Ismail Mermerci Gaststätte Op de Eck in Krefeld

Had dinner here several times over the last 3 years and the food and service was much better. This trip my first night I had the salad with salmon for an extra 9€! I think the forgot 1/2 the salmon but for a total of €18.50 it wasn’t too bad over all. The ice cream I had for dessert had good flavor but was a train wreck. More of a sorbet than an ice cream but not a sorbet either,, something in the middle, not creamy at all and lots of ice crystals. Unfortunately the only way I could pay was when I decided to just get up and go directly to the little work station inside, in the past they have been good about asking if we were done or wanted to pay. Second night went for the Leberkäse Spiegelei | geschmorte Senfzwiebeln | Bratkartoffeln Baverian meat loaf | fried egg | braised mustard onions | fried potatoes but they were sold out at 8pm, an hour after dinner starts and there were only 4 people there. This was the only reason I did not go to one of the places down the street. I ended up ordering the Garnelen- Risotto Safransud | Orangen | gegrillte Tomaten Prawn risotto | saffron broth | oranges | grilled tomatoes instead. I was suspicious when it came out in 12 minutes and rightly so. The prawns were over cooked and rubbery, the rice was under cooked and not creamy at all, practically just normally cooked rice which I suspected when it was served perfectly formed in a cylinder. There were no oranges, I think they forgot the saffron. The flavor was good but the execution was a 1, presentation saved it from a 0. Will only eat here again as a last resort. Apparently you can’t post a second review, just update. I downgraded the food and service portion. Due to circumstances I could either not eat or eat here. I should have not eaten or ordered some delivery. The menu is limited and tonight the only thing I was looking forward to was a good schnitzel which was on the menu, or rather schnitzel was on the menu. It was mediocre at best, you can’t post a make better at home even if you never made it before. Zero seasoning and over cooked in oil that was not up to temp to start with. The cucumber salad was not what I was expecting. I was hoping it would be the yummy German cucumber salad I have grown to love but alas, it was a bowl of cucumbers drenched in oil with some flakes of onion and some pea shoots or sprouts of some kind on it. I thought maybe I could order dessert, the lemon tart sounded good but after 25 minutes of waiting I decided to leave, 90 minutes total! I guess they didn’t have desserts tonight. Could have crossed it off, made a sign, or told people. Hopefully tomorrow I can go somewhere else. I’d hate to see how they ruin the crispy chicken burger here. The food used to be so good too.

When it's full, it's uncomfortably loud and cramped. That was the case for us. Otherwise, it's great. The food is delicious. Overall, it's quite expensive, but that's no better at other chains. The staff is very friendly!

Waited 25 minutes and still didn't get there. I had two customers in front of me, 30 degrees in the shade and I had to stand in the sun for over 25 minutes and there was no sign of my turn coming soon. Incredibly slow way of working, even if it's hot in the place, that's no reason not to serve customers. Then I just left and didn't get anything for lunch. It's disgraceful how they ignore the customers here!

Simply a lovely place to linger or a good stop during a bike ride. It's particularly atmospheric towards sunset. The food is good and the staff very friendly.
