Kartoffelhaus "Alter Speicher" in Bad Harzburg

Das Kartoffelhaus ist geschlossen. Man kann online reservieren und bekommt auch eine Bestätigung sowie am Tag des Besuchs noch eine Erinnerung. Wir waren hungrig und haben uns auf das Essen gefreut, standen aber vor verschlossener Tür mit 11 Personen am Pfingstmontag. Gut das wir dann ganz spontan noch einen Tisch im vollen Restaurant Hirsch bekommen haben. Das Restaurant Hirsch ist sehr zu empfehlen. Das Kartoffelhaus nicht.

Lokal hat uns heute mit 11 Personen vor geschlossenen Türen stehen lassen. Es gab keine Information per Mail, dass am 25.05 geschlossen ist, obwohl bereits vor vielen Wochen reserviert wurde. Sehr enttäuschend

Wenn man einen Tisch reserviert, erwarte ich nach Bestätigung das ich dort essen kann. Wenn man dann wegen angeblicher Renovierung vor verschlossener Tür steht, werd ich sauer. Dankeschön für nix. Unsere Reservierungsnummer #dzmD7R

Eine große Enttäuschung! Wir hatten für eine Gruppe von 8 Personen einen Tisch reserviert. Kurz zuvor kam eine Erinnerung an unsere Tischreservierung . Am Samstag standen wir dann 18 Uhr vor verschlossenen Türen….wegen Reparaturarbeiten geschlossen! Soetwas kann sicher passieren….aber dann kann man doch sicher einen Anruf/ Info erwarten?!

Wir kannten die Gastronomie aus vorherigen Besuchen und wollten da wir zufrieden waren wieder dort einkehren. Wir hatten uns einen Tisch reserviert da wir mehrere Personen waren. Als wir zu der Zeit dort waren( 5 Minuten zu früh) die uns auch per Email bestätigt wurde, hat uns die Bedienung angemalt wir wären zu früh. Wir sagten ja okay 5 Minuten was sie aber schnippisch verneinte und uns sagte eine halbe Stunde. Wir zeigten ihr die bestätigte Zeit worauf sie uns anfauchte sie wüsste es auch. Kein Wort der Entschuldigung oder Lösungsorientiert. Als ein Tisch frei wurde kein Wort oder Hinweis das wir uns dorthin setzen könnten. Stattdessen völlige Ignoranz. Als wir Essen bestellen wollten bekamen wir eine Speisekarte für einen Vierertisch. Auf Nachfrage ob es vielleicht noch Speisekarten gibt wieder Schnippchen Antwort bring ich noch. Das Essen dauerte über eine Stunde eh es da war. Kein Fragen zwischendurch ob noch etwas zu trinken bestellt werden möchte oder ähnliches. Wir waren von diesem Besuch sehr enttäuscht und es wurde auch (denke absichtlich)nicht gefragt ob alles gut gewesen sei. Ich bin der Meinung jeder kann mal einen schlechten Tag haben aber das sollte man nicht den Kunden merken lassen schon gar nicht in der Gastronomie. Dann bin ich im falschen Beruf

Der Service und das Essen waren wirklich sehr gut. Denkt an Bargeld, Kartenzahlung nicht möglich ;-)

Der erste positive Eindruck täuscht gewaltig. Was wir hier erlebten, war eine Mischung aus Servicewüste und kulinarischer Dreistigkeit. ​Service-Absurdität: Für unseren 2,5-jährigen Sohn eine halbe Portion Linguine zu bestellen (wegen Lebensmittelverschwendung, nicht wegen des Preises), wurde von der überheblichen Servicekraft strikt abgelehnt. „Die Portionen sind, wie sie sind.“ Komischerweise war es am Ende beim Gratis-Nachtisch für die drei Kinder plötzlich gar kein Problem mehr, eine Portion zu teilen. Auf Nachfrage zu dieser Doppelmoral gab es nur eine schnippische Antwort. ​Küchen-Rätsel: Zander war aus, Lachs wurde als Ersatz angeboten. Keine drei Minuten (!) nach der Bestellung stand der Fisch auf dem Tisch. Ergebnis: Für 29,50 € bekamen wir ein Filet, das alles andere als frisch wirkte – vermutlich nur kurz aufgewärmt. ​No-Go beim Anstand: Nachdem wir den Fisch berechtigt reklamierten, wurde sich seitens der Bedienung bei den Kollegen lautstark über uns lustig gemacht. Man sei ja „nur am Meckern“. ​Fazit: Wer Lust auf unprofessionelles Personal, unflexible Regeln und aufgewärmtes Essen zu Premium-Preisen hat, ist hier richtig. Wir kommen definitiv nicht wieder.

Das Essen war lecker und die Portionen genau richtig. Die Speisekarte bietet tolle Optionen für Allergiker und Menschen mit Unverträglichkeiten. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, ein rundum angenehmes Erlebnis! 🍽️😊

Gemütliche Gaststätte mit gutem Essen.

Eigentlich ein schönes Restaurant. Das Essen ist auch lecker. Aber wenn man mich in Jogginghose und Sportshirt bedient, hört es bei mir auf. Ich verlange von niemandem, dass er wie geleckt aussieht. Aber rumlaufen als ob man gerade vom Sport kommt, ist für mich ein "No Go" und Grund, dass ich in das Lokal nicht mehr gehe.

Es zieht in dem Lokal... Nahe dem Fensters braucht man im Innenraum eine Decke.. Essen nur lauwarm...geschmacklich naja.. Viel zu teuer... Preis und Leistung stehen in keinem Verhältnis...

Einrichtung gewöhnungsbedürftig und sehr zugig bzw. kalt. Die Preise für das Essen befinden sich auf Champions-League Niveau, geboten wird allerdings nur 3. Liga. Zudem war das Bier schal. Alles in allem eine teure Enttäuschung.

Sind nach einer ausgiebigen Tageswanderung mit 12 Mann hier am Abend eingekehrt. Die Tischreservierung, welche wir oben auf dem Brocken über die Online-Funktion getätigt haben, hat problemlos funktioniert. Essen sehr lecker und richtig gute Portionsgrößen. Getränke sind etwas sehr teuer. Sehr gemütliche, warme Atmosphäre.

Leider nicht zu empfehlen, der Service ist eine Katastrophe, Bei Getränkebestellungen da werden die Gläser ohne ein Tablett zum Tisch gebracht und die Gläser dabei im oberen Bereich wo man trinkt angefasst. Das ist ein absolutes Nogo. Im allgemeinen wirkt der Laden innen sehr alt vorallem die WCs sind sehr alt aus den 70ern. Nachdem wir über eine Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet haben, fragte ich mal höflich nach und bemängelte das , da andere Tische die nach uns kamen schon ihr essen hatten. Im Winter dort hin zu gehen bitte warm anziehen die Heizung steht auf 5 ist aber kalt , überall zieht es. Auf Nachfrage warum es so ist bekam ich die Antwort, sie gibt es an de Chef weiter. Sparen am falschen Ende. Wir kommen nicht mehr wieder.

Leider waren wir echt enttäuscht. Für ein Kartoffelhaus war es wirklich zu wenig kartoffelig. Keine selbstgemachten Produkte und wenig Auswahl. Ich hatte ein vegetarisches Gericht und die 2 Röstis waren Fertigprodukte mit Tiefkühlgemüse für 20€. Das Schnitzel meines Partners war ok aber alles in allem einfach zu teuer für die Art der Zubereitung. Wir saßen am Fenster und dort war es unfassbar zugig und kalt. Positiv : Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und auch sehr bemüht.

Die Schnitzelpfanne mit Paprikasoße hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Auch das Ambiente war angenehmen. Ich konnte die Kartoffelsuppe probieren, auch die war den war sehr gut. Nur der Saisoniale Salat war leider den Preis von 8,90€ wirklich nicht wert. Etwas Eisbergsalat garniert mit Karottenraspeln und 4 Tomatenscheiben. Hat eher einen kleinen Beilagensalat entsprochen.

Wir waren gestern 04.01.26 mit vier Personen im Kartoffelhaus. Die Speisekarte war immer noch die eingeschränkte Weihnachtskarte. Lediglich ein einziges vegetarisches Gericht ( sonst nur der kleine Beilagen Salat zu stolzen 8,90€ ). Für 19.90€ bekam ich tatsächlich TK-Gemüse, kurz gekocht in Hollandaise gemischt und mit Käse überbacken, dazu zwei Kartoffelrösti ( die beiden waren allerdings gut ). Bei so einem einfachen Gericht in der Preisklasse darf man eigentlich schon mehr frische Zutaten erwarten. Der Rest hatte Schnitzel, die sehr gut waren. Als sogenanntes „Kartoffelhaus“ hätte ich mir mehr Gerichte rund um die Kartoffel gewünscht. Die Bedienung war freundlich und bemüht.

Für 9€ einen "saisonalen Salat" zum Hauptgericht bestellt. Bestand aus Eisbergsalat, einer Viertel Tomate und ein paar Karotten raspeln.... Dafür hätte ich mir einen kompletten döner holen können und hier bekomme ich ein bisschen eisbergsalat in eine schale....Frechheit.... Kann ich mir für 30 Cent zuhause machen. Schnitzel war aber gut👍

Lecker Essen mit diversen Kartoffel Spezialitäten. Für Freunde der Knolle sehr zu empfehlen 😉

Sehr nette Bedienung, sehr leckere und groß positionierte Speisen. Wir waren zwei Tage hintereinander dort und hatten reserviert. Unser Hund durfte auch mit. Habe an beiden Tagen die sehr leckere Kartoffelcremesuppe gegessen und danach das Jägerschnitzel und am nächsten Tag den Schweinebraten. Beides war sehr gut zubereitet und wirklich sehr lecker. Wir können das Restaurant nur empfehlen. Grüße

Absolutely not recommended! The service was friendly, but the food was inedible. On top of that, it was so cold that many guests were sitting there wrapped in blankets.

This was our first time at this restaurant – and it was also our last. It was really cold inside, and when we asked about it, they simply dismissed it as the weather outside. The wait for our food was extremely long. What was particularly annoying was that our child's meal arrived about 30 minutes before ours, so it was finished long before we could even start eating. The schnitzel was cafeteria quality, very dry, and absolutely not worth the high price. The appetizer was also frozen. The service was unprofessional as well: when clearing the table, the dishes were stacked hastily and carelessly, and some even fell off. Overall, a disappointing visit – we definitely cannot recommend it.

I went there for a meal with a friend using a coupon booklet. The food is generally good, but unfortunately, the cellar was cold when I ordered my venison goulash, and I also had to send back the red cabbage (it was cold) 🫣. The "Hunter's Style" schnitzel was good 😋. You can eat at the Kartoffelhaus (Potato House) (except in winter >even with the heating on full blast, it was cold<), even though it's more expensive 🖐❗️

Delicious food and very friendly service. We arrived right when the kitchen opened and received our food quickly. Parking can be a bit of a gamble, but you do have a chance of finding a spot right in front of the restaurant. We would definitely come back again.

We were told to leave immediately after eating! The food was okay, but some of it was overcooked and burnt. When we pointed this out, they offered neither a discount nor an apology.

The ambiance is very rustic with lots of decorative items (e.g., witches that fit the region well) – if that's your thing, it's certainly very nice. However, my partner's food was already partially cold, and the schnitzel was undercooked in places. At almost €26 for a schnitzel, I found it quite expensive. The staff was very friendly, but also a bit pushy (we were asked if we were enjoying our meal before I'd even taken a bite). It's certainly nice when guests are given such attentive service, but for a meal for two, it felt a bit excessive.

The witch's pan is highly recommended. The dish looks small and manageable, but it's more than enough.

I can't recommend it. The food is much more expensive, but you only get frozen food; nothing is freshly prepared. Any cafeteria can do that for half the price.

I was absolutely thrilled! The food arrived very quickly and piping hot – no long wait. I particularly want to highlight the Harzburger Hexenpfanne (Hexenpan): super fresh, served perfectly warm, and incredibly juicy. The weekly special with the meatballs was also a real highlight – spicy, tender, and simply delicious. You can tell the love goes into the cooking here. Highly recommended; I'd love to come back!

I thought the Linguine al Funghi was truly delicious. The service was also friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was full.

The food is nothing special, but it's quite expensive. The price/performance ratio isn't right in my opinion. The chef, or boss—I couldn't quite identify who it was—who yells and insults the staff so loudly that every guest can hear it is unpleasant for everyone and highly unprofessional. The service was attentive.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a particularly good experience at this restaurant. We took the initiative and got our menus fairly quickly. We placed our orders upon request. The food didn't arrive for 1.5 hours. When we asked, we were told that the kitchen wasn't receiving orders due to technical problems. Other guests took even longer to receive their food. Unfortunately, the food didn't taste great either. The Köhler schnitzel pan contained grilled chicken, which didn't quite go well with the creamed mushrooms. The side dishes, such as fried potatoes and croquettes, were probably fried in old fat. In summary, we can't recommend this restaurant. We won't be going back. The service was attentive, but seemed very disorganized and had obviously lost track of things. On the positive side, the ambiance was fine and quite pleasant. However, it was also quite cold in the restaurant. Overall, it wasn't a great experience for us.

After waiting 45 minutes for two schnitzels, we'd had enough... The place was only half full... 2 beers and 1 apple spritzer for €16.70... Prices like in a restaurant...! A hunter's schnitzel was almost €25... Never again...

We waited a long time for the food to arrive, even though it wasn't very busy. Unfortunately, the food was bland, not particularly well presented, and more like cafeteria food in terms of quality.

It's a shame when you reserve a table weeks in advance, only to receive a reminder like the one attached the next morning that you have a reservation for that evening, and the hosts are delighted. Then we stand in front of the restaurant, and they have a sign saying they're on vacation, which started two days before. Why then are appointment reminders sent out? We just managed to get a table at the next restaurant and had a delicious meal there. But the service at the Alter Speicher only gets one star from me. Because that's not service at all. We had two delicious meals. Once with Karfoffelsuppe and Schnitzel Wiener Art, and once with Schnitzel Hawaii. The portions were generous and the flavor was delicious. The service was prompt and responsive.

German food mostly, good service, possible to get common drinks of high quality. Very cozy place, with a beautiful outdoor serving area.

I had the potato casserole and didn't find it very tasty... for dessert there were fried apple rings... somehow everything had a bit of a fast-food feel...

I would have loved to review this restaurant. We wanted to go for dinner today (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. Unfortunately, everything was dark, the door was locked, and there was no indication at the restaurant or online as to why it was closed or that it was closed.

We went to the potato house with our voucher. The online reservation worked great. The staff was really nice and on the ball. We actually would have liked more potato dishes. For example, a farmer's omelette or more selection of casseroles. There were dishes with chicken, pork, deer and also fish. Reordering of supplements was made without any problems at no extra charge. We didn't have to wait long for the food. The portions weren't exactly small and we were all full. All dishes were very, very tasty.

Nice restaurant at the beginning we thought oh everything was empty, we were the only guests. But ok, we were early too. After a short time she filled the restaurant well, despite it being a weekday. Service was very nice and friendly. The food was good, it didn't look like much at first, but it looked impressive. The portion was completely sufficient, I didn't finish everything. We'd be happy to come back again when we're in the Harz Mountains.

A very nice and lovingly designed restaurant. Even without a reservation, we were able to get a place (with a large dog) at short notice. We were also seated dog-friendly at the edge at a large table. The service was great and the food was very tasty.

I think you have to decide for yourself, I probably won't go there again. My wife and I were there with the voucher book (order 2 dishes, the cheaper one is free) and we also informed them in advance. The taste of the food was ok. My wife had a schnitzel with broccoli, I decided on a roast pork. Unfortunately, the roast pork was only lukewarm. We had ordered a table beforehand, but got the so-called shaving seat, almost at the door. It was drafty and was cold, despite that Curtains.So it's better to go in the summer.So of course it wasn't really any fun.When I paid, it turned out that my dish didn't meet the requirements of the voucher booklet. We weren't told that when we ordered. There was a billing for two dishes. The waitress then just wanted to ignore the matter and became discreetly bitchy. When I told her that this was now her problem, she bitched for a moment but then agreed. If I hadn't been stubborn, she would have ripped us off. So, it's important to ask beforehand when visiting which dishes are covered by the voucher book and which are not. I had the impression that there was a conscious attempt to charge in full it works, sometimes it doesn't work.

Nice atmosphere, terrace facing the busy main street, a little quieter inside. Attentive service, got the cat and the drinks quickly and diligently. The cutlery was missing for the starter. Main course very rich and tasty. Fresh and homemade. Prices are ok, well attended. Be sure to reserve. We'd love to come back. Only recommended

We ate here on February 1st, 2025 and we will definitely come back, despite an hour's drive. The service was very friendly and we didn't have to wait very long for drinks and food.

You can't complain about the food. As described, rustic and plentiful. We were traveling with 2 children. It felt like there wasn't any heating inside, warm drinks other than tea weren't possible because the machine was broken and ultimately the price level was way too high.

Very good service and tasty food. We'll be back.
