It's a very nice restaurant. Opportunities for large and small separate gatherings. When the weather is nice there is also a beer garden. The Rostock Zoo right next to it. The restaurant serves home-brewed beer. Events are also offered. Is worth a trip.

Really good food, delicious beers. We still got a seat without a reservation and were always taken into consideration. I really liked it!

The food, drinks and ambience are great! But catastrophic service. Annoyed staff, rude to the customer who, as a guest, pays the money for the staff. Free tables will be held back and not marked as reserved. The employees then send paying guests away again... The choice of words plays a big role and if you can't cope with the business, it's better to keep it closed on such stressful days. The tables that were “reserved” were empty during our stay in the restaurant. Then it is usual that you can wait around 20-40 minutes for the employees. After 50 minutes the same lady took our order. The drinks came quickly, but the food took longer. Since we had a view of the kitchen serving area, we could see exactly how long our food had been sitting at the counter. There were the annoyed staff or employees again. I would like to point out again that not all employees in this restaurant are like that. Only in the rear area (sort of winter garden) at the exit to the park.

Changes yes but soooo??? A few years ago the restaurants were much more imaginative, today I was disappointed because there was really a lot of new/strange things, the previous reservation via the homepage was still to be praised, a confirmation and assignment to a special table was great and quick, BUT on site Children's meals were greatly reduced compared to before, the popular "Bärchenschnitzel" was replaced by a pork schnitzel and was super difficult to cut, the rubber shoe^,^ not recommended. The sheet of the children's card was positive on the back, at least something to color in, great idea. In general, I find the menus to be very limited and unfortunately not filled with chicken. Then it should have been stylish when the Black Forest ice cream sundae we ordered arrived, in a beer glass!!! WHAT'S GOING ON THERE?! So, even though it's a brewery, it didn't seem nice or creative at all. On the positive side, the play area for kids is great. Unfortunately, the toilets were also mediocre, clean, yes, loose toilet seat and empty soap... All in all, the visit was rather a disappointment for me as a brewery fan from the past. Hopefully things will get better again.

Trotsenburger top dog and wild pig changed my life.

The portions are really enormous! The ribs were so big that I couldn't even handle them on my own - and that's saying something since I'm a good eater. Everything was extremely tasty, and the home-brewed beer was simply delicious and refreshing. I will definitely stop by again on my next visit to Rostock!

I give full marks to the Forsthausbrauerei Trotzenburg. The food (I had the pork roast with Bavarian cabbage and potato dumplings) was simply delicious and the most important thing: the beer (the special beer was the delicious Pale Ale ❤️) also impressed me completely. Be sure to stop by when you are in Rostock.

Food was solid, beer was great – but beware, you come back with a cleaned deposit bottle! I just wanted to hand over my empty bottles and suddenly felt like a criminal on the run. 'Deposit? Not with us!' it said. Instead of a return there was only a dirty look, as if I had asked if the master brewer was secretly brewing Kölsch! So, delicious food and good beer, but better keep your bottles forever... #bottledrama

We were here for lunch today and were bitterly disappointed. Unfortunately, the service staff wasn't very friendly right from the start. We ordered the Brauhausschnitzel and a Hamburger Schnitzel with mashed potatoes on the side. Plus drinks. When the food came, I only had a quarter of my drink left and was not asked if I would like to order anything else. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes were so salty that I had to return them. The staff then tasted it and confirmed that it was indeed too salty. Now I couldn't get any new mashed potatoes, I was only given a choice of dumplings, fries or fried potatoes. I had to take the fries, but I didn't like them at all. So I only ate the schnitzel and the salad. None of the service staff came to us again and asked if we would like something to drink; our drinks were now empty. Someone came to clear away the food and didn't ask for drinks or dessert. We almost never don't leave a tip, but this time we only paid to the cent and were out of the restaurant after just under 50 minutes. It's a shame and definitely the last visit to the Trotsenburg for us

We have been regular customers in the Trotsenburg for many years. Many a family celebration was celebrated here. Whether in the beer garden or in the restaurant, the great service, the delicious beer and the tasty food are a guarantee that we come by at least once a month. Exorbitantly large area. There are countless spaces inside, even on two floors. Just as many outside in two beer gardens. A large parking lot still fills up quickly. Very tasty home-made beer goes well with the hearty cuisine.

We were here for the second time in several years. Unfortunately nothing has changed: my son had the ribs; According to the menu only with fries and sauce. He received a plate half filled with salad. The dressing poured over the entire plate and completely soaked the fries. Everything was swimming in the mustard dressing of the salad. In addition to the fact that my son doesn't eat salad at all, it could have easily been served in a separate bowl. We tried to save what could be saved. The criticism towards the waiter proved the narrow-mindedness of this restaurant! The succinct answer was: “That’s just how we do it!” When I remarked that nobody likes fries soaked in dressing (me neither, by the way; my plate looked exactly the same!), Keller just shrugged his shoulders and said that if it had tasted so good, what would I have to criticize! I have never been treated so ignorantly as a customer in a restaurant!! Tasty beer or not: no one will see us here again!!

Very popular, well-kept restaurant where we, as neighbors, have enjoyed spending the evening with our guests on various occasions for years. Last night, the repeatedly overworked male waiter outside was so annoyed that shortly before we ordered the food, after an exchange of words at the table, he didn't take our order. He went… So we looked for another nearby restaurant with our guests. What a shame?! Embarrassing, annoying...

Dude, the toilets smell like piss... that's bodily harm... Your addendum is a lie. I've had 5 or 6 of them with them and it always smelled so bad.

The service is great, as is the ambience and so is the beer. We had the impression that the schnitzels and fried potatoes were convenience products. Unfortunately, they were not convincing in terms of taste. We would have happily spent a few euros more for a fresh handcrafted schnitzel.

We wanted to eat in this restaurant 2 days ago and were about to sit down at a table in the beer garden. Then an employee rushed towards us and asked in an extremely rude manner: "Why do you think the chairs are moved?" Our answer: "There are no chairs here." Employee: "He's standing in line (and pointed to a chair) and there's no card here and there's no service there." A couple at the next table were shouted at. I had memories of the restaurant industry before 1989, of signs saying “You will be seated.” Honnecker was probably right when he said “overtake without hollowing out”. If you treat the staff like you treat the guests, you shouldn't be surprised if they leave. We would of course like to apologize for having bothered your staff. Won't happen again. There are restaurants where you can also be a guest.

Despite months of advance notice for an 85th birthday with 24 people, the table was not ceremoniously prepared. The wrong cards were on display, the service was more than slow and sometimes only when requested, the food came after over 2 hours and was not warm. Even after a criticism by email, there was no response - it's a shame!!!

Perfect, just perfect! From the food to the service to the ambience, everything was right. The food was very tasty and the waitress kept asking if everything was OK. Unfortunately I don't have a name, otherwise he could get a big compliment from his boss (the laid-back guy with glasses 😉). Everything was just right in terms of timing: ordered and after 5 to 10 minutes the first course was there. So all in all, thank you very much for the nice and rich hospitality – we will definitely be back.

The staff was very nice! I didn't like the food! I had zander. The fish tasted sweet, the fried potatoes were partly black. The salad came with a mustard dressing, which unfortunately wasn't my thing. There could also be more of a selection of drinks for women.

The service actually didn't deserve a star. Went there in a group and were served reluctantly. Some requests were simply ignored. The eviction 1/2 hour before closing time was record-breaking. I've never felt so unwelcome, even though each of us left around €80-100 in this restaurant.

The atmosphere is great and after that a lot of things slip away. Service annoyed, no orders taken, responsibility for the table apparently also unclear. Waiting time for our food was almost 2 hours. The reason was that we had starters and the children had already eaten their food and their plates hadn't been eaten yet. Therefore the waitress had not yet called for our main courses. Food then partially burned, floating in fat and cold. The background to our visit was my father's 60th birthday with 13 guests registered, including 4 children (there was no way to prepare the table for a birthday). Note: It's been a while since my birthday and I hope this isn't a permanent occurrence there.

I would very much like to give five stars in every category, but unfortunately this can only be done in a negative sense. I can't comment on the food because it didn't come with the meal. Sequentially. After visiting the zoo with our three grandchildren, we wanted to finish off with an ice cream sundae and maybe something else to eat. Since I am dependent on a wheelchair, some requirements are also necessary. These are already present in the building itself, but the outside area leaves a lot to be desired. Everything wouldn't be so tragic and a solution could probably have been found if it weren't for the extremely "friendly and motivated operating staff". The access to the main entrance of the restaurant is very steep for a wheelchair, so that it cannot be accessed without help. The terrace is also taboo for wheelchair users due to an approx. 20cm heel. All that remains is the beer garden in the outdoor area, which unfortunately also represents an insurmountable or passable obstacle for wheelchair users due to the gravel used as a floor covering. In front of the steep staircase to the entrance, beer garden furniture was set up in the open area and we were told that these could also be used as places with service. After a visit to the toilet (with help), we came back outside through the main entrance past three waiters chatting and then wanted to use these seats. Unfortunately we waited in vain for the “stressed and completely breathless wait staff”. When asked from the given distance, not one of the three waiters made an effort to explain the situation to us in a friendly and calm manner and offer a solution, no, we were loudly and very unfriendly "told" that there was no service there due to a lack of staff becomes. My wife and grandchildren were already leaving, they said that there was no need to put up with so much unfriendliness and unwillingness and that other places might be more interested in us as paying guests. Personally, I wanted to discuss the situation with a boss. Since I couldn't make my way to the entrance and the three chatting waiters on my own because of the incline, I tried to make myself heard a little loudly because of the distance (ask for a boss). Unfortunately, I was left standing like a stupid little boy and without any reaction from the waiter. After further attempts to draw attention to me, the waiter, whom I personally called for a boss, then tried to explain the situation to me again, not like a physically disabled person but like a mentally disabled person. I asked why he didn't respond to my call, he replied "I don't respond to screaming". He would neither have heard nor understood normal speech during the distance. I realized that a solution that would have been fair to both sides was not desired and I turned to leave the location. The restaurant has a very appealing ambience, and if you could say the same about the staff or employees, they would probably be unbearable with their hospitality. My thought then is "Awkward guests not wanted because of wealth" and I have decided not to visit the restaurant anymore, neither alone nor with my guests. It's certainly not worth recommending. Maybe that will change someday, but there is a great need for action on the part of staff.

Funeral coffee with good cake but unfortunately cheap sandwiches. Unfortunately, the lettuce on the rolls was still sandy and crunchy, at least a little butter would have made the baked rolls a bit tasty... What a shame!

The wheat beer (Frechdachs) is one of the best I have ever drunk. The food has lost quality lately. The roast pork has improved a lot since my last review and is really recommended.

We were visiting the zoo and sat outside under tall, shady trees. The location itself is great and the home-brewed dark beer tastes very tasty. However, there was a problem with the service. The service took a long time and instead of 2 liver cheese with fried potatoes there was only fried potatoes with fried eggs. The portion was so manageable that after 5 spoonfuls the potatoes were gone, but potatoes are not the cost factor when eating, are they? The meatloaf was served later, but the food was already cold or eaten. The children's portion was schnitzel and pasta with tomato sauce. These portions were almost larger than the adult portions. The food for the kids was okay, including the price. But we found 14.90 euros for 2 slices of meatloaf with 5 spoons of fried potatoes to be generous. For the first time, we actually didn't give a tip, which we usually treat very generously. A small goodie or something similar was not offered, even though we communicated our dissatisfaction to the service. Addition: after contacting us via email, a voucher was sent that can be redeemed on the next visit. That went really quickly and we say “Thank you!”. I have adjusted my rating accordingly. We are sitting in the beer garden in front of the restaurant. The last places in the sun. We are consistently ignored by the waiter. When asked, the beer garden in front of the restaurant was not open. So we had to get our own beer. The Trotsenburg Forsthausbrauerei is more than just an insider tip. Waiters who like their job and have fun doing it, every meal is recommended and is brought out very quickly but still freshly prepared. The price-performance ratio is right. I will visit you very often and recommend you to others

The food always mades Fresh, and the beer is chilled and gives you freshness in hot summer . During the rush time, you probably have to book a table. I must recommend you to visit these place! ❤️❤️🔥

The food and drinks were great as always (even if the Aperol was a bit carelessly presented). My point of criticism is the sanitary facilities. There could be more cleanliness there. The pools of urine in front of the urinals spoke volumes. Unfortunately nothing has changed for years. Please be more hygienic and you will get full points!

The food is great and the ambience is too, but what good is it if more employees come across as snippy and cheeky towards the customers. We were probably very unlucky that everything was fully booked by football fans and we arrived when it was almost empty again and the service staff had probably been stressed for hours and had to put up with a lot..... but we had nothing to do with football do and cannot be perceived as a burden afterwards. I'll be honest and say that everyone really enjoyed the food, but that's no use if you don't feel welcome. What we also don't understand: Ice cream for dessert wasn't a problem, but cake was. There was and cake beautifully presented, but and was it said that the boss doesn't give permission to go out with cake in the evening? We don't know if the staff is playing a trick on us or if this is really the case? It would be nice if the management could comment on why one of us wanted cake and it was there, but it is no longer allowed to be sold in the evening? Of course there will also be an email to management with clarification, but would it be interesting to know if others had already had the same experience on site?

All in all it was a lovely evening. Food tastes good, beer tastes good, service is quick and attentive. What more do you want. Sometimes it's a bit loud, but that's part of drinking beer.
