältige und hochwertige Auswahl an offenen Weinen zum fairen Preis, der freundliche Service kann hierzu auch gute Empfehlungen geben. Beim Essen hingegen sprang bei mir der Funke nicht über. Gut zubereitet, wohlschmeckend, ohne Mangel: ja. Aber für mich ohne besonderen Pfiff. Und dazu diese Preise? Hier bewegt man sich auf einem Niveau, dass ich für einen Hauptgang Rindermedaillons mit einer Vorsuppe fast das Gleiche wie für ein Viergang-Menü im Fischerheim oder Chopelin gezahlt habe. Und von deren Qualität war dieses Essen hier leider doch recht weit entfernt. Also liebe Küche: Bitte legt mindestens eine Schippe drauf für volle 4 Punkte, für 5 brauchts 2.

Wir haben ein schönes Wochenende in Krefeld verbracht und das Abendessen im Hotelrestaurant auf der Terrasse war ein wichtiger Bestandteil davon. Sehr gutes Essen, ein schöner lauer Abend und sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter-

We were there. They don't know what they serve as our dishes were mixed up. When staring this to the waiter he said he could not help it as he was not in the kitchen😣 . Very expensive and we had to wait a long time between dishes. Food was also very salted.

The menu looked kind of promising, but the food was average and typically German. Ok I did order the Wiener Schnitzel... the veal was reasonably moist, but unfortunately so was the breadcrumb coating. A crispy crumb wouldn't go amiss. The wine list fairly dismal really, mostly German, mostly Riesling in the white section. Found a nice Minervois amongst the reds though. We went for convenience as we were staying at the hotel. Food not bad, but not good either. We ate out after that. Staff very pleasant though, and nice to be able to sit outside on a very warm evening.

The day's suggestion "Baked Steinbutt" tasted very delicious and was served on individual eye-shaped plates. One of the guests preferred strictly vegan/vegetarian food and the waiter was able to find a suitable solution. At about 9 p.m. the restaurant was nearly empty and quiet - therefor no need to reserve a table in advance as necessary in comparable restaurants in Düsseldorf. Unfortunately the relatively simple parking card that the restaurant visitor receives when entering the hotel premises is not compatible with the high tech hotel customer card that is necessary when the visitor wants to get back to the garage where the car has been parked, so ask for your special "exit card" when passing the hotel reception for the first time. Nice feature (and not mentioned on the hotel's website) : The day we visited the hotel , parking was free of charge for restaurant guests.
