Hotel & Restaurant Brockenstübchen in Wernigerode

We stayed at the Brockenstübchen for three nights, from November 5th to 8th, 2025. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. We booked with breakfast included. A generous breakfast buffet awaited us each morning. Everything you could want for a delicious breakfast was there: rolls, bread, cold cuts, cheese, cream cheese, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, meatballs, of course muesli, fruit salad, yogurt, and so on. The tables were marked with room numbers, so we always had our usual table in the morning. The staff was very accommodating here as well. We ate dinner at the restaurant twice. On the first evening, I had the roulade with dumplings and red cabbage, and my wife had the chicken steak with potato wedges and herb quark. Both were very tasty. On the last evening, we ate at the Brockenstübchen again. Again, there was nothing to complain about. However, you should definitely reserve a table in the evening. The room was really great. We were at the very top and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The bathroom was clean, the room was clean. We really can't complain. The hotel has plenty of free parking. We'll definitely be back. Best regards from Bremen.

The food was tasty. It could have been a bit spicier. I had the braised ox cheeks. The garlic in the garlic potato wedges was chopped far too coarsely for my liking.

Very friendly service. The menu isn't particularly extensive, but there are even two vegetarian dishes. All in all, a highly recommended restaurant serving local dishes.

The room was super clean and tidy, and there was even a small bag of gummy bears on the bed, which my child was very happy about 😊 First thing in the morning, we were greeted with a delicious coffee 😋 From the room, we had a great view of the Brocken 🪨

I found and booked the hotel through Kurzurlaub.de. We were completely satisfied. The parking was right by the hotel and you could sit comfortably outside in the evenings. Our room was comfortably furnished and very clean. We had half board, and we could choose our own meal from the half-board menu every evening. The food was always delicious. The staff is very friendly and leaves nothing to be desired. The breakfast buffet was also beyond reproach; everything there was perfect. On the day of departure, the manager gave us a small thank you gift. It was a thoroughly relaxing holiday. We would gladly come back.

After a long hike to the top of the Brocken, we had a delicious meal. We hadn't made a reservation, but there was a table. The service was prompt and incredibly delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

The food was okay/good. The friendliness of the service staff could be improved. We were approached right at the beginning when we tried to put two tables together. Not a good start. Later, two women sat down next to us who wanted a drink. They left after about 15 minutes without having served anything. The waitress was busy with personal contacts outside the door. Another guest had to read the menu on the notice board because he still hadn't received one even after a long wait. The restaurant wasn't very busy, and the food came very quickly. Conclusion: Nice atmosphere, okay/good food, inadequate service.

Highly recommended. One of the best accommodations I've ever visited. The friendliness and thoughtfulness of the people here is particularly remarkable. It feels like family, and after just one day, the baby booster seat was already at our table before we even arrived. A truly beautiful place, and we'd love to come back.

The food was extremely delicious and freshly prepared. The chicken breast was so tender and juicy, I've never tasted anything like it before. The roulade was also delicious. The service staff was very friendly, and even shortly after 7:30 p.m., they still offered us something warm.

The steaks at the Brockenstübchen are simply amazing. We went there two evenings in a row and had the rum steak. It was simply delicious, our requests were perfectly catered to, and the staff were very friendly. Next time we visit, we'll definitely book a room here for the night.

The rooms were cozy, very clean, and decorated with great attention to detail. – you immediately feel at home. The restaurant was also a highlight! The food was delicious, homemade, and prepared with love. – you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the passion of the chef. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. You can tell that their work is done with passion. A true insider tip in the Harz Mountains – highly recommended for both accommodation and dining. We will definitely be back.

Nice small hotel with restaurant and good German breakfast. The staff is nice. The room was good, clean and spacious. Harz is a scenic area that has unfortunately been heavily attacked by spruce bark beetles. Large areas of forest are dead. Fantastic road cycling on small and slightly larger roads with steep and slightly longer climbs. Hiking should be perfect in the area. We didn't do anything but we spoke to two German girls who were very happy. The narrow-gauge train would have been fun to ride. The ticket is included in the local tax that is paid per day and per person. Unfortunately we didn't manage to try it because the last train goes back at 6:40 p.m. from the nearest town. When we were there it was up to 40°C on some sections of the uphill slope where the heat stood still and radiated from the surroundings. Tough cycling that way but still very fun with lots of ups and downs.

We've now eaten at the restaurant twice in the evening. The portions are generous, very tasty, and beautifully presented. The value for money at this restaurant is still good. The staff is very nice and friendly. But you can't really get anywhere without a table reservation. Keep up the good work.

Comfortable hotel in a good location. Rooms clean and tidy. Excellent value for money. Operator very flexible, we had slightly different plans. However, since the rooms were available, our requests were met. Pleasant stay. Recommendation: eat in the restaurant!

A place to feel good A friendly welcome, a lovely, spacious room in the attic of the half-timbered house, everything very clean, attentive and friendly breakfast service, a varied buffet, and excellent food in the evening. The place itself is special, but the house is in a great location as a starting point for all activities. We can't comment on the sauna/massage facilities, unfortunately we didn't have time for them. Very friendly, attentive staff. We would be happy to come back.

Very cozy restaurant, no hotel information, very good drinks and menu selection. Very, very tasty food, very well-made potato wedges and rostis, all homemade. Highly recommended! Unfortunately, the service was quite unfriendly, at times rude, not attentive, and we didn't feel very welcome! It's a shame for the amazing chef, who put so much effort into the wonderful food!

Despite reservations, we were seated in the breakfast room. Friends of the waitress were quickly moved to a free table. The friendly service didn't come back after the main course was served. So we couldn't order any more drinks. The food is way too expensive for the quality. Thin schnitzel with canned mushrooms for just under 22 euros? Very dark fried potatoes.

We were looking for a short break and discovered the Hotel Brockenstübchen. No problem check-in. The room and the whole hotel were very clean. The rooms could be a bit more modern. The breakfast was sufficient, but I missed the scrambled eggs and also the Harz cheese. :D The staff is super friendly and also helps you plan the hiking route. We also had dinner twice. The food was good, typical German cuisine. Price performance is perfectly fine.

Encouraged by the beautiful weather, I set off towards the Harz on April 5, 2025. While on the way I called the "Brockenstübchen" in Schierke to ask for a room. Even the first phone call told me: “You’ve come to the right place.” When I arrived, the staff already knew I was coming and gave me a very friendly welcome. My request for a room on the lower floor was also granted. The room was a bit small, but completely sufficient for me as a single person. It was modernly furnished and very clean. I was very happy that I was able to have a delicious meal in the hotel in the evening. Huge compliments to the kitchen for the delicious ox cheeks. Although it was very busy on Saturday evening, the staff served the food quickly and with great attention to the guests. The breakfast buffet was also very tasty and the staff immediately responded to individual requests. Schierke is a great starting point for many different activities. The circular route (Excellent Trail) around Schierke is recommended. Whether Brocken, Wurmberg, stalactite caves in Rübeland, Wernigerode - there are so many opportunities to go on a discovery tour from here. In short: Hotel, staff & kitchen - GREAT Environment - GREAT Weather - GREAT, what more do people need? I felt very comfortable in the “Brockenstübchen”, I would like to say “thank you” to everyone again and look forward to hopefully “soon”!

The hotel is an ideal starting point for hikes. The rooms are perfectly adequate and clean. The evening meal is excellent, as is the breakfast. Everyone is super nice, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel offers a sauna, solarium, and massages. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

So the two of us stayed there for the weekend (2 nights). We didn't really like room number 10, right at the top. It had an unpleasant design/cold decor, lacking a cozy atmosphere. The mattress on the double bed was completely worn out. A skylight (Velux window) was broken and wouldn't close properly. We reported this when we paid on Sunday. The staff member thanked us for the information and said she would take care of it. As for the food, the breakfast was great, can't complain. Dinner wasn't so great. The fried potatoes were lukewarm and the kale was completely mushy. The venison goulash with dumplings and red cabbage was average; we've had better. The service staff are nice and friendly.

We were there for Christmas dinner on December 25, 2024. Everything was perfect, from the decorations to the service and the delicious food. The goose leg with dumplings and red cabbage was a real treat. We'll be back soon.

Visiting the Brockenstübchen. The ambience is really typical of the Harz region, rustic and cozy. The service was very cheerful, courteous and attentive. The food was very tasty. The portions are more than sufficient. Price performance is definitely OK. When we are back in the Harz, we will happily visit the Brockenstübchen, it was one of the best restaurants on our Harz tour.

Basic hotel, rooms clean and tidy but not very spacious. Staff is friendly but not more than that. Unfortunately, the restaurant is of a questionable standard. Although the decor is funny, the quality of the dishes is very poor. Schnitzel is of snack bar quality, fries are reasonable but taste like old fat and the vegetables are tasteless. The salad beforehand was fine. The desert, warm apple strudel, wasn't great either. The prices are low, but we have eaten much better for the same money. My advice would be, slightly higher price for slightly better quality.

The stay in the Brockenstübchen was very nice. The location speaks for itself, the hotel is located directly on the Brocken and close to the Brockenbahn. The rooms are rather small but completely adequate and comfortably furnished. Everything is very clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was sufficient and satisfactory for the size of the hotel. I haven't experienced such courteous and friendly staff in a long time, very pleasant! We would be happy to come back to “Brockenstübchen”!

Nice, cozy restaurant. After a long tour, this was exactly the right place. Delicious fried potatoes with eggs. Although this dish was not part of the menu, it was cooked upon request. My son was also happy with his potato pancakes. Our neighbors were also very happy. The price including drinks and dessert was absolutely justified. It's a shame that a restaurant like this doesn't exist in my hometown. I'd love to come back. Keep it up / thumbs up.

We were now in the Brockenstübchen for the third time and felt completely comfortable again. Thank you. We were able to spend a few relaxing days in the Brockenstübchen. Everything is very clean. We found the beds to be really comfortable. The food in the restaurant is fantastic. In the morning we were able to enjoy a lovingly prepared, delicious breakfast in a cozy, quiet atmosphere. The entire team was super friendly, very attentive and helpful. From there we were able to start our activities such as hikes, city tours and a ride on the Brockenbahn. We look forward to next time!

Oh well! I was just eating in the restaurant. The atmosphere is a bit older but okay. Service was okay but when we wanted to go in because of the drinks, they seemed a bit overwhelmed. The food was good, but I've eaten better. Food is kept very simple, you also have to pay an extra charge for side dish changes, which I find outrageous. I suspect that a lot of things are bought ready-made. Conclusion: Okay, but there are better ones for the price

Accomodation and location very good! The place seems a bit “sleepy”. The Greens have let the forest come to nothing!

Like every year, we ate here today for my daughter's birthday. I can only recommend it to everyone. Friendly service and delicious food.

Staff very friendly. Breakfast varied and sufficient. Points deducted from the room, for a 3 star accommodation, shower bath and hand wash are missing. You only get a small bar of soap. In addition, you don't get water in the room, which is what you would expect. Overall, the rooms are also very Spanish in style. Despite everything, there is no lack of cleanliness!!!

We spent a weekend with friends and can absolutely recommend the hotel. The rooms were large and clean. The menu was very diverse and the food was absolutely delicious. It was a tranquil little town with a connection to the Brockenbahn. Very cozy, rustic room with everything you need. The Brockenstübchen team is very friendly and flexible and is happy to give tips for your stay. Not far is the tourist information office, a small, beautiful spa park. Everyone in town was very friendly. A wonderful starting point for hiking on the Brocken, about 7 km. Thank you very much, we'll be happy to come back.

Full stars from me. We were nearby and had dinner there 2-3 times. In short: "Nice ambience, romantic look, delicious food with really large portions and really nice staff"! The next time we go on vacation nearby, we will eat one or two dinners here again.

Were there recently. The restaurant is not recommended. Small portions, fried potatoes without onions, bacon or taste. Schnitzel was frozen. But then 22 euros for schnitzel with fried potatoes. Absolute tourist trap.

We didn't stay here so can't rate the rooms. But unfortunately the food was nothing. Meat from the schnitzel was so dry that I could barely cut it, let alone chew it. The salad bouquet was already completely dried out. Unfortunately my friend's food wasn't good either. Poor quality for high price. However, the staff is really friendly 👍
