We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The entire team ensured we had a wonderful two-night stay. Thank you so much! We would love to come back again.

We were absolutely thrilled with the Fackelgarten. From the moment you arrive, you can feel the warm atmosphere and the attention to detail with which this hotel is run. The entire staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive; you immediately feel welcome and perfectly at ease. The location is idyllic, right on the Elde River with a stunning view. Whether at breakfast or in the restaurant in the evening, the view of the water creates a truly special atmosphere. The hotel is stylishly furnished, meticulously maintained, and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was an absolute highlight for us! We've never experienced anything like it: an extraordinary selection of fresh, regional, and beautifully presented dishes, every detail perfectly coordinated. You can tell that quality, passion, and hospitality are paramount here. The restaurant also delighted us: outstanding cuisine, creative dishes, excellent quality, and service that perfectly complements the food. Everything is just right, from the first coffee in the morning to the last glass of wine in the evening. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend the Fackelgarten!

We made a reservation at the restaurant on a weekday for our girls' night out, and all we can say is, WOW! The food was top-notch and perfectly balanced. I can't think of anything else in the area that could match the quality and taste. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The value for money was 100% spot on! A fine restaurant in Plau am See, right on the Elde River. It's priced upscale, but you get what you'd expect. We really enjoyed it and the food was delicious. We'd be happy to come back.

We visited the restaurant for the evening business. Spontaneously. August 1, 2025. It was supposed to be a cozy birthday gathering. But unfortunately, a few hours later, it turned into hell.

We ate at the restaurant. It had a wonderful location, but it was more show than substance. Gold cutlery, but no beer mats (also for bee repelling). We don't need to go back.

We visited the restaurant again because we were very satisfied last time – and the food was delicious this time too. Unfortunately, our impression was somewhat dampened by the service. We wanted to celebrate our children's report cards with their grandparents. When the children were excitedly trying to choose their seats, the waitress gave them rather harsh instructions about where to sit. The tone was inappropriately strict – especially at a time that should have been festive and familiar for us. Finally, when we tried to order something else, we were clearly told that we had to hurry because the table would soon be full again. Here, too, a friendlier tone would have made a big difference. It's a shame – as I said, the food was very good, but the atmosphere was unfortunately dampened by the way we, the guests, were treated.

A wonderful place to escape from everyday life. We spent a short break at the Fackelgarten and were thrilled. The hotel has 8 rooms; we had a bunk with a view over the restaurant all the way to the lighthouse. The restaurant was definitely the highlight. Our palates were spoiled by the fine cuisine. The breakfast was remarkable. You walk in in the morning, are warmly greeted, sit down, and are fully served. No annoying getting up to get to a buffet. Everything is brought to your table. Everyone, from the chef to the housekeeping staff, is incredibly friendly and open for small conversation. We felt so at home that we are visiting the Fackelgarten again in October.

We've finally found a restaurant in Plau that stands out from the rest. Beautifully located right on the water, modern and newly built, with stylish decor. Excellent, attentive service. A small, very ambitious menu. We chose several different appetizers. The flame-grilled salmon with butter foam was my highlight. Succulent salmon with a crunch in a cream of butter and fine oil, simply fantastic. The grilled beef tartare wasn't grilled in my opinion, but it was very well seasoned and had a light truffle note from the sauce; excellent. I would happily eat here again anytime.

A beautifully situated waterfront restaurant with a very focused menu, sophisticated dishes, and friendly, attentive service. Both the zander and the salmon slices were delicious. The desserts are imaginatively composed and quite unusual. I would gladly return anytime for a harmonious meal.

We spent one night here and were thrilled! A prime location and incredibly stylish and lovingly furnished. It's clear that the couple who run the place truly enjoy being good hosts. The highlight was breakfast on the terrace right on the canal with a view of the lock. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the restaurant, but we'll definitely do that on our next visit!

We stayed here for five days and had dinner in the restaurant twice. The hotel is very good, and the breakfast is outstanding. You are served at your table in a relaxed atmosphere, and the variety is unparalleled: cheese, sausage, fruit, egg dishes, nuts, lovingly prepared dips and yogurts, all in small, bite-sized portions, yet so plentiful that it keeps you full until the afternoon. The food in the restaurant is a dream: sophisticated and delicious, with a great selection and truly top-class service. Of course, you pay more for it than in the surrounding restaurants, but it's worth every cent. The staff are cheerful, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed, enhanced by the chilled music. We highly recommend a stay at the Fackelgarten.

The location and service are perfect. The prices are above average. The menu isn't very imaginative either. But the setting is great and it's worth just sitting here.

We were just there without our children and at the observation tower at the harbor. We then found a really cozy spot right by the water in the torch garden. We took a seat, despite the dirty dishes left by the previous guests, which wasn't a problem at all, and enjoyed the atmosphere. After making our choice, we waited for service. And waited. Guests were served from time to time, but afterwards, there was no indication, either through eye contact or gestures, that they would be served soon. They were simply left sitting. My wife quietly smoked a cigarette, went to the restroom, and I noticed at the next table that they had been waiting for the bill for a long time. A lively conversation ensued between the couple, asking if they wanted to pay up front. When the couple finally left, to pay at the bar, I looked at my wife and offered to go somewhere else. We decided to leave, as the service was apparently overwhelmed, and we were still sitting at a table full of dirty dishes. On the way out, a server approached me, and I told her it was a shame you hadn't found time for us. We would have come now, and if we didn't have time, then that's just how it was. And we had only waited 10 minutes, she explained. We left without comment. Dear server, parents who have time together enjoy every second. Unfortunately, it wasn't 10 minutes. At least the dirty dishes could have been cleared away. Of course, we would have been willing to pay your hefty prices. A tapas platter for two, wine, and a soft drink for €65 is justified if everything is right. Unfortunately, you weren't able to do that today. The anti-customer remark at the end was the icing on the cake. Unfortunately, you somewhat failed us this evening.

We stayed at the hotel for a few nights and found the owner and staff to be absolutely lovely, friendly, and personable. The breakfast was delicious and perfectly adequate, and upon arrival, we had a lovely evening by the water and were able to watch the swallows. The room itself (room 13) was relatively small, but okay. We noticed that there were earplugs in the hallway and thought this would be a nice touch if a neighbor snored loudly. We thought it was probably just the thin walls, but we didn't hear anything from the neighbors. However, we felt a small tremor almost every time a car drove past the building. So, there are small tremors. Why they have metal tables next to the bed, I have no idea. If there's a glass or bottle on it, it naturally makes a noise as the tremors travel through the room. Furthermore, our first impression of the room was overshadowed by the smell. It smelled like someone had just cleaned the windows. It was really pungent. But it was coming from the toilet, which had a bottle of air freshener in it. The next day, we had allergic symptoms that we couldn't explain. ChatGPT then identified this bottle as the culprit. We reported it to the manager, though. So, it all sounds negative, but because of the location and so on, we would come back.

We went to the Fackelgarten restaurant in Plau am See today and it was a thoroughly successful visit! The modern, cozy ambience right on the water is really something special, the view of the Elde and the historic lift bridge makes the stay unique. The river terrace in particular invites you to linger, whether for a relaxed lunch or a coffee in the sun. The food was, as always, excellent: fresh, creative, with a regional twist and lovingly prepared. The service was also friendly, attentive and quick; we felt very welcome and were able to simply enjoy ourselves. The menu offers something for everyone, even vegetarians will get their money's worth. Price-performance ratio is absolutely right, and the special flair makes the visit a real experience. A small downside: the delicious bread from Hannes, which we were looking forward to, is unfortunately only available in the evening, and we missed it a little at lunchtime. But that's really complaining at a high level! We will definitely come back and can recommend the Fackelgarten restaurant to anyone who is looking for a special time out in Plau am See. A wonderful small, fine hotel. Excellent cuisine, as is the service. Rarely have such a good breakfast, it is served at the table. The location right on the water is also wonderful, especially when you can enjoy the terrace.

We were there for a week and from the first contact with the owner we felt like welcome friends and not, as is usually the case, like strangers! The ❤️ manner in which guests are treated, exemplified by the owners and adapted by the employees, is particularly worthy of mention and can hardly be topped. You immediately notice that you look forward to meeting other people here. The furnishings in the rooms, as well as in the restaurant area, which have been lovingly put together down to the last detail, are also worth mentioning. Here everyone does their job 100%. We looked forward to the unusual and great breakfast every morning, including an explanation of all the delicious things that were served at the table (!). Dinner was a culinary highlight. Directly at the lift bridge. Very romantic location for chilling by the water with a path along the water to the lighthouse as a viewing tower. Harbor with opportunities to linger, whether by the water or in the many small restaurants and cafes. Hotel just not suitable for people who have difficulty climbing stairs. You can also get to the restaurant with a walker. Very family friendly.

I met my partner that evening and we have been going to the torch garden regularly ever since and it is always a highlight for us ♡ The food is excellent, the location is a dream. We quickly decided to have lunch in the torch garden. Despite the tables being reserved, we were allowed to sit down. We ate excellently, everything was delicious, very friendly staff. We liked the atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

Rating includes only the experience in the restaurant. This was my second time in the torch garden with my family. The prices are already high. But okay, the location is just great and the atmosphere is very upscale and pleasant. You just pay for that. The service was very courteous, friendly and neat both times. (Personally, I'm bothered by sloppy, pierced waitresses in restaurants.) Now about the food: The tapa plate that everyone in Plau is talking about is really awesome!!!! Versatile, unusual and to feast on. 24 euros for one person, okay. But as soon as we get to the main courses, things go downhill for us. Sometimes we feel like we want too much. Of course the dishes are innovative. But here a little foam and there a crumb and another tirili. This doesn't fill you up and confuses the palate. Both times I had fish that was always too dry and somehow tasteless in all the trimmings. Sometimes less is more.

We (60 and 64 years old) spent our short vacation at the Hotel Fackelgarten in Plau am See. We received a very friendly welcome at reception and were given double room number 13 on the first floor. The room faces the street (cobblestones). The small bathroom has no natural light, but has a nice shower. Unfortunately the room doesn't have any overhead lighting, so it was a little dark. You had to close the curtains so that the neighbors couldn't see in (even in daylight). All in all, the room was quite small, but still attractive. To be sure that you park your car in the local area, it is advisable to book a parking space for €9.00 per day. Breakfast is served in the attached restaurant. It is brought to the table and is very diverse, high quality and very tasty. Any allergies that may exist are taken into account and the breakfast is adapted accordingly. Egg dishes can be ordered personally and are freshly prepared. There was also coffee, tea, juices, etc. We visited the restaurant twice in the evening and ate there. You should definitely reserve a table, especially if the terrace area is not available due to weather. The menu may be a little small, but the dishes we chose were high quality and we really enjoyed them. The service in the hotel was also good and the staff were friendly and helpful. Conclusion: We really enjoyed our stay in the torch garden, we were particularly impressed by the breakfast and dinner. And if you can still use the terrace on warm days, it's even more worth it.

We were in both the hotel and the restaurant. The staff (in all departments) and the owners are very friendly and warm. You immediately feel welcome. There is always positivity and a pinch of humor. Breakfast is served at the table. It is prepared with a lot of love and personal wishes are taken into account. The concept prevents food waste and ensures peace and quiet as there is no “buffet operation”. The cuisine in the restaurant is very delicious and rich. The map contains special features that you won't find anywhere else. It's worth every penny. Great emphasis is placed on seasonal and regional dishes. However, you should know that due to the central location there are no dedicated parking spaces. But there are options within walking distance. Since this is a small hotel there is no lobby or lounges. The rooms are modern and, in our opinion, very tastefully decorated. The facilities are good. We even had a view of the water. Everything is clean. The doorstop rabbit as a “door sign” (do not disturb) is a great idea and immediately puts a smile on your face. There are earplugs in the hallway. Since it was quiet, they weren't needed. Bicycles can be rented at the hotel for 10 EUR (normal bike) and 25 EUR (ebike) Overall, a coherent concept. You can see a common thread. We'd love to come back.
