Today we had a children's dish of schnitzel/fries/mixed vegetables 👍 and roast pork with dumplings. Both very tasty. As a drink there was a dark Wildsau, very drinkable and tasty. There was also a top-notch service and the price-performance ratio for today's times is also perfectly fine. I would say 5 stars.

Despite months of advance notice for an 85th birthday with 24 people, the table was not ceremoniously prepared. The wrong cards were on display, the service was more than slow and sometimes only when requested, the food came after over 2 hours and was not warm. Even after a criticism by email, there was no response - it's a shame!!!

Perfect, just perfect! From the food to the service to the ambience, everything was right. The food was very tasty and the waitress kept asking if everything was OK. Unfortunately I don't have a name, otherwise he could get a big compliment from his boss (the laid-back guy with glasses 😉). Everything was just right in terms of timing: ordered and after 5 to 10 minutes the first course was there. So all in all, thank you very much for the nice and rich hospitality – we will definitely be back.

The staff was very nice! I didn't like the food! I had zander. The fish tasted sweet, the fried potatoes were partly black. The salad came with a mustard dressing, which unfortunately wasn't my thing. There could also be more of a selection of drinks for women.

The service actually didn't deserve a star. Went there in a group and were served reluctantly. Some requests were simply ignored. The eviction 1/2 hour before closing time was record-breaking. I've never felt so unwelcome, even though each of us left around €80-100 in this restaurant.

The atmosphere is great and after that a lot of things slip away. Service annoyed, no orders taken, responsibility for the table apparently also unclear. Waiting time for our food was almost 2 hours. The reason was that we had starters and the children had already eaten their food and their plates hadn't been eaten yet. Therefore the waitress had not yet called for our main courses. Food then partially burned, floating in fat and cold. The background to our visit was my father's 60th birthday with 13 guests registered, including 4 children (there was no way to prepare the table for a birthday). Note: It's been a while since my birthday and I hope this isn't a permanent occurrence there.

I would very much like to give five stars in every category, but unfortunately this can only be done in a negative sense. I can't comment on the food because it didn't come with the meal. Sequentially. After visiting the zoo with our three grandchildren, we wanted to finish off with an ice cream sundae and maybe something else to eat. Since I am dependent on a wheelchair, some requirements are also necessary. These are already present in the building itself, but the outside area leaves a lot to be desired. Everything wouldn't be so tragic and a solution could probably have been found if it weren't for the extremely "friendly and motivated operating staff". The access to the main entrance of the restaurant is very steep for a wheelchair, so that it cannot be accessed without help. The terrace is also taboo for wheelchair users due to an approx. 20cm heel. All that remains is the beer garden in the outdoor area, which unfortunately also represents an insurmountable or passable obstacle for wheelchair users due to the gravel used as a floor covering. In front of the steep staircase to the entrance, beer garden furniture was set up in the open area and we were told that these could also be used as places with service. After a visit to the toilet (with help), we came back outside through the main entrance past three waiters chatting and then wanted to use these seats. Unfortunately we waited in vain for the “stressed and completely breathless wait staff”. When asked from the given distance, not one of the three waiters made an effort to explain the situation to us in a friendly and calm manner and offer a solution, no, we were loudly and very unfriendly "told" that there was no service there due to a lack of staff becomes. My wife and grandchildren were already leaving, they said that there was no need to put up with so much unfriendliness and unwillingness and that other places might be more interested in us as paying guests. Personally, I wanted to discuss the situation with a boss. Since I couldn't make my way to the entrance and the three chatting waiters on my own because of the incline, I tried to make myself heard a little loudly because of the distance (ask for a boss). Unfortunately, I was left standing like a stupid little boy and without any reaction from the waiter. After further attempts to draw attention to me, the waiter, whom I personally called for a boss, then tried to explain the situation to me again, not like a physically disabled person but like a mentally disabled person. I asked why he didn't respond to my call, he replied "I don't respond to screaming". He would neither have heard nor understood normal speech during the distance. I realized that a solution that would have been fair to both sides was not desired and I turned to leave the location. The restaurant has a very appealing ambience, and if you could say the same about the staff or employees, they would probably be unbearable with their hospitality. My thought then is "Awkward guests not wanted because of wealth" and I have decided not to visit the restaurant anymore, neither alone nor with my guests. It's certainly not worth recommending. Maybe that will change someday, but there is a great need for action on the part of staff.

Funeral coffee with good cake but unfortunately cheap sandwiches. Unfortunately, the lettuce on the rolls was still sandy and crunchy, at least a little butter would have made the baked rolls a bit tasty... What a shame!

The wheat beer (Frechdachs) is one of the best I have ever drunk. The food has lost quality lately. The roast pork has improved a lot since my last review and is really recommended.

We were visiting the zoo and sat outside under tall, shady trees. The location itself is great and the home-brewed dark beer tastes very tasty. However, there was a problem with the service. The service took a long time and instead of 2 liver cheese with fried potatoes there was only fried potatoes with fried eggs. The portion was so manageable that after 5 spoonfuls the potatoes were gone, but potatoes are not the cost factor when eating, are they? The meatloaf was served later, but the food was already cold or eaten. The children's portion was schnitzel and pasta with tomato sauce. These portions were almost larger than the adult portions. The food for the kids was okay, including the price. But we found 14.90 euros for 2 slices of meatloaf with 5 spoons of fried potatoes to be generous. For the first time, we actually didn't give a tip, which we usually treat very generously. A small goodie or something similar was not offered, even though we communicated our dissatisfaction to the service. Addition: after contacting us via email, a voucher was sent that can be redeemed on the next visit. That went really quickly and we say “Thank you!”. I have adjusted my rating accordingly. We are sitting in the beer garden in front of the restaurant. The last places in the sun. We are consistently ignored by the waiter. When asked, the beer garden in front of the restaurant was not open. So we had to get our own beer. On the way to the toilet we asked a waiter if he would make us potato wedges and bring them to our table. I would also pay a tip. Can not. It is not possible to take three more steps to an area that is part of the restaurant and is not blocked off. I'm disappointed. Corona probably wasn't bad enough. Apparently you don't need service

The Trotsenburg Forsthausbrauerei is more than just an insider tip. Waiters who like their job and have fun doing it, every meal is recommended and is brought out very quickly but still freshly prepared. The price-performance ratio is right. I will visit you very often and recommend you to others

So make a reservation for 2 people or know an alternative.

The food and drinks were great as always (even if the Aperol was a bit carelessly presented). My point of criticism is the sanitary facilities. There could be more cleanliness there. The pools of urine in front of the urinals spoke volumes. Unfortunately nothing has changed for years. Please be more hygienic and you will get full points!

The food is great and the ambience is too, but what good is it if more employees come across as snippy and cheeky towards the customers. We were probably very unlucky that everything was fully booked by football fans and we arrived when it was almost empty again and the service staff had probably been stressed for hours and had to put up with a lot..... but we had nothing to do with football do and cannot be perceived as a burden afterwards. I'll be honest and say that everyone really enjoyed the food, but that's no use if you don't feel welcome. What we also don't understand: Ice cream for dessert wasn't a problem, but cake was. There was and cake beautifully presented, but and was it said that the boss doesn't give permission to go out with cake in the evening? We don't know if the staff is playing a trick on us or if this is really the case? It would be nice if the management could comment on why one of us wanted cake and it was there, but it is no longer allowed to be sold in the evening? Of course there will also be an email to management with clarification, but would it be interesting to know if others had already had the same experience on site?

All in all it was a lovely evening. Food tastes good, beer tastes good, service is quick and attentive. What more do you want. Sometimes it's a bit loud, but that's part of drinking beer.

Die Trotzenburg war ein mal Rostocks bester Biergarten mit tollem Essen und super Service. Leider lässt der Service immer mehr zu wünschen übrig. Da wir unmittelbar in der Nähe der Trotzenburg wohnen waren wir immer regelmäßig und gerne hier. Aber bei den letzten 2 Besuchen wurden wir nicht mal mehr bedient. Das selbst gebraute Bier ist immer noch das Beste in Rostock und es wäre schön wenn der Service das Niveau des Bieres wieder erreichen würde.

Beer tastes spicy. Service is quick and the food was good. The Forstbrauhaus left me with a good impression. It's just a shame that they didn't want to fill the beer siphon I had brought with me, which is certainly possible in other breweries.

The last truly authentic pub (inn) that still exists in and around Rostock. The food is excellent and the service is always very familiar and friendly to the guest. The knuckle is of course a must and the right beer to go with it... Delicious!

It was very nice. Only the waiter was a bit overwhelmed/annoyed, but if you accept a group of 20 people you should still remain friendly. The ladies were super nice and the food was delicious.

Actually, I always liked to go into defiance. But on my last visit, it was very disappointing. The food was good, but unfortunately the waiter was sometimes unfriendly. I was the first to place my order, including an appetizer. It was then made clear to me in a very unfriendly and decisive manner that if I wanted a starter, everyone else would have to wait 1.5 hours for the main course. Ummm... He couldn't even know if I was the only one who wanted an appetizer or maybe even everyone. I then withdrew my starter order and so did the entire table. If you don't want the money then please... Without words. P.S. The asparagus isn't worth it. For 4 asparagus spears, way too overpriced.

Thanks for nothing. Was with you today, April 20th, 2024.... Yes, lunchtime...around 12:15 p.m. Apparently there are still a lot of tables available without a reservation sign...10 to 15 in any case. Neither my wife nor I saw a sign “You will be placed” at the entrance. Out of politeness, we asked the staff anyway...and were offered the absolute worst seat out of the many free tables. Direct through traffic in all directions. When asked.....no.....that or none. We declined and then had a delicious meal at the BLOCK HOUSE in town.... Who does not want it, already has it. So thank you anyway that we were able to eat well in another restaurant. Best regards.... T

Very nice, cozy restaurant, natural, just the way I like it. There is a great outdoor area with a terrace and beer garden. Unfortunately it was too cold for that. The food was very good, as was the beer. That's what I expected from a brewery. I wasn't disappointed. Despite the restaurant being busy, the staff was very friendly and everything went smoothly and quickly. It was my first time there, but definitely not the last time. Highly Recommended. Bad-tempered, overwhelmed staff. In the men's toilets, 3 out of 4 toilet seats are defective and therefore dangerous for the customer. The floor and walls in the toilet stalls were sticky and unclean. The beer was very tasty. If you drink enough of it, the other things might not bother you so much. For the level of service offered, parts of the menu feel far too expensive. Unfortunately again overall disappointing.
