Kades Restaurant "Am Pfingstberg" in Potsdam

Beautiful restaurant on the edge of Pfingstberg. We always enjoy going there when the weather's nice. The seating is simply lovely. The food is always good. A bit more variety on the menu would be even better. The wine selection isn't extensive, but it's good.

The menu reads a bit uninspired, but everyone at the table enjoyed the food. I found it odd that there's no draft beer from the region, only beers from Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

Good, fresh, regional, and seasonal food, a very pleasant ambiance, a great location, and super-friendly service. And best of all, everything on the menu, except for one dish, was gluten-free and even suitable for those with celiac disease. They're very knowledgeable and pay attention to contamination. High praise indeed.

Potsdam's formidable secret gem - a welcome change from popular "more show than substance" restaurants

The food and service were excellent. We had a reservation and had a wonderful spot on the terrace. The menu is manageable, but there's something for every taste. Despite the terrace being busy, we were served quickly. We've been to the restaurant several times and have always been very satisfied.

We celebrated our small civil wedding here and love coming back again and again. Exceptionally good food and charming service. Thank you

Trotz des regnerischen Wetters hatten wir in gemütlichem Ambiente eine schöne Zeit und alle fühlten sich sehr wohl. Meine Gäste waren voll des Lobes und Ihr Team war so dezent und immer ansprechbar - wie ich es aus alten Zeiten kenne. Glückwunsch zu diesem Team. Ich mag das, wenn jemand sein Fach versteht und das gilt auch für die Küche. Lecker Essen und ausreichend bis in den gestrigen Tag. Im Kades haben wir am Karfreitag sehr gut gegessen. Unser Mittagessen schmeckte uns doppelt so gut, weil die Mitarbeiter so freundlich und aufmerksam sind.

Service staff very friendly and attentive. Card payment possible. The ambience on the terrace is also nice. Unfortunately, some of the potatoes in the potato and asparagus casserole are still too raw for the higher-priced meal. The apple strudel is not available in spring/summer.

Very elegant restaurant with a fireplace. Also possible without a reservation if only a few people come. Reservations are required for larger numbers of people. There are only a few parking spaces in front of the door. The first one has no problems parking.

Yes. Anyone exploring Potsdam should take a detour to the Pfingstberg and visit the Kades. Since it opened in the 1990s, we have always felt very comfortable there and have remained loyal to the owner family. That speaks for itself.

Very nice restaurant and great service

We went to the Feuerzangenbowle with food and then a film of the same name at Kades. Very nice introduction by Mr. Kade with a number of anecdotes. The food was tasty and very generous. Overall, a nice, cozy evening.

Das leckere Menü, von passenden und schmackhaften Weinen begleitet, sowie die humorvoll vorgetragenen "Benimmregeln" durch Mario Kade haben uns sehr gut gefallen.

Wir waren am 17.01.25 bei KADES zur Feuerzangenbowle, zum Wildhaxenmenü und zum Film. Das Haxenmenü war genial, super geschmackvoll das Gemüse. Auch die frisch zubereitete Feuerzangenbowle war sehr, sehr lecker und der Film hat ja immer einen super Charme. Es war ein gelungener Abend im Restaurant Kades "Am Pfingstberg".

A gastronomy in a class of its own.

For the first time I celebrated New Year's Eve at Kades. The relatively small dining room was good, but not overly full - very pleasant. The personal greeting from the host made you feel really welcome. The room was discreetly decorated, as was the veranda, which was ideal for dancing. The food was tasty. I was probably the only vegetarian and can highly praise the cuisine. Everything tasted delicious and was cooked imaginatively. This is not a given. A big thank you for that!!! The cabaret performance by Ms. Liere and Mr. Zieger was refreshing and exhilarating. It's a shame that they were under so much time pressure because of a follow-up event at the Kabaret am Obelisk. The DJ was well prepared and was able to get the revelers back on the dance floor again and again. A little more catchy target group music would have been desirable (70s/80s), but it could also have something to do with GEMA. The group walk to the Pona Temple with a piccolo and lanterns was fine, and there was a view of the booming Potsdam. You have to like it. (The reviewer then said goodbye.) The drinks that still had to be paid for, as well as the price per person, were completely fine and so you can only thank Haus Kade for this New Year's Eve party! May there be more!

Kade's ambience is really nice, especially at Christmas time. The food is really good. The service is also largely very courteous and attentive. The only downer is the narrow time window for Christmas dinner, for the upscale, not exactly inexpensive food. It's a shame if you're under time pressure when it comes to eating it and perhaps you would have liked to have had a little more time to eat it further. A little tip: enlarge the time window a little. Nevertheless, it remains a highly recommended location!

Non-carbonated Sprite is a no go Meat not edible

We were very satisfied. We were able to reserve a table for five people at the end of November. Exceptionally friendly service, despite the restaurant being full. Very tasteful food. We'd love to come back.

My first visit after I got to know it as a “garden pub” in Eastern times. A twist that was worth it and the food and service were great. Individual (vegetarian) requests were also taken into account - all with a suitable wine recommendation. I'd love to come back!

Liebes Team vom Restaurant Kades, am letzten Freitag, 13.12. haben wir unsere Weihnachtsfeier bei ihnen gefeiert. Im Namens des gesamten Teams möchten wir uns ganz herzlich für den schönen Abend bedanken. Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, der Service aufmerksam und freundlich, der Raum weihnachtlich geschmückt. Wir haben uns wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Auch kleine Sonderwünsche wurden möglich gemacht. Ein großes Dankeschön an das gesamtes Team, welches an diesem Abend für uns gearbeitet hat.

The goose was delicious, but the alternative dish - previously discussed over the phone - unfortunately did not meet expectations. Even Harald Martenstein couldn't get rid of that. Too bad.

The goose and all the side dishes were excellent. The service was quick and friendly (we only had to wait a while for the first beer). The after-dinner program was unexpected and, for the most part, fun and entertaining. I found the comments on current politics (Scholz and Baerbock) inappropriate and not funny. The boss would have liked to have left that out. Overall, a pretty very expensive pleasure 😃

Das jährliche Martinsgans-Essen war wieder ein absoluter Genuss. Das Menü zur Gänsezeit ist traditionell und es fehlt an nichts. Die Auswahl der Lebensmittel ist von großer Sorgfalt und es wird Wert auf regionale Produkte gelegt. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, und das gemütliche Ambiente des Restaurants rundete den Abend perfekt ab. Ein rundum gelungenes Erlebnis, welches wir nur empfehlen können. P.s. Auch außerhalb der Gänsezeit kann man im Kades wirklich sehr gut Essen.

We ate a St. Martin's goose here today and everything was a bomb. Absolutely recommended.

The goose was once again delicious, only topped by the kale. Overall a great location, you have to be there at least once. The food is expensive, but the price/performance is still okay.

Wir waren am 01. 11. bereits im Kades. Es war hervorragend! Am 14. 11. waren wir mit Freunden im Kades und haben wieder eine Gans verspeist. Und was soll ich schreiben, es war genial! Wir dürfen unsere Freunde noch Freunde nennen. Die Gans war ausgezeichnet und das Personal einfach super! Vielen Dank für die schönen Stunden mit Euch!!! Wir haben bereits wiederbestellt!

We were here for the first time. A very nice restaurant with a very cozy atmosphere. From the terrace we had a wonderful, wide view. The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The service is very friendly and attentive. From here we then took a worthwhile walk to the Belvedere on the Pfingstberg. We would definitely like to come back.

Unfortunately, expectations were not met and the food (pasta with corn-fed chicken) was overcooked, had no seasoning and was very manageable. The service was nice and friendly, a bit overwhelmed with a large group.

Wir kamen auf dem Weg vom Pfingstberg (Belvedere) zum Neuen Garten am Lokal vorbei. Es war kurz vor der vor der Öffnungszeit, aber wir wurden sehr freundlich vom Chef persönlich hereingebeten. Wir wollten nur eine Kleinigkeit trinken. Vom Lokal hat man eine tolle Aussicht Richtung Pfingsbergsiedlung und die ehemalige rote Kaserne. Das Lokal befindet sich in einer Kleingartenanlage (Bergauf).

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet, ohne wenn und aber. Das Ambiente war sehr schön, essen mit Kaminfeuer, was will man mehr. Die Bedienungen waren sehr aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und freundlich. Sie verstanden definitiv ihr Handwerk und trugen maßgeblich zu unserem schönen Abend bei :) Kleines Manko, wenn man nicht rechtzeitig da ist, sind die Parkplätze rar gesät, aber ein kleiner Spaziergang nach einem schönen Abend tut nicht weh ;) Wir sehen uns ganz bald wieder!

It was our first time at Restaurant Kades and we were more than satisfied. Beautiful outdoor area, super friendly and well-trained waiters. You have high expectations of the food, also because of the price. It tasted good and was more expensive than anywhere else. But nothing more. For me: If you want to eat in a particularly beautiful place with nice surroundings and are prepared to pay more, then you should go!

Wir haben im Juni 2024 nach der Trauung im Belvedere unsere Hochzeitsfeier mit 25 Gästen im Restaurant Kade gefeiert. Von der Planung bis zur Durchführung der Feier war alles so, wie wir es uns gewünscht haben. Bis zum Hochzeitstag selbst war nicht klar, ob wir wetterbedingt draußen sitzen können. Hier war Herr Kade super flexibel und hätte auch in letzter Minute nochmal umräumen lassen. Wir saßen am Ende im Wintergarten und es war wunderschön. Das Essen war fantastisch, unsere Gäste schwärmen heute noch von dem tollen Menü. Der Service war herzerfrischend, aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Ambiente ist einfach nur schön, auch wenn man nicht auf der Terrasse sitzen kann. Sowohl Herr Kade selbst als auch sein Team haben alles dafür getan, dass wir – trotz Regens - eine wunderschöne entspannte und unvergessliche Hochzeitsfeier hatten. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder. Absolute Empfehlung!

We celebrated our wedding reception with 25 guests in the Kade restaurant in June. From the planning to the execution of the celebration, everything was as we wanted it to be. Until the wedding day itself, it wasn't clear whether we would be able to sit outside due to the weather. Mr. Kade was super flexible here and would have had the room rearranged at the last minute. We sat in the conservatory at the end and it was beautiful. The food was fantastic, our guests are still raving about the great menu. The service was heartwarming, attentive and friendly. The ambience is just beautiful. Both Mr. Kade himself and his team did everything to ensure that we had a wonderful, relaxed and unforgettable wedding celebration - despite the rain.

The rain was getting closer, with no chance of getting wet. We reached the Kades Restaurant, probably the boss warmly invited us to a covered bar table because his restaurant was full and protected us from the shower with a cold beer. Cool atmosphere with a good boss and an even better location, we would be happy to come back next time with a table reservation. :-)

Beautiful German restaurant set in the Russian quarter of Potsdam. Small but perfectly authentic German menu with plenty of options for most tastes. The fish, wild boar, Schnitzel, and chicken were all excellent. Service was great, as were the amazing views from the outside terrace. It's a bit out of the way for a restaurant in Potsdam, and as a result, it's mainly local Germans that find their way there. It's definitely a place worth the walk. It's about a 10-minute walk from the Russian church in the Russian quarter, and I would highly recommend making the effort. Alternatively, there is plenty of free parking on offer if that is more your thing!

Nice ambience that is reminiscent of southern village restaurants with old trees. But the food: eggplant very raw, barely pulled through the pan let alone seasoned (service comment: my chefs like it crunchy). In addition, a very manageable portion (we actually considered reordering the offer for the “slim thaler”, but that would have increased the final price exorbitantly and that seemed very exaggerated). The announced salad for this dish was loosely sprinkled on top... you can already tell, that was a very poor performance! Great place with very mediocre cuisine…

All in all a successful concept. Whether beer garden, normal inside or winter garden. I felt cared for and picked up here. The portions are not overly large, but the menu offers plenty of starters and desserts. We'd love to come back.

Over one hour to get the food?! Go somewhere else

If you reserve well in advance, you can eat very well in this place. We were on the terrace in beautiful weather and although the restaurant was fully booked, the service was very good, the food was very tasty and overall - simply recommended.

Wir habem am 13.7.2024 unsere Standesamtliche Hochzeit mit 80 Personen im Kades Restaurant gefeiert und es war die perfekte Location dafür. Von der Organisation bis zur Durchführung des Anlasses hat alles wundervoll geklappt und unsere Erwartungen wurden im weiten übertroffen. Alle unsere Gäste und wir waren begeistert vom Essen, der Location, vom Service - einfach das gesamte Paket. Das kriegen wir bis heute zu hören. Es war einfach der perfekte Tag und das haben wir Mario, René und dem Team zu verdanken. Wir können das Restaurant wärmstens empfehlen, nicht nur für ein Mittagessen auf der schönen Terrasse sondern auch für Grossanlässe. We have been to Kade several times and were a little disappointed this time. The food was fresh and good, but nothing more. My salad was very simple and for the price you just expect more. But basically we would go there again because the whole atmosphere is so nice and the staff is very friendly.
