Tight but comfortable. We have been visiting this cozy location for many years. It wasn't so crowded before. But the few staff are very friendly. Food and wine was good again.

Even though the restaurant was full to capacity, we received great service and the food was great! If you can respond to every guest in a friendly manner, even when it's busy, then I'm not worried about ever getting bad service here.

The food was way too salty. We had 4 different dishes, all of which were way too salty. I couldn't finish all of my food due to the salt content. The ambience and service are great! Unfortunately, the menu doesn't offer many vegetarian dishes that fill you up (I leave out the salad and antipasti plate). PS: I hope the chef's infatuation is reciprocated

You have created a really beautiful ensemble in the Hinterhöfle, a place of peace, a mixture of winter garden, beer garden and restaurant in the historic barn. The service was attentive and seemed skillful. The food was tasty and plentiful, perhaps a tad too salty for some people. Unfortunately, the amount of meat in sauerbraten doesn't do justice to the price; you can use a second slice, but cut a little thinner. Overall, a bit too expensive.

Went here for dinner today. The Hinterhöfle makes a very inviting impression. Successful architecture. The tables are uncomfortable. You can't stretch out your feet. The carpenter was not a catering professional. The Schäufele wasn't a hit. The crust had no bubbles and was not crispy. The sauce was boring. The menu said juniper, laurel and caraway. The cook forgot something. The red cabbage was tasteless and overcooked, so it was for toothless people. Apple taste lingered in the kitchen. The char had parsley potatoes on the menu. The parsley was completely missing. Tomato herb melt was just sour with no herbs. The wine was served in a plastic glass. The service was Franconian friendly. The price and performance ratio is not right here. For these prices, more must be delivered. There are better places.

We are currently in Volkach for a long weekend and have chosen the Hinterhöfle as an evening location for dinner. The reservation via OpenTable went smoothly. The reception from the service was very nice and friendly, the ambience is a bit reminiscent of a large winter garden, but it fits 👍 The menu offers something for everyone, in terms of drinks there is of course a lot of wine on the menu, but also local beer. We chose the Schäufele and pork fillet with spaetzle (it was a daily menu). Both meals were very good 👍 We can definitely recommend the Hinterhöfle and would come back if we were in this corner again.

Volkach is great. Hinterhöfle left a bad impression. The restaurant was empty, but my wife and I had no choice of seating. The waitress ordered that we were only allowed to sit at a table of three, very harshly. We then left. They probably didn't want to make any sales.

We always enjoy visiting this wonderful location. Top-notch service, great food, and a wonderful atmosphere – we'll be back again and again!

We were here on Boxing Day. The atmosphere is really nice and invites you to linger. The food tastes very good and the portions are large. Unfortunately, it took a long time until someone gave us tickets or we were actually forgotten. When we took the order we were probably forgotten for a long time or they thought it had already been taken and so everything was a slight delay. The prices were also a bit high, but that might just have something to do with Christmas. Addition Christmas 2024: We were there again, we were very happy with the taste of the food, this time it was a little quicker, but we still noticed that it was probably tight in terms of staff because other tables had to wait significantly longer.

On our way through, we spent 1 night in Volkach on the Langer winery's parking space (priced separately). We then went to Hinterhöfle for dinner. We liked the atmosphere. Lots of green, very cozy. The staff was very attentive and had good knowledge of the wine selection. The food was brought quickly. Even now in December, the restaurant wasn't overcrowded. I ordered the Schäufele. It was very tasty but too big a portion for me. Then I took the rest with me. All in all a nice evening with good food.

We were there in December 2024 and ate soooo good duck with a divine sauce, it was awesome. The price-performance ratio plus the ambience is incredibly good. We waited a normal amount of time and also ordered a vegan dish as a second dish, everything was really great. Definitely go there. I think it's even nicer in summer!

Unfortunately the food wasn't good and overpriced. Typical tourist booth. Bratwursts that are not fried, but simply boiled. Sauerkraut, which didn't taste sour but sweet, and a quark stollen that was just over-seasoned and dry. And that at high prices. Absolutely no recommendation! Price performance bad! Better Torbäck or the lily.

Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed here... The rib-eye steak was not as discussed, instead of fried potatoes there were parsley potatoes without prior agreement. The accompanying quark was only brought when we had almost finished eating... The drinks we had ordered with the meal were only brought after my husband reminded the staff, the ladies were standing in a corner talking and drinking… It's a shame, unfortunately the price-performance ratio is not right at all......!

Very nice restaurant. Rustic and comfortably furnished. Drinks and food very good. The waitresses are more matter-of-factly friendly than warm. I forgot the cake. Even after the hint, the cake still didn't come. As compensation I received 5 wrapped cookies

Totally overrated. Drinks were not served with the meal, had to get up and go to the counter. Then the herb quark came too late, instead of fried potatoes there were suddenly boiled potatoes... but all of this at a steep price... Happy New Year

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas dinner with 26 people. The service was great, everyone went out of their way to look after us, every dish was praised and found to be very tasty. Thank you for that!

Last Friday we had Schäufele (quite ok) and Sauerbraten, which in our opinion was very hard, cut too thick and very dry. We sent some back and asked the waitress to give it to the chef to try. And now here's the thing: She came back with the information that she and two cooks had tried the roast and found the meat completely ok. What an own goal we have never seen in decades. We would have said to our guests: sorry, it can happen, sorry. That doesn't work at all. By the way, the price of almost 24 EUR is not at all appropriate even for Franconian standards.

Without a reservation you need a lot of luck. The right time for the appropriate meal is also important. The ambience is great and the food tastes great too, but the prices are accordingly. Our dog was allowed in.

We went there spontaneously for dinner. Despite many reservations, we still got a nice table. The map is rich. The ambience under the glass roof is really very nice. The service was quick. The drinks and food were served quickly. The food (Schäufele and Franconian Sauerbraten) was a poem. We were completely satisfied so far. A small downer was the service. She wasn't having her best day, she wasn't unfriendly by any means, but a little smile and a kind word doesn't hurt anyone and helps so much.

I've always done one for 20 years A detour there when we come back from vacation in the south. Then we eat the fantastic sauerbraten and can only recommend it. Great atmosphere.

The potato salad and the bratwurst in the Hinterhöfle were unfortunately disappointing. The potato salad didn't seem homemade, but rather like mass-produced wholesale produce. The bratwurst was also not convincing in terms of taste. Both dishes did not meet expectations, especially in terms of price. Despite the good location, the quality of the food was simply inadequate. What a shame, great courtyard!

Delicious food, modern Franconian dishes, many organic and affordable

A cool place, you could almost walk past it if you didn't take an interested look into the courtyard. The lady who served us was very attentive and did an excellent job. Thank you for our group picture. Now to the food, a highlight. I decided on the Franconian snack.....and yes, I admit I would happily travel another 150 kilometers for that. First class products. My friends also chose delicious dishes. Unfortunately it was only enough for a fruit spritzer, I would have liked to drink a wine or beer with it...150 kilometers of driving spoke against it. Gladly again.

During my 6-day vacation in Volkach, we ate dinner in a different restaurant every evening and the food in every restaurant was very good. When we visited the restaurant the day before, it was clear to us that nothing would work here without a reservation. A lot of money was invested here to restore the old inner courtyard and make it what it is today. Everything is just right here, from the pictures to the lighting. During the rush hour around 7:00 p.m., the entire staff including the boss must be fully prepared and friendly in order to satisfy all guests. There is nothing wrong with the food, neither the taste nor the portion size nor the waiting time. Of course, many guests create a background noise, but with the suspended acoustic cubes, everything possible was done to reduce the noise level. Regarding the prices, I have to say that the days of being able to pay for a meal with an apple and an egg are over. The important thing is to leave the restaurant full and satisfied.

Having come to eat in this restaurant by chance, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior courtyard with plant pergola. Very good sausages (bradwurst) accompanied by potato salad or cabbage/bread. To discover...

We were in the Hinterhöfle in Volkach for the first time. Had reserved a table. The service was good and prompt. The food came quickly and was quite good too. However, the glass roof is not tight and because it was raining, it dripped on the table as well as on us the entire time. That was very annoying and also disturbing. The prices for both the food (bread dumplings €23) and the drinks (shandy €5) are very expensive. Too bad!

We were guests in the romantic Hinterhöfle on Thursday (Assumption Day) after a Main loop tour with 12 people. Positive: Very nice atmosphere, fast, attentive and friendly service. The quality of the food was consistently good and very attractively presented. The farmer's bread was very tasty and could also be reordered free of charge Rather negatively noticed: In my opinion the prices are overpriced, both drinks and food. 13.50 euros for a small terrine of Pichelsteiner stew with bratwurst meat! 33.00 euros for a salad plate with strips of beef fillet! 14.50 euros for a pair of manageably large bratwursts with potato salad, which, according to the waiter, comes from a can, but is refined (chives and cress) embarrassing....!!! Shortly after we placed our food order at around 4 p.m., a board with a reservation for 6:15 p.m. was placed on our table with an emphatic gesture. The waitress then kindly reminded us of this several times 45 minutes before it was due to expire. This gives the impression that you want to achieve the highest possible customer throughput and gently but firmly encourage the customers who have already made most of their consumption contribution to leave... unacceptable for my taste !!! Since I was embarrassed by the potato salad in 2018, before Corona in this one What happened to the establishment, back then at a price of 8.50 euros (which was already high back then), me and my friends will probably think twice about visiting again. Tourist rip-off, what a shame...

Hinterhöfle Biergarten is a beautiful place to enjoy a snack and a drink. Located in an almost hidden street of the touristy Volkach, this beer garden offers a unique atmosphere that you don't often encounter. The large parasols and the picturesque courtyard create an almost idyllic environment, where tradition and innovation come together in a surprising way. It is a place that is both aesthetically pleasing and cozy. During our visit we enjoyed the bratwurst with potato salad and an antipasti. Although both dishes tasted good, they were not special or distinctive. The prices are on the high side, but that is to be expected in a village that mainly relies on tourism. Despite the slightly higher prices, Hinterhöfle is definitely worth a visit. The unique atmosphere and charming setting make it a fun experience for those looking for a special place to relax.
