Kartoffelkönig (vegan Döner und Kumpir) in München

We (2 people) first shared a plate of falafel; it was quite good, but I still had a bit of a hole in my stomach. 😉 So I ordered another seitan durum, thinking it was a lot for the money. Because I started raving about it, I had to share again... 🥴 What can I say, it was just so delicious that we ate another one! 😎😇 Last but not least, we were given two baklavas for dessert. Wow, they were absolutely delicious too! Of course, we filled the tip bank and rolled to the train station... 😅

I came all the way from Argentina to have a beer in Munich and eat here. It didn't disappoint at all. We ordered Kumpir Royal with three dips (6 euros) and Falafel Teller (12 euros). Both dishes were super filling and vegan. If I lived in Munich, I'd be a regular here.

Super delicious kumpir for a budget. You can choose your own side dishes, and the portions are huge. The owner is very welcoming and gave me a free baklava. The location doesn't exactly invite you to linger for long (it's a snack bar, after all), but that doesn't detract from the overall experience.

The food is okay; it was hard to appreciate it after being so harshly mistreated by the attendant. I was visiting a friend in Munich; I don't live there and I don't speak German. I tried my best to say the names of the dishes, but the man behind the counter didn't understand me and neither tried to. He asked another customer to "understand" what I was saying. After ordering, he kept looking at me with contempt. I wanted to try more things here, but I didn't want to give them any more money. Do not recommend. Not tourist-friendly.

The owner is a wonderful person, the music is great, the service is great and the taste was perfect, there are also vegan and vegetarian options, we loved the baked potato bowl, I definitely recommend it.

This is a Jewel in Maxvorstadt for all people who wants to eat good and fast. The place is not to stay long but offers the best service with good quality ingredients (made all by themselves) and pretty fast. I'm going often as first option because I know it will be always as I'm describing.

The Kumpir is truly excellent! Almost all the sauces are homemade, and the portions are huge – for €8, I was truly full, which rarely happens. So, unbeatable value for money. Two things to note: card payments aren't accepted, and service might be a bit faster during peak times. Still, a definite recommendation – absolutely delicious and worth it!

I was just passing through Munich, but I still couldn't resist trying the vegan seitan doner, and I was absolutely not disappointed. It was the best vegan doner I've ever had. The vegetable selection was huge, the ingredients were incredibly fresh, and the seitan was perfectly seasoned. The staff was super warm and friendly; I immediately felt at home. I would recommend everyone to stop there for a bite!! :)

The best place I've ever eaten at. I'm especially a huge fan of the seitan; it's absolutely worth it. I recommend everyone go there! And the value for money can't be beat!

The best 100% vegetarian/vegan kebab shop in town. The owner is very customer-oriented and accommodating. They offer falafel and seitan kebabs, as well as a variety of spreads, including avocado, baked potato, baklava, Fritz-Kola/Bionade, and much more. You can sit inside or outside. Cash only. A digital stamp card is available in the "Stämps" app (meaning every 11th dish is free).

Very tasty food at very fair prices. The owner seems a bit annoyed at times, but that's probably due to the large lunchtime crowds.

The food is very good. I can recommend it even for someone who eats everything! It might not be 100% comparable to a doner kebab, but as a product in its own right, it's truly highly recommended! You should at least try it to broaden your horizons! ;)

Quite simply, a con artist who only sells vegetables for two pieces of meat that duel. A price swindler who slaps customers with his head, who doesn't match the posted price under the pretext that the prices only apply to students. A big joke.

We wanted advice and to find out what the sauces were. We were then yelled at and insulted. He was very annoyed that we didn't immediately know what we wanted. We were the only ones in line, so we left.

I can particularly recommend the Seitan Sandwich. All dishes are vegetarian or vegan. Instead of kebab bread, there is a baked potato with seasoned and fried seitan, salad, sauce and three toppings of your choice. There are many different antipasti and salads to choose from. The portions are large and the food tastes great.

We (3 people) were at the Potato King today and left traumatized. The employee is very unfriendly. Just because we decided against ordering after the "consultation" she showed her even more unfriendly face. My friend had hastily said that she would take the Kumpir Royal and the lady took the mini potato out of the oven and we said that we didn't want it and she wanted to force us to pay. It doesn't work at all! Was the 1st and last time we were there. I don't recommend it to anyone. LG

We have been regular guests for over 3 years and the positive review is definitely due! We love coming here so much, the owner is so nice, buys everything fresh (there are a lot more than just the classic kebab ingredients, e.g. papaya), prepares the food lovingly and we always feel welcome. The vegan kebab was very tasty. The Seitan was softer and not as hard as you would normally expect from Seitan. Interesting kebab idea to integrate avocado and hummus. The order was quick and uncomplicated. The shop is small, but functional. There are a few seats at the back of the store.

We went to the Potato King in the city center today and were totally disappointed. The zucchini vegetables in the display case were moldy and definitely no longer fresh. As always, there were no onions and the EC payment has been “broken” for over a year, the cash register is open as always. Due to the moldy vegetables, this was definitely our last visit today. It's a shame that it's not as clean as in Riem.

After being there 3-4 times and being served by very friendly ladies each time, today I had an unpleasant encounter with an aggressive and rude man who was probably in his 40s or 50s. From the moment two customers walked into the store, he seemed more disappointed than happy that they could bring some extra money into the store. I ordered a seitan sandwich and he asked me to choose. I said politely, “Avocado and lentils, please.” He then rudely said, “You can’t add lentils.” I politely replied that I would be happy to pay extra for it because I wanted it with lentils. He said "Okay" and went to the salad bar where he started putting lettuce on the sandwich. I tried to stop him and said, "No salad please, can I choose the ones I like from the ingredients here?" He said aggressively, "Not usually, you can't choose from everything here. But oh well.” I repeated, “I would like to choose the options that I can/like to eat. If that doesn’t work, please don’t make the sandwich.” He then started yelling and said, "You can't just come here and tell me how you want your sandwich." I said again that I was the customer and therefore should have the freedom to choose what I put in my sandwich like any other business in the world. In the end the Lord yelled at me and said, “Are you kidding me? Get out of my shop, go away!” Such a terrible experience, especially from an older man who runs a business off his customers' money and is sad and grumpy as soon as you walk into the store. I don't understand the logic of customers paying and ordering based on their preferences/allergies and then being treated so miserably. I wouldn't recommend eating there if you see him. Otherwise, the food is very tasty, and it tastes better when served by the friendly ladies who work there, smile, are friendly and respect the wishes of the customers.

Simply the best seitan in town.

Mostly vegan food is offered, but unfortunately there are also some vegetarian animal cruelty options. The vegan food tastes very tasty. I never thought that I would like the kumpir (potato) more than a kebab, but after trying the potato for the first time, my preference here is as follows: Seitankumpir>Seitandürüm>Side kebab. It's not for nothing that the shop is called the Potato King. The price-performance ratio is great.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time I'm in Munich I come by here! I recommend “Kumpir with Seitan – three toppings with Seitan and sauce”. When it came to toppings, I got advice from the boss himself and was recommended a green, white and red dip mix! Hmmm delicious, that tastes good!

First day in Munich center and extremely hungry. I saw it had vegan food but I didn't know they didn't accept card. I didn't have any cash but they still let me get my Kumpir and pay another time! The food is very tasty with lots of options and quite cheap given the amount of food you get! Glad I found this place!

Disgusting. The worker was so rude and his hands were so dirty and his fingertips were black, but he was picking out food with them. No gloves. He was so rude when I asked him to remake it. He said fine then leave. The owner was there and didn’t care. It was filthy! We traveled 30 minutes and we found better places nearby.

Probably one of the best places for healthy fast food in the area. The Kumpir comes with salad and three toppings of your choice (e.g. grilled veggies, guacamole, beans, red cabbage). You can also get a larger menu with 6 toppings which is very filling. Seitan sandwiches are available too as well as other snacks.

The falafel doner was very tasty, although too “juicy” for my taste. The vegetables are nice and fresh and there is a good selection. However, the store could be a bit cleaner and the seating area is a bit ugly.
