Really awesome experience at this restaurant! There were many cats and they even had a page on the menu dedicated for their cats😍 The location is great being very close to Marktplatz and the staff was always very friendly and helpful! When it comes to food, everything was delicious including the main course, dessert and drinks!It is nice that the cats are adopted and is a friendly environment for everyone, the cats being very funny too! Definitely check out this cafe when visiting Leipzig, you won’t regret it!

Nice café/restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, delicious vegan dishes, tailored to the season

This was our second time having breakfast here and this time we were very disappointed. The room smelled strongly of the kitchen and our clothing carried this smell with it. The bread was old and didn't get any better after being toasted. It tasted like old rusks. For the prices that promise a fresh and rich breakfast, we got quite the opposite. It's a shame, it was our last visit here.

Nice place. The food was tasty. There isn't a huge selection, but you'll fill up well and what's there is tasty. You can also just have a drink in comfort. You tend to go there because of the atmosphere/the cats anyway :) A must for every cat lover. Centrally located, easy to reach.

Super nice here! Super clean and pleasant to be with the cats (I always had some concerns about hygiene at cat cafes, but these fears were unnecessary) The cats lay around most of the time and watched or slept. The menu contains the names and characteristics of the cats and a few rules for dealing with the animals. Everything is totally uncomplicated and understandable. We just forgot about her cat hair allergy🥲😅 And of course we always love everything vegan!!💚✨

The cat temple is really beautiful. The animals seem to be doing really well there and they seem relaxed. In contrast to the waiters. We often go to the Katzentempel Mitte or Ost and it always seems that the waiters are extremely overwhelmed. On January 6th it was really because one person was completely understaffed in the store. While the lady at the coffee machine was visibly bored (by the way, the coffee in the Cat Temple really isn't the best) and three employees were having a kind of meeting in the anteroom and were clearly having fun, the waitress was running herself to death inside. They didn't dare order anything anymore because they didn't want to stress them out any further.

The Katzentempel in Leipzig Mitte is a friendly and loving place where you can enjoy good vegan food while being surrounded by cats. On busy days, especially if you come as a larger group, you need a reservation or luck to get a spot. But it's also worth waiting. If you like and the cats allow it, you can pet them, but just eating in the lively, slightly different atmosphere is worth it. The staff is also very nice and the kitchen is extremely tasty and clean.

We felt very comfortable there. The food is really tasty and the people who work there are all very accommodating. And of course the furry employees create the greatest atmosphere in the world.

The four of us stopped in at lunchtime. Excellent restaurant with excellent food. We had three different hamburgers and a sandwich. All of the food was very attractively prepared and tasted excellent. The vegan mayonnaise was very tasty. Tip: Book a table in advance.

This is definitely more cafe than cat cafe. The food (and coffee) is good, but very expensive for what it is. But the facility is clearly designed to pack as many people in and give a “bar” feel more than a cat-friendly environment. The hard concrete walls don’t even have a single drape to dampen the noise, so you hear every voice and movement of a fork on a plate as if it was into a microphone. And the high tables for sitting also make it seem to the cats that if they come near anyone they will be stomped on by accident. Altogether after 5 hours of being in the cafe on different days, I only spent 3.5 minutes near a car, and the cat did not want to be touched. I totally understand why the cats nearly never come down from the ceiling-level walkways and do not want to interact with the people. Definitely sold out from the old days with low-tables, soft acoustics, and fewer people where you were able to spend the whole time looking at and interacting with the nearby furry friends. Definitely will not be coming back again. There are many cafes down the street with a better food selection and quieter setting for chatting with friends! The workers are extremely nice and friendly though! Loved the people, just hated the way the company has changed the facility and seating!

We went to the cat temple today. The food was nothing special and the fries were horribly greasy. It's also very unpleasant after fried food. The service was slow and didn't pay any attention to the guest. When the food finally came, the drinks were all empty, but no one asked if they could have anything else. Even if the idea is nice, it's really not worth visiting.

Very tasty food and also plentiful. Even though it was purely vegetarian, it tasted almost like real meat. The service was very courteous and nice. The cats are extremely relaxed and can be petted. You can even play with them if they feel like it.

You better book the table. 8 cats (we saw near 5). Cats mostly don't want to be touched, they just look around. We waited for the food for a long time but it was tasty. The place is pricey, 2 burgers (1 from them with fries), Fritz Cola and juice costed us 47 euro.

Very nice café, great and relaxed atmosphere

We asked for tap water and they charged us 2,40€ per glass claiming it’s in the menu. When suggesting table water was this price not water from the tap they refunded us minus 1€ for the service of giving us water. For a place that clearly is serving mostly people of the LBGTQIA community I find this kind of behaviour strange. Water is a basic human right, if I wanted bottled water I would have asked for it and happily paid. If they had said it costs money I would not have gotten it or just bought a bottle of gas water for almost the same price. For being a vegan cafe some of the burgers did not taste that good, the pulled pork burger was dry and not at all like pulled pork which is very wet. The coffee was good and the gender neutral toliet stalls are such a good idea. But the food is a bit boring

I've been here several times now and if you had to describe my dream restaurant it would probably be the Cat Temple. I could spend hours watching the cute kitties. The staff is a bit dreamy and walked past us two or three times without registering us. The food and drinks here taste great. 🐈🐈‍⬛🍔

Unfortunately there were far too many people and tables, so all the cats were completely stressed. You couldn't pet any of them and two scratched, and in the end I felt very uncomfortable. It's a shame because the cats should actually be the highlight.

The cozy ambience and the loving design of the café create a relaxed atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. The cats that move freely around the room are simply adorable and make the visit even more enjoyable. The coffee and cocoa weren't outstanding, but still perfectly fine. We particularly recommend the temple fries, very tasty and good value for money. The service is friendly and attentive, and great emphasis is placed on cleanliness and the well-being of the animals. We will definitely be back and can only warmly recommend the Cat Temple!

Nice location. Anyone expecting cuddly cats at the table will be a little disappointed. The cats move freely in the room and on the climbing paths. In our case they came scurrying past 2-3 times. The food was good and the service was friendly.

This café is a great oasis of calm in the otherwise noisy center of Leipzig. The service is extremely friendly and the food is really excellent. (the fries are recommended) If you have high expectations when it comes to coffee specialties, you shouldn't go to this place. The cappuccino was tasty, but slightly below average. The highlight are of course the cats, which can be petted when the opportunity arises and contribute to a great atmosphere for all animal lovers. Would come here again, clear recommendation.

We had breakfast here on Friday and it was a thoroughly successful visit. The cats seemed relaxed and had plenty of places to retreat, the food was very good and the service was friendly, although you sometimes had to wait a bit because there were only a few staff in the café that day. But this didn't detract from the great stay.

The food is delicious. I had breakfast with the croissant. Unfortunately there is no real guacamole. They also call it Guaker Mole. Is made from peas. It's more like dry pea puree. No comparison to guacamole made from avocados. The service is nice. But it was probably still new and couldn't really answer questions. Otherwise the food is rather expensive.

I had reserved a table several days in advance for a birthday and also received a confirmation via email. In the evening nothing was prepared, neither a table was reserved nor was there an apology. We were supposed to choose one from two remaining tables for two. One was immediately discouraged because it could be that this table would still be needed. The other table was in the last corner, with high bar stools and the children of the family at the next table had already made themselves comfortable there to play. The table was also apparently used as a "garbage table": dirty dishes and various other rubbish piled up there. The air was extremely stuffy, it smelled musty and actually a bit like a litter box. But we expected a bit of that. What didn't work at all were the two graces who ran the place there. The two very young waitresses rolled their eyes in annoyance when we showed our reservation, the one waitress immediately turned away and sullenly asked us to come in and then explained to us that nothing had been reserved for us and that we should go somewhere upstairs should sit down at the tables for two mentioned above. Then we were released. We decided not to eat there and left the restaurant after a few minutes: the entire atmosphere, the smell, the perception of service - the whole package was just so subpar. By the way, we didn't see any cats... It's now incredibly annoying when you look up the prices of upscale restaurants but don't even begin to understand what guests can expect in return. At least a friendly welcome and appreciative interaction should be a basic requirement for a job in the hospitality industry. Unfortunately, absolutely not recommended!

The café has a good idea, is beautifully decorated and the employees make an effort. However, the concept of the café was only partially understood, the highlight being the cake frozen in the middle. It was incredibly bad and, despite its beautiful presentation, dry and indefinable. You should take your own provisions with you when you visit, we don't want to mention the prices.

The two of us spontaneously came here for the holiday evening. The atmosphere is great and the cats are of course the absolute highlight, even if they certainly don't come to everyone in person. You could go there at any time and take photos and sometimes even pet them. However, you have to be aware that they are animals with their own will. The food and drinks were super delicious. We are not vegans, but everyone can find something they like here. It took a while from the time we ordered until the food arrived, but that was also due to the fact that the super nice waiter was completely alone from 7 p.m. (mind you, it was a public holiday). Management needs to plan better. Of course you could tell that the young man was under a bit of stress, but as soon as he was at the table he was always super friendly and did his best. We would definitely come back.

Was my first cat temple visit. Very loving service. There were also a lot of cats, although they weren't particularly in touch at the moment, but they enriched the atmosphere. I find the menu and selection a bit small. The Tiger Bowl tasted good, but the salad and the remaining ingredients, apart from the red cabbage, weren't so fresh and crunchy that I would want to eat it again.

I was really looking forward to visiting the cat temple. Unfortunately the service spoiled my visit a bit. At first I didn't think the back corner where we were placed was great, but that's subjective. You just didn't have as much eye contact with the cats as you did in the front part of the café. Basically, the cats have a great run there and they all seemed super relaxed. Now to the service: After we ordered (carrot cake, apple cake and 3 drinks), the drinks came quite quickly. The cake was a long time coming...After just under 25 minutes the carrot cake arrived. I don't understand if it's already on display. Others who came after us had already received their orders. After about another 10 minutes the apple pie arrived. I found the time for 2 pieces of cake to be very excessive. If it takes longer, this can be communicated (but then other guests wouldn't have gotten their food before us) and I still didn't understand why the two pieces weren't served together. Except for the ordering process, we were ignored by the service staff (we wanted to order something more and then of course pay). All in all, it's a shame because both cakes tasted really delicious.

Very excessive prices. If I order coffee cream with black tea, I don't want normal hot, foamed milk. I was amused by the staff's idea that they should ask if they have or know of something like that in the house? It is very nicely decorated and quiet. You should bring a lot of time because it takes a while until you are served. One service for everyone and one behind the counter. On the way to the toilet you can fully see into the kitchen. Not exactly desirable when you have to. I'm not uptight or old-fashioned. But separate toilets for men and women should still be standard.

Unfortunately, we cannot understand the many positive reviews. I think vegan is great, and the employees were all friendly and attentive to the cats. However, I have many years of experience with animals and find that the cats there seem very jaded. There is hardly any reaction to petting, as it is very loud in a cafe like this, but it was noticeable that many of the animals appeared emaciated. The food and drinks themselves were also way too expensive and we didn't particularly like it. Too bad. Unfortunately, I have to question the concept.

Top café, my personal favorite café in all of Leipzig. Let's start with the cats, the cats are super nice and come up to the tables every now and then without disturbing them in any way. The attitude here is extremely species-appropriate, with lots of climbing, hiding and lying opportunities. There are usually sleeping cats everywhere: above you (on a dock), behind you, in front of you, really everywhere. Simply great for cat lovers. I have only rarely noticed the criticism from some that the cats lick stuff and it is not the employees' fault, which brings us to the next point. The employees are very nice and do everything they can to accommodate the many visitors. Precisely because there are so many people, it sometimes takes a few minutes for the employees to have time to clear everything away and clean it (but it's never dirty and usually there's only one plate that sits for 10 minutes). During this short period of time, one or two cats will of course arrive and try to grab something. As an attentive and nice visitor, you can point this out to the employee, who will then take care of it immediately and are grateful for this information. But I could never find out that the cats were on your own plate and if you allow something like that to happen, it's your own fault and also irresponsible. A gentle push away is usually enough to stop the cats from doing something like that without them scratching (they never do anyway). In general, the employees are super nice and try to please everyone. When it comes to service, I never had a problem, but was actually always pleasantly surprised by the friendliness, even when a customer didn't understand why you shouldn't annoy the cats while they sleep. That is also a point: the customers. Actually the only tiny drawback in this restaurant, but no one can do anything about it. Some people come here and think they are in a petting zoo. Sometimes small children chase cats unsupervised so that the parents can have peace, or the parents chase the cats so that the children can pet them. Both are extremely irresponsible, children first have to learn how to deal with cats. It's a miracle that cats always stay calm and then simply disappear into their hiding places. In general, many people think they have to constantly touch their sleeping cats. The cats usually leave when it annoys them, but does that have to be the case? And when an employee points out to people that they shouldn't do that, do you get upset? The card even contains instructions on how to deal with the cats, how sad is that? It's best to admire the cats or just pet them if they really want to. It should actually be clear. When it comes to food, all I can say is that it is incredibly delicious. Yes, everything is vegan, but anyone who complains about it can't read. There is always a sign outside that, if I remember correctly, clearly states that the restaurant is vegan. The menu also states several times on each page that the dishes are vegan. And as a non-vegan, I also have to say that the food is still great and you only notice the difference a little. But many have to resist and act as if it was the worst. The coffee is also very tasty and everything is absolutely reasonably priced. I can't complain about the quality either, I had no problems after eating here. I've never noticed any hair in my food either. I don't think I need to say much about the ambience. It's just beautiful, you feel comfortable and if you come after rush hour you can even relax here.

I love this coffee! First of all: It is important to know that the restaurant only offers vegan food. This means that even coffee etc. only comes with oat milk! The cats lie, jump and run around there and it's just fun as a cat lover. Despite the oat milk, the latte was extremely tasty, which I really wouldn't have thought at first. The prices of the coffees are a bit high, but you can get almost everything else for very moderate and reasonable prices - especially for today's times. I was very skeptical about the food because I'm actually a meat lover. But I still dared to try a “temple burger” with beyond Pattie and I was surprised at how good it tasted. So, eating out is also great here, although I would especially recommend it for “drinking coffee” time. The cakes are also amazing!

You have to like cats, in my case the family was happy. The burger is an advertisement for vegan cuisine! Burger no meat, beer no alcohol, but the espresso has caffeine, is strong, black and hot as it should be. Like the burger, tasted great!

The Tunya Sandwhich was good as well as the espresso. The cats where really chill cute and sleepy around 19:00. 💫 we enjoyed our time there besides: There was no climate on and really sticky, so I got light headed while the 1 Burger and 1 Sandwhich took nearly an hour to arrive with not many guests there. The waiter and staff were friendly and quick.

This morning we were guests at the Katzentempel Leipzig Mitte shortly after the store opened. The staff was super friendly - including the many cute cats! The food was, and I say this as someone who is neither purely vegetarian nor vegan, really delicious! We chose a bowl, a breakfast and a sandwich and were all pleasantly surprised. Can really recommend a visit to everyone!

Really recommended for animal lovers. Just please don't feed them, it's not healthy for the animals.
