HOTEL ALTE POST in Oberammergau

Tadelloser Service, saubere Zimmer. Ich habe in dem Apartment übernachtet und es war eine tolle Erfahrung.

Angenehmes Hotel mit einem netten Restaurant und gutem Service. Parkplätze sind auf dem Hotelgelände vorhanden. Das Dorf besticht durch seine schöne Architektur. Es gibt viele Restaurants im Ort und man genießt einen herrlichen Blick auf die umliegenden Berge.

Wir hatten das Apartment gemietet, das zum Hotel gehört. Die Rezeptionistin, die uns empfing, war unfreundlich und unprofessionell und konnte uns nicht einmal die Quittung aushändigen, da sie uns sofort die Kurtaxe zahlen ließ. Im Apartment mussten wir erst herausfinden, wie die Heizung funktionierte, die dann auch nicht richtig funktionierte. Im Badezimmer gab es keine Heizung. Die Sauna war undicht und daher nie richtig warm. Der Kühlschrank fror ein. An der „Fühl dich wie zu Hause“-Bar standen zwar fünf Flaschen Alkohol, aber sie waren leer. Zum Glück hatten wir den Kreditkartenbeleg aufgehoben, denn der Rezeptionist beim Auschecken wollte, dass wir erneut zahlen, da angeblich keine Zahlung vorlag. Er war jedoch sehr freundlich und professionell.

Wir haben hier unser erstes Abendessen in Oberammergau genossen. Die englische Speisekarte war hilfreich. Das Essen war lecker. Der Service war in Ordnung, aber nicht herausragend, und wir hatten Probleme mit der Kartenzahlung, daher haben wir bar bezahlt.

Ich hatte das Vergnügen, eine Nacht in diesem Hotel zu verbringen, und war rundum begeistert. Der Service war von Anfang bis Ende äußerst freundlich, aufmerksam und professionell. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich den Mitarbeiter, über den die Buchung zustande gekommen ist — man merkt sofort, mit wie viel Engagement und Gastfreundschaft hier gearbeitet wird. Das Hotel war sauber, angenehm und sehr einladend. Man fühlt sich als Gast wirklich willkommen. Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt — ich komme gerne wieder und kann das Hotel definitiv weiterempfehlen!

Alles ok, nur das Essen im Restaurant war sehr enttäuschend. Der Koch in der Küche soll mal lernen wie man eine ordentliche schnitzel macht!!

Das Hotel war super. Wir waren leider nur eine Nacht Ende Oktober dort, da ich einen Termin in der Nähe hatte. Das Hotel ist sehr gemütlich und sauber, sowie die Zimmer auch. Wir waren mit Hund dort und man hat gemerkt, dass Hunde willkommen sind. Auch für schöne Spaziergänge bietet die Umgebung genug Möglichkeiten. Super Frühstücksbuffet, hier konnte man selbst sein Frühstücksei kochen, dass habe ich so in noch keinem Hotel gesehen. Tolle Aussicht vom Speisesaal. Und unbedingt noch zu erwähnen, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Wirklich tolles Hotel mit Hund.

Im Spätwinter und Frühling besuchten meine Familie und ich das wunderschöne Städtchen Oberammergau und übernachteten im Hotel Alte Post. Der Aufenthalt war rundum wunderbar und angenehm. Die historische Einrichtung und die Möbel des Hotels versetzten uns zurück ins 16. und 17. Jahrhundert und schufen eine traumhafte und bezaubernde Atmosphäre. Auch das Abendessen im Hotel war köstlich, und die freundlichen und aufmerksamen Mitarbeiter hinterließen einen bleibenden Eindruck. Ich möchte mich ganz besonders beim Hotelteam bedanken. Beim Auschecken vergaß ich versehentlich einen kleinen Teddybären, der mir sehr am Herzen lag. Aufgrund meiner Reisepläne konnte ich ihn nicht abholen, was mich sehr beunruhigte und traurig machte. Glücklicherweise kontaktierte mich das Hotel proaktiv und teilte mir mit, dass der Bär gefunden worden war und man mir gerne bei der Rücksendung behilflich sei. Die Mitarbeiter waren unglaublich geduldig, meldeten sich mehrmals bei mir und halfen mir freundlicherweise, den Bären wiederzufinden. So bleibt mir eine schöne und unvergessliche Erinnerung an diese Reise. Nochmals herzlichen Dank an das gesamte Team des Hotels Alte Post. Die wundervolle Atmosphäre des Hotels und der aufmerksame Service der Mitarbeiter lassen mich schon jetzt auf meinen nächsten Besuch hoffen. Ich kann dieses exzellente Hotel wärmstens empfehlen! Wir haben im Hotel Alte Post während eines Familienurlaubs in Oberammergau zum Ende des Winters übernachtet und es war ein wirklich wunderschönes Erlebnis. Was unseren Aufenthalt besonders unvergesslich machte, war die Freundlichkeit des Hotelteams. Ich hatte versehentlich meinen kleinen Teddybären, der mir sehr am Herzen liegt, im Hotel vergessen und war ziemlich besorgt, weil ich ihn nicht zurückbringen konnte. Die Mitarbeiter haben ihn nicht nur gefunden, sondern auch geduldig und mit viel Sorgfalt die Rückgabe organisiert. Dank ihnen ist mein kleiner Teddybär wieder sicher zu Hause – und meine Reise endete mit einem sehr schönen Gefühl 🧸✨ Ein ganz besonderer Ort mit wirklich herzlichen Menschen. Ich würde sehr gerne wiederkommen.

Perfekte Lage, ein sehr gemütliches und hübsches Hotel mit viel rustikalem Charme. Der Service und das Restaurant waren gut, auch das Frühstück bot eine gute Auswahl.

Sehr komfortables, hundefreundliches Hotel in toller Lage. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch die Parkmöglichkeiten direkt am Hotel waren sehr praktisch. Das Essen im Restaurant war ebenfalls sehr lecker. Ich würde jederzeit wieder hier übernachten.

Ich wollte Kaffee und heiße Schokolade holen und mir wurde der Betrag aufgrund von technischen Problemen mit dem Kartenlesegerät doppelt berechnet. Die Angestellten waren sehr unhöflich und bestanden darauf, dass ich erneut kontaktlos bezahle, obwohl ich ihnen gezeigt hatte, dass die Transaktion bei mir erfolgreich war.

Essen war Super. Unser Kellner (Garcon)war super freundlich und zuvorkommend :) Preise sind Top. Kann ich nur jedem Weitermpfehlen. Pommes könnten etwas krosser sein und die Portionen größer.

Sind zum zweiten Mal in diesem Hotel. Uns gefällt es gut. Nachteil: im Zimmer für Familien mit Kindern haben keine Essecke/Kochnische. Für uns leider ungeschickt... Nachteil Nr. 2: Frühstücksbuffet ist woooow einseitig. Eine Woche maximal, länger kann man so einseitig sich nicht ernähren, man kann am Ende das Essen nicht mehr sehen. Leider leider leider... Nachteil NR 3: keine Sauna Vorteile: sehr authentisch, sauber, in der Nähe des Zentrums.

Die Bewertung bezieht sich ausschließlich auf das Restaurant. Am Samstag Abend ohne vorherige Reservierung haben wir im fast vollen Restaurant noch einen Platz für zwei Personen erhalten. Die Bedienung brachte alsbald die Karte, aus der wir Getränke und Speisen auswählten. Ich entschied mich für einen Zwiebelrostbraten mit Rösti und Bohnen. Die Getränke wurden relativ zügig geliefert, die georderten Speisen ließen jedoch etwas auf sich warten. Das mag redoch auch an der vollen Auslstung der Küche gelegen haben. Der Zwiebelrostbraten wurde (ohne dass vorher nachgefragt wurde) medium gebraten und war geschmacklich sehr gut. Vom Gewicht her dürfte das Fleisch ca. 200 Gramm Rohgewicht gehabt haben. Hier hätte ich mir gerne etwas mehr gewünscht. Die Soße war aromatisch und wurde ohne Zuhilfenahme von Convenience-Produkten zubereitet. Auch die grünen Bohnen waren gut zubereitet und schmeckten ausgezeichnet. Insgesamt war das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis angemessen.

Ich kann hier nur das Gasthaus bewerten, da wir hier nicht übernächtigt haben. Die Dame an der Rezeption war sehr zuvorkommend und hat uns in den Gastraum begleitet. Es ist sehr schön eingerichtet. Als wir für 2 Personen einen Platz bekommen haben (besser wäre resevieren). Nach der Bestellung der Getränke, ging es ziemlich zügig, obwohl das Gasthaus gut belegt war. Das Essen hat vorzüglich geschmeckt und Preisleistung war völlig in Ordnung.

Update 01 2026 Leider 2 Sterne Abzug. Wir fühlten uns diesmal nicht Wohl! Service war unaufmerksam um nicht zu sagen genervt, denn als wir nach dem Essen noch ein Getränk bestellten (und das aktiv! Wir wurden trotz 6 leerer Gläser nicht gefragt ob wir noch etwas trinken möchten) also wie gesagt, als wir noch eine Runde Getränke bestellten, verrollte der Kellner die Augen. Das war frech! Selbstverständlich sprach ich den Kellner daraufhin an, doch er reagierte überhaupt nicht. Schade. Am nächsten Tag kehrten wir trotzdem wieder ein, die negative Erfahrung vom Vortag sollte ja den ganzen positiven Eindruck von früher nicht zunichte machen, doch auch diesmal war alles sehr zäh! Lange Wartezeiten, sehr lange Wartezeiten! Klar, wir sind im Urlaub und nicht auf der Flucht. Aber 20 Minuten warten, bis das erste Getränk kommt, ist schon blöd. Aber wenigstens war der Service freundlich. Nächsten Urlaub kommen wir wieder und machen uns ein neues Bild. Meine Lieblingseinkehr in Oberammergau. Alles top!

Wir verbrachten die Woche von Weihnachten bis Neujahr in diesem schönen Hotel und hatten eine wundervolle Zeit. Das Hotel ist ein renoviertes historisches Gebäude im Zentrum von Oberammergau und alles ist sehr gepflegt. Auch das Frühstück war ausgezeichnet. Abends aßen wir im Restaurant, wo das Essen hervorragend war.

Wir waren heute im Restaurant zum Essen. DIE Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut und lecker 😋. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Zum Silvesterabend waren wir auch hier das Menü war sehr gut ud die Gaststätte war schön dekoriert .

This review is solely for the restaurant. We were there on New Year's Eve 2024 – the à la carte meal was excellent. We made another reservation for 2025, but there was no mention of a set menu during the booking process. Unfortunately, the food this year was very disappointing in terms of quality!

Hotel in the centre of Oberammergau. Friendly staff and room 110 was ok. There's the drink machine outside the room, but it's not a problem in my case. There are some works in the building and it's quite noisy drilling in the mornings and some afternoons. There's also a really bad smell on the ground floor and the elevator (maybe from fresh painting), but to have breakfast with that smell isn't really nice, honestly. Furthermore, breakfast is getting worse and worse, nothing is replaced and this morning, e.g there was no sweet pastries left and only kaiser bread, no scrambled eggs this week either.

Hello everyone, This hotel deserves my highest rating. Everyone here is friendly and nice, from the owner to the staff. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Fantastic hotel, I've been coming here for years, both personally and professionally. Very nice hotel, excellent rooms, good and delicious food. The breakfast, in particular, is varied and extensive, with everything you need and plenty of choice. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff and service are very friendly.

It was a very nice stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was absolutely fantastic: fresh, plentiful, with something for everyone. The family room, spread over two floors, was absolutely fantastic: two bathrooms, two TVs, and a bathtub. Everything was fantastic. A lick of fresh paint on the walls and everything was fantastic. This type of room is highly recommended for families with one or two children aged 10 and up. One thing is for sure: we'll be back.

A very nice, centrally located hotel in the heart of the village! Parking is available directly behind the hotel for hotel guests. Friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Since we were on a tour, we unfortunately only booked one night. The hotel is definitely recommended!

We only ate at the restaurant. We were passing through Oberammergau for two days. The first time, we had the pan-fried pork medallions and spaetzle. There was no way around it; we had to go back the second evening and order the pan-fried dish again. Super delicious 😋. Other dishes were also good.

We stayed at this hotel for several nights and unfortunately found that our stay in no way lived up to the standard one would expect for this price. The room was a constant 27°C – regardless of the outside temperature. Restful sleep was out of the question, and there was no remedy available. A refrigerator was broken, there was an unpleasant drain smell, the water temperature in the shower constantly fluctuated, the toilet lid was loose, and a motion detector with a bright light couldn't be deactivated. However, the behavior of the hotel management was particularly disappointing: Instead of offering a solution or at least a discount, they simply suggested we repeatedly change rooms – even though they themselves confirmed that all rooms were the same temperature. The manager responded to our polite comments in an unaccommodating and dismissive manner, saying we should "book a room with air conditioning next time." We did appreciate the breakfast and the comfortable beds. Conclusion: A long list of significant deficiencies, combined with a complete lack of customer focus. We cannot recommend this hotel and strongly advise against booking. Upon checkout, we were only given a waiver of the dog and tourist tax, the extra costs. Given the serious deficiencies, this is completely inadequate; a refund of at least 30% would have been appropriate. Despite the waiver of the additional costs, the hotel management's behavior seemed odd, especially since we were only informed of this upon checkout. Unfortunately, restful sleep on vacation was out of the question; the room was unbearably hot every night.

The Alte Post is located in a characteristic Bavarian village, and the hotel reflects the local style. The hotel has a long history. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They sometimes dress in typical Bavarian clothing. The food is typical and plentiful. The hotel offers a typical or international breakfast. The property has a parking lot, including for buses.

We stayed at the Hotel Alte Post for two nights. We really enjoyed our stay and the location. Our room was very spacious and perfectly adequate. The breakfast was excellent. We were able to park our car directly in the hotel parking lot. But they should consider new baby cots if they're going to charge an extra €10 for them.

After a strenuous day, we were extremely hungry. After studying the menu outside, which sounded good, we decided to have something to eat here. Even ordering was a bit slow; the seats seemed to have been allocated among the staff. As we sat down, a colleague who was serving elsewhere saw us, but it took another 18 minutes before someone finally came, and then someone else did. The food looked delicious, but unfortunately, it wasn't quite that good. My plate of dumplings, roast pork, and three different sausages wasn't that good. The sausages tasted like they came from Lidl or Aldi, and the slice of roast was small and had been reheated several times; the crust was very dry. All in all, I finished my meal because I was hungry, but I won't be coming here again, especially since the price is a total disappointment.

Stayed for 2 nights.. Finally I found a hotel that provides 100% service. Breakfast is simple but delicious, clean.. Dinner is also excellent.. The hotel is classic, the location is outstanding, but the best thing for me is the staff, especially the staff in the restaurant area.. I will definitely stay here again if I come to visit Germany again..

I had to cancel my vacation with four different hotels due to my mother's sudden death. I canceled the hotel bookings on the very day of her passing. Three hotels were immediately and unconditionally willing to cancel the booking at no cost. Only the Hotel Post balked at this, and the decision-makers charged 80% of the total. While this billing is based on the general terms and conditions, it lacks any empathy. Decision-makers are business cards, and therefore I will never book this hotel again or recommend it to anyone!!!

All in all, it was a nice stay. The comfortable room was a good size, and the amenities were adequate. The location was also well-suited for our activities. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, with a wide selection and everything fresh. Great organic coffee and fresh fruit (unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common for other hotels to only serve canned fruit). Great bread/rolls, and you can even boil your own eggs to your liking. It was a shame that there was no extractor/ventilation or window in the bathroom to get the moisture out. Unfortunately, we couldn't dry our rain-soaked clothes either, as the heating wouldn't turn on. All in all, worth a visit

We went to the restaurant for dinner. The waiter was rather taciturn and seemingly never there. He wasn't really bothered that we had empty plates and glasses sitting in front of us for half an hour. The food itself was rather average. The schnitzel was good, the fries were rather bad.

The room is not very clean, after taking a shower I had to scoop water from the floor with a towel, the room smells old, the pillows are terrible. And this is for 240 Euro per night. Parking is on the hotel grounds. Water in the room is 2.50 Euro per bottle. Although it is usually provided for free in hotels. The second time we will find another place to stay. Breakfast is ok, you will not go hungry, but in the summer there are flies everywhere on the tables with food, which is also nonsense.

We spent four nights at the Hotel Alte Post and were absolutely thrilled. Our room (a maisonette) was absolutely beautiful. The hotel is wonderfully equipped. The location in the center of Oberammergau is perfect. All the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, especially the constantly fresh fruit platter. Plus, there's free parking in the courtyard. We highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Great location, free parking. Very friendly reception. The room (a duplex studio) is very recently renovated. Nice bathroom, refrigerator, safe, fan, comfortable bed, and a lovely freestanding bathtub. Housekeeping was excellent, although the tablet, which presumably provides additional information, lacked Wi-Fi. Breakfast was excellent with great service and a wide selection. Local produce and Fairtrade coffee are particularly noteworthy. The food in the restaurant was very good and plentiful. Highly recommended.

We wanted to eat something here, but after an hour, we still hadn't had any food. Despite repeated inquiries, there was no response. The service staff were very unfriendly, and some other guests felt the same way. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it at all.

We wanted to stop by for dinner late in the evening on June 28, 2025, with four people. We politely asked if there were any free seats. We were rudely told that everything was full. The service staff failed on all levels; they should change their professions!

We stayed overnight at the Hotel Alte Post as a stopover on a trip. The hotel room was super modern and excellent. Unfortunately, the food and service left a lot to be desired. Unfriendly, inattentive, and demotivating. We ordered a rump steak and got a roast beef with onions. The waiter then told us it was the same thing anyway... Oh well. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't great either. Breakfast was okay, but we're used to much better in the area. Too bad!

Of the minuses - the glass curtain in the bathroom was leaking - a lot of water got on the floor, we had to get rid of it. There was bottled water in the room - 2.5 euros per bottle, in my opinion for such a cost of accommodation the water could have been given as a gift

After a long hike, we stopped at the old post office just for dinner. The beautiful location and good outdoor seating were the reason we stopped here. The food was good, but unfortunately, the service was a disaster. We weren't greeted; our menus were literally slammed down on our tables. The waiter couldn't answer our questions, and we were forgotten outside because it was full inside. No greeting when we paid either...

Ein sehr leckeres Restaurant im gemütlichen Ambiente. Service Personal sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Die Speisen sind sehr lecker und reichlich. Unbedingt einen Tisch im Vorraus reservieren.

We stopped for drinks here after skiing and it was lovely. Staff were attentive and friendly. We went for dinner one evening and the traditional food was delicious. Slightly expensive but worth it.

Really a very nice, romantic, quaint hotel in a very beautiful picturesque area. The modernly renovated building from the 16th century impresses with its charm with old wood carvings in the ceiling. Ideal for coming down. Impressive nature with a magical view of the Bavarian Alps. The food also tastes very good, there is definitely something for everyone. Good middle-class and predominantly Bavarian. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and the restaurant is really beautiful. The rooms are super clean. We will definitely get lost there again 🙂

When the sun was shining we stopped there for a rest. We ordered a Grüner Veltliner (not edible), a Rissling (it was okay to good) and a semolina dumpling soup (extremely salty and ready very quickly, which is not a good sign...!)y We wouldn't come back!

Beautiful Bavaria bistro+hotel. In central of town. Bathroom updated, new and clean. but bath towel was odd and old , white go grey. Pillow could be better firm, The pillow core is loose and has no shape . Room very clean, thanks cleaning guy. I saw him working so hard, as I left to having my break fast, he immediately start working my room, when I back , the room shining and neatly.

We were there for dinner without a reservation. Which wasn't a problem for the service staff. Food came quickly and was very good. The economy is very cozy with lots of wood. We really liked the chairs, we briefly considered whether it would be noticeable if we took two of them with us, but then we decided not to.

Second time in the same hotel, but this time, we stayed in a very nice studio called Maisonette Studio . It's all new with a bathtub in bed room up . Room is suitable for small families ( 3-4 ) . 2 levels. Wonderful view from Balcony 😍 . The photos in booking.com are for old rooms, so that's why I posted the new photos. Service and team are so good. Food is delicious with enough portions. Breakfast was enough to start a day . Ask for this studio in reservation.

Rooms very clean and nice but unfortunately the view from the window is not. Very noisy room. But otherwise highly recommended.

Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Restaurant was warm and cosy, and the food was delicious. Our waitress Carina was superb! Her assistant Mandy was also terrific. Both were friendly, attentive and funny. Best dining experience.

Wir haben eine sehr gute Rindfleisch Suppe wie bei Oma, einen Grillteller mit Gemüse und ein Rumpsteak gespeist. Es war alles prima. Der Service war freundlich und das Ambiente im alten Wirtshaus sehr gemütlich.

We were there for dinner. The steak and the Wiener Schnitzel were absolutely top 🙌
