Very beautifully situated beer garden. The prices are starting to get a little too high, though. A glass of wine for almost €8.00 is pretty steep. On October 21, 1925, a glass of wine cost €9.50. Keep it up, and your customers will stay away. A Maß (liter of beer) costs €10.30. Times 1.95583, that's about 21.00 Deutschmarks. That's pretty steep.

Best fries in town..absolutely friendly staff in the self-service area

I'm from the area where there are hop gardens myself, and I stumbled across this place by chance and I'm thrilled. It's super nice and I highly recommend it. 😁

I'm updating my review because there's a new owner. This time, service and food are rated 5 stars. Alex has given the Hopfengarten a new look and a new lease of life. Super friendly, young team. New dishes, incredibly delicious, beautifully presented, and good prices. Comfortable seating has been created, as well as a kind of small beach with loungers. There's also a highlight: a cocktail bar, a must-try. We'd love to come back here 😊👍 I love coming here; it's cozy and friendly, with plenty of sunny and shady spots, depending on your taste. The fish on a stick is highly recommended. The staff is super friendly. The restrooms are always clean! The playground (owned by the city of Munich) could use some improvement; then you'd be happy to sit for an extra hour or two.

I visited Hopfengarten for the first time today and was impressed. The ambiance is very nice, and there's even a bar for aperitifs. I had an excellent ox sandwich; the meat was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. The staff were extremely friendly. All in all, a great beer garden and a definite recommendation!

Nice beer garden, with live music at certain times and a dance floor that's actually very popular and well-used. The food is also very good and of very good quality, although it's not exactly cheap.

I drank a blackcurrant spritzer and found the "new" warm cheese pretzel very tasty, and the coleslaw was perfect. I'm only giving it one star 🌟 because I actually used to enjoy the Swiss sausage salad there, but for all I cared, I wouldn't spend €10.70 on it.

The beer garden is beautifully situated and also has live music. It's also known for its popularity among dancers. The food is average, but the fries are very good. Overall, I'm only giving it four stars because there's room for improvement in the food and the pricing.

We were there on Sunday, and there was free music starting at 4 p.m. Thanks to the landlord. A liter of Löwenbräu beer was €10, and wine spritzer was €6. So the prices were OK. We ate a ox-flavored roll for €10, a half chicken, and a large pretzel. Unfortunately, the burger bun wasn't toasted and was therefore cold and soggy. The ox meat was good and plentiful. The chicken was much too pale. The pretzel was crispy, still warm and delicious. Some of the beer benches had backrests. We always enjoy coming back.

It's not particularly pretty, and it's quite expensive. A pint costs €10.30, while at Hirschgarten you'd pay €8.80. And it tastes better.

One of my favorite beer gardens. We were there on Sunday. There was live music again, and everyone, young and old, had a blast.

A classic self-service beer garden. You can order drinks, including coffee and cake, as well as pretzels or something more substantial from the food counter and then pay at the cash register. All in all, a good place to take a break.

Worth a visit any day of the week, but especially Thursday and Sunday for the live music

A real insider tip among Munich's beer gardens! For me, the Hopfengarten is the epitome of a relaxed summer evening: sitting under shady trees, a cool drink in hand – and the best part? There's plenty of space! Unlike some well-known beer gardens (I won't name any names, but anyone who's been to the English Garden will know), where you can involuntarily feel your neighbor's back against yours, here you can really breathe. From a culinary perspective, I was impressed by the spinach dumpling in tomato sauce – light, aromatic, and simply perfect for a warm summer day. Just the right vegetarian dish if you're looking for something fresh yet filling. The staff was super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Bottom line: The Hopfengarten is a place to feel good. If you're looking for a relaxed beer garden atmosphere without the crowds, this is the place for you. I'd definitely come back – and bring more friends next time!

Used to be my favourite Biergarten for the past 8 years, however with new owners, the whole flair changed, unfortunately not necessarily for the better. The Biergarten used to be open daily (with good weather) and until late night/last client. Right now it‘s usually closed, or if open, closes early. There’s been times I went there in season so May, June, after work around 20:00 for a quick beer and it was closed (website or google were saying it’s open till 22/23:00). Other times I’d go there during day and it would also be closed. One time I went with my family and we got the very last beer at 19:30 although they started closing at 21 and closed fully at 21:30 (Google maps said they‘re open till 23:00 and it was a super warm night with 24C). The new management doesn’t make sense. Sadly it‘s becoming more of a hipster place with lounges, aperol bar and digital screens that is open only when the owner decides to open it. I do hope that things improve and you can really enjoy it there again with reliable opening times. It’s really sad.

Nice location, but otherwise, a complete disaster. A small bowl of fries for 5.80! A very small portion of sausage salad was a soggy bed of lettuce. The chicken in the display looked like it had been eaten the day before—we were too scared to order it. There was only one man at the food counter, overwhelmed...

The ambiance and food are decent. Prices are a bit high in places. Bar staff are unfriendly (but that seems to be an unwritten rule in Munich). Live music is a bit too loud, making conversation impossible.

hallo, wir haben einen Obatzter gegessen. der Obatzter ist nur sehr körnig. er sollte doch cremig sein. so wie sie ihn in der theke haben schmeckt nicht besonders. der vergleich liegt in kloster andechs . so gehört er.

Undervalued Beergarden with great atmosphere, nice food and nice surroundings, and they have Aperol Spritz for a good price :)

Stay away from the spare ribs! 20 euros per portion for a pile of rubbish drowned in BBQ sauce. No comparison to the quality of a few years ago. I felt really bad afterwards and went home hungry.

The beer garden invites you to relax and enjoy. It's not as crowded as some others. In my opinion the food was good and the price was also fair. The employees were nice and accommodating. I had to wait 15 minutes for my food because there wasn't much going on when I arrived and the food still had to be served. Which I think is completely okay. I would rather wait or switch to another dish than have food thrown away unnecessarily.

Sehr großer SB-Biergarten auf dem Gelände der IGA 1983 (Westpark), direkt neben dem Audi Dome (ehem. Rudi-Sedlmayr-Halle). Ich war nachmittags nach einem Spaziergang durch den Westpark dort. Es war zwar warm genug, um auf ein Bier und einen Snack zu pausieren, nicht aber für einen längeren Aufenthalt. Es war auch nicht allzu viel los, was an wirklich waren Tagen ganz anders ist. Die Auswahl an Speisen war reduziert, aber für jeden Geschmack etwas da. Ich wählte Currywurst mit Pommes (11,40 Euro) und eine Mass Helles (10,40 Euro). Teuer ist´s schon, aber wo ist Gastronomie heute noch billig? Geschmacklich, von der Portion und vom Service her war es in Ordnung. Das Personal kenne ich flüchtig schon länger und bis noch nie unfreundlich behandelt worden.

If you can't do it, please leave it alone and give the actually beautiful beer garden to someone who knows about gastronomy. Anyone who can no longer offer fries and fresh pretzels at 1 p.m. and sells a completely overcooked male fish for extremely expensive money, including an enormous waiting time at the counter and checkout, should receive citizen's money. Food is okay for a beer garden. But there are no prices on the boards. Fries € 5.90 and currywurst with fries for € 14.00 is a disgrace if you don't publish the prices. Ambience average but OK. Service was friendly. Edit: Apparently there should now be digital price boards, which is fine. However, after eating the fries, we both had gastrointestinal problems with nausea and vomiting, which was clearly caused by this meal. The frying oil was probably old (?!) So we don't recommend it.

The beer garden is a little gem, we really enjoy visiting it. However... All the prices on the food boards were missing. I still ordered a currywurst with fries and unfortunately completely regretted it. The sausage had a bland taste and had no “bite”. Unfortunately it was only lukewarm... The sauce recipe could also urgently need a revision... Unfortunately, the fries are also of mediocre quality. Now about the price, yes prices have risen everywhere and prices for energy, staff, etc. also apply in a beer garden. But a whole 14 euros!!! That's a lot of money for one portion. If the quality is right, you'll be happy to treat yourself to it. But in this case I can only advise against it, it's not worth a lot of money. Totally nice, quiet beer garden. Unfortunately, there are often not all the meals available, you have to be lucky, but the atmosphere is really nice, especially in late summer. If you have the choice, Steckerlfisch and Obazda with a large pretzel were always good. On Sundays there is often live music and a few ladies and gentlemen (usually older) dance. Totally nice atmosphere.

Biergarten is unable to update opening hours. Both on Google and directly in front of the Hofgarten it said “open”.

Nice beer garden in the eastern part of Westpark. And it is most beautiful there, under the chestnut trees, on Sundays, when there is music for dancing (for example by the local Munich rock 'n roll heroes "Cagey Strings"). The beer in the "Hopfengarten" comes from "Löwenbräu", is reasonably priced and - if the guest doesn't want to bring their own snack - the "Haberl" restaurant takes care of their physical well-being. Meat lovers are recommended the lavishly topped ox roll. My wife and I really enjoyed it.

We were always happy regular guests. The live music on some Sundays is good and fun. Nowadays on weekday afternoons you are treated to disco-techno stomp from the boom box. Gone are the cozy after-work beers and the quiet, traditional Bavarian beer garden is over. During the last few visits we tried different dishes, none of them were really good, some (e.g. pasta salad) were even inedible. They did everything they could to make us regular guests. ADDENDUM 2.9.23 If you take a closer look at the photos here, you will find one of the showcases that clearly shows bowls of “pasta salad”.

Great beer garden, easy to reach by car, I often go there to eat Steckerlfisch and was never disappointed.

Rarely have I experienced such a bad beer garden, or more precisely, never. You can usually overlook a problem, but here it was: the ordered lemonade, an iced tea, the last roll was black moldy, which we used for a sausage roll (which you had to assemble yourself), the price for a SINGLE sausage is over €5, with a roll over €7, and finally this sausage was extremely fatty, warmed up and largely tasteless (except for the fat...). All in all, charging €24 for 2 drinks and 2 rolls with complete self-service is excessive, even for Munich, and actually a disgrace. The beer garden itself is quite nice and located under trees, but unfortunately looks run-down and unkempt compared to the beer garden in the Hirschgarten, for example.

On June 16th we, the band Retro Beach Club, had the pleasure of playing at the Hopfengarten in Munich and we were totally thrilled! The beer garden is beautiful and has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the organization of the afternoon went great. We felt really comfortable as a band, especially thanks to our friend and host. The mood of the guests was simply fantastic. The hop garden attracted many people who enjoyed dancing and were in a good mood, who carried us away with their energy and enthusiasm. The dance floor was full all afternoon, making our performance an unforgettable experience. The food was also excellent. The food is of the highest quality – typically Bavarian and prepared with a lot of love. We can highly recommend the Hopfengarten, both for music lovers and for anyone who wants to spend a relaxing afternoon in one of the most beautiful beer gardens in Munich. Many thanks to the team, the wonderful audience and our host – we’ll be happy to come back!

The food is really not tasty. Had half a fight today, but the rubbery hunk of meat really didn't have much to do with it. And at Oktoberfest prices. The problem was that the Handel had been sitting in the warming cupboard for several hours and had therefore dried out. I think as an operator you should keep an eye on how long the quality meat is drying there.

Today at 5 p.m. we had the worst schnitzel with fries ever. It tasted like it had been warmed up and was dry. Fries tasted like old grease. The dry half chicken wasn't even lukewarm. The public viewing offered didn't start until 5:50 p.m. and was broadcast via projector in such poor quality that we went home after halftime. In short - we would have spent this evening better elsewhere - apart from expenses there was nothing! For us the last visit to this expensive beer garden.

Great beer garden because it is located out of the way and is therefore not overcrowded with the usual number of tourists. Watching football there was great and drinks and food were always available quickly. My tip: order Löwenbräu Dunkel in a chilled beer mug. Great and nice staff.

Und auch diese GastroGroßfamilie der weit verzweigten Haberlschen Verwandten nagt am Hungertuch. Deshalb kostet die Halbe hier 5,20 € und die Maß wird verschleudert für sage und schreibe 9,90 €. Ob sie bei der Maß nicht draufzahlen müssen?Über die angeblichen Biergarten Schmankerl schreibe ich besser nix. Und natürlich wird Mann ! dann von einer Minijoberin wenn die Natur ihrer Tribut fordert um 0,70 € fürs Wasserlassen gedrängt.

Here you can get ox rolls that are really tasty and freshly tapped beer. There is also a playground and there is live music on the weekends to which everyone dances and sings happily.

Pommes mit brareurst war leider zu versalzen und zu fettig. Abends hat mein Sohn sich dann bis in der früh übergeben, das Fett war anscheinend alt und daher nicht zu empfehlen

Stramme Preise, dafür Bio. Leider etwas abgelegen für die Westpark Spaziergänger. Wenns überall voll ist gibt's hier noch nen Platz.

Seit sich Haberlgastronomie den beschaulichen Biergarten einverleibt hat, sind die Preise rauf und die Qualität runter gegangen. Aber wer für ein Flaschenbier, das man sich selbst holt, noch 5,20 bezahlt ist auch selbst schuld. In anderen Biergärten gibt's das Augustiner vom Fass für 8,60 die Mass.

Kein Service, nur Selbstbedienung. Belegschaft nicht sehr kundenorientiert. Für München vielleicht normal.... trotzdem große Breze Eur 5.30!?

Schöner Biergarten, die Currywurst war sehr gut

Wir waren bisher 3x dort, haben die Ochsenfetzensemmel, Hendl mit Pommes, Steckerlfisch, Brezn, Obatzdn und Auszogne dort gegessen. Und es gab absolut nichts auszusetzen. Da wir Hendl und Pommes nicht geschafft haben, erhielten wir auf Nachfrage Alufolie und selbst am nächsten Tag war der Geschmack noch richtig gut, das Hendl immer noch saftig. Wir konnten es selbst kaum glauben. Da 2x Sonntags eine Band dort spielte blieben wir viel länger hocken als geplant, aber die Schorlen dort sind so gut, da kann man auch 2 oder 3 von trinken. 😄 Übrigens: hier läuft sogar ein sehr fleißiges Helferlein durch die Reihen und räumt das benutzte Geschirr schneller ab, als man selbst aufstehen konnte. Ansonsten bleibt es aber natürlich obligatorisch, sein Geschirr und Gläser auch selbst weg zu räumen!

Idyllischer Biergarten im Grünen, der hauptsächlich von Einheimischen aufgesucht wird. Die Speise und Getränkeauswahl ist sehr gut und über Selbstbedienung - Kartenzahlung ist möglich. Immer sonntags gibt es außerdem Livemusik mit Tanz.
