Delicious food, modern Franconian dishes, many organic and affordable

A cool place, you could almost walk past it if you didn't take an interested look into the courtyard. The lady who served us was very attentive and did an excellent job. Thank you for our group picture. Now to the food, a highlight. I decided on the Franconian snack.....and yes, I admit I would happily travel another 150 kilometers for that. First class products. My friends also chose delicious dishes. Unfortunately it was only enough for a fruit spritzer, I would have liked to drink a wine or beer with it...150 kilometers of driving spoke against it. Gladly again.

During my 6-day vacation in Volkach, we ate dinner in a different restaurant every evening and the food in every restaurant was very good. When we visited the restaurant the day before, it was clear to us that nothing would work here without a reservation. A lot of money was invested here to restore the old inner courtyard and make it what it is today. Everything is just right here, from the pictures to the lighting. During the rush hour around 7:00 p.m., the entire staff including the boss must be fully prepared and friendly in order to satisfy all guests. There is nothing wrong with the food, neither the taste nor the portion size nor the waiting time. Of course, many guests create a background noise, but with the suspended acoustic cubes, everything possible was done to reduce the noise level. Regarding the prices, I have to say that the days of being able to pay for a meal with an apple and an egg are over. The important thing is to leave the restaurant full and satisfied.

Having come to eat in this restaurant by chance, we were pleasantly surprised by the interior courtyard with plant pergola. Very good sausages (bradwurst) accompanied by potato salad or cabbage/bread. To discover...

We were in the Hinterhöfle in Volkach for the first time. Had reserved a table. The service was good and prompt. The food came quickly and was quite good too. However, the glass roof is not tight and because it was raining, it dripped on the table as well as on us the entire time. That was very annoying and also disturbing. The prices for both the food (bread dumplings €23) and the drinks (shandy €5) are very expensive. Too bad!

We were guests in the romantic Hinterhöfle on Thursday (Assumption Day) after a Main loop tour with 12 people. Positive: Very nice atmosphere, fast, attentive and friendly service. The quality of the food was consistently good and very attractively presented. The farmer's bread was very tasty and could also be reordered free of charge Rather negatively noticed: In my opinion the prices are overpriced, both drinks and food. 13.50 euros for a small terrine of Pichelsteiner stew with bratwurst meat! 33.00 euros for a salad plate with strips of beef fillet! 14.50 euros for a pair of manageably large bratwursts with potato salad, which, according to the waiter, comes from a can, but is refined (chives and cress) embarrassing....!!! Shortly after we placed our food order at around 4 p.m., a board with a reservation for 6:15 p.m. was placed on our table with an emphatic gesture. The waitress then kindly reminded us of this several times 45 minutes before it was due to expire. This gives the impression that you want to achieve the highest possible customer throughput and gently but firmly encourage the customers who have already made most of their consumption contribution to leave... unacceptable for my taste !!! Since I was embarrassed by the potato salad in 2018, before Corona in this one What happened to the establishment, back then at a price of 8.50 euros (which was already high back then), me and my friends will probably think twice about visiting again. Tourist rip-off, what a shame...

Very nice restaurant in Volkach were there at lunchtime. The food was very tasty, the wine spritzer too, but the price was probably €1 cheaper😉 otherwise everything was fine.

Hinterhöfle Biergarten is a beautiful place to enjoy a snack and a drink. Located in an almost hidden street of the touristy Volkach, this beer garden offers a unique atmosphere that you don't often encounter. The large parasols and the picturesque courtyard create an almost idyllic environment, where tradition and innovation come together in a surprising way. It is a place that is both aesthetically pleasing and cozy. During our visit we enjoyed the bratwurst with potato salad and an antipasti. Although both dishes tasted good, they were not special or distinctive. The prices are on the high side, but that is to be expected in a village that mainly relies on tourism. Despite the slightly higher prices, Hinterhöfle is definitely worth a visit. The unique atmosphere and charming setting make it a fun experience for those looking for a special place to relax.

Nice atmosphere, 15 minute wait to order and hungry crowd. Service is always friendly, even when the group is annoyed. Food overpriced. Were here before Corona and were horrified now. The taste of the food was bland, although the quality was good. One of the most expensive restaurants in town, if not the most expensive. Before corona, the world was fine. Now we wouldn't come anymore. A pair of bratwursts 14.50, a Nogo as a Nuremberger. No price/performance ratio. Basically about 5 euros higher than elsewhere.

Hinterhöfle is a hidden gem in the middle of the old town of Volkach. The beautiful courtyard is a green oasis with a glass roof that creates a unique atmosphere. It is the perfect place to enjoy delicious wine and food, especially for a romantic evening for two. The combination of good food, cozy atmosphere and friendly service makes Hinterhöfle a must for every visitor to Volkach.

A very nice backyard, have been here a few times. But yesterday for the last time. The prices are disproportionate. Exorbitant prices. One can already speak of a rip-off. Not only are tourists being ripped off, but locals are too. A pity.

We have been to this restaurant several times. The location is very well designed & the food is very good, the drinks menu is extensive. The price level is correspondingly high. Unfortunately, when the place is full, the acoustics are bad, so it gets very loud. In our opinion, the service staff are at their limit, which is not good for guests and the restaurant. There is a need for action here. Nevertheless, a visit to the restaurant is recommended.

It's a shame that a beautiful restaurant with an exceptional ambience was not satisfactory in terms of price-performance ratio when it came to the food. Unfortunately, the hope that something would change/improve as a result of the change in management was not fulfilled. The large salad plate with huge and difficult-to-cut lettuce leaves of the cheapest kind, various other types of salad, three small pieces of white bread and a dressing costs a whopping €15.00. Five sticks of asparagus that were too hard and not seasoned, with two potatoes and butter, for €21.50 and the crowning glory was two bratwursts for €10.00. At €5.00 for a shandy and €5.50 for a secco spritzer, the drinks were still within the normal range these days. It should also be noted that when the reservation was made, the reason for the visit, in this case a birthday, was asked and was not taken into account and the waitress did not respond to the comment that everything was not okay. All in all, this might have been the last visit to this restaurant.

We were skeptical at first, as seen from the entrance it looked like a dark "backyard restaurant" as the name suggests, but were then extremely pleasantly surprised when we saw that the back yard was a huge winter garden. Great ambience, excellent Franconian cuisine, friendly service, what more could you want!

Completely overpriced, but that's our fault, as we were warned by several locals about the “tourist trap”. Nice restaurant but few negative things to mention. It was raining outside and the water came inside to restaurant...!!? Personnel did not react at all. We had to move our table by ourselves. After the main course the service personnel disappeared. We then wanted to order desert but the service personnel just said "kitchen had Feierabend"....so it was not possible to order dessert because kitchen closed....But the service personnel never asked us about if we want dessert. So, finally we got no chance to order dessert. This is so typical in German restaurants unfortunately. The business is so good that they simply discard the customers and not even offer the basic offering, like " would you like something for dessert". So bad and unpolite unfortunately.....

We were a large group and went to eat here. Ambiance and location very nice. But I think that you can eat much better in Franconia for these prices. But the food was still tasty. But we would probably eat here again as the food and the ambience were very nice.

Everything is of high quality - service, location and food! I thought the menu was so cool and deciding what to order was so difficult that one visit wasn't nearly enough for me. See you soon, I'm already looking forward to it. :)

All around successful restaurant. Food service and ambience were successful. Gladly again. I highly recommend the Silvaner asparagus cream soup and the asparagus.

My stew was quite tasty and well seasoned, unfortunately some of the vegetables were woody and husky, the large salad was a 3 in terms of taste + tomatoes, yes cocktail tomatoes, for me, should be chopped small (i.e. halved at least once) and without stems, Especially at such prices, I expect correspondingly good food! The service is attentive and friendly, the atmosphere is rustic.

What always captivates me about the wonderfully fresh food is the wonderfully beautiful ambience but also the fact that, despite my son's severe disability in a wheelchair, we now have massive eating and drinking problems and don't have the feeling of being unwelcome. THIS is priceless and wonderful that it also includes the most valuable thing and that is called humanity... THANKS

Unfortunately, our expectations were in no way met during our visit to Hinterhöfle yesterday. Beverages: Beer warm, pint of Kerner ice cold (I had it, that's how it should be), other types of wine, whether bottle or pint, were too warm Eat: Schäuferla good, unfortunately completely overpriced at 23.50 for francs. Schnitzel wafer-thin, hardly any meat, with a bitter aftertaste, no idea what kind of fat it was fried in. Asparagus overcooked, for 21.50 just with potatoes I don't expect limp asparagus spears that look like they come from a jar at Aldi. Chicken breast not fried, steamed rather tastelessly, no roasted aromas whatsoever. Char fillets are fried to death. And at these prices the absolute impudence - the potato salad is not homemade, but from a 20 liter bucket from the wholesaler - easily recognizable by the machine-cut potato slices of exactly the same thickness. The only homemade thing in this potato salad was a handful of chives and raw onions, which also tasted obtrusive. Service: The only bright spot. The friendly lady professionally ironed out all the mistakes in the kitchen and on the counter. The beer got colder towards the end of the evening. Asparagus without potatoes please, just a side salad - of course it came with potatoes, schnitzel with salad - of course it came with potato salad, the side dishes were exchanged very quickly by our waitress. That was the last visit to Hinterhöfle for the time being. At this price level you can no longer score points with the original ambience alone. However, there are many good inns in the Volkach/Nordheim/Sommerach/Escherndorf area that are reasonably priced and serve traditional Franconian home cooking.

Food is averagely good to higher priced. However, at some point the service disappears completely and after 45 minutes of waiting, when you order the nightlife you are told that the kitchen is closed at 8.30 p.m. (time 9:15 p.m.)…if you want to keep guests, you can rely on service even in the off-season. The supposedly responsible restaurant manager/at the same time the said service person is rude when directly criticized... you don't need it. There are restaurateurs in the neighborhood who value their guests.

When we are in Volkach, the Hinterhöfle is a must. Very good food, nice service and a great ambience in the former courtyard. You should take a look and try it out.

The food and the location are excellent. Unfortunately, the service failed. The waitress apparently took a break herself and left the entire dining room alone for a good 30 minutes. Many were sitting in front of empty glasses, we would have liked to order dessert. When she came back, she spent the next fifteen minutes clearing all the tables. Even those who were already abandoned. She didn't take orders at first. I understand that employees take breaks, but not without taking care of replacement.

There were four of us and I can say that everyone enjoyed it. We will be back
