Very nice ambiance at Herderplatz, service was okay, but unfortunately, I was unlucky with the daily special, "Argentinean rump steak" – quite tough, stringy, and rare rather than medium. They didn't have a steak knife, so I had to "tear" the edible part to pieces with a blunt table knife. For dessert, there was a run-of-the-mill Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancake) – at least the dark beer tasted delicious.

After we couldn't get anything at Scharfe Ecke (the kitchen closes at 7:30 p.m. even on Saturdays?!) and Siechenbräu was unable to serve us due to a lack of staff, we ended up at Jagemann's with no expectations and were very pleasantly surprised! The dark beer goulash was extremely flavorful. The meat was incredibly tender and fell apart as soon as it was skewered. The black pudding and sauerkraut were delicious, and the fried dumplings were nice and crispy. Definitely recommended for fans of traditional German cuisine.

A busy restaurant on Herderplatz, where Goethe is said to have dined, which is why so many people come today. It's packed, so reservations are recommended. I didn't, but I was still warmly welcomed and, after a short wait, was shown to my table. I had a rice dish with pumpkin and chicken. The food was solid, a bit too salty. Service was very attentive despite the crowds. The atmosphere was quaint. A good choice for Weimar, and the price was reasonable.

The food was very good. What bothered me was that the waitress wrote down an incorrect order for my companion. When we pointed this out, she pretended the wrong dish had been ordered. There were four of us, and it's rare for everyone to have misheard. The waitress should have simply admitted her mistake.

We pre-ordered there on June 21st and then decided to eat in the beer garden because of the great weather. Everything was perfect.

I'm quite surprised by the positive reviews, and the only explanation I can think of is that perhaps a change of management has taken place in the meantime. In any case, we visited the restaurant on July 19, 2025, and left after an hour because, despite repeated requests, no food (dark beer goulash/spiced meat) had been served. Although the restaurant was busy, there was some discontent among those around us about the wait times. In my opinion, the kitchen is completely overwhelmed...

We went there for dinner and were very lucky to meet the chef, Daniel Bergter. He gave us fantastic advice, and we were absolutely thrilled with the quality of the food, despite the large crowds. We went there for the first time today. It was absolutely wonderful. Very nice service, attentive and friendly with a smile 👍. We had the homemade spiced meat for starters. It was really good ☺️ For my main course, my husband had buttery tender ox cheeks with delicious red cabbage and amazing Thuringian dumplings. They had a nice amount of sauce on them 😄. I had the mini rösti with salad and salmon. It was very, very tasty. Unfortunately, there were only two small rösti. I would have liked two more. Not to mention the homemade organic lemonade...😋 Conclusion: A highly recommended restaurant, and we would love to come back. Until then, have a great time!

We got a wonderful outdoor spot. The food was delicious. The service was extremely friendly. We also really enjoyed the view of the church and the square. Afterwards, we continued our sightseeing with renewed energy.

We searched for a long time for a nice restaurant in Weimar. We can't confirm the positive reviews for this one. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty. We asked if we could get a table for two. The young woman wanted to seat us at a bar table in a small alcove, even though almost all the other tables were free. When our drink order came, we discovered that the draft wheat beer was unfortunately uncooled. The schnitzel and fries were disappointing: very small, tasteless, and poorly presented. The fries weren't seasoned at all. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Great location at Herderplatz in Weimar! Excellent price-performance ratio!

Had dinner with several people and found that the quality of the food was very poor. Ready-made sauce, ox cheeks were overcooked and over-seasoned, pasta was mushy, the asparagus had no taste, red cabbage was way too sour from the vinegar. Roulade salted and filled with minced pork. Loveless overall. The champagne glass came half full, the staff was unmotivated. Ask us where all the good reviews come from.

We were happy to get a very comfortable corner seat even though we hadn't made a reservation. The service was extremely personable, courteous and friendly and we were quickly provided with drinks. So far so good. The food also came much quicker than expected and what can I say, I didn't expect that. We hadn't read any reviews, but went to Jagemanns spontaneously, otherwise I might have been better prepared. I can't find any expression that does it justice. The spinach dumplings were absolutely amazing! My husband was also very happy with his goulash and the apple strudel I ordered for dessert was also excellent. Unfortunately I'm running out of superlatives, the food is worth every cent.

Sat romantically outside and enjoyed the attractive surroundings. The service staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The quality of the food was mediocre as the red cabbage for the black beer goulash was overcooked. The meat, on the other hand, was tender and the goulash was flawless.

On March 24th, 2025, the two of us visited this restaurant. My husband had fried trout with fried potatoes and salad and I had a very tasty roulade with fantastic red cabbage and two delicious dumplings. The service was very friendly, the decor was rustic and the food was excellent. We will happily think of the JAGEMANN when we visit Weimar again

We didn't have reservations and the restaurant was full. The lady who received us told us that it was possible to eat at the bar on the 1st floor if we wanted, but on the first floor the waiters managed to find us a table. Delicious meal although we had to wait a bit. To recommend.

Wir waren in den letzten Jahren wiederholt im Jagemanns essen und haben auch dieses Mal wieder gut gegessen. Allerdings vermissten wir auf der Karte irgendetwas Besonderes. Auch die Zubereitung der gewählten Speisen war soweit in Ordnung, aber nicht so, dass wir uns bald nach einer Wiederholung sehnen würden. Hier wünschen wir uns fürs nächste Mal etwas mehr Inspiration.

Wir waren uns aufgrund der durchschnittlichen Bewertung im Vorfeld unsicher, ob wir an unserem letzten Abend im Jagemanns oder doch woanders essen gehen sollten. Was soll ich sagen? Wir wollten heimisches Essen und haben unsere Entscheidung für das Jagemanns nicht bereut. Das Schwarzbiergulasch war butterweich und einfach perfekt abgeschmeckt. Der Rotkohl war cremig und geschmacklich top. Und auch die Klöße schmeckten sehr gut. Wir sind mehr als satt geworden. Die Portionen waren wirklich groß, wir haben es - obwohl wir gute Esser sind - kaum geschafft. Und auch das Essen auf den Nachbartischen sah extrem gut aus. Allgemein hörte man nur Lob und es waren stets große Portionen. Auch über den Service können wir nur Gutes berichten. Schnell, freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Unser Weihnachtsmittagessen war leider enttäuschend. Wir wurden unhöflich darauf hingewiesen, dass wir nur eine Stunde Zeit hätten und keine Vorspeise mehr bestellen könnten. Das Essen kam zwar nach einer halben Stunde, war jedoch übermäßig salzig. Es wirkte, als wolle man uns dazu bringen, mehr Getränke zu bestellen. Angesichts der begrenzten Zeit und der Qualität des Essens können wir das Restaurant leider nicht empfehlen. Möglicherweise war das Personal an Weihnachten überlastet, aber ein Konzeptwechsel wäre in diesem Fall ratsam.

It turned out that due to the number of people we couldn't check the bill until the next day. We went to the restaurant today to explain and solve the problem and they paid attention to us. I don't recommend anyone to go to this place as they don't treat customers with respect, especially after such a special date. / Yesterday I went to celebrate my birthday with my family at this restaurant. Check the entire invoice before paying. Unfortunately, after paying the bill and spontaneously paying the 5% staff service charge in cash, we discovered that we had been charged for 5 additional drinks. In total we were charged €30 more on the bill. Drinks we didn't drink. The next day we complained but the restaurant was not interested in resolving the matter because after all they have no way of knowing whether we drank the drinks or not. Anyway... bad luck for the customer who wanted to spend a cozy Christmas evening with his family. Zero trust in Jagemanns.

I was in Weimar and was here for the first time. The trout was incredibly tasty and I had to come back again. The chicken salad was fantastic! I will come back to eat here on my next visit. The service was perfect, the atmosphere was right. See you next time.

I had booked seats for a larger group here as part of a conference. We received a group ticket in advance for pre-selection. Everyone was enthusiastic about the good Thuringian cuisine and also found the ambience very nice. We will be happy to come back.

A really good place to enjoy Thuringian home cooking. We felt very comfortable and very welcome. Even though it was very full, the service tried very hard to accommodate us.
