Kartoffelstube in Rostock

For the second time I came to this restaurant for professional reasons. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the welcome was very friendly. At lunchtime on a Friday it was pleasantly quiet, so I was able to study the clear menu in a relaxed atmosphere. As expected, it mainly offers potato dishes, which gives the impression that true professionals are at work here. Unfortunately, my dish only partially fulfilled this expectation: I had fried potatoes with two fried eggs, currently €12.90. The taste of the potatoes was good, but the amount of potatoes could easily accommodate three fried eggs. The salad portion that came with it was varied (five components), but unfortunately quite small. The main problem was with the fried potatoes themselves: some of them were pale and soft instead of being nice and crispy - a clear weak point. The service, on the other hand, was always present and very friendly, which made the stay pleasant. Overall, the restaurant is a solid, middle-class residential area restaurant that is particularly suitable for regular guests who like to eat out. Despite small weaknesses, I can recommend it!

We had reserved seats for November 9th, 2024 because we liked to eat here with our daughter and son-in-law. After we had to wait to be seated because the restaurant was very busy and onions and ham were forgotten in our son-in-law's farmer's breakfast, which were added later, we exceeded the parking time by 39 minutes. What we hadn't noticed was that the parking time was now monitored with cameras instead of the clearly visible parking meter in the car as before. And so it brought us a “tuber”, because that is no longer a “tube”, of 53 €! Several inquiries in the potato parlor. Why there is no indication in the restaurant that there is the possibility of having legitimate residents extend the parking time remained unanswered. The obvious lack of interest in the guests meant that we and our friends and acquaintances will no longer visit the potato parlor!

We got a seat spontaneously and without a reservation, at the staff table but that was completely fine. The food was very tasty and was served quickly. The prices were also very reasonable.

The food was very good and tasty. What I have to complain about is that on Sundays a wheelchair user hardly has a chance to eat there because he can't get to the restaurant alone. Maybe you should think about the fact that people with mobility issues also want to eat out.

Today I wanted to try out home-style cooking in the potato parlor, the price-performance ratio wasn't right at all, I had a steak our four, a small portion prepared with little love and unfortunately lukewarm. I can't recommend it

A small suggestion for improvement: The location could really benefit from a contemporary renovation. A fresh, modern ambience would further enhance the overall experience. Nevertheless, the restaurant has a special charm and I can only recommend it! I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

It used to be better. Long waiting times, food doesn't come to the table at the same time, soup is too salty, quality is what you're looking for here, glasses were dirty. Lots of little things that contribute to the overall negative picture.

Good home cooking at fair prices

Everything was getting old, so almost everyone was cold or sober. Bk without onions and bacon??? HMMMM that's what it tasted like. Quality isn't exactly good.

We ordered online, unfortunately the quality we knew from before is no longer available. Food tastes bland, the assiettes don't do anything positive for fries... Prices are not justified. We hope the location finds its way back to its former glory.

Very nice people, very tasty and beautifully located. Was there the 2nd time. What has changed since February 24 is that there is now a parking monitoring system. Good solution to keep wild parkers away.

Unfortunately I can only give 3 stars today. I know the potato parlor's food differently. It was only lukewarm today, the hollandai sauce was cold! It was probably poured straight from the package into the bowl. It wasn't self-made. The vegetables were frozen vegetables! The menu says fried potatoes as a side dish for the steak au four and croquettes were served?! Why, it wasn't ordered differently! Well, good. The seasoning on the steak was a little dry, no seasoning sauce. Mayonnaise and ketchup (in a sachet) cost €1 extra, which is pretty outrageous. We won't be going there any time soon.

Although hidden in the residential area, it was still found. Finally German cuisine that is freshly prepared again. Food was very good and served in a reasonable time. Would come back at any time and try out what the many other dishes have to offer. Selection according to the menu was very good.

I always order from the potato stube in lütten klein and have been there for over 10 years and every time I order everything is perfect, the kitchen works with heart and is very clean, my children and my wife always taste it, and the nice woman on the phone takes our order with kindness, thank you to all the employees and greetings who work in the kitchen, just great.

Simply great! The food in the potato parlor is really excellent. Everything tastes fresh and you can tell that it is cooked with a lot of love and quality. I am particularly impressed by the authentic preparation of the dishes. The service is friendly and attentive. I will definitely come more often and can only recommend it to everyone!

When I saw the photos of the restaurant, I thought: “Well, let’s take a look, let’s try it.” My God, how pictures can be deceiving! The food is super good, the chef knows his craft. The potatoes are really good. The waitress is an expert and knows what she is doing – well served and friendly. The prices are great, really worth an insider tip. Was there on Monday evening with a colleague. Lucky to get a table.

Whenever I'm with my mother in Rostock we eat here. It's cozy, a great selection of dishes, good portions, no matter what you order tastes delicious and lovely, friendly staff. Plus it's cheap. I can only recommend it. Always happy.

Nice little cozy restaurant with a large selection of dishes. There was very little going on and the food got there quickly. There were five of us and we all enjoyed it. The price-performance ratio is great. Definitely a great insider tip when you're in Rostock.

Went spontaneously to eat. The restaurant was well filled but the staff was very nice and showed us a table outside, which is what we wanted. Good selection of dishes, well prepared, super nice, everything is served to your complete satisfaction. Thank you, we'll be happy to come back

We discovered the potato stube about 6 years ago when we were on vacation in Warnemünde. Whenever we are nearby (Kühlungsborn or Warnemünde) we always enjoy going out to eat.

Nice atmosphere, with seating outside when the weather is nice. It is definitely advisable to make a reservation, otherwise things can get tight The staff is very friendly, the drink order was carried out quickly and the times between ordering and until the food was on the table were fine. All three dishes arrived hot at the same time. Everything was quite tasty, we would love to stop by again on our next vacation.

I wouldn't have thought that there would be such good, affordable cuisine in the middle of Lütten Klein. It's really worth checking out... It tastes fantastic!

Really very tasty food. The staff is very nice and quick and attentive. It is better to reserve seats in advance. It's always very well attended.

We were there with 8 people. We had to wait a good 20 minutes until someone came to bring us the card. No, it wasn't full. Maybe 4 more tables occupied that were already served. The food was really tasty and it was hot and not as lukewarm as you would find in some other restaurants. The price was okay too. I'll definitely go there again.

Cozy, comparatively cheap food, traditional, hearty dishes. We were there on Friday around 6:00 p.m. At the time, reservations were necessary due to its popularity. Alternatively, you can also take the food away from home. We had six different dishes and everyone was satisfied. You are not in a touristy part of town, but you experience an authentic, very friendly environment and great food. We were there for the first time and would love to come back! The tram is only 100m away. You can get there directly in 40 minutes with line 5.

We had dinner in the potato stube last night for our wedding anniversary. Our table was beautifully set and the service was super nice and it was very quick to get our order, even though it was very busy. The food was very good and freshly prepared. We'd love to come back.

Ambiance isn't everything. On the one hand, you come in and "get placed", it's 2024! Then you wait almost an hour for a simple schnitzel. Because the two ladies are more concerned with family matters than with their guests. If you know it's taking so long you could have said something. Other guests who came later got their food much quicker. Then the food comes and is half burnt. The potato parlor used to be a different place. We had our last visit there, which was a shame. Because we actually always liked being here.

Very tasty food in a good atmosphere and great service. I had a potato broccoli casserole with extra scrambled eggs in it and was completely satisfied. The food was freshly prepared and cooked in the oven and was served fully cooked and hot. The taste is simply great. The price is a little higher than usual, but you're happy to pay that here. Gladly again and highly recommended.
