Kartoffelkönig (vegan Döner und Kumpir) in München

We went to the Potato King in the city center today and were totally disappointed. The zucchini vegetables in the display case were moldy and definitely no longer fresh. As always, there were no onions and the EC payment has been “broken” for over a year, the cash register is open as always. Due to the moldy vegetables, this was definitely our last visit today. It's a shame that it's not as clean as in Riem.

After being there 3-4 times and being served by very friendly ladies each time, today I had an unpleasant encounter with an aggressive and rude man who was probably in his 40s or 50s. From the moment two customers walked into the store, he seemed more disappointed than happy that they could bring some extra money into the store. I ordered a seitan sandwich and he asked me to choose. I said politely, “Avocado and lentils, please.” He then rudely said, “You can’t add lentils.” I politely replied that I would be happy to pay extra for it because I wanted it with lentils. He said "Okay" and went to the salad bar where he started putting lettuce on the sandwich. I tried to stop him and said, "No salad please, can I choose the ones I like from the ingredients here?" He said aggressively, "Not usually, you can't choose from everything here. But oh well.” I repeated, “I would like to choose the options that I can/like to eat. If that doesn’t work, please don’t make the sandwich.” He then started yelling and said, "You can't just come here and tell me how you want your sandwich." I said again that I was the customer and therefore should have the freedom to choose what I put in my sandwich like any other business in the world. In the end the Lord yelled at me and said, “Are you kidding me? Get out of my shop, go away!” Such a terrible experience, especially from an older man who runs a business off his customers' money and is sad and grumpy as soon as you walk into the store. I don't understand the logic of customers paying and ordering based on their preferences/allergies and then being treated so miserably. I wouldn't recommend eating there if you see him. Otherwise, the food is very tasty, and it tastes better when served by the friendly ladies who work there, smile, are friendly and respect the wishes of the customers.

Simply the best seitan in town.

Mostly vegan food is offered, but unfortunately there are also some vegetarian animal cruelty options. The vegan food tastes very tasty. I never thought that I would like the kumpir (potato) more than a kebab, but after trying the potato for the first time, my preference here is as follows: Seitankumpir>Seitandürüm>Side kebab. It's not for nothing that the shop is called the Potato King. The price-performance ratio is great.

Definitely one of the best food spots in Munich. Extremely delicious. Very fresh ingredients. Friendly staff. Very inexpensive for the good location. Highly recommended.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants. Every time I'm in Munich I come by here! I recommend “Kumpir with Seitan – three toppings with Seitan and sauce”. When it came to toppings, I got advice from the boss himself and was recommended a green, white and red dip mix! Hmmm delicious, that tastes good!

Guys, I'm driving across town to get something to eat and check online to see if you're open. Park the car, get a parking ticket only to find out that you're closed. That's really weak!

First day in Munich center and extremely hungry. I saw it had vegan food but I didn't know they didn't accept card. I didn't have any cash but they still let me get my Kumpir and pay another time! The food is very tasty with lots of options and quite cheap given the amount of food you get! Glad I found this place!

I ate a Saitan plate yesterday and was thrilled. The portion was huge, very tasty and topped with so many different side dishes and dips. I can only recommend.

Absolute favorite kebab place! 😌✨ My boyfriend and I are here every weekend when we are both in Munich. The food is so good and obviously fresh and high quality and lovingly prepared! The best (vegan) kebab I know!! There is also Kumpir but we are addicted to the kebab! 🤤

Disgusting. The worker was so rude and his hands were so dirty and his fingertips were black, but he was picking out food with them. No gloves. He was so rude when I asked him to remake it. He said fine then leave. The owner was there and didn’t care. It was filthy! We traveled 30 minutes and we found better places nearby.

Probably one of the best places for healthy fast food in the area. The Kumpir comes with salad and three toppings of your choice (e.g. grilled veggies, guacamole, beans, red cabbage). You can also get a larger menu with 6 toppings which is very filling. Seitan sandwiches are available too as well as other snacks.

The falafel doner was very tasty, although too “juicy” for my taste. The vegetables are nice and fresh and there is a good selection. However, the store could be a bit cleaner and the seating area is a bit ugly.

We ate a Saitan dürüm for the first time (since we are currently trying to eat a vegan diet for 2 months) and it was simply very tasty (at least as good or, to be more precise, even better than a conventional dürüm with meat). So next time we are in Munich we will try the kumpier. An absolute recommendation ☺️.

We love to have lunch there during the week - everything is delicious and affordable. The portions are very big so there’s no need to worry you’ll stay hungry. Seating is also available, but don’t expect anything special. I recommend the basil paste, the spicy feta dip and the babaganoush! Keep in mind that the place is cash only.

There busy with students mostly. Food is freshly made and very tasty. Portions are of a generous size. Perfect for takeaway but probably too small to accommodate all the guests. Excellent choice for vegans and vegetarians.

I'm a regular customer here. This is where you get the best Seitan in town! I like to eat the baked potato and the Seitan Dürüm the most.

Tasty food but terrible service - When I asked if I could get a dürum with seitan and falafel, I was just looked at with disgust and was told that it wasn't possible and that he didn't do that. It's not a thing in itself, but please don't do it like that. In addition, the evidence of the Dürüum was also (ironic) very interactive. I was asked whether I wanted spicy or not but otherwise nothing was asked and at that point I really didn't want to ask if I could get a few more chickpeas in. Why have a display with 20 ingredients if you can't/shouldn't choose any...

why have I not tried this place all the years I've been here? Absolute gem right next to the TUM inner-city Campus. Am a big fan of potatoes in general so this baked potato + toppings and sauce combo hits the spot for me. Warm, filling and vegetarian. Enjoyed the seitan too. Will come again.

Große Auswahl an Toppings, sonst ist die ausschließlich vegetarische/vegane Speisekarte übersichtlich aber gut. Er wirkt manchmal etwas gestresst, aber ist stets freundlich. Das Ambiente entspricht etwa dem eines Döner-Imbisses. Da ich das Essen sehr lecker finde, gibt's trotzdem 5*

Leckeres Essen und draußen eine nette Sitzgelegenheit. Die Preise sind völlig adäquat wie auch in anderen ‚Dönerbuden‘. Der einzige Minuspunkt war, das die Bedingung recht unfreundlich war.

Bester veganer Döner in der Maxvorstadt und Umgebung.

Ich habe hier den Kumpir probiert und muss leider sagen, dass er weit nicht an das rangekommen ist, was ich in Berlin lieben gelernt habe. Wie andere Läden in München abschneiden muss ich erst noch testen. Zu den anderen Gerichten kann ich nichts sagen, sah in der Auslage aber alles gut aus. Der Service war schnell und nett. Die Plätze im Restaurant sind nicht sehr einladend, man kann aber auch draußen sitzen oder zum Mitnehmen bestellen.

Sehr leckerer veganer Döner, wenn auch etwas klein. Geschmacklich sehr zu empfehlen, schade das es hier keine veganen Baklava gibt, hätte ich schon irgendwie erwartet. Würde jederzeit hier wieder einen Döner holen.

La mejor comida en München, Alemania. Es de altisima calidad y super healthy, a pesar de su muy razonable precio. El personal es super buena onda y el lugar es muy acogedor. Me salvó muchas veces de pasar hambre en la universidad. Puedo recomendarles el Kumpir Seitan con Basilikum, Feta y Guacamole. Gracias Kartoffelkönig

War heute das erste Mal beim Kartoffelkönig. Es gab Kumpir (vegan). Man bekam eine Kartoffel in zwei Hälften - dazu gab es eine Auswahl an Salat, 3 Beilagen nach Wahl und Soße nach Wahl. Nicht zu vergessen: Saitan. (Kross & kräftig im Geschmack) Ich entschied mich für Couscous, Riesen-Bohnen und Linsen als Beilage - als Soße nahm ich vegane Joghurt Soße und die pikante gelbe Soße. Die Auswahl an Beilagen ist wirklich super. Meine Freundin nahm Hummus, Guacamole und ebenso Couscous. War sehr lecker und Preis/Leistung: TOP! Nebenan ist übrigens eine UBahn Haltestelle.

It's lacking in the cleanliness department

Mein Lieblingsimbiss mit super nettem Besitzer. Mega Preis-Leistung. Mit einem Kumpir hat man ein mehr als vollwertiges Essen, es gibt unterschiedlichste leckere Saucen (z.B. Baba Ganoush, Fetadip…) und Gemüse. Auch beim Döner/Dürüm gibts neben den klassischen Inhalten noch nen leckeren Dip obendrauf. Man kann auch drinnen oder draussen sitzen.

Die Qualität der Gerichte zu solch einem fairen Preis ist konkurrenzlos. Die Zutaten sind frisch und größtenteils auch noch Bio. Mein Lieblingsladen fürs Mittagessen!

Der Seitan Dürüm ist ein Traum!

Der Imbiss ist der absolute Wahnsinn ! Kann es nur jedem ans Herz legen, hier mal vorbeigeschaut zu haben, da allein die Zutaten einfach mega frisch und köstlich sind. Es wird an nichts gespart - die Portionen sind immer überragend. Jedesmal einfach heftigst lecker und der Geschäftsinhaber super freundlich !

Ich möchte beim besten Willen nicht sagen, dass ich Stammgast bin aber ich war in letzter Zeit wieder öfter im Kartoffelkönig und das liegt genau an zwei Sachen: 1. schmeckt der vegane Seitandürüm hier unendlich gut - die Saucen sind top / der Salat ist frisch und man schmeckt wirklich alle Zutaten. 2. ist der Inhaber ein unglaublich freundlicher Mensch, bei dem ich mich im Geschäft immer sehr wohl und nie unwillkommen fühle. Zudem sind die Preise wirklich gut. Man isst im Moment gefühlt sehr selten im richtigen Verhältnis von Preis zu Menge und Qualität.

Die Aufstriche könnten mit Schild gekennzeichnet sein, sonst perfekt!

Das Essen ist sehr snackable Bin drei Mal die Woche da weil ich in der Nähe wohne und es ist immer aufs Neue frisch und sehr gut Jede Kleinigkeit wird mit großer Sorgfalt gemacht Jetzt wünsch ich nur noch wertschätzende und freundliche Kundschaft 🫶
