I find the dishes very tasty and hearty, and the service very pleasant and friendly. I recommend it. The prices are also very reasonable.

We ate there for our first day of school. The server was very attentive and courteous. The children were given utensils to keep them occupied. The food served to us was also top-notch. We'd be happy to go again.

The first time there and what can I say it is a dream

Cafeteria-style with a premium feel Block House understands marketing – but the food remains disappointing. Aside from quite passable steaks, hardly anything is freshly prepared here. Potato wedges, fries, baked potatoes, leaf spinach, and gratin are industrially produced and are simply deep-fried or "regenerated." You can clearly taste that the mashed potatoes aren't fresh. Beans and corn – typical canned goods – are seriously advertised as a vegetable side dish. The salad is nicely presented, but the dressing tastes so pungently of processed food that it's an insult to any fresh salad. The service also has its ups and downs: Some are friendly, others consistently ignore regulars. Drinks are overpriced – €3 for tap water. In other countries, this is free service. The portion sizes have been significantly reduced over time, for example, with the beef ribs, and even the fries are now noticeably cut back. The Wednesday special now costs €14.90, but offers only a tiny portion. The steaks are often so irregularly cut – and of inconsistent quality – that it's almost impossible to cook them to a reasonable degree – which also regularly goes wrong. The crowning glory: a roulade whose core was still frozen (this was on Jungfernstieg) – highly questionable under food regulations. And lunch here, in particular, regularly lasts far too long – you usually have to allow for almost an hour, and that's too long. For me, that's the limit. Anyone who praises this as "great food" – sorry, where else do you eat? Addendum to Block House's response: Unfortunately, the reaction to my detailed criticism confirms exactly what I experienced: Instead of addressing the specific issues—such as the frozen roulade, the industrial side dishes, the inconsistent steak quality, the long wait times, or the overpriced water—I was presented with a self-proclaimed text from the marketing department that glossed over itself and ignored my feedback. Particularly irritating: My criticism of the service was also simply ignored. Instead of addressing the weaknesses described, they simply referred to "first-class service"—as if I had never written anything else. This isn't an ability to accept criticism, but rather a blatant rejection. Anyone who treats honest feedback in this way unfortunately demonstrates that it's not about quality or dialogue, but about image cultivation. For me, this is further evidence that they're not listening, but rather fending off.

Edit 08/25: Last night everything was back to normal – as usual, good, attentive, friendly, and cheerful. 09/24: The kitchen has deteriorated EXTREMELY. On my last three visits, the steak was NEVER as I ordered it. Maybe ask the colleagues at Jungfernstieg how to grill a steak "medium rare." You can already say "extremely well done"...

A very pleasant place with friendly staff and delicious food. I got a table on a Wednesday evening without any problems; I was greeted warmly and served very quickly. The food was very good. I'd be happy to come back again if I get the chance.

I've been coming to Blockhouse regularly since childhood, now with my own family, and I have to say that the quality has seriously declined. Every time, you experience something new that's not the same. Today, there were four negative things: - First, the salad wasn't fresh, no cucumber, far too much dressing, and the pumpkin seeds were "soft." - The potato in the fillet was neither tasty nor soft. - The meat was cold, so the herb butter, which was still frozen, took forever to soften. - The meat in the Magic Burger was barely cooked and didn't look particularly appetizing. The vanilla ice cream doesn't taste good anymore, either. And what I personally find worst is the lava cake. Two weeks ago, we were at Block House in Volksdorf and was very surprised by the appearance of the lava cake, and today in Barmbek showed me that it wasn't an exception; something had obviously changed. The blueberry sauce had completely changed, from color to consistency to taste. A real shame! On the way back, I unfortunately discovered that in addition to the family spritzer, I was also charged for a large bottle of water that we didn't even have. Anything can happen, and it's human nature, but the prices have increased significantly over the years, which would be fine if the quality remained the same. I hope the quality will improve again and that we won't be disappointed every time, because at some point, even nostalgia loses its power.

Unfortunately, my bread was already cold. The potato was overcooked. The meat was very good. I waited almost 25 minutes for my food after the salad. All in all, it was okay.

I like going to Block House often, but the quality is declining. I ordered the meat medium, and it was raw in some places.

If we have the Greek waiter, it can only be a good evening! Such a child-friendly person, that's so great for us as parents! Going out to eat is often not fun with a child and the German crowd, but this is one of the few places where I can enjoy it. We always eat the same thing: we share a T-bone steak, and with a few exceptions, it's always exactly how we want it!

I have to say, I haven't had such good food in a long time. The staff was great, entertaining, and polite. A perfect blend of funny and polite. The ambiance was breathtaking, and so was the food. Wow, that's what I call art. The fries were good and the meat was as expected. I will definitely be back.

We were there with friends and children. Luckily, we got a seat right away. The service was super friendly and super child-friendly! Most importantly, of course, was the great food! We'd love to come back.

Great food in a great atmosphere. One of my favorite block houses in Hamburg. You get what you would expect to eat. Bloc House stop. Very solid kitchen. But somehow the staff here is the best. We have been here many times :)

I ate a 300 gram steak and it was grilled perfectly. The fries were great and the salad was very fresh and tasty. The service was really very attentive. It was just great all around

The cheeseburger is unfortunately disappointing, way too much sauce. Unfortunately, the price difference to McDonald's is too high. I would recommend spending €5 more and eating a good burger somewhere else instead. But the fries were at least good and the preparation was quick

I like to go to the Block House (Gänsemarkt) for lunch. Unfortunately, the staff in this (Barmbek) is not suitable when I have a home office and is only for pensioners who have forever. The bald employee in particular is extremely slow. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes from the time you order until the salad arrives and another 10 minutes until the main course arrives. In the same time, I've almost finished eating at the BH Gänsemarkt. My average visit to Bh Gänsemarkt lasts about 20-30 minutes. At Block House Barmbek it almost always takes me a full hour to eat exactly the same meal. Unfortunately, I think the employee mentioned often forgets things. Once he only noticed after I waved (after waiting 10 minutes) that I didn't have a salad yet. The other day I said I wanted to pay then he said okay and in the meantime he cleared a table and took orders from others and then re-set the cleared table. I then went to the checkout myself.

As always, very, very tasty! At the beginning, despite having a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes on the stairs, where it was very narrow and a bit awkward. The employees were very friendly. Unfortunately, it is always relatively loud at Blockhouse, so you can only carry on conversations to a limited extent, but this is always the case in all branches. Therefore only 3 stars for the ambience, but it is very comfortably furnished! We will come again.

I wasn't full. With a simple steak for just under €30, I would have liked to have at least had the plate somewhat filled with side dishes... In addition, the large steak was indistinguishable from the smaller, cheaper one. - not even from the waiter himself. Beer was reordered and not brought. Was then subsequently corrected on the invoice. It can happen but there really is a better way. Maybe someone will read it before the recession is deleted.

I was there yesterday with my family and we celebrated my little daughter's birthday! The service was unbeatable, the whole team went out of their way to provide our children with everything they could want. From a little fire show at the grill to little comforters because sitting is so incredibly boring 👀 The waiter was just an absolute dream! He has definitely played the game “Gastro” 10 times and has provided great customer service! It felt like you had been coming for ages!

The restaurant is very tastefully furnished, but fits the concept. The service was good. I ordered a fillet steak. The price of the steaks includes a baked potato and bread as standard. Since I didn't want to eat potatoes, I asked to swap the potatoes for grilled vegetables, which the service lady said was possible "for a small extra charge." Later on the bill the “small extra charge” was the full additional price for grilled vegetables. So you save the potato and earn extra money. I would have no objection at all to an additional charge of 1.00 or 2.00 euros as a service fee, but adding the full price of 4.50 euros is unbeatable in terms of audacity and greed. That's it for Block House. The meat was very good, the vegetables were very fatty, and the overall price was excessive.

The Block House in Barmbek, located right on the main street, offers a great dining experience. The restaurant is on the first floor and can be easily reached via stairs or by elevator. As soon as you enter the restaurant you feel at home. The conservative decor creates a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a relaxing afternoon or evening. Service: The service was outstanding. The waitress who served us was extremely friendly, courteous and always attentive. Her warm manner and charming smile made us feel welcome and in good hands. The order was taken quickly and professionally, so we could fully look forward to the meal. Eat: The highlight of our visit was the T-bone steak. With a proud weight of 610 grams, it was grilled to a perfect medium. The steak was wonderfully juicy, excellently seasoned and a real treat. The side dishes also tasted excellent and rounded off the main course perfectly. It was clearly noticeable that emphasis was placed on high-quality ingredients and careful preparation. Conclusion: Our visit to the Block House in Barmbek was a complete success. The combination of a pleasant atmosphere, first-class service and delicious food makes this restaurant an excellent address for steak lovers. We really enjoyed the afternoon and are already looking forward to our next visit.

My review concerns the Blockhouse Barmbek. My goodness, what a failure. Mr. Rumpsteck delivered, got MS Rumsteak. The waitress would have brought me a new steak, but actually I would have had to give the whole meal back! Wrong steak? OK, it can happen. The potato was so old that it was dry on the outside and brown and partly hard on the inside. I find it outrageous that something like this is put on the plate. I was back on the road after 15 minutes, still hungry but at 26!!! Euro poorer. The portions do not match the price in any way. The only bright spot was a friendly waitress. Blockhouse? You don't have to go there anymore.

After asking the waiter for medium rare, I saw the meat being rinsed under cold water and put back in the pan! HORRIBLE! I rejected that and got a new one with the desired degree of doneness without any problems. But really, what's the point of something like that; The store was well attended and overall we can recommend it. But the best times are over here too. Mainly old crowd and a few younger ones from the culture of the surrounding fitness studios, with bad table manners.

The managing director is very young, uninterested in customers, conversations with private individuals are more important to her than serving her guests, we go to all the log cabins in Germany but we have never experienced anything like this. It started when we ordered, people forgot to put even onions on the salad after requesting, no onions, no herb butter, then finally another waitress, we got everything. This log house is not recommended.

We visited our son in Hamburg at the weekend and ate here. Totally great service and the food was really good quality. We had a nice table with a view of the kitchen. We'll definitely be back next year and are already looking forward to it.

The Blockhous is located directly on a main road, but you don't notice much of it because the restaurant is on the first floor. The service is super friendly and attentive, the food was prepared quickly and deliciously and the drinks and dessert also came quickly and were superbly prepared. It's worth stopping here and having a delicious meal. We'll be back.

What can you say? For about 30 years I have enjoyed ordering a steak locally to take home. Happens about 6-7 times a year. English Grilled. Today I was told at the Blockhaus Barmbek that I couldn't get my grilled steak to take away. According to a law, raw meat cannot be taken out of the house. Hey, and the last 30 years? Anyone who goes to the Block House knows in advance what they can expect and what they will get. The Fuhle with outdoor dining was new for me (I hadn't been to the Fuhle for a long time). Food was OK - Block House - quality, service also O.K.

I usually go to the Dorotheenstrasse restaurant but I was around and wanted to try. Food was great as usual. Service could have been better this day. I had to repeat myself three times and still got the wrong order. It would be great if the service would repeat the order to confirm.

We were there with three families and four small children. Spanish, German and English speaking. A real challenge. Our waiter remained super relaxed and everything worked out great. The children were able to move around and no one complained. Thank you. Of course, the food was great as always. 👍

The portions are really small, so as a woman I can't get enough. I have to say that we actually tend to go to Block House in Barmbek, where the portions are not as small as in Bergedorf. We ate there with a small child on July 6th, 2024. We asked for 2-3 slices of cucumber for the toddler, with the intention of paying for them, of course, but the fact that we were charged a complete block of house salad for €5.40 is an absolute disgrace. I come from the catering industry myself. I would have served the cucumber slices for free, but even if I hadn't, I would never have charged a full salad for it. Unfortunately I only noticed this when I got home on the bill. I can't condone such a rip-off from a highly praised chain, there are much smaller steakhouses that put more heart and soul into the service!

I was there a few weeks ago on a Sunday afternoon and thought, since I'm on a short vacation, I'll treat myself to a fillet steak for once, and if so, then from the "experts" Blockhouse. It was ok, but nothing more, if anything less. Maybe I shouldn't have ordered the steak medium, but rather well done. It wasn't really hot, the baked potato and salad that came with it could have been a little more for the now very high price. Service and ambience top. The next Blockhouse visit is estimated to be in 4 years.

Very nice atmosphere, delicious food, very attentive and very polite staff. I was very positively impressed. Everything exemplary. Here, emphasis is still placed on training the staff in etiquette. The steak was of course delicious and excellently prepared (medium well). Definitely worth a visit. There were three of us and we had two steaks, a bowl, bruschetta, and ice cream for dessert. You should expect a little over €100 for three people.

Yesterday we had dinner at the Block House again after a long time. As usual, the food was of great quality and tasted great. Good meat, salad, garlic bread and potatoes or fries make you full and satisfied. I would particularly like to praise our table service. Extremely friendly, always asking about our satisfaction and our wishes without seeming fake or being exaggerated. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend this block house!

On the second attempt, my steak was cooked the way I wanted it and it was very tasty. However, last time I was very shocked by the new prices. Last time I paid €24.50 for my steak. Now it's over €30. Such a large increase is incomprehensible and I cannot and do not want to pay these prices again. We won't be coming back for the time being, because for the price, the service isn't enough. We celebrated my grandma's birthday with the family at the Block House. The food was very good! What is particularly worth highlighting is the service: we were there with 2 small children. Everyone was very friendly to the children, there was something to paint, the children got their food first and at the end there were even soap bubbles. A birthday song was played for my grandma, there was champagne and one of the waiters took a photo of us, printed it out and my grandma was able to take it home with her. Many thanks to the entire Block House team for this great day!

Update April 20, 2024: After a very friendly and helpful phone call with the head office, we dared to make another visit today. The service today was really good - despite the house being full and the manager herself took good care of us. The quality of the food couldn't be faulted. Update March 9, 2024: DISAPPOINTING! After prices have risen incredibly in the last 12 months, portions are getting smaller linearly. Unfortunately, today there is also the outrageous service. The waitress blamed us for an error in the kitchen as an order error. Of course...the customer who pays the price is always to blame first. Incomprehensible. It's unfortunate that Block is no longer committed to making customers happy. Excellent Corona controls, great service and outstanding food on New Year's Eve. Despite the time limit, you didn't feel rushed.

Today, April 17, 2024 12:30 p.m. Lunch, rump steak, mushroom sauce, baked potato, in front of it a salad plate with Frensch dressing. Coffee afterwards. Today was the PERFECTION you could ever wish for; including service. Note: Not every lunch menu gets full marks, today definitely. Tip to the Blockhaus superiors. Please pay attention to the steak toppings. The perfection is/would be EXCLUSIVELY: Spinach or beans or mushrooms. What doesn't go well at all in this case are lentils or Hungarian VEGETABLES - tried everything. Thanks again for today's 5 star lunch and top sirloin steak!!! My second time in Block House but this time in another part of Hamburg. Just to see is all are the same quality and experience. Agnus Steak asked medium and medium I recived, little bit needed to solt it but it was overall good. Corn to sweet, sallad perfect juicy and fresh, nice dressing. Baked potato dry, it was maybe too long stayed warmed up, not possible to bake this huge potato in 5 minutes. Service was fast, polite and charming.

The restaurant makes a neat, tidy impression. The typical block house ambience invites you to enjoy the beef specialties. The service is attentive, friendly and of course dressed accurately in TOP uniforms. I was absolutely impressed by the service employee as he poured the beer into the glass. Elegant, perfect and with a professionalism that I have never seen before. 5 ⭐️ for the young man. Beforehand I ate carrot and ginger soup. Served hot with fresh carrot and ginger flavors and fresh parsley. For the soup 5⭐️ in advance. For steak, I ordered an Irish Hereford entrecote with French fries and a fresh mixed salad with American dressing. The salad, extremely fresh with a subtle tarragon note. Fries super freshly fried, hot and crispy. The garlic baguette is also crispy, with a not too strong garlic note. I ordered the steak, medium rare, i.e. 53/54 degrees core temperature. Perfectly fried in advance, even completely without a gray edge, 5⭐️ for the grill master, grilled to perfection. Not everyone can do that. Distinct but not bitter roasted aromas. Very fine, yet intense fresh beef flavor. Almost too little fat for an entrecote, but appropriate for the breed. Still tender in texture, juicy, pleasant to the bite. Typical Irish Hereford beef. In my opinion, one of the best cattle breeds. Finally, a freshly baked Belgian waffle with hot cherries and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Also very, very tasty. Thank you for the pleasant hour with you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ definitely.

As usual, the atmosphere was nice, the food was perfectly fine, but unfortunately the service was non-existent. With three children, the first contact and drinks at the table only took place after 20 minutes (with less than 50% occupancy), no questions were asked, we even had dessert, the bill only came after we had all gotten up and dressed. A pity.

As usual at Block House Barmbek, very warm welcome, good table by the window. The food & drinks were good as expected (a large Pilsner on the menu would be great). We know what to expect and that's exactly why we like going to the Block House. Everything is becoming more expensive, and the employees can't help the tax increase, even if Eugen has enough in his pocket. We'll be back because of the good food, great team and good service!

The food is really good, but the price-performance ratio is not good at all. When, in addition to a mediocrely motivated waitress, the next generation of young people shouts their opinion to me without being asked from one of the many neighboring daycare tables, this very special atmosphere (and that leads to devaluation) doesn't really fit in with the 30-40 euros I spend You can shell out for a steak - without getting really full on top of everything else. But the few times I still feel uncomfortable in the Blockhouse, at least it tastes good. Anyway.

We answered honestly when asked how the food was. Apparently we didn't like the answer or the two nos that we didn't want coffee. Afterwards we were ignored and there was no question as to whether we would like to drink anything else. It was better for two people to take care of other guests. The quality is no longer what I was used to years ago. That was our last visit.
