This café is a great oasis of calm in the otherwise noisy center of Leipzig. The service is extremely friendly and the food is really excellent. (the fries are recommended) If you have high expectations when it comes to coffee specialties, you shouldn't go to this place. The cappuccino was tasty, but slightly below average. The highlight are of course the cats, which can be petted when the opportunity arises and contribute to a great atmosphere for all animal lovers. Would come here again, clear recommendation.

We had breakfast here on Friday and it was a thoroughly successful visit. The cats seemed relaxed and had plenty of places to retreat, the food was very good and the service was friendly, although you sometimes had to wait a bit because there were only a few staff in the café that day. But this didn't detract from the great stay.

Unfortunately far too few and experienced staff (one person on the floor and one at reception). In addition, there is clearly a lack of proper prioritization when dealing with guests. For example, it seems to be more important to clear dishes and wipe down counters than to bring guests a drink (we had a 45 minute wait for a drink, then we refrained from ordering anything to eat). But the cats seem to be doing well.

Looked really nice from the outside. Unfortunately we didn't get a table spontaneously. They said they were full and fully booked. Except for one table, all other tables were free. We found it very unfortunate.

The food is delicious. I had breakfast with the croissant. Unfortunately there is no real guacamole. They also call it Guaker Mole. Is made from peas. It's more like dry pea puree. No comparison to guacamole made from avocados. The service is nice. But it was probably still new and couldn't really answer questions. Otherwise the food is rather expensive.

best cafe ever!!!! i went there for a drink and it was the coolest atmosphere ever. the cats were adorable and there were lots of them and they seemed very happy (mostly sleeping) staff was kind and cats were friendly and the drinks were good! DEFINITELY go here if you love cats 🐈

I had reserved a table several days in advance for a birthday and also received a confirmation via email. In the evening nothing was prepared, neither a table was reserved nor was there an apology. We were supposed to choose one from two remaining tables for two. One was immediately discouraged because it could be that this table would still be needed. The other table was in the last corner, with high bar stools and the children of the family at the next table had already made themselves comfortable there to play. The table was also apparently used as a "garbage table": dirty dishes and various other rubbish piled up there. The air was extremely stuffy, it smelled musty and actually a bit like a litter box. But we expected a bit of that. What didn't work at all were the two graces who ran the place there. The two very young waitresses rolled their eyes in annoyance when we showed our reservation, the one waitress immediately turned away and sullenly asked us to come in and then explained to us that nothing had been reserved for us and that we should go somewhere upstairs should sit down at the tables for two mentioned above. Then we were released. We decided not to eat there and left the restaurant after a few minutes: the entire atmosphere, the smell, the perception of service - the whole package was just so subpar. By the way, we didn't see any cats... It's now incredibly annoying when you look up the prices of upscale restaurants but don't even begin to understand what guests can expect in return. At least a friendly welcome and appreciative interaction should be a basic requirement for a job in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended!

A cute, vegan cat café that’s great for animal lovers. The atmosphere is cozy, and if you’re a fan of cats, you’ll definitely enjoy it here—the cats are friendly and love lounging around. The food is great, especially the cakes, which were absolutely delicious and fully vegan. The coffee, however, was just okay, nothing too special. The staff was friendly and welcoming, though the food did take a bit longer to arrive than expected. If you’re looking for a unique, relaxing spot to hang out with some furry friends, it’s worth a visit.

The Cat Temple is a location with a special flair. The staff are very friendly and make the visit an experience. Despite the numerous visitors, the cats are relaxed and generally kept in a species-appropriate manner. The food isn't necessarily to my taste, but the apple pie was very tasty. I would have been happy to have food and drinks served at the same time, but that's just a small comment and everyone experiences it differently. Overall, it's worth a visit, reservations were easy online!

Brilliant idea. Food and drink are all vegetarian. Also recommended for non-vegans. The fries alone are amazing. Food is prepared with attention to detail. The café has a good idea, is beautifully decorated and the employees make an effort. However, the concept of the café was only partially understood, the highlight being the cake frozen in the middle. It was incredibly bad and, despite its beautiful presentation, dry and indefinable. You should take your own provisions with you when you visit, we don't want to mention the prices.

I always enjoy coming here. You will be served quickly and friendly. The food always tastes good and comes in large portions. (So ​​far we've always had the rest packed up to take away.) You can watch cats while you wait. They are usually somewhere above and sleeping. Occasionally one sleeps downstairs and you can actually pet it.

The two of us spontaneously came here for the holiday evening. The atmosphere is great and the cats are of course the absolute highlight, even if they certainly don't come to everyone in person. You could go there at any time and take photos and sometimes even pet them. However, you have to be aware that they are animals with their own will. The food and drinks were super delicious. We are not vegans, but everyone can find something they like here. It took a while from the time we ordered until the food arrived, but that was also due to the fact that the super nice waiter was completely alone from 7 p.m. (mind you, it was a public holiday). Management needs to plan better. Of course you could tell that the young man was under a bit of stress, but as soon as he was at the table he was always super friendly and did his best. We would definitely come back.

Very very nice restaurant and atmosphere. Of course you have to keep in mind that the four-legged friends don't want to visit everyone in person, but it's still a nice feeling when one or the other comes to stop by. In terms of price it is completely reasonable and therefore tasty. Unfortunately, it took noticeably longer than usual for the waitress to take our order.

Was my first cat temple visit. Very loving service. There were also a lot of cats, although they weren't particularly in touch at the moment, but they enriched the atmosphere. I find the menu and selection a bit small. The Tiger Bowl tasted good, but the salad and the remaining ingredients, apart from the red cabbage, weren't so fresh and crunchy that I would want to eat it again.

Very tasty food with magical cats. They are very relaxed and are definitely looking for contact. Only the service was very nice, but it took a long time for everything and didn't even ask if the food was good or if we would like something to drink (which was the case). ..we ended up paying for the plates and glasses that weren't cleared away... but the food and the catty company made up for it...

I was really looking forward to visiting the cat temple. Unfortunately the service spoiled my visit a bit. At first I didn't think the back corner where we were placed was great, but that's subjective. You just didn't have as much eye contact with the cats as you did in the front part of the café. Basically, the cats have a great run there and they all seemed super relaxed. Now to the service: After we ordered (carrot cake, apple cake and 3 drinks), the drinks came quite quickly. The cake was a long time coming...After just under 25 minutes the carrot cake arrived. I don't understand if it's already on display. Others who came after us had already received their orders. After about another 10 minutes the apple pie arrived. I found the time for 2 pieces of cake to be very excessive. If it takes longer, this can be communicated (but then other guests wouldn't have gotten their food before us) and I still didn't understand why the two pieces weren't served together. Except for the ordering process, we were ignored by the service staff (we wanted to order something more and then of course pay). All in all, it's a shame because both cakes tasted really delicious.

Very excessive prices. If I order coffee cream with black tea, I don't want normal hot, foamed milk. I was amused by the staff's idea that they should ask if they have or know of something like that in the house? It is very nicely decorated and quiet. You should bring a lot of time because it takes a while until you are served. One service for everyone and one behind the counter. On the way to the toilet you can fully see into the kitchen. Not exactly desirable when you have to. I'm not uptight or old-fashioned. But separate toilets for men and women should still be standard.

Unfortunately, we cannot understand the many positive reviews. I think vegan is great, and the employees were all friendly and attentive to the cats. However, I have many years of experience with animals and find that the cats there seem very jaded. There is hardly any reaction to petting, as it is very loud in a cafe like this, but it was noticeable that many of the animals appeared emaciated. The food and drinks themselves were also way too expensive and we didn't particularly like it. Too bad. Unfortunately, I have to question the concept.

The ambience is top 5/5, everything is clean and the cats make a great impression When it comes to food, one star is deducted for the expensive cake prices - but the taste is really great! I would give the service a 3.5/5, since you had to wait a long time for the card and to place the order, I don't know it differently there, but the employees are very friendly and treat the cats lovingly - that was nice to see. Top café, my personal favorite café in all of Leipzig. Let's start with the cats, the cats are super nice and come up to the tables every now and then without disturbing them in any way. The attitude here is extremely species-appropriate, with lots of climbing, hiding and lying opportunities. There are usually sleeping cats everywhere: above you (on a dock), behind you, in front of you, really everywhere. Simply great for cat lovers. I have only rarely noticed the criticism from some that the cats lick stuff and it is not the employees' fault, which brings us to the next point. The employees are very nice and do everything they can to accommodate the many visitors. Precisely because there are so many people, it sometimes takes a few minutes for the employees to have time to clear everything away and clean it (but it's never dirty and usually there's only one plate that sits for 10 minutes). During this short period of time, one or two cats will of course arrive and try to grab something. As an attentive and nice visitor, you can point this out to the employee, who will then take care of it immediately and are grateful for this information. But I could never find out that the cats were on your own plate and if you allow something like that to happen, it's your own fault and also irresponsible. A gentle push away is usually enough to stop the cats from doing something like that without them scratching (they never do anyway). In general, the employees are super nice and try to please everyone. When it comes to service, I never had a problem, but was actually always pleasantly surprised by the friendliness, even when a customer didn't understand why you shouldn't annoy the cats while they sleep. That is also a point: the customers. Actually the only tiny drawback in this restaurant, but no one can do anything about it. Some people come here and think they are in a petting zoo. Sometimes small children chase cats unsupervised so that the parents can have peace, or the parents chase the cats so that the children can pet them. Both are extremely irresponsible, children first have to learn how to deal with cats. It's a miracle that cats always stay calm and then simply disappear into their hiding places. In general, many people think they have to constantly touch their sleeping cats. The cats usually leave when it annoys them, but does that have to be the case? And when an employee points out to people that they shouldn't do that, do you get upset? The card even contains instructions on how to deal with the cats, how sad is that? It's best to admire the cats or just pet them if they really want to. It should actually be clear. When it comes to food, all I can say is that it is incredibly delicious. Yes, everything is vegan, but anyone who complains about it can't read. There is always a sign outside that, if I remember correctly, clearly states that the restaurant is vegan. The menu also states several times on each page that the dishes are vegan. And as a non-vegan, I also have to say that the food is still great and you only notice the difference a little. But many have to resist and act as if it was the worst. The coffee is also very tasty and everything is absolutely reasonably priced. I can't complain about the quality either, I had no problems after eating here. I've never noticed any hair in my food either. I don't think I need to say much about the ambience. It's just beautiful, you feel comfortable and if you come after rush hour you can even relax here.

I love this coffee! First of all: It is important to know that the restaurant only offers vegan food. This means that even coffee etc. only comes with oat milk! Since I'm not really the vegan type, I initially thought that coffee wasn't for me - I was very wrong! The atmosphere there is super relaxed and fun because of the cats. The cats lie, jump and run around there and it's just fun as a cat lover. Despite the oat milk, the latte was extremely tasty, which I really wouldn't have thought at first. The prices of the coffees are a bit high, but you can get almost everything else for very moderate and reasonable prices - especially for today's times. I was very skeptical about the food because I'm actually a meat lover. But I still dared to try a “temple burger” with beyond Pattie and I was surprised at how good it tasted. So, eating out is also great here, although I would especially recommend it for “drinking coffee” time. The cakes are also amazing!

You have to like cats, in my case the family was happy. The burger is an advertisement for vegan cuisine! Burger no meat, beer no alcohol, but the espresso has caffeine, is strong, black and hot as it should be. Like the burger, tasted great!

The Tunya Sandwhich was good as well as the espresso. The cats where really chill cute and sleepy around 19:00. 💫 we enjoyed our time there besides: There was no climate on and really sticky, so I got light headed while the 1 Burger and 1 Sandwhich took nearly an hour to arrive with not many guests there. The waiter and staff were friendly and quick.

This morning we were guests at the Katzentempel Leipzig Mitte shortly after the store opened. The staff was super friendly - including the many cute cats! The food was, and I say this as someone who is neither purely vegetarian nor vegan, really delicious! We chose a bowl, a breakfast and a sandwich and were all pleasantly surprised. Can really recommend a visit to everyone!

If you like cats, this is the right place!!! The store is focused on sustainability, eco and vegan, but that doesn't bother you. There I ate what I consider to be the BEST FRIES in Leipzig!! The so-called TEMPLE FRITS.

It was very nice with the cats, but you shouldn't expect cats to come to you all the time. Most people are sleeping and should be left alone. A cat greeted us, we could only watch the rest, which was ok too. Food was good, service friendly but a bit sloppy. I just sat there for 45 minutes and then asked the waiter directly if I could order. But it was probably his first day, so that's definitely not the norm. The entire food is vegan, that shouldn't bother you, but it was still good and we liked the vegan mayo better than the "normal" one.

Simply great with a clear conscience, because a few cats are no longer in the animal shelter, but have found a nice home here with lots of 'fans'. The beautiful wooden furnishings make the stay even more comfortable and cats lie around dozing in many places. Just nice, and it relaxes you right away. If you have cats yourself, you quickly get involved and try to gain their trust, or at least their attention. We managed to do this and quickly had 3 cats with us trying to get the flag with the tinsel stripes, it was just lovely. The food was no less tasty and the selection was large. You should expect €20-25 per person. We can definitely recommend the Cat Temple to anyone who wants to eat sustainably and is not allergic to cats. 👍👍

I'm massively impressed, it looked super impressive when you walked in. We were warmly welcomed when we ordered. We were able to spend some time with the cute cats. Dissapointing experience. Hopefully it was just your bad day yesterday, 'cause if not, then be glad your cute cats get you such high rating! We were waiting for almost an hour for meal, had to remind ourselves. Bowls were good except the unripe mango and dry chilli con fritten (please consider adding more toping next time so it is a proper meal and not just fried potatoes with nothing). After we finished the meal, we waited another 10-15minutes to get somebody notice us, until we decided to come to the bar and pay there and guess what - we were told to pay at the table 😭😂 . I understand when the venue is busy, I really do. What I do not understand is the waiter wandering around and petting cats as if there was nothing to do. Like Hello, you may tidy up our table, let us pay or clean the toilets that were pretty disgusting. I dared to ask for some discount for such waiting and service (I have never asked anybody until yesterday, that is how dissapointed I was. 5-10 % is a nice touch that won't kill you) It was a No with no apology and empathy. Thank you, we spent such time at your venue and it was not even worth it, just less time to see the city. To be fair, you do have cute cats. But teach your service some proactivity and empathy towards customers, even though they're tourists. Because yesterday's experience didn't feel like >4,5 rating on Google. 2* for cats, nice place (except toilets), quite good meal and one kind waitress at the beginning (long brown hair).

I had breakfast there with a colleague and was very impressed. The temple bread was delicious, as were the spreads. However, the “scrambled eggs” that my colleague ordered were not at all tasty. I prefer real scrambled eggs. The cats were very open and mostly liked to be petted. I will definitely visit this cafe again.

I rarely write negative reviews, but unfortunately I'm disappointed with my visit yesterday. The place and the concept are really great and we were looking forward to it with friends. Unfortunately, however, we waited about an hour or more for our food even though the restaurant was not at full capacity. Then finally... food was served to us one after the other, depending on what was finished cooking, so not to everyone at the same time... After eating we waited forever to be able to pay and finally leave. We only had a few hours for a rare meeting with friends in Leipzig and involuntarily spent most of the time waiting in this restaurant :(. Meanwhile the staff walked around and petted the cats, while... the toilets were completely blocked and there was toilet paper everywhere However, it's possible that we were just unlucky, as I think under other circumstances the visit could have been a pleasant experience.

The children were happy, the food was delicious and overall everything went together really well. We will be back.

For the first time I ate a purely vegetarian meal with my wife and we were both very pleasantly surprised. The food was really delicious. The ambience in the cat temple is truly unique. When the kitties aren't sleeping, they run around freely in the restaurant. If there are treats, the cats can no longer be kept. However, they rarely run across the tables. The staff is very attentive and polite without being intrusive. Very important: Without a reservation it will be very difficult to get a place.

Unfortunately we didn't eat anything but it was wonderful.. very nice atmosphere and the service was great. Everything was relaxed and calming and the drinks were super tasty 😊

Very great restaurant. We really liked the menu, as far as I know there is only veggie or vegan food here. The service and all other employees were very friendly. The cats are very cute. Gladly again

Very cozy place to relax, end the evening, have a good meal. Nice service, hospitality. In any case it wasn't the last time we were there. 🥰

So far there has been a 5 star review here because we have always really liked the food, staff and everything else. But the last visit was a huge disaster, the reason was a very strange employee, she had blonde hair and glasses. The lady quickly made a very strange impression on us, her entire service style seemed very inauthentic and fake. For us it didn't fit in with what we otherwise know from the Cat Temple, well that's just an impression for now. But when a cat climbed onto our table and briefly licked some of my companion's dip, the young lady went completely crazy. She ran to our table and violently grabbed the cat by the neck and threw it onto a bench, after which the cat was shouted at loudly. As a person who has worked with cats myself, I can say that this behavior is significantly worse for the cat than the dip was for its stomach. But that wasn't enough, after that she took the liberty of screaming at my companion and acting as if we had just tortured the cat to death. We basically didn't interact with the cat. Since it was clearly written that cats shouldn't be picked up, we were also unsure whether we should take the cat off the table or not. We have also been on many visits where cats were on other tables and this did not pose a problem. The young employee's behavior was disrespectful towards us and cruel towards the cat, it almost seemed as if she did not see the cats as sentient beings but rather as toy dolls. 10 minutes later she came back with her fake smile, there was no apology or brief factual analysis of the situation. But lunch was messed up for us and the fact that the young woman works there is definitely a reason for us to avoid this cat temple for the time being. Of course we understand that the cats are not allowed to eat anything from the plates and we respectfully tried to prevent the cat from doing so, but nothing in the world justifies the employee's reaction towards us and the cat.

An absolute must for cat lovers. The café leaves nothing to be desired. From watching cute cats and with a bit of luck even petting them to really delicious and lovingly prepared food and the super friendly staff, every visit so far has been a lovely experience. The prices are okay, you also have to remember that the cats are fully cared for and that you also pay for that.
