Janos in Ruhpolding

We sat outside in the sun and just had a drink. The service didn't forget us, though. Very friendly and attentive.

I ordered a Balkan plate, which the menu outside said cost €20.90 and was supposed to include grilled bacon. When it arrived, it didn't have any bacon and cost €21.90. Unfortunately, I only noticed this outside, and I don't feel like arguing. Overall, the service wasn't the friendliest, and the food had a lot of room for improvement.

Sorry, the food is really bad. There were three of us, and we all had stomach aches. It's all frozen ready-made food. But the prices... a ready-made hamburger in a supermarket roll with supermarket fries costs €20. We were really hungry after the hike, so we paid for it with stomach aches. Never again. A good rule of thumb says that food that comes quickly can't be good. A lesson for me.

Very poor service from the owner, when I asked if I could also get mayonnaise, he literally growled and gave me a snarl that they do have it but then didn't bring anything. Fries were fried very dry with a lot of salt on them and my wife had Hungarian goulash, but it was like canned dog food. We made it clear to him that everything was not tasty, we paid and were just barely thrown out. This restaurant just wants to serve you, pay for it as quickly as possible and get you out of there as quickly as possible.

What I hate the most is when they bring us food unevenly, one dish arrives immediately, and the other only after ten minutes. You don't even know whether to go eat alone or wait until the other dish is brought and your dish has already cooled down, if we wanted to eat separately, they probably wouldn't have come together, the prices are absolutely too high, for example, turkey toast costs €18.50, and the dish had no special taste, it was completely neutral not only mine but also my boyfriend's, unfortunately we wouldn't be back.

We ate here again and were very satisfied. Everything came quickly and tasted great! The service was friendly, and we have nothing to complain about.

Had dinner at Janos yesterday. First of all, everything was perfect. No waiting time and friendly service. The food was delicious, and the portion size is a little too small for you to "walk away" from. And everything at a really good price. So, Janos is definitely on the itinerary for our next vacation here in Ruhpolding.

Very tasty Hungarian specialties. Plus a large pizza. The homemade pizza is absolutely amazing. The pizza is large and well-topped. Unfortunately, the dough wasn't quite crispy enough.

We had one schnitzel with fries and one chicken schnitzel + pork schnitzel with fries and rice. The chicken schnitzel was very dry. The fries were very soggy and barely salted. One dish was incorrectly packaged, and the fries had mayonnaise on them, which was neither ordered nor requested. We chose the dishes online and picked them up. When we picked them up, we had to pay €3 more per dish. The total price of €42 is completely overpriced. The wait time was almost an hour.

I can't comment on the quality of the food. We didn't get that far. We reserved a table for two by phone at lunchtime. When we arrived that evening, we were rudely asked if we had a reservation. After confirming this, we were shown to a cramped side room. The menu arrived on the table after five minutes. After half an hour, when no one came to take our order, we left. The service is not recommended.

The restaurant is right on the street, so it's noisy, but you can also sit inside and enjoy food and drinks. The price-performance ratio is okay; the staff seem a bit stressed but friendly.

The restaurant is located in a traffic-calmed zone. We and our three small dogs were escorted to a quiet table inside. The service was very friendly, and the dishes arrived quickly. The garlic soup, the Balkan plate, and the cevapcici were all delicious. We would be happy to come back.

I really can't recommend this restaurant. The service was abysmal, especially the older gentleman who was grumpy and unfriendly. When I couldn't find my wallet right away, he waved the debit card machine in my face in annoyance. The Balkan dishes had a really bad aftertaste. Some of the meat was raw. Never again!

This was our second time on vacation in Ruhpolding, and we knew we had to go back to Janos! The food was delicious. The service was quick and friendly. It's beautifully located in Ruhpolding's shopping arcade and is always worth a visit.

We had beef goulash, fatty meat, and no seasoning. It shouldn't be called Hungarian.

No, I can't recommend this restaurant for the food. The hussar platter I ordered wasn't my cup of tea, nor was the gypsy rice; I couldn't enjoy it. The hussar steak was too dry. My wife had Hungarian-style goulash, and the meat still had veins and tendons. The spaetzle weren't salted and tasted bland. Overall, it wasn't good. You can have a drink, but I wouldn't order anything else there.

Die hier gebotene Leistung ist eine Frechheit.Wir haben die Leber probiert und einen Balkanteller. Der Balkanteller bestand aus 2 Tütencevapcici ,einer Scheibe gegrillter Frühstücksaufschnit der den Grillspeck verkörpern sollte und 2 Geflügelspießchen !! die inne drin noch blutig waren.Das ganze für knapp 22€ selbstverständlich ohne Belagen-Salat der nochmals saftig extra berechnet wurde.Das Gericht meiner Frau war ähnlich. Man scheint Wert auf gleichbleibende Quallität zu legen. Das Personal war so verpeilt das gleich 2x Die falsche Bestellung serviert wurde. Nie wieder!!!!Unterste Schublade

If you are not hungry, I can recommend this place. The sign on the door says “Hot food 12pm-10pm”. When we arrived at 4:30 p.m. it said the kitchen wouldn't open until 6:00 p.m. and when we arrived at 9:30 p.m. the kitchen was already closed. The way the kitchen works makes me want to go on vacation. Very very weak.

We were there several times and, as always, we were very impressed. The food is very tasty and we always feel very comfortable there. We'd love to come back.

We have been going to Ruhpolding on and off for several years now and have eaten in this restaurant several times. Unfortunately, it has to be said that the business has clearly deteriorated, which is why our last visit two weeks ago will also have been the last. The food was on the table after a whopping 5 minutes, which actually says it all. The chicken breast was still acceptable, but that was it. Breaded ready-made schnitzel from the freezer, the Djuvec rice was mush, the fries were pale and soft and the herb butter could have been sprayed cream. In addition, the hot plate was handed to our 12-year-old without comment instead of being placed in front of the guest, so that she almost spread the whole thing across the table before the first bite. Last but not least the bill, 3 dishes + 3 drinks, 60€. Thank you too.

Just plain unfriendly... I asked for a place, they said everything was reserved but we could sit somewhere, he then ran off, served other guests and when we asked him where we could sit down he just said we should just join us somewhere set. This operator should be fired, an absolute accelerator of bankruptcies. Not recommended!

The food at Janos was very tasty!! It was packed, but we had to wait a bit before we had a table for four. Highly recommended. The hosts are a bit older and are simply exhausted at 9 p.m. But that doesn't matter, it's just human. Thank you.

The staff was not organized and didn't even come to take the order. After waiting half an hour we had to go to the counter to order. We got one beer in our hands and waited in vain for the second one, so we picked it up ourselves. The food was bad, the fries were soggy, the boiled potatoes were glassy. The meat dish wasn't cooked through. That was a waste of money.

We had dinner there last Friday. Unfortunately the table was a bit sticky and the staff didn't really care. We ordered the rump steak twice with fries and extra mayonnaise. The dishes looked a bit carelessly prepared and the mayonnaise was completely forgotten. It's a shame, for the price of €26.90 each we would have liked a little more.

The restaurant is rustic and located on a relatively busy street. The service was quick, but unfortunately that was the only plus point. Little friendliness and a bit of “hush hush”. Unfortunately there are no longer any Langos on the map. We chose two dishes from the Hungarian menu, a children's dish and a burger dish. The dishes came quickly, but completely loveless. The products themselves are mostly convenience and lower third in quality. Example: the paprika cream schnitzel...two pieces of meat, sauce, I had potatoes and a leaf of salad instead of spaetzle...for 19€. No real spiciness or flavor in the sauce and the potatoes were unfortunately totally watery. After the meal, when asked, we told the waiter that we thought the food was “OK”, but nothing more. The reaction was a shrug of the shoulders and the presentation of the bill. It's a shame...that way you definitely won't see your guests a second time.

We ate here with our children today. The service made a rather bored and unfriendly impression. They were probably just doing their job, okay. We found the food to be neither of high quality nor tasty. I can probably eat better in any canteen. Even our criticism was neither responded to nor apologized for. Instead, we were handed the bill with a shrug of the shoulders. It's a shame, because given the many positive reviews, it must have been good at one time.

The food itself was okay, but the portions (cordon bleu) were far too expensive. I showed friends photos and even they wouldn't spend more than 13 or 14 euros for this amount. Unfortunately, just under 19 euros is really too much for that little bit

Essen war gut und schmackhaft - sehr nette Bedienung - Preis war okay- Haben draußen gesessen ! Obwohl an der Straße gelegen sitzt man hier doch recht gut! Die umliegenden Gebäude machen ein schönes Ambiente. Ein Besuch lohnt sich.

Ein kleines Lokal gleich gegenüber meines Hotels, neben den Klassikern ist man auf ungarische Küche aus. Das ist mal was neues. Innen haben wir alte Holztische und Sessel. Die Deko im Lokal sieht aber nett aus, wie z.B die getrockneten Paprika, welche von der Decke hängen. Im freien kann man auch sitzen, ist dann aber direkt an einer viel befahrenen Straße. Aufgrund der zahlreichen Bewertungen, welche eine Reservierung empfehlen, habe ich dies gemacht. Es erweist sich als unnötig. Okay, die Fußball-EM fängt heute an. Da habe die Germanen keine Zeit zum Essen gehen. Wenn ich schon mal bei einen Ungarn bin, muss ich auch ungarisch essen, und freue mich auf den großzügigen Einsatz von Paprika und einer gewissen Schärfe. Einmal Puszta Nudeln sollen es werden. Aufgrund der Bilder die ich mir angesehen habe, verzichte ich auf eine Suppe, was eine gute Idee war. Denn nach nicht allzu langer Zeit bringt der Chef eine ordentliche Pfanne daher. Also die Portionen sind groß, das steht schon mal fest. Die Nudeln sind ordentlich bissfest, die Putenstück okay. Aber das ganze hat keinen richtigen Geschmack. Ich sehe den Paprika in der Soße, und auch die Champignons. Man schmeckt sie aber nicht. Und von Schärfe ist schon mal gar keine Spur. Da die Preise typisch für die Gegend sind, war ich dann doch etwas enttäuscht. Überhaupt nichts gibt’s am schnellen, freundlichen, und aufmerksamen Service auszusetzen. Das wurde auch schon oft geschrieben und stimmt. Hier aber trotzdem nur 3/5.

A small restaurant right opposite my hotel, in addition to the classics, they're looking for Hungarian cuisine. This is something new. Inside we have old wooden tables and armchairs. The decoration in the restaurant looks nice, such as the dried peppers hanging from the ceiling. You can also sit outside, but then you are right on a busy street. Because of the numerous reviews recommending a reservation, I did so. It turns out to be unnecessary. Okay, the European Football Championship starts today. The Germans don't have time to go out to eat. Whenever I'm with a Hungarian, I have to eat Hungarian, and I look forward to the generous use of paprika and a certain spiciness. It should be Puszta noodles once. Based on the pictures I looked at, I skipped the soup, which was a good idea. Because after not too long the boss brings out a decent pan. So the portions are big, that's for sure. The noodles are al dente, the pieces of turkey are okay. But the whole thing has no real taste. I see the peppers in the sauce, and also the mushrooms. But you can't taste them. And there is no trace of sharpness at all. Since the prices are typical for the area, I was a bit disappointed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the fast, friendly and attentive service. This has been written many times and is true. But still only 3/5 here.

Large portions and delicious food. We ate Hungarian paprika with knöpfle and turkey schnitzel with asparagus and potatoes. Both are recommended.

Finally a restaurant where everything fits, the food is great, the furnishings are cozy, the service is friendly, the food is quick... There were 8 of us, 8 different meals, 8 happy guests 🥰 Young and old can still meet here in a relaxed atmosphere.

Leute das taugt nicht. Fades Essen ohne jede Würze, ein paar Stücke rohe Zwiebel als Gemüsebeilage und ein Klecks ekelhafte Industrie-Majo. Auch bei den Pasta-Gerichten Enttäuschung pur, andere Nudeln als in Karte angebunden absolut fade. Dafür Preise für alle Gerichte über dem örtlichen Durchschnitt. Funktioniert wohl nur aufgrund der Lage mit Touristen als Laufkundschaft. Guys, that's no good. Bland food without any taste, a few pieces of raw onion as a vegetable side dish and a blob of disgusting industrial mayo. The pasta dishes were also pure disappointment, other pastas than those listed on the menu were absolutely bland. Prices for all dishes are above the local average. Probably only works because of the location with tourists as walk-in customers.

Had a delicious Hungarian dinner in a beautiful Ruhpoldinger restaurant!

Booked a table the day before and received email conformation the day of visit. The booking was for 11 people from a ski team with disabilities (blind etc...). When we arrived they had obviously had lots of walk in people who they prioritised over the booking. The man we spoke to was rude and told us "No English, get out". Did not offer us a table in an hour, which would have been possible, just get out. Disgusting!
