Very good cuisine and very tasty, especially the starter ☺️ Unfortunately, there are differences between the guests, which is difficult to understand. Others are asked for an ouzo after their meal and others are not (37€ consumed alone, which is not a small amount!). I personally think it's a shame who should everyone be treated equally? But well, good cuisine in general, but it doesn't have to be like that. Therefore 4 stars overall!

The restaurant only opened in Unterrath in June 2022. It is very close to the airport main entrance and is also ideal for a delicious meal before a flight. The food was very tasty, the service was very friendly - great value for money. We sat on the terrace, but everything inside has been renovated in a very modern way. It wasn't the last visit for us, please keep it up!!!!

Very good food and a nice atmosphere, at a good price/performance ratio. We recommend the pork fillet skewer 🐷 or the baby calamari which we had. A small drawback, although it is very nicely furnished, it is very noisy, I think if it is a little more crowded it could be too loud for some. However, we went there early in the week for lunch and it didn't get busier until we were done.

After several visits to the restaurant, I think it is possible to give an appropriate judgment regarding the above criteria "food, service and ambience". When it comes to the food on offer, Kavala definitely stands out from the usual "French fries shop" and strives to create an authentic Greek style through a large selection of food and some drinks. I found the option of ordering Greek beer (Mythos) particularly pleasing compared to other restaurants with a Greek menu. The majority of the menu consists of the usual meat-heavy dishes, as is usually the case in other Greek restaurants. However, this is by no means a bad thing, as there is a certain variety of individual dishes on offer and the dishes therefore do not have the character of a "cheap" standard dish. In addition to the above-mentioned variance in the offering, the portion size of the orders can also be positively highlighted, which seemed quite appropriate to me. In this context, reference should be made to the size of the desserts, as one of the photos shows. Overall, there is little to complain about in terms of the restaurant's service, as the staff strives to ensure that the guests are in a pleasant atmosphere and ensure their well-being. This becomes visible in the very attentively presented Ouzo glasses that guests receive during their visit, which are common in most Greek restaurants. However, one of the few minor flaws that arose during the course of the visit is that there were sometimes difficulties with ordering, as these were probably forgotten in the hustle and bustle of a full restaurant. Unfortunately, it also happened time and time again that there were difficulties with payment due to the technology at the checkout, which unfortunately made the payment process take longer. Finally, I would like to give a short verdict or a short report on the ambience of the restaurant. The Kavala tries very hard to evoke the style and atmosphere of a Greek building/temple through the interior and, for the most part, does this very well. The only problems in this context are the front area of ​​the restaurant, which has more of a tavern style, and smaller details of the furnishings that catch the eye or ear at certain events, such as the large television that runs specifically during football games. Apart from the interior, the Kavala also offers a very beautiful and separate outdoor area, which certainly functions as a wonderful beer garden in the summer (I have never been able to use this area of ​​the restaurant as a guest myself and will therefore refrain from judging). As a final point regarding the ambience, it can be emphasized both positively and negatively that the Kavala is well suited for celebrations or meals with several people, although you should consider whether you reserve a table there in the evening during larger trade fairs or the aforementioned festivities, as it can then become considerably louder there and this can possibly make it very difficult for those who are not involved to have a quiet or sociable evening with quiet conversations. Overall, despite minor comments regarding the service and the ambience, from my point of view as a multiple guest I can definitely recommend the Kavala to anyone who wants to have a nice evening in the Greek ambience in Unterrath.

I was at Düsseldorf airport and wanted something better and cheaper than the "restaurants" there. I found this here. Only 10 minutes walk from the airport. Very large portions. It tasted good and filled me up well. And you can sit comfortably outside in the sun. Clear recommendation!

After I had a positive experience in the summer, I wanted to have a delicious Greek meal here again. For the main course I ordered a mixed platter with gyros, souvlaki and lamb chops. The gyros were okay, the souvlaki were way too dry so I didn't eat them and the lamb chop was quite fatty. About a third. The chop was made of fat. When I was clearing up, I politely addressed the above points when asked. There was no reaction to this.

While passing through Düsseldorf, not far from the airport, we discovered a Greek restaurant, a real, authentic one. Welcoming, kindness and competence of the staff were there! The food is excellent and the portions are generous. We had a great time. We will come back on our next visit.

Cologne residents would write: typically Düsseldorf, but let's remain impartial in this local color. With our Greek language skills, we got an unreserved table in the restaurant; the seats outside were occupied on a warm May day. After us, a group of mechanics sat down at our neighboring table, obviously after a physically strenuous day. After a long period of time in which nothing at all happened, at least the fitters were allowed to order drinks and food. The two “disguised Greeks” at the next table were probably because because of their poor knowledge of the Greek language, and were punished with disregard. At some point we were allowed to order. The tzatziki that was served tasted fresh, a bit like dill, but overall it was delicious, and the starter salad that was served also tasted good. We noticed that a young woman was only eating a salad, but then, completely incomprehensibly to us, she paid for a meat dish at the counter behind us and left the restaurant. In retrospect, this bizarre situation was explained: the service took too long for her - but she went and paid for the entire meal, that is, without actually getting the meat dish. Greeks often live according to the principle: “Echume chrono” “we have time” - ie. we were more patient and got it after more than an hour! then a portion of liver; (borderline long) well done) and once souflaki (also grilled for a benevolently long time). Our fitters had a lot more fun parallel to us - the highlights are: the liver came without onions, but even more spectacularly the 4 men were presented with a total bill - see photo - of over 600 euros 😂 - of course this bill came from another table 😂😂😂. The visit had elements of “you know, fun”. The whole stay was without any fun but spiced up by an unmistakable - verbal - argument between the main waiter and a subordinate Greek waiter behind the counter - the obviously poor working conditions were topped by his unmistakable unfriendly address to a foreign person (who did not know the Greek language). ) but actually a very nice and hard-working service person towards us. Conclusion: the organization is not poor but completely inadequate, the working conditions seem to be a catastrophe, the kitchen's performance is okay, although there is room for improvement. If you find an alternative close to Düsseldorf Airport - try it out. In any case, in many ways we are very happy to be going home tomorrow morning, ie. to be able to fly to Greece. Despite all perhaps justified reservations, the service in every restaurant is incomparably better, the quality is generally better and the price, if you pay the correct bill, is more than 50% cheaper than what was offered in Düsseldorf or Germany this evening became.

We've eaten there several times. Called early on Mother's Day to reserve a table outside. This is not possible outside, so it's okay to come over spontaneously if something is available. We have 4 tables available there. Then the cellar can be reserved for everything. I don't think that's possible when you're traveling with old people

Ordered food over the phone today. The food was supposed to be ready for pickup after 20 minutes, which turned into 30 minutes. A side salad was not sealed properly, so the paper bag was soaked at the bottom and tore out of the footwell when it was removed. Now there is food worth €35 in the trash can. The restaurant employees don't care. I called again to give the tip to maybe use plastic bags instead.

Wir wohnen schon seit zwei Jahren in Unterrath und ich bereue es, dieses Restaurant jetzt erst ausprobiert zu haben. Und ich muss sagen: Das ist wirklich das beste Bifteki, was ich jemals gegessen habe! :D Die Portionen sind sehr groß. Man wird auf jeden Fall satt. Die Vorspeisen waren auch super. Mit den Preisen war ich auch sehr zufrieden. Nicht teuer und große Portionen. Auch sehr Service war sehr freundlich. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und ich freue mich jetzt schon darauf!
