The food was delicious, some of the best black cod I've ever eaten, but they forgot our order for the main course, it took almost an hour for them to serve us after the starter.

We've eaten here several times. From the ambiance to the food and service, everything was very relaxed and really nice! The food was absolutely delicious; I simply love this food. Everything was top-notch, and I can only warmly recommend it.

We were guests about two weeks ago, and I invited friends over for dinner. As soon as we entered, we were captivated by the stylish ambiance—a truly beautiful place. The service was first-class: extremely polite, attentive, and at the same time pleasantly quick. We were particularly impressed by the food. The quality was outstanding, with every dish tasting very high. I particularly liked the "sharing" concept, where you can share different dishes—ideal for trying a variety of dishes. While the prices are on the high side, the overall package is just right. It was absolutely worth every euro.

Good food as always. It's probably more pleasant to go there in winter because the restaurant is very nice inside while the outside atmosphere is quite simple. Prices are high, but it's worth it!

One of the worst ways to spend 150+ EUR… poor and very slow service despite the fact the restaurant was almost empty. We ordered the 55 EUR “omakase” alongside some starters. When we asked the server how many pieces or dishes there would be, he acted annoyed and could not answer. The “omakase” was a platter of assorted items that the server did not bother to introduce. The quality of the dishes ranged from poor to dismal. Overall a very disappointing experience punctuated by an exorbitant price tag.

Food was ok but price-performance ratio unfortunately not at all

Friends, the food and atmosphere are fantastic. If you're looking to get ripped off in a great setting, this one, along with all the other places, have invented something called "cover." They charge two people 800 TL for everything, including the waiter's service fee, which is about €18. And the price for one fish, two appetizers, and a salad is 4500 TL. We paid that price for four different fish, appetizers, and drinks at a famous restaurant in Thessaloniki. It's no wonder people are choosing the Greek islands every day.

Two of us went to Koi for lunch. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was of excellent quality. The selection was also very good. In my opinion, this is a very good Japanese restaurant.

It's hard to believe, but this is an authentic Japanese restaurant serving creative sushi and sashimi with German precision in the heart of Munich. Had my doubts about the authenticity of sushi and sashimi in the motherland of the Schintzel - and came out convinced that this place can compete with the usual suspects around Tsukiji (Tokyo). Job well done, fellas ...

your average expense place, food okay atmosphere a bit boring. Reason for 2 stars for me is that there was a dead fly swimming in the wine in the wine glass and they refused to bring a new one - instead they just wanted to take it out of the wine?! Either keep your place free of flies or bring a new glass of wine…

Für alle Sushi-Fans ein Muss. Noch nie so feine Sushis gegessen. Zudem eine interessante Speisekarte mit tollen Gerichten. Wir kommen gerne nochmals um diese zu versuchen.

Worst experience I’ve ever had. Bad customer service. Incompetent staff. I found a 30cms long hair in my food. The manager didn’t even apologize. Waited for my order for 45 mins, asked the waiter about it and after 10 more minutes my maki arrived with yellow ginger. Not to say how awful the salmon tasted. I asked to take that back and the answer was that I had to wait 15 more mins. Reason being there was a table with lots of people that was causing delays. Asked for a refund for that specific dish and the manager said it was not possible. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. This restaurant does not deserve the good reviews it has.

Again. Whenever I want to eat there alone, “the kitchen is already closed”. Today ready before 2pm, although according to Google the restaurant is open until 2:30pm. I walk past the restaurant at 2:45 p.m. and there are a number of customers still eating. Don't want to allocate a table for one person?

At the entrance we were only told without a friendly word that our table was only reserved for two hours. Unfortunately, the service at the table was incompetent and could not answer questions about food/drink. For the price, the food was very simple and the quality was hardly better than in any other restaurant.

The quality of the food itself is very good and creative but I hate it when I'm greeted with the sentence "the table is free for you until 9 p.m." The restaurant is in the heart of Munich and really nicely decorated, but I didn't warm to the whole thing. As soon as you ordered and had enough, there was suddenly no longer any question of any time limit and I was finished with everything at 11 p.m. Staff is otherwise really friendly but please reconsider such strange regulations 🙏🏻

Expensive sushi but excellent quality. The ambience is great and very aesthetic – perfect for a quick bento box lunch or a romantic dinner. The location at Odeonsplatz is also ideal.

We happened to find an Asian restaurant in Munich's city center and were surprised by the high quality of service; the food was delicious and the prices were reasonable for Munich.

To be honest I was a bit disappointed.

Very good food, quite high in price, but what do I expect from a restaurant in the best location in the most expensive city in Germany. You should pay 100-150/p.p. plan or more so as not to have to make too many compromises. Not extremely classic Japanese but more of a mixture of Japanese-international-urban. Everything was super tasty. The service was very, very nice, especially the Japanese colleague (great guy) - around his 50s. Atmosphere cool and cosmopolitan.

Never, never again! After several years in Munich, we finally wanted to give the KOI a chance and, apart from the rather negative reviews, have a nice evening. Unfortunately, it started out absolutely disastrous at the reception. The ladies were very rude, we were suddenly denied the promised seat and offered a seat in the far corner. Despite a lengthy discussion, the staff simply didn't care whether we stayed or went. Arrogant grin paired with arrogant behavior. Well, we at least wanted to give the food a chance. But where do we start... the champagne on the menu was gone, only the much more expensive one was available, the waitress was extremely snippy when we asked questions about the food and unfortunately the food was so incredibly bad that we didn't want to order anything after the starters. If you travel around the world a lot and have gotten to know Japanese cuisine, this is a horror. The dishes have nothing to do with it, cheaply prepared, tasteless, of poor quality, tough. The price is absolutely outrageous for such “food”. It's sad that such an arrogant and bad restaurant is in such a beautiful location, the reviews were definitely true! If we could give minus points, we would!

Unfortunately, KOI didn't convince us. Although the cuisine is Asian-inspired, it doesn't seem authentic or really well thought out (for example the sauce combinations). The starters didn't convince us: the fried calamari wasn't crispy enough, and the sushi with softshell crab was overshadowed in terms of taste by a dominant leaf (probably grape leaf). Among the main courses, the half lobster with panko crunch was disappointing with an unpleasantly sweet note that seemed incongruous in combination with the teriyaki sauce. Unfortunately, the Pinot Grigio also had a poor taste. The service wasn't particularly friendly either, which had an additional negative impact on the overall impression. The 3 stars are only for the beautiful location, the appealing ambience and the tuna tartar, which was really successful. Overall, however, we think that the price-performance ratio is not right.

Unser Tisch war sehr dunkel , da als einziger Tisch in der Reihe keine Decken Leuchte hatte 😵‍💫, man konnte mit der Tischleuchte kaum die Karte lesen .

Bei meinem letzten Besuch im [Name des Restaurants] durfte ich sowohl die Atmosphäre als auch den Service genießen. Das Ambiente ist wirklich überragend – eine gelungene Kombination aus stilvollem Design und gemütlicher Atmosphäre, die zum Verweilen einlädt. Der Service war äußerst freundlich und kompetent. Die Mitarbeiter waren aufmerksam und stets bereit, bei Fragen oder Wünschen behilflich zu sein. Das hat den Abend sehr angenehm gestaltet. Leider konnte das Essen nicht ganz mit dem positiven Eindruck des Services und des Ambientes mithalten. Bei allen drei Gängen hat uns das Gewisse Etwas gefehlt. Die Gerichte waren wunderschön angerichtet und das Auge isst bekanntlich mit, doch die Aromen harmonierten leider nicht so recht miteinander. Man hatte das Gefühl, dass sie nicht im Einklang waren mit dem, was man sich von einem solchen Restaurant erwartet. Insgesamt war es ein schöner Abend, der durch den hervorragenden Service und das tolle Ambiente glänzte, aber kulinarisch blieb er hinter den Erwartungen zurück. Ich hoffe, dass zukünftige Besuche eine Verbesserung in der Geschmacksentwicklung zeigen werden.

Unfortunately totally overrated! Only the service was good. The shrimp starter was completely disappointing and the sauce is anyone's guess with mayonaise and siracha. We were more convinced by the deer. The pork belly had no crust and the meaty part was tough. The salmon was dry. That wouldn't be enough for a normal-priced restaurant, but for this price it's almost a bit cheeky.

Everything was taken into account, absolutely perfect visit and the food was simply insanely good. Also shoutout to the waitress who was amazing!

Empfang an der Tür sehr freundlich bis zum Tisch gebracht, ob da der Service übernommen und war den gesamten Abend über sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen ist qualitativ und äußerlich sehr einladend. Da merkt man, das ein Könner am Werke ist. Es ist für jeden Geldbeutel was angeboten, auch für Familien mit Kindern geeignet. We have been going to Koi regularly for years and have always been very satisfied. It's all the more unfortunate that I can only give a mediocre rating today. For the first time in years, both the service and the cuisine fell far short of our expectations. While the starters were completely ok, things got completely out of hand, especially with the meat dishes. In my opinion, the pork belly didn't see the charcoal, nor did the yakitori chicken, which was served cold and tough, but with almost no sauce. The pork belly was completely soft and completely lacked a crispy crust. I really hope this was just a blip and not a starting trend. We give away another chance, but only one more.

Gutes und solides Essen in netter Atmosphäre. Generell ein schönes Erlebnis, was jedoch von der nicht gerade freundlichen „Greeterin“ geschmälert wurde.

Wir gehen seit Jahren regelmäßig ins Koi und waren immer sehr zufrieden. Um so bedauerlicher, dass ich heute nur eine mittelmäßige Wertung abgeben kann. Zum ersten mal seit Jahren blieben sowohl der Service, wie auch die Küche weit hinter unseren Erwartungen zurück. Waren die Vorspeisen noch völlig ok, lief es vor allem bei den Fleischgerichten völlig aus dem Ruder. Die Holzkohle hat der Schweinebauch meines Erachtens genauso wenig gesehen, wie das Yakitori Hähnchen, welches kalt und zäh, dafür aber fast ohne Soße serviert wurde. Der Schweinebauch war dafür komplett weich und ließ eine knusprige Kruste komplett vermissen. Ich hoffe sehr, dass dies nur ein Ausrutscher und kein beginnender Trend war. Wir vergeben eine neue Chance, aber nur noch eine.

Service and wine were great, the food is below average especially the sushi! For 150€/person definitely not worth it.

Das Essen und Drinks waren ausnahmslos exzellent und die Location etwas laut aber sehr schön - einziger Wermutstropfen war unser Kellner, der leider nur aufgesetzt freundlich war und eher desinteressiert gewirkt hat. Wir würden vermutlich dennoch wegen der Qualität der Küche wieder kommen.

Service is very important here! The food is always very tasty and the service is top notch. Unfortunately I have to edit this review. Service is no longer a priority; our waiter (in front of the kitchen) was very nice and attentive, but the reception was anything but friendly. Something so musty and rude doesn't exactly make the visit an experience. You actually should have left immediately. Food was more spectacular 5 years ago, but definitely tasty. But it was definitely my last visit to the Koi. A service worker who was standing at the exit as we left apparently didn't think it was necessary to say goodbye. People stay at home if you don't feel like the job. You're scaring away the guests. . .

Location is good and service is speedy and friendly. The place is large and noisy. The food is average (tempura wasn't crispy, calamari were over-fried, only rolls were Ok). Same time the pricing is very high, on top of best Japanese offerings in Munich, but with that average food it is not making a value. Won't return.

Visited Koi for our wedding anniversary. The atmosphere and the service were great. The food was rather average. So go there for the exclusivity and atmosphere but if you want to get the best Asian cuisine you might find it somewhere else.

We spent a wonderful evening in this Japanese restaurant yesterday. The service was absolutely outstanding – attentive, friendly and professional. The kitchen surprised us with unusual flavor combinations that were really a highlight. We tried colorful beetroot salad, Wagyu croquettes, calamari, chicken skewers, sake & avocado sushi and 1 scoop of black sesame ice cream and also treated ourselves to 3 unusual cocktails. Even though the prices are on the high end, the evening was worth every penny and we look forward to coming back! S&D from Munich

The food is nothing special, pretty tasteless; Service was also very lifeless and inattentive - we waited almost half an hour for the second glass of wine and were charged 200 grams of Wagyu instead of the 100 grams ordered, so never again! The food was much better 2-3 years ago, for the same money there is much better quality at Matsuhisa!

A very nice place, ambient music at a quite acceptable volume, as you can talk and listen to the conversation. The food was exquisite and the staff always attentive. Thank you for the birthday cake, it was a wonderful detail. Do not hesitate to visit this restaurant 100% recommended.

Beim Haar im Essen gab es nicht mal eine Entschuldigung. Wir hatten 0,1 Liter Wein bestellt und 0,2 bekommen, da es laut Aussage unserer Kellnerin sonst so wenig Wein ist. Wir waren mit dem Auto da 🥴 Berechnet wurden natürlich die 0,2 Liter für den doppelten Preis. Das Essen war super, der Service grenzwertig.

Der Service war super. Ich war das erste Mal da. Das Essen war sehr lecker und schön angerichtet. Es wurde alles genau erklärt. Ich kann das Restaurant jedem weiterempfehlen, der japanische Küche mag. Hat Sterneniveau.

The decor & ambience is cosy, comfortable with warm lighting. Was impressed with the service throughout the evening - kudos to the team. To start with, we called for a Japanese Lemonade and a Miyazaki Fizz (good, steady drinks). The food was delicious - for starters we had the Crispy fried calamari, Horenzo Gomae (both were outstanding), for mains had the Bergpfeffer Dorade (must try) with a Japanese Sweet potato side (average) and Ebi & Sake Maki (fresh and good). We wrapped the meal with a Chocolate Fondant with Sesame Icecream (tasted like a regular dessert elsewhere). Great evening, enjoyed the food (high on flavour!). Koi is a good option to celebrate a special evening (we had 3-4 people around celebrating birthdays).

Average dishes and not really very refined. The water billed at €9.50 and not opened in front of us, we have great doubts and think that it is carbonated tap water. The bottle does not have the lower crown of the capsule. Also strange that the Michelin guide lists this restaurant.

Bento box without any special taste, fresh ingredients, but without a real Japanese touch. Asian food inspired by Japanese cuisine, but without the true umami taste and without any real added value. The seaweed salad tastes of glutamate, like the vacuum-packed one from the supermarket. The water bottles are served already opened, although they should normally be opened in front of the guest to ensure authenticity. Nice place and good service but not recommended for the food. Very expensive for the quality offered. The Michelin inspectors should reconsider their recommendation.

The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, the service was also wonderfully nice and well trained, just a little slow or sometimes inattentive. My starter with miso aubergine was incredibly delicious, after that other dishes were more like that. Tuna tartare that wasn't seasoned enough, where the fish wasn't that fresh anymore. Matcha cake that was bone dry and couldn't be saved by the sweet woodruff ice cream. It was good, but I expected a lot more for the price - unfortunately!
