Excellent local cuisine! The soups are especially noteworthy.

The restaurant's atmosphere is truly wonderful. Cozy and beautifully decorated. Imagine what it could be if the food were actually good. The pork shoulder was completely spoiled. The venison goulash was nothing special. The dumplings weren't bad. What was truly awful was that while the staff acknowledged the complaint, there was absolutely no customer-oriented response. A real shame.

The ambiance is simply superb – cozy, beautiful, and designed with great attention to detail. The food was also absolutely delicious. A truly recommendable restaurant for anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

This was our second visit to Hinterhöfle, and once again we were extremely satisfied with the service, food, and atmosphere. I'd especially like to acknowledge that we still got a table despite my booking error. Thank you so much! We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be back :-)

The Hinterhöfle restaurant in Volkach exceeded our expectations. Excellent traditional food, fast and friendly service, and a great atmosphere. The value for money is absolutely right. Five stars!

A very nice restaurant with very friendly service. We had Schäufele (pork shoulder) and Sauerbraten (marinated pot roast). The meat and dumplings were excellent. However, the sauces were extremely spicy. The Schäufele sauce was so salty that I had to drink almost two liters of water the following night. The red cabbage was jammy and sweet. A real shame, as everything else was truly fantastic. For the meal, two beers, and a glass of wine, we paid just under 70 euros, which is reasonable these days.

We have been visiting Volkach and the Hinterhöfle at least once a year for 33 years. During our many visits, we have never been disappointed. The food, wine, and service were always excellent. But on our two visits this year, they outdid themselves. The shoulder of pork, bratwurst with chanterelle mushrooms, liver dumpling soup, bread rolls, and antipasti were exceptionally delicious. Despite the restaurant being fully booked, the service was fast, competent, and remarkably friendly.

We had reserved a table for two the day before. We were shown directly to our table. Very friendly, attentive staff, pleasant atmosphere. The wait was surprisingly short, and the food was very tasty. The wine list was good, with selections from regional wine producers.

Hello, we went there as a group for dinner and had reserved tables. We arrived 10 minutes early, and the staff, in a very rude tone (and this applies to paying guests), told us to wait because we weren't allowed in yet. It's a very nice restaurant, but unfortunately, the food was not enjoyable, and the staff were simply rude, which is definitely not appropriate.

The location is very nice. The staff is unfortunately unfriendly. If you don't like it, you should look elsewhere. The food is either unseasoned or too salty. Spending so much money on this is a disgrace. In short: you come hungry and you leave hungry. Criticism doesn't go down well either.

A somewhat different restaurant in Volkach. The ambiance is truly rustic and beautiful; you're practically sitting outside even though it's inside and has a great roof. You can also linger outside when the heaters are on. The menu is quite limited, but the ingredients are truly high-quality. We had the Sauerbraten with red cabbage, which wasn't our cup of tea in terms of flavor; two dumplings would have been appropriate for the hefty price. A 0.4-liter spritzer for €5 is beyond outrageous; you can certainly get it for less. The service was rather taciturn, rather reserved, and not particularly friendly; they didn't answer my questions about the food. Overall, the food was still good, but if €60 isn't enough for two roasts, that's a real shame.

This year's FAC Mainaschaff club outing took us to Volkach 🚌🍷 After a romantic raft trip on the Altmain River, we rounded off the day with a stop at the Hinterhöfle restaurant. We were surprised by the great atmosphere and service. We were particularly impressed by Kika, who seemed very tough and eloquent for her age 👍 For that, ***** again and thank you very much!

If you want to eat well, this is the place for you.

You simply have to visit this place in Volkach. An appealing menu, nice that there was a separate menu for chanterelle mushrooms... and excellent Franconian wines at prices you'd expect to find in a regular restaurant. Personally, I have to say that my Schäufele (shoulder of pork) is probably one of the best I've ever eaten in Franconia. And there have been quite a few.

Upscale price range, beautiful atmosphere. Add to that a delicious meal, and it would have been perfect. Unfortunately, I would have preferred to have my char filleted on the menu, because it was impossible on the salad plate. At €25 for smoked fish in an upscale setting, a separate salad plate or a larger plate should reflect this price range. I think the fish was delicious. However, I couldn't enjoy it because I needed too much concentration to avoid knocking the salad off the plate or losing the bones in the salad. I grumbled to myself in frustration while eating. In response, no server came to our table, and when we took the cash, we weren't asked if everything was OK. I didn't think that was very professional. An extra salad plate and the fish filleting are a small thing, and appropriate for the price range.

Schäufele (shoulder of pork) as expected: regional, authentic, tasty, albeit overpriced: €22.50! Wild butcher shop offers the same dish for €9.90! Bratwurst with potato salad: Bratwurst with 1 cm-wide fried stripes on top and bottom, otherwise white, firm, and tasteless. Potato salad was mush, tasted of nothing, lacking any seasoning. I've had much better in Franconia for these prices!

This beautiful courtyard invites you to dream, linger, and enjoy. An extensive wine list satisfies every desire. Beer drinkers will also find something to their liking. The food is a must. Absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and caters to your every need. After the good food, the schnapps and liqueur list leaves little to be desired. Here, too, quality sets the tone. A visit is definitely worth it.

Wonderful restaurant with a covered courtyard offering an outdoor feel with protection from the elements. Great selection of local wine and superb food. In particular I enjoyed their Silvanersuppe, a take in the more common Mostsuppe, with the lighter notes of the white wine making this dish shine.

A cute yet spacious restaurant. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy. The food is hard to describe. The pork shoulder practically fell apart, it was so tender. Taste-wise, it's a solid 1. Come here, folks, and you're guaranteed a lovely evening with good food and wine or beer. The service was truly friendly. She gave us plenty of time and was always available for follow-up orders. She also gave us some advice, as we were initially undecided. We'll definitely be back.

Nice location, but the food left much to be desired. I ordered asparagus with schnitzel. Both the schnitzel and the asparagus were under-seasoned. What was completely unacceptable was cress on schnitzel that had been deep-fried, and then on top of the asparagus. I really missed having fresh chives instead. The asparagus and potatoes were swimming in butter. I prefer to pour butter over my asparagus myself. The service was friendly and quick.

Very nice ambiance. Friendly, attentive staff. The food is excellent. I had the chanterelle mushrooms, and my husband had the shoulder of pork, which I highly recommend. What I didn't like so much was that after 1 hour 45, the table had to be cleared for the next guests.

Don't let the ambiance fool you. While it's impressive, so are the prices, and the food is mediocre at best. The same goes for the wine. The price/performance ratio isn't right.

A lovely ambiance in a large conservatory and beer garden in a back courtyard. Prices are a bit higher. The food was very good; we had various soups, all of which were very tasty, and the Schäuferle (pork shoulder) with dumplings was large and also very good, although it cost just under €24. Reservations are recommended; the three of us were lucky enough to get a table spontaneously, but several others left without reservations after us.

We ate delicious bread dumplings in chanterelle sauce. Fantastic atmosphere and fair prices. The waitress was also able to recommend a great wine.

Last Friday, we had Schäufele (quite okay) and Sauerbraten, which we thought was very tough, sliced too thickly, and very dry. We sent some back and asked the waitress to give it to the chef to try. And here's the kicker: She came back with the information that she and two chefs had tried the roast and found the meat perfectly fine. What an own goal, something we haven't seen in decades. We would have told our guests: sorry, it can happen, sorry. That's completely unacceptable. By the way, the price of almost €24 is completely unreasonable, even by Franconian standards. Another attempt yesterday didn't convince me either. How can you serve mushy fried potatoes?

The ambiance here is very nice, and the waitress, Simone, was very friendly. Since we were four adults with two babies, we were given a large, quiet seat. The prices for the drinks (and wines) are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I ate at Hinterhöfle on Sunday afternoon. Alone with two large dogs. I've often experienced that everything is booked or reserved. Not so at Hinterhöfle; I got a great table in a beautiful setting. For my meal, I ordered traditional Schäuferle (a kind of pork shoulder), which I simply love. The food served was some of the best Schäuferle ever. The staff, from the waitress to the manager, were incredibly friendly; the dogs were given water and treats before I got my beer. Definitely 5*, and I'll definitely be back. Best wishes to the team.

The two of us had lunch at Hinterhöfle. The pork shoulder was outstanding! Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Truly delicious. At €23, it's on the high end, but worth every penny. We also really liked the ambiance. Modern meets stylish old building. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We were very impressed and will definitely be back.

A nice ambiance and delicious food, although unfortunately a bit expensive. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio, especially the service, was not right at all. When making the reservation, you could specify an occasion, which I did (birthday). Unfortunately, the staff didn't congratulate me, set the table a little more beautifully, or anything like that. Accordingly, I would recommend simply removing the occasion from the reservation. However, there was no reaction from the staff even when my parents obviously congratulated me and gave me a present, and it was definitely clear that it was my birthday. Customer-friendly is unfortunately something else entirely. Even so, the assigned waitress was unfortunately quite grumpy. It's a real shame that—especially given the high prices—the staff isn't also adjusted accordingly.

Der Laden wirkt schon von außen einladend auf mich, allein schon durch das Schild "Täglich frische Bücher..." :). Mit Hingabe und Liebe zum Detail ist die Ladenfläche sehr ansprechend eingerichtet und gestaltet. Das Bücherkabinett ist Buchhandlung, Wollgeschäft (Lana Grossa) und Mini-Café in einem. Bei sehr freundlicher und kompetenter Beratung finden sich hier neben Büchern und Wolle aber auch hübsche Spielsachen, Tassen und selbstgebackener (?) Kuchen auch kleine Mitbringsel und "Mitnehmsel", sprich Dinge, von denen man erst bemerkt, dass man sie braucht, wenn man sie sieht. Hätte ich nicht den heißesten Tag der Woche erwischt, ich wäre wohl für Stunden in diesem wunderschönen Laden verschwunden und hätte sicher auch noch ein Stück Kuchen und eine Tasse Tee genossen und ein oder zwei Bücher erstanden. So habe ich mich auf das Notwendige beschränkt und wunderschöne und hochwertige Wolle erstanden. Ich war auf unserer Urlaubsreise dort und werde beim hoffentlich nächsten Besuch in Volkach definitiv wieder reinschauen!

Once you find the entrance, you'll be surprised by the romantic ambiance. The food is amazing!

The Silvaner cream soup was delicious, and the Schäuferla (a kind of sauerkraut) was top-notch, just as it should be. But that's to be expected given the high prices. You'd feel completely at home here, if it weren't for the flies. Intrusive blowflies, and not just a few. The dog watering area was very dirty, and when we asked for water for our dog, we were directed to the drinking troughs. They finally agreed to bring us fresh water.

We were there as a couple and both had the salad plate with steak and a shandy. As requested, the steaks were cooked medium and medium-rare. The house-made shandy was very tasty and not too sweet. We were able to reserve a table at very short notice and sat under the well-air-conditioned screen in a cozy, relaxed atmosphere. The servers were friendly and professional, the food arrived quickly, and the prices, although a bit high, were reasonable.

Yesterday, we went to dinner at Hinterhöfle with the family. We were served pleasantly, and the food had just been brought to our table when the first few bites practically stuck in our throats because we witnessed an argument between two waitresses that completely ruined our appetites: An older waitress pushed a young waitress out of the way and then loudly insulted her with such foul language that we lost our sight and hearing! Needless to say, our evening was ruined! As a guest, you shouldn't have to put yourself through that, and pay for it, too! Completely unacceptable!

We were there for dinner today. Liver dumpling soup and antipasti 2 shoulders of pork, all absolutely excellent. The service was prompt and very friendly. Thank you for that. We'll be back and highly recommend the Hinterhöfle.

We stopped by Volkach on our way back from vacation. Here we came across this superb location. We asked if we could get a table for five. The extremely friendly waitress told us that unfortunately, everything was currently fully booked. She then reserved a table for us for 5:30 p.m. We were greeted and served very courteously. The staff, no matter who came to our table, were all very nice and friendly. The food and drinks were served in a very timely manner. All five of us were very impressed with the food; it tasted excellent, and the portions were also very generous. If we ever make it back to Volkach, we would definitely pay this place another visit. All in all, 5 stars. A slight point deduction for the bratwurst, which subjectively seems to be a bit unusually prepared, so it's best to ask the very friendly waitress again. The shoulder of pork, on the other hand, is highly recommended! The ambiance, which successfully combines old and new styles, has a relaxing, tranquil feel. I'd be happy to go back.

Even though the restaurant was full to capacity, we received great service and the food was great! If you can respond to every guest in a friendly manner, even when it's busy, then I'm not worried about ever getting bad service here.

The food was way too salty. We had 4 different dishes, all of which were way too salty. I couldn't finish all of my food due to the salt content. The ambience and service are great! Unfortunately, the menu doesn't offer many vegetarian dishes that fill you up (I leave out the salad and antipasti plate). PS: I hope the chef's infatuation is reciprocated
