While searching for a vegetarian lunch, we stumbled upon this charming little restaurant. And I have to say, we were delighted to find such a diverse selection of vegetarian dishes and not have to order Käsespätzle four times, as is usually the case. We had two vegetarian pizzas, a salad with goat cheese and walnuts, and a halloumi burger, which my boyfriend was especially happy about because other places often only offer meat burgers. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the pizzas were even cooked in a wood-fired oven! They tasted just like in Italy. The service was incredibly friendly, and we immediately felt at ease. We wish the new owners lots of 5-star reviews so they no longer have to suffer from the negative feedback left by their predecessors.

What a gem!! The father/son duo that waited on us could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. Woodfire pizza was delish (and big!) and the service was super quick. If I ever find myself back in town I will definitely be stopping by to enjoy the hospitality!

During an autumn trip to Oberammergau, we stumbled upon this lovely café-restaurant when we suddenly had a craving for coffee and cake. At Wanninger's, you can sit very comfortably on the beautiful blue upholstered benches and enjoy the view from the many large windows. The coffee and cake were a real treat: I had one of their delicious homemade cakes (I chose the walnut cake) and an iced matcha latte. Wow, I was so surprised to find iced matcha lattes here in Oberammergau! :) My friend had something more classic: apple strudel and an espresso. That was also fantastic. We're already looking forward to our next visit.

We had a wonderful dinner at Café Restaurant Wanninger. The salmon fillet was delicious, and the lamb shank with feta (kleftiko) reminded us of our last holiday in Greece. No wonder, since August 2025, the new owners are a Greek family who have brought a whole new level of quality to this place with their warm hospitality. The perfect ending to the evening was a Greek chocolate tart. After speaking with them, we learned that Google unfortunately doesn't allow the old reviews from the previous owners to be deleted. So don't be misled by the current rating; this place deserves 5 stars!

Cafe Restaurant Pizzeria Wanninger is an absolute gem! The owner, the Vasilis, is exceptionally kind, warm, and and welcoming - he truly makes every guest feel special. He personally prepares the meat using his own special recipe, and creating amazing burgers and other meat dishes that are full of flavor. The food is incredibly tasty, the atmosphere cozy, friendly and inviting, and overall ambience is beautiful and charming. Every moment we spent here was a delight, and we can't wait to come back! Coming back to Café Restaurant Pizzeria Wanninger after a few months felt like coming home again. The food and the desserts are absolutely delicious, full of flavor and made with real care and the atmosphere is so warm and cozy that you just want to stay longer. The hosts are incredibly friendly and make every guest feel welcome. It’s one of those rare places you look forward to returning to, because it never disappoints. A true gem in Oberammergau - highly recommended! Vasilis is extremely welcoming and friendly, which is very rare these days, it is a real pleasure to meet such a great person and a real restaurateur. It's shame that Google map review include the bad reviews of previous place and owners because now the Wanninger deserves only 5 stars!

Simply fantastic! The pizza was huge, incredibly delicious, and baked to perfection – crispy on the outside, beautifully moist on the inside. The toppings were fresh, plentiful, and of really high quality. You can tell they cook with love! The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. We visited this restaurant in October 2025. The service was very pleasant, the pizza was delicious, the salad was fresh, and the beer was excellent. We absolutely recommend this place for a good lunch and a great atmosphere!

A great place! Everything is absolutely perfect. The restaurant opened two months ago and is still suffering from the poor rating of the old establishment. Lovely and very attentive service, ultra-fresh and loving food, very pretty Greek island-style decor. We had perfectly executed pasta and we are really picky customers! We will definitely be back!

Our second visit to Cafe Wanninger in Oberammergau once again impressed us. The food, drinks, coffee, and cakes are all of excellent quality. I recommend this pizzeria, confectionery where the service and dishes are delicious. We were greeted by friendly, dedicated people. We served two evenings in a row and I can tell you that we ate the best cheesecake with lemon-flavored cheese with a very fine cream, Strudel with apples and whipped cream and the second evening spaghetti carbonara and Bolognese and for home I received the best pizza with a very fluffy and fine crust baked in a wood-fired oven as I haven't eaten in a long time. The best choice for dining on this vacation and we will definitely go again where the staff welcomes you warmly with exceptional service and the food is the best

We were treated to truly friendly service and excellent food today. The pizza was a nice size and very tasty. My daughter had spaghetti Bolognese, which was also delicious. They also served fries with feta cheese (never tried it before, so I had to try it ;-) ) which was also very tasty. My daughter and my wife also enjoyed the halloumi burger... but above all, we noticed the friendly atmosphere and very, very friendly service, and everything tastes even better ;-) New owner and decor, we'll be back next year and look forward to being guests here. We ate at Wanninger last night. The restaurant reopened yesterday, August 12, 2025, after renovations under new ownership. The pizza and spaghetti Napoli were very good. The cakes in the refrigerator all looked delicious, and on top were specialty tarts from Greece. I tried one and it was delicious; I can only recommend it. The service and the chef were very friendly and accommodating; a very good restaurant in the heart of Oberammergau. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

The worst place we ever visited!!!! We wanted to eat but after the cashier, a young employee of Balkan nationality, told us to leave after we tried to ask again if we could eat at this place...He told us this quietly so that visitors of German nationality would not hear anything. Shame on such an institution where racists work!!! We would not leave a cent in this place and we found a better one where we told our story of worst experience!!!!

Not best or greatest in Ogau, but value for money and almost always open for business.

No, the chef doesn't know his craft. The potatoes were tough. The meat was bone dry, as was the fish. A lot of salt was used. The soufflé probably came from a packet.

Unfortunately I didn't like the pizza, the cheese seemed to come out of the bag grated (and tasted accordingly) and the sauce tasted quite sweet, as if it had been "seasoned" with sugar. I would have liked better quality ingredients here. I was satisfied with the service.

The place is very beautiful. I didn't really like the service because it wasn't always present and attentive. We had to call him a few times. The wet slice didn't excite me like the overly thin McDonald's style fries..

Our private guide brought us here for a quick bite to eat after Neuschwanstein & Linderhof. When we arrived about 16.00 the place was rammed. We ordered Radlers and pizza finished off with gelato. All of it was delicious. We found the service efficient and did not wait that long. We sat outside and were able to enjoy the view of beautifully decorated houses and shops too. Would def go again.

We were a party of five that stopped in for a quick lunch while shopping in the area and so glad that we did. We all got different dishes and were all pleased with what we got. I got the wiener schnitzel and it was really good. My husband go the pizza and really liked it as well. The service was great and our server was very nice and helpful. He spoke enough English that we were able to get by. We sat on the sidewalk and enjoyed the wonderful weather and watched the people as they went about their day. We were there in July 2024. The prices were good for what you get. Would recommend and will be back when we are in the area.

We went to dinner today. The seating and menus have seen their best days a long time ago. The pizza was okay (a little dry). However, the side salad wasn't good. Hardly any taste, the salad was partly brown and mushy. A pity.

We arrived as a group of 12 and were directed to the tables outside that we requested. The drinks and food orders were taken promptly and all items came in good time and were correct. We had a mixture of pizzas and pastas; the pizzas were particularly good with a thin, crisp base, and an acceptable amount of toppings. We got caught in a heavy rain shower, and so were directed inside to a large table to finish up our meal. The service was great. We would certainly come back.

We would receive a friendly welcome. The food is overall ok. The pizza was tasty, but not outstanding. The halloumi burger seemed a bit bland.

We had pizza here for lunch. It was one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. The base was airy and crispy, just as you would expect from a good stone oven pizza. The service was very quick and the food came quickly. If we are in Oberammergau again we will definitely eat here again.
