The staff from check-in to check-out was extremely friendly and that is something that is greatly appreciated and admired! The food is simply a poem on the palate, all very delicious. I am grateful for my birthday cake. Thank you, simply a good place to spend special events or taste Japanese food. 100% recommended

The food is nothing special, pretty tasteless; Service was also very lifeless and inattentive - we waited almost half an hour for the second glass of wine and were charged 200 grams of Wagyu instead of the 100 grams ordered, so never again! The food was much better 2-3 years ago, for the same money there is much better quality at Matsuhisa!

Koi is a fantastic Japanese restaurant located on Wittelbacherplatz. It also made it to the Michelin guide in 2024! On arriving, we were immediately seated at our table on the 1st floor. The decor & ambience is cosy, comfortable with warm lighting. Was impressed with the service throughout the evening - kudos to the team. To start with, we called for a Japanese Lemonade and a Miyazaki Fizz (good, steady drinks). The food was delicious - for starters we had the Crispy fried calamari, Horenzo Gomae (both were outstanding), for mains had the Bergpfeffer Dorade (must try) with a Japanese Sweet potato side (average) and Ebi & Sake Maki (fresh and good). We wrapped the meal with a Chocolate Fondant with Sesame Icecream (tasted like a regular dessert elsewhere). Great evening, enjoyed the food (high on flavour!). Koi is a good option to celebrate a special evening (we had 3-4 people around celebrating birthdays).

Bento box without any special taste, fresh ingredients, but without a real Japanese touch. Asian food inspired by Japanese cuisine, but without the true umami taste and without any real added value. The seaweed salad tastes of glutamate, like the vacuum-packed one from the supermarket. The water bottles are served already opened, although they should normally be opened in front of the guest to ensure authenticity. Nice place and good service but not recommended for the food. Very expensive for the quality offered. The Michelin inspectors should reconsider their recommendation.

Average dishes and not really very refined. The water billed at €9.50 and not opened in front of us, we have great doubts and think that it is carbonated tap water. The bottle does not have the lower crown of the capsule. Also strange that the Michelin guide lists this restaurant.

Great food, great service and great ambience.

The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, the service was also wonderfully nice and well trained, just a little slow or sometimes inattentive. My starter with miso aubergine was incredibly delicious, after that other dishes were more like that. Tuna tartare that wasn't seasoned enough, where the fish wasn't that fresh anymore. Matcha cake that was bone dry and couldn't be saved by the sweet woodruff ice cream. It was good, but I expected a lot more for the price - unfortunately!

Nice restaurant in the centre of town! It is quite noisy and the food was good but not sure worth the price they charge. It was tasty don’t get me Wrong!

Typical Chinese restaurant where it is easier to order with a QR code than in person. Lots of delicious vegetarian options are available. And the drinks were great!

Complessivamente serata piacevole seppur a mio giudizio eccessivamente caro per l’offerta Sebbene sia stato nel complesso positivo non mi lascia la voglia di tornare.

Die Tische standen sehr nah beieinander. Für ein hochpreisiges Restaurant ist es nicht passend. Für meinen Geschmack keine warme Atmosphäre. Das Essen schmeckt gut, ist aber viel zu teuer. Also kein gerechtfertigtes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Wir waren gestern hier zum Mittagessen. Die Bentobox war ebenso lecker wie der hervorragende Spinatsalat. Dank des sehr aufmerksamen Service haben wir uns sofort wohl gefühlt! Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Unfortunately everything was just mediocre. When the evening starts with the message: “Edamame are out today” And we had to return the chicken gyoza because it burned. When you get the information that it was the last portion and there are no more, it's not that satisfactory. The sushi was good, the Vario croquettes too, and in our opinion the service had far too much citrus juice, which completely masked the taste. The staff is not well trained, we were served food several times that wasn't for us. Our waiter was also only moderately friendly. All in all it was ok, but nothing more.

In the past, the portions were smaller and the sharing concept was more consistent. What remains are the high prices and consistently good food. Ambience, especially outside, is A1. Our service employee was a bit dreamy, but still very nice. All in all, still worth recommending!

Service was good; Sitting outside was pleasant. We didn't really like the price-performance ratio. The taste was good, but far from a taste explosion. Sushi rolls were rather dry. The food must dominate the rating, so no more than 3 stars in the overall rating. CONCLUSION: There are definitely other options in Munich to fully enjoy Asian cuisine. Unfortunately not here - it's a shame.

Wir haben uns online informiert wo wir unseren Jahrestag feiern. Nach Vergleichen mehrere Speisekarten fiel dir Entscheidung auf das KOI. Im Restaurant stellten wir fest das dir Preise mit den Preisen online nichts zu tun haben. Nur Edamame statt 7€ satte 9.80€ . Das sind fast 40% mehr. Diese Preiserhöhung gilt für die komplette Speisekarte. Die Portionen sind sehr klein, das Essen extrem teuer. Wir zahlten knapp 90 € zu zweit und verließen hungrig das Restaurant. Geschmacklich würde ich eine Note 2+ vergeben, würde aber unsere Auswahl kein zweites Mal bestellen Sehr schafe, denn es ist ein tolles undsnsprechenfes Restaurant. Aber nur teuer steht nicht für Qualität ...

Out-of-this-world service and very nice atmosphere! The area is quite touristic and chic, yet the restaurant was not pretentious. Definitely coming back!

Ambiente passte nicht zur hochpreisigen Karte, Tisch zu eng platziert, man hört jedes Gespräch vom Nachbartisch, DJ zu laut und absolut unpassend. Anweisungen zwischen Serviceleiter und Kellnern direkt am Tisch zu hören (Kommentare über Tische oder wie etwas verkauft werden soll). Wir hatten Vorspeise und Hauptspeise und beide Gänge waren maximal in Ordnung, jedoch weit weg von den völlig überzogenen Preisen, die wir am Schluss zahlten. Absolut unspektakuläre Erfahrung, die wir nicht wiederholen werden.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang und Platzierung am Wunschtisch. Toller Service mit Erklärung der Speisen. Das Essen ist ein Traum, genauso wie die hervorragenden Cocktails. Dj Begleitung mit toller Chillout Musik. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne ins Koi zum Essen und Trinken.

Insgesamt nicht gerade ein Schnäppchen, aber das Geld wert. Das Ambiente war schön und das Sushi / Sashimi etc. sehr gut. Qualität hat da halt ihren Preis.

Business Dinner im Koi Das Koi hat eine super Lage und ist modern und ansprechend gestaltet. Wir haben das Dinner mit 4 Personen auf der Terrasse eingenommen. Der Service war ausgezeichnet. Das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis ist für die Qualität und gehobene Küche verständlich. Es ist nichts für ein schmales Portmonai. Teuer für sehr gutes Essen. Alles in Allem ein guter und gelungener Abend. Werde noch einmal kommen. Wer außergewöhnliche Gerichte probieren möchte ist hier ganz gut aufgehoben.

Yes, not exactly a cheap fast food joint. But it wasn't expected either 😉 My ABSOLUTE price-performance recommendation: the Koi Bento Box 🍱 – very delicious for €26 Otherwise: Absolutely Munich – if you know what I mean – some love it, some hate it, I prefer to enjoy it with curiosity and humor.

The yellowfin carpaccio and beef appetizers were excellent, however, the main course (miso glazed black cod) was dry (difficult to prepare a dry black cod!) and overcooked and tasted like warmed-up. In other words disappointing. My spouse's shrimp tempura roll was equally disappointing, cold sushi rice, shrimp overcooked with a panko crust that was neither crispy nor tasty. The chocolate dessert was again great. The mixed food at a steep price would not bring me back to this place.

Really enjoyed dinner at Koi. It is the perfect place for a special dinner. Great drinks selection and the food was delicious. Really delicate and perfectly cooked beef dish and sashimi platter one of the best in Munich.

Izakaya meets Munich :-) The location right next to Wittelsbacher Platz is hard to beat. Munich from the picture book. Anyone expecting simple, cheap cuisine here will be disappointed. But the food is really impressive and I really like the sharing concept. All dishes arrive when they are ready and end up in the middle of the table. The wine selection is also good. Fine-dry Riesling from Molitor goes perfectly with Japanese food. All the dishes we had were sophisticated, extremely well made and perfectly seasoned. The service was extremely pleasant and surprisingly friendly. We will be back definitely.

We sat in the gallery. The tables for two are comfortable, but a bit small. Overall it is a bit too dark to be able to read the map. Today on Saturday a DJ was playing here who played music that was way too loud and not really suitable for an Asian restaurant. Starter: Char cevice and fried calamari pieces with jalapeño mayo. These were really very good. Main course: Black cod from the charcoal grill and sushi with three different types of fish. Both dishes were okay, but presented quite unimaginatively. Unfortunately, the service at the gallery left something to be desired. Very friendly, no question! But overall a bit too inattentive. We were surprised that both wines (bottles) and desserts were sold out with the restaurant half full.

Wir saßen auf der Galerie. Die 2er Tische sind gemütlich, aber etwas klein. Es ist insgesamt etwas zu dunkel, um die Karte lesen zu können. Heute am Samstag hat hier ein DJ aufgelegt, der insgesamt viel zu laute und nicht wirklich passende Musik für ein asiatisches Restaurant aufgelegt hat. Vorspeise: Cevice vom Saibling und frittierte Calamari Stücke mit Jalapeño Mayo. Diese waren wirklich sehr gut. Hauptspeise: Black Cod vom Holzkohlengrill und Sushi mit drei verschiedenen Fischsorten. Beide Speisen waren okay, aber recht einfallslos präsentiert. Der Service auf der Galerie hat leider etwas zu wünschen übrig gelassen. Sehr freundlich, keine Frage! Insgesamt aber aber etwas zu unaufmerksam. Überrascht hat uns, dass sowohl Weine (Flaschen) als auch Desserts, bei einem halbvollen Restaurant ausverkauft waren.

There was a lot missing in terms of taste! Eggplant just sweet, Esamame Lemon very buttery and unseasoned, cevicche really just sour and not finely balanced, salmon tartar OK, Black Angus probably good, nigiri normal. Pouilly Fumé for €69 is not of good quality. The service was very attentive and friendly, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but I wouldn't eat there again.

We have been to the KOI several times when we are on business trips in Munich. Frankly, it was really mediocre this time. You've barely ordered the starter when it's already on the table. The black cod for at least 52 used to come nicely arranged on a slate platter, now it's just a piece of fish on some vegetables on a plate, not worth the money by any stretch of the imagination. Wasabi tastes like nothing. You are not allowed to change sushi plates, e.g. if you don't like tuna. All in all, the three of us spent 400.00 but ate much better at a much cheaper Japanese restaurant. I'm sorry, but that's how it is. Ambience is nice, service is very friendly. What doesn't work for me at all is that the data such as name and cell phone number are permanently saved when making a reservation by telephone. Data protection is unfortunately a foreign concept, even after discussion, that really bothered me.

We love koi! My daughter and I share our birthday and have a tradition of going there together on our birthday for a few years. They are so incredibly friendly and make sure to spoil us on our birthday. The food is always amazing and they're not phased at all by a (now) 12 year old in tow. One of our all time faves.

The Sushi was delicious, but I’ve had better ones (especially the tartar was only okay). The service was friendly but too motivated. Every 2 minutes someone was coming up and asking if we want sth else, if everything is ok etc. While I appreciate an attentive service, this was too much. I enjoyed the dinner, but for this price I know better ones.

Insanely delicious and authentic food that even convinced my husband, who has already been to Japan 6 times and can no longer be knocked out of his socks so quickly. We were able to watch the chefs preparing the food because we were sitting at the counter in front of the kitchen and suddenly had the feeling of being in Japan itself again! The service was excellent, cannot say a single bad thing. A very rare experience service-wise in Munich. Special thanks to the blond waitress which attended to our table. The two other people were super friendly as well. The service was also quick and so attentive, thank you! Now to the food: we were a bit disappointed, to be honest. With the prices that high, something was lacking. Though we cannot say it was not tasty, it was, it just was not 5 out of 5. The presentation definitely was 5 out of 5, see the photos. My husband had a miso soup, and he loved it, I tried a bit, it was too sweet for me (but then again, it is a matter of taste). The tuna tatar was very good, but! It was placed on a square of rice, which was just too sweet, and the taste was overpowering. You could not taste the actual tatar. Black Angus was cooked perfectly, medium rare, just as my husband requested, but! there were just too many sesame seeds (mind you, we love them), and their taste was overpowering. The radish was a bit bland. The miso black cod was cooked to perfection, was literally melting in your mouth, yet, sesame seeds a bit too many, again. We also had shrimp tempura, which was good, but nothing special. The desert was very good, though quite pricy (16 euro). The locations is very central, easy to get to, the atmosphere inside quite pleasant, music nice, not too loud. However: a bit too dark to my taste, I could hardy read the menu, and a huge minus point, when reserving a table, I indicated it was our anniversary, and we were placed close to a shelf with menus, cutlery etc, so the service was next to me and behind me quite a lot. Not an ideal spot to celebrate a special day.

Ein Geschäftstermin führte mich wieder einmal zum Lunch ins KOI, schön und zentral am Wittelsbacher Platz gelegen. Man kann nicht meckern. Sehr gute Steaks (Entrecôte und Filet) mit tollem japanischen Touch, dazu mixed vegetables. Sehr netter und zuvorkommender Service. Ein Schöner Platz im ersten Stock. Wieder mal eine richtig gute Erfahrung - die aber wirklich sehr ihren Preis hat. Gleichwohl eine klare Empfehlung.

Leider hatten meine Partnerin und ich nach dem Essen Probleme mit dem Magen und Darm. Das ist für ein so hochpreisiges Restaurant dann doch eine große Überraschung gewesen.

Sehr feine, sorgfältig abgestimmte Speisen, optisch wunderbar angerichtet. Wir haben überraschende und sehr gute Kompositionen genossen. Das Gute an den Gerichten im KOI ist, dass sie am Tisch kombinierbar sind und jeder etwas probieren kann. Der Service war sehr freundlich, fachkundig und hat uns gut bei der Auswahl der Speisen und Getränke beraten. Für Liebhaber der japanischen Küche mit Anpassung an den europäischen Geschmack ist das KOI ein tolles Restaurant. Das Ambiente im Restaurant ist sehr angenehm, relativ dunkel, elegant und luxuriös. Besonders die Aperitivs mit japanischer Note haben uns gut gefallen. Sensationelle Weinkarte. Wir haben einen Geburtstag gefeiert und da hat uns das KOI Team mit einem speziellen Nachtisch überrascht.

Das KOI ist einfach überragend! Das Essen, der Service und das Ambiente. Alles top!
