No matter which Block House you visit, the service and food quality are always top-notch. The unique ambiance of each Block House is also unmistakable. I really appreciate that.

Mediocre restaurant. The service was good, but the food was less so. I ordered a medium steak and received it almost well-done. The price was not justified. No alternative side dishes were offered. I've definitely had much better experiences.

She was rude and could have given us another seat that would have been more dog-friendly. We got up and left. I've been coming here for 30 years, and I've never experienced anything like this before 🤔

We ate at Blockhouse Bergedorf yesterday and experienced extremely poor service. It started with a complete lack of greeting. When ordering my drinks, I had a question about the wine. The server clearly didn't know much about wine (which isn't a bad thing), but also refused my request to ask at the bar. Water glasses were simply placed on the edge of the table for a short while instead of being handed out. At the next table, someone asked for the dessert menu. A menu for three people was brought without a word. There was practically no service at all. I felt very unwelcome!

The BLOCK HOUSE in Bergedorf offers delicious food at a reasonable price. Today we had the Mr. and Mrs. Rump Steak with potato filling, sour cream, garlic baguette, and a mixed salad. The food was hot, both steaks were grilled medium, and everything tasted delicious. We'll be back.

Lunch: Of the four pieces of beef, two were tough and stringy. The mushrooms, fries, and bread were okay. Also worth mentioning is the women's restroom; upon entering, there was a terrible stench of pee; something urgently needs to be done. A disappointing visit; we won't be back for a while.

Superb food. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the salad was crisp and fresh. I skipped the baked potato and ordered mushrooms instead. They even credited the potato to my bill. Very fair. I've never experienced that before. When I usually swap sides, I only pay extra. Thank you very much. I'll be back.

We've been regularly visiting the branch at Hamburg Central Station for over 30 years and have had little cause for complaint. The experience at the Bergedorf branch was all the more disappointing, even though we've had a few large celebrations there in the past. There were six of us, some arriving shortly before 2 p.m., others shortly after. As a waiter brought us the menus, I mentioned that I had a question about the weekly special. His previously friendly expression promptly changed, and he threw it on the table as he turned away, preventing me from asking my question. At 2:15 p.m., I asked a waitress if the turkey medallions could be served with a sauce other than pepper cream, as one of our guests couldn't tolerate pepper. She looked impatiently at her watch (lunch was served until 3 p.m.) and explained that steak sauce was available instead. A short time later, the waiter again took our order. The person in question decided against the sauce and ordered an American salad – but only with leaf lettuce, bell peppers, and cucumbers. The reason for this is a special health condition, which is why the person speaks more quietly than others. A little more attention would have been enough to notice this. Instead, they were barked at with an annoyed "louder!" I repeated the order – in which I made a slip of the tongue ("leaf spinach" instead of "leaf salad"). This resulted in a shake of the head and an annoyed "No, no, no... that's not possible." After I apologized, we were given an unfriendly list of various salad options, which no one at the table understood due to the speed. It was particularly unfortunate that this behavior noticeably dampened our mood. Especially in times when a restaurant visit is quite expensive, one can expect friendly service – that's not too much to ask, after all. At a certain point, the waiter's demeanor suddenly changed: He became friendly, looked at me explicitly, smiled, and asked if everything was okay. However, I was tired of further interaction and responded coldly. Whether this was due to our Asian origins or some other reason (stress?) is a mystery to us. The fact is, this is not how you treat guests. Based on some of the negative reviews here, it seems we weren't the only ones who were mistreated, and the owner's feedback left a lot to be desired. We finally expressed our dissatisfaction with our tip.

We really enjoyed our meal at Block House Bergedorf. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly, and was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a very welcoming atmosphere. I recommend Block House, I will definitely be coming back

Yesterday, August 28, 2025, I was at this restaurant with my mother around 9:10 p.m., which was relatively late, but the manager greeted us warmly, and everything was fine up until then. We actually wanted to eat something quickly and leave, so the timing worked out, but the staff were quite impatient, which was noticeable right from the start. And then the food was so bad and heartlessly made. The meat was dry and tough, and the mushrooms weren't tasty at all, and there were so few of them that they could have been left out. 😒 I go to the blockhouse at least once a week, usually in the city, and I'm used to much better... And now comes the kicker... I wanted an extra portion of sour cream, and somehow the waitresses didn't want to see me, even though I was getting really impatient and waved, and one waitress was talking to two people with her back to me. I don't know if one of them was a guest or a staff member who had already changed. Anyway, I stood up and said, "Excuse me, I don't want to interrupt your private conversation, but I've been waiting this whole time, and can I get sour cream?" Back at my seat, the woman came up to me, wanted to confront me, and then told me to SHUT MY STUPID MOUTH!! Then she left. (I could have even called the police.) Unbelievable, and the waitress seemed to be disregarding it. The manager had obviously already finished work long ago... Great guy, let your team work hard. You don't do that!! As a manager, you're the last one to go home, not the first!! They should have told us we were late instead of things going so badly. I would have preferred a kebab. The waitress did offer us a free coffee at the end, but we politely declined. So, Blockhouse is history for us for now! We'll be looking for a new steakhouse. The quality has to improve again!!

We had a very pleasant evening. After a short wait at the door, Mr. Takulu, in a suit, greeted us attentively with a glass of wine to thank us for the wait. Mr. Aman provided excellent service, and the food was top-quality; for the price, you can't complain. It's more expensive and worse elsewhere. After a year's break from the Block House, we're happy to return to Bergedorf for dinner.

After the meal, we had to wait 15 minutes for the bill. We then went inside to pay, but were sent out because you can only pay at the table. We were once again insulted by the owner and the server. That's not how you treat guests. Absolutely unprofessional and not recommended. I prefer to visit the other Block House branches in Hamburg.

Overall, I found the food a bit lackluster... A pile of fries on the plate, without any sauce, with a spoon-sized dollop of salad – which fits on a slice of cucumber. The meat on my burger was still very good. But that was the only positive thing I found. The service wasn't good. Not unfriendly, but not interested either. It's good that you're "woman" enough to make yourself known when you have requests.

The waitress seemed disinterested and barely approachable. Overall, I unfortunately cannot recommend Block House in Bergedorf. If you want to enjoy a tender and juicy steak, you should go to another restaurant.

Luckily, we had reserved a table and were seated at the very top of the restaurant. This restaurant is quite popular, and rightly so. The service was excellent and extremely prompt, considering the ladies and gentlemen had to carry everything up and down the stairs. The food was fresh and everyone enjoyed it. It's super cozy, and we had a really good time.

Super nice outdoor area in the pedestrian zone, very friendly service. Unfortunately, the food, contrary to my expectations, was really not good. I ordered the Classic Block Burger with fries, and I got a burger patty with a baked potato. I did get the fries after asking, but the baked potato was supposed to be free. Unfortunately, it was uneatable because it was completely dried out. And my burger, well... it was just the patty (for €17!), without anything else... you could eat it, but you didn't have to. The fries were good, and so was the mayo. Over.

A rustic atmosphere with delicious food. As you'd expect from the Blockhouse, there are delicious salads and excellent meat. Sometimes there could be a bit more of it, but the taste is very good. Overall, really good value for money.

Unfriendly and rude to families. Disappointing experience with a toddler at Block House We ate at Block House today as a family (two adults and a 2-year-old child). However, our son wanted a cheeseburger, which we got for him next door at Jim Block, since Block House doesn't offer kids' burgers. Since both restaurants belong to the same chain, we thought this would be a no-brainer. After we sat down at Block House, placed our order, and received our drinks, our little son began eating his burger. After only a few bites, however, the restaurant manager came to our table and asked us to leave the restaurant, stating that eating outside food was not permitted. We understand that there are rules, but we find the manner inappropriate, especially since this was a toddler who was simply eating a burger from their partner restaurant. Unfortunately, this fits with our previous experiences. We never felt truly welcome there. The atmosphere is cold, and the staff are often unfriendly. One wonders whether the treatment would have been different if we were "German" or a visible part of the majority society. Either way, this was our last visit.

Last night, the two of us ate here. I ordered a New York burger, hoping to get a burger like you'd expect. It was kind of disappointing. I got a dry slice of white bread with a patty with cheese and a few tomatoes on it... The fries were also kind of carelessly served... I was kind of disappointed. The service wasn't exactly in the mood when we were there. Long waits despite being under-utilized, rump steak with almost 50% fat on the edge, and when you complain, they just say, "That's always the way it is." No, it's not always like that. In Poppenbüttel, the meat is always much better, the service faster and more attentive. If I ask three times for ketchup for my fries, I expect to get it, but no, it hadn't been brought until I called for the bill. What a shame, and eating out has become a real luxury these days.

The food was, as always, very good. The meat was fried as it should be. I used to like eating the walnut ice cream. For a long time now, walnut ice cream has only been available in the flavor of salted caramel, which I think is an absolute aberration in taste. The walnut ice cream should only taste like walnuts again.

Today my husband, our 8-month-old daughter and I were there to use a table on the terrace. When I asked for a child's chair, the manager came to us and immediately said that he thought it was too dangerous to use the child's chair on the terrace without greeting us first. The table we wanted to sit at was on the edge of the terrace and could have easily been moved. When I suggested placing the child's chair on the safe side of the table and pointed to the table, he stood between me and the table and, without looking me directly in the eyes, explained: "No, that's too dangerous for me, or you'll wait until a table becomes available." There were at least ten tables free! It was obvious that we didn't fit the desired customer image and that they wanted to drive us away. This behavior is unacceptable in a leadership position and should be something to think about. Clear discrimination because the situation was so clear in the way he treated us. Shoot them away without even greeting them!

The salmon dish seemed like the worst cafeteria nightmare. The service: Like something out of the textbook from 40 years ago, tried hard but superficial and disinterested. The house used to be the first place in Bergedorf. Unfortunately I can no longer confirm that. Lack of staff, okay. But when the lady wipes her eye at the table and doesn't have the entire menu ready, so she had to go back twice, the fun ends for me. Sauces were brought to us by the other waitress at the table, but only because we asked. In any case, nothing was right😡and last but not least, the older lady discussed the bowl of beer with me.. (allegedly Are there always yeast residues in the tap)!?! Well, then I probably had a non-expert as a trainer.. whatever, thank God there are other steakhouses..

My husband and I ate there for the first time based on a recommendation and it was incredibly tasty. We can only warmly recommend the rib eye steak and the turkey breast steak. And the service was also very friendly and accommodating. So all in all, definitely worth a visit.

Everything fine! The staff was very friendly, entertained us well and made us have fun with little things on the side, big compliments to the nice lady! The food - we tried three dishes - was consistently convincing, as we have always been used to. Great steaks 🥩, a delicious burger 🍔 and the veggie platter (garden potatoes) all tasted very good. The look of the restaurant is a real eye-catcher. It has its own charm, looks warm and inviting and at the same time like a typical rustic steakhouse. We had a great evening with the team. We would like to thank you for that!

So, it tastes just like you'd expect from the Block House, really delicious! The only thing I noticed about the Bergedorf Block House was that it was really crowded, and that was during the week. The atmosphere suffered as a result. The staff was very friendly but seemed stressed. Which is understandable given the crowds!
