Anna Amalia in Potsdam

We wanted to try something new and, after many years, we searched for and found a restaurant serving German cuisine. I must say I'm very critical when it comes to restaurants and have often been disappointed, but not here. The food is plentiful and flavorful; there are definitely professionals working in the kitchen. Amalia offers excellent cuisine with outstanding value for money, showcasing a level of culinary skill that is now rare to find elsewhere. We'll be back!

It's nice and cozy with the fireplace, but also incredibly hot, so wear a t-shirt just in case :-)

December 6, 2025: We ate here for the second time today, and it was once again very, very delicious. The service was excellent, attentive, and very friendly. The only drawback is that sitting in the front of the restaurant is quite uncomfortable because the door keeps opening, and in cold weather, the draft really snags on your legs. I had to put my jacket over my legs. It would be good if you could come up with something to address this. Because the food is so delicious, we ate here again on December 7, 2025, but today we had a very nice table, and I didn't get cold. Best regards, Angela

I really didn't like the food at all! The tomato soup I had as a starter turned out to be the base for three of the dishes we ordered. Very uninspired and not particularly tasty. My dish was also completely cold, but the server kindly heated it up quickly. Honestly, I don't understand the good reviews at all. All in all, the food reminded me more of a school cafeteria than a restaurant.

Highly recommended for duck or goose dinners! Absolutely delicious! The duck with dumplings and red cabbage was very tasty and, importantly, served piping hot. Generous portions! I recommend pairing it with an Italian red wine! Beforehand, we were treated to a delicious amuse-bouche. :) The service was professional and prompt. I'll definitely be back.

I went to the restaurant with my family for my birthday. My expectations were very high, so the disappointment was all the greater. The restaurant is very popular, but that's also because it's located on a campsite.

One of my favorite restaurants in Potsdam. In summer, you can sit outside with a view of the lake, and in winter, it's cozy inside. Many dishes are homemade, whereas other restaurants use frozen food. Always delicious and reasonably priced. The robot that delivers the plates is also fun. There's even a wall where you can borrow glasses if you've forgotten yours. Everyone is super friendly.

We went to Anna Amalia today for my grandmother's 80th birthday. I would go there again anytime. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Diverse and exclusive selection. Why only 4 out of 5 stars? Some of the food was a bit too salty, which some family members didn't particularly like. However, I had an excellent choice with my venison medallions!

Last year it was so good here. This year we were disappointed. Cold potatoes, dry meat. Instead of fettuccine, the stuffed chicken breast had unseasoned quark, and the spinach was cold. The fries were unsalted. The other dishes were similar.

We had the fish soup, soljanka, Hirsch medallion, lamm huftsteak and stracciatella sundae with espressos for dessert. The service was attentive and delivered with good humor, which you don't get everywhere. Our server Ines was kind enough to point out that it would simply be too much food altogether. She was absolutely right😅 Really top thanks to her, or else I might've exploded on the drive home. 😂 The food was fabulous (the fish soup and soljanka especially stood out as beyond expectations). They even had delicious alcohol free cocktail (spritz) options since I was driving. There's a strange service robot occasionally zipping around with a smiling face and plates.... That was a momentary break in the atmosphere, which was otherwise rustic chic.

A small suggestion (not a criticism): I would personally revise the sign on the tables and remove the "10% tip would be appreciated" part. Satisfied guests usually leave a tip on their own without being asked. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Our favorite restaurant in Potsdam and the surrounding area! Besides the great food, it's above all the service, which is rarely found in this kind of friendliness! Children are welcome, have their own play area, a booster seat, and the staff are very understanding! The warm ambiance by the water, the burning wood in the fireplace, or the tree growing through the room into the open air – you simply feel at home here! Highly recommended, and stay tuned!

We went out to dinner with 10 people, all for the first time. I can't agree with the many positive reviews! The beetroot salad, I was expecting fresh, seemed to be from a can. The black tagliatelle was very bland, practically tasteless. Overall, the food was very average, as were the desserts. The atmosphere was very crowd-pleasing and very loud. We know of far better restaurants where the food is freshly cooked! For example, the Anglerklause!

We came as a group. Unfortunately, some of our guests were late, so we walked in during the after-work rush. Nevertheless, the servers didn't rush us, but simply informed us that the kitchen was closing, the last round, etc. The food was fantastic, very varied, and the portions were large. The prices were a bit higher than average, but absolutely reasonable for the portion size and the quality of the food. I'll be happy to come back!

Seven of us were there in the back room. It was pleasantly quiet and easy to chat, a truly wonderful experience for a birthday dinner. The iconic "Bullerofen" (a traditional Dutch oven) provided a pleasant atmosphere. The rooms were clean, as were the restrooms. The food was overall really good, especially the meat portions of lamb, chicken, and fish. The vegetable preparation wasn't quite as good, fluctuating between (too) soft grilled vegetables and slightly (too) hard broccoli. The potatoes (oven-baked and rosemary-baked) were again very well prepared, and the veggie dish we chose was also very good. What was particularly good, however, was the attentive, flexible, yet unobtrusive service, which was always very friendly and responsive to our needs (a short-term increase in the number of guests), even at the other tables. The selection of dishes and the amount of food were truly appealing, and in my experience, both represent a unique selling point both regionally and nationally. The robot playing birthday music is a matter of taste; I didn't need it, but I appreciated the gesture. Important: Finally, there was no background music; you didn't have to shout to be heard. Drinks were mixed; the Coke was too warm and still carbonated, but the rest was otherwise quite good (water, Potsdamer, shandy, etc.). We will definitely be back. Thanks to the entire kitchen and service team for a wonderful evening with family.

What do you do when you're fortunate enough to be able to pay exclusively by card (but without being charged for the excellent service) and unfortunately don't have a cent in cash for a tip? I'm writing a review because it's a good way to recognize the excellent work of restaurant employee Timo and, at the same time, revenge for his spontaneous gesture of offering us a sample of the vanilla pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin seed crunch ice cream. --- This very cozy restaurant, decorated with a fireplace and lots of wood, idyllically located at the entrance to the 'Sansoussi' campsite and Lake Templin, offers a wide range of food and drinks, primarily German home cooking, but also tarte flambée, mozzarella pesto vegetables, and little extras we've never experienced before. Here, they serve rhubarb-flavored Berliner Weisse, and every coffee comes with a cute and delicious ice cream cone attached to the rim of the saucer. The food is plentiful and can be ordered a size smaller if needed. You either pay €2 less or donate the money to a good cause. The aforementioned vanilla pumpkin seed oil ice cream with crunch is a creation of the owner, who believes it's important that guests experience memories of their childhood cooking. My sample (pumpkin seed caramel crunch) was a hit – it reminded me of my mother/grandmother's homemade sweets from their childhood. As someone who notices a lot, I couldn't miss Timo's extremely attentive, friendly, and personal service, which every guest received: a friendly question here, another beer there, and at the next table, an offer to take a photo of the guests with their phone. This man knows a lot about his business, and the joy he takes in his work was palpable. That deserves great praise! This professional employee made the evening complete. P.S.: We were allowed to come with our two Goldie ladies, and even earlier than the reservation app indicated. - All in all (price-performance-service) a clear recommendation from us!

We celebrated a 60th birthday here with about 40 people. In short, it was a successful evening. The food was delicious and the service very satisfactory... you never had to wait thirsty for a fresh beer here! Don't be fooled by the fact that the restaurant is located at the entrance to a campsite (which is not meant to be derogatory towards campsites!). The Anna Amalia certainly has a pleasant charm, great service, and good food... I'll be back.

I had the braised leg of rabbit for almost €30. Since then, I know where the expression "dry as a rabbit..." comes from. The side dishes were okay. Because the place was very busy and everyone around was happy, I swallowed my anger. I'll give the restaurant another chance. We were there again last night. Everything was great: the mixed grill was good, as was the stuffed chicken breast. But the dessert was amazing: Styrian ice cream! Vanilla ice cream with pumpkin seed oil and pumpkin seeds in caramel. So delicious ❤️
