Herr Käthe in Torgau

Beim Ankommen wurde uns unfreundlich gesagt, Sitzkissen und Speisekarte sollen wir uns selbst nehmen und nach einem Tisch suchen. Auf eine Bedienung haben wir vergeblich gewartet und sind deshalb wieder gegangen. Der Nachbartisch wurde ebenfalls ignoriert

Wer Torgau besucht, muss einen Abstecher ins „Herr Käthe“ machen. Essen 10/10, Ambiente 10/10, Service 10/10! Sowohl Vorspeise als auch Hauptspeise waren auf den Punkt gegart. Die Speisen waren wunderbar angerichtet. Wir würden „Herr Käthe“ jederzeit wieder besuchen!

Wir hätten alles von der Karte essen können aber leider sind wir nur einen Tag hier! Überzeugt euch selbst von diesem hervorragenden Essen .

Ich würde gerne 0 Sterne vergeben!!! Es geht hierbei um das Etablissement im Torgauer Schloss. Nie schlechter bedient worden. Um genau zu sagen gar nicht. Wir sind extra rein und haben uns sogar angemeldet, dass wir uns setzen und haben gefragt, ob dann jemand kommt. Es wurde bejaht. Nach 18 Minuten und unzähligen Malen, die die beiden Bediendamen an uns vorbei gingen, uns sogar teilweise angesehen haben, sind wir gegangen.

Sehr interessantes Restaurant: etwas versteckt kann man hier wunderbar essen. Der Service ist sehr gut und das Essen lecker und nicht typischer Alltags-Standard. Wer gern Neues ausprobiert und frische Gerichte mag, is(s)t hier absolut richtig.

Uriges Lokal in der Altstadt - sehr netter Empfang durch die Bedienung - das Essen war fantastisch - wurde sehr schnell serviert - knackiges frisches Gemüse und super gewürzt - ansprechend angerichtet und das Fleisch auf den gewünschten Garpunkt gebraten - selbstgemachte Kartoffelbällchen - wirklich sehr lecker - es war ein Geschmackserlebnis - ein großes Dankeschön und klare Weiterempfehlung

Wir hatten ein Tisch im Außenbereich vorbestellt, welchen wir dann auf Grund des Wetter gegen einen im Inneren tauschen konnten. Die nette Bedienung bracht sehr schnell das Essen und kam auch mehrmals fragen, ob alles in Ordnung ist. Das Essen selber war frisch und lecker.

Sehr geschmackvoll im alten Ambiente eingerichtet.Das Essen war mal was besonderes, ausgefallen und gut. Eine Vielzahl der Speisen auch als kleine Portion zu bekommen, weiter so.

Habe heute hier Mittag gegessen, gefüllte Hähnchenbrust, mit überbackenem Gemüse und Soße. War das lecker! Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich, aber nicht die schnellste. Die Atmosphäre lädt zum Wiederkommen ein.

Torgau an einem Samstag... Das Restaurant war zwar offen aber nach einigen Minuten am Tresen und mehrfachen Läuten... Es kam einfach niemand der uns bedienen wollte. Damit kann das Essen nicht bewertet werden. Zudem war der Eindruck vom Ambiente merkwürdig, voller alte Dinge und alles in die Jahre gekommen.

Das HERR KÄTHE bietet eine tolle und phantasievolle Karte zu gehobenen Preisen in mittelalterlicher Schankumgebung. Unsere Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und unser Durst und Hunger groß. Wir wurden sehr freundlich nach unseren Wünschen und auch dem Nachschub gefragt. Es war schön hier zu speisen und wir bekamen auch noch eine Frage nach der Torgauer Innenstadt und dem 🏰 beantwortet. Gern komme ich mit meiner Familie wieder, denn gestern HER KÄTHE (nur) eine Station auf einer langen Fahrt nach Hause. Geschäftstermine haben es halt manchmal in sich.

Mit den Kollegen lecker gegessen, rustikales Ambiente

Der Gastraum ist schön eingerichtet und die Kellnerin war nett, wenn sie mal nicht in der Küche war. Das gewickelte Huhn war extrem süß durch Kokosmilch und Rohr(?)zucker und das Gemüse war aus der Tiefkühltruhe. Ein Bier 5:30€...ich werde nicht wieder hingehen.

Gemütlich, ungewöhnlich, hervorragende Küche und sehr freundliche Bedienung. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Hier kommt man gerne wieder. Die Gerichte sind bemerkenswert gut (sehr gut!). Das Personal ist kompetent, aufmerksam und sehr nett. Ich freue mich schon auf nächstes Jahr, dann ist wieder Familientreffen. Und wir sind wieder bei Herr Käthe.

We were a group of six for dinner at the restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive. But the food was definitely a mixed bag. There was some very good food, but also some that weren't so good. My relative ordered the "Surf and Turf" grilled rump steak with a crispy crust and a king prawn skewer. It was supposed to be really good, and it looked good too. A thick steak, grilled medium. But I ordered the "Happy Bull." Grilled beef fillet with fries and vegetables. So, for the price of €32, and after asking if it should be grilled medium, I expected a nice piece of grilled fillet. In contrast to the rump steak, I received two thin slices of sous-vide cooked meat instead. Which, of course, wasn't medium with such thin slices. We also ordered "A Modern Classic." A large veal schnitzel with vegetable gratin. Well, you can't really call it large. It's a perfectly ordinary schnitzel, which is actually quite small. With a soggy breading on the underside of the tough and very heavily seasoned schnitzel.

The ambiance is good if you're looking for a rustic experience. However, the dishes are a bit odd, both in terms of the names and the combination of vegetables. I'm convinced the chef intentionally selects the worst vegetables in the world for his dishes.

We ordered for 4 people on October 11, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Excellent food, very friendly service. Unfortunately, we were explicitly asked, but politely (!), to vacate the table after an hour. We would have liked to finish our drinks in peace. Nevertheless, the quality of the food and service were very good.

A ray of hope in Germany's service desert. A fine restaurant offering sophisticated cuisine, reflected not only in the quality but also in the creativity of its dishes. In summer, it also features a beer garden with a Mediterranean flair.

After a visit to the enchanting castle, we just wanted a quick bite to eat on a rainy Monday evening. After walking through the door into a very quaint, beautifully decorated taproom, we were not only greeted and served very warmly, but also treated to a fantastic meal. Rustic ambiance meets modern, yet regional cuisine. We were offered both vegetarian and gluten-free options (all allergens are clearly indicated), and everything was delicious at a fair price! The seasonal pumpkin soup was also really good!

Nice atmosphere, very tasty food, pleasant service

The restaurant is located in a squat old half-timbered house in Torgau. The name itself is striking, but what intrigued us most was the original menu, which can be viewed on the website. We didn't regret our visit to Mr. Käthe's! Anyone expecting nothing but bland home cooking will have their eyes opened by the starter soup. Sweet potato soup with shrimp skewers - where else can you find that? Well, right here, at Mr. Käthe's. Not only was the sweet potato soup perfectly balanced – not too sweet, not too savory, not too sour – the shrimp were also a delight. And then the main course. The decision was difficult; you can't have everything. I opted for a maritime version again, perhaps because I'm so sensitive to the water; the Elbe River isn't that far away, who knows. In any case, the "stuffed mermaid" on its bed of green seaweed and two tomatoes was a taste sensation that you definitely don't get every day. The homemade fries and herb dip also deserve a special mention. The portions were so large that we unfortunately didn't get to try the desserts. No problem, now we have another destination to try on our next visit to Torgau. The food was also top-notch: Particularly noteworthy were the friendly and detailed advice and the prompt service. The decor is simple but nice. You can also pay by card.

Four of us ate here. Delicious and we'll be back. We'll be back.

Gladly again very attentive and tasty

We were there one weekday evening. A lovely, cozy courtyard invites you to sit and enjoy the local dark beer. A fantastic selection of dishes, all with great names, was served. It was difficult to decide. We followed the waitress's suggestion and had a super delicious fish dish, followed by dessert. A restaurant I only visit every few years, unfortunately, due to the distance. But I'll definitely be back. Keep up the good work.

What a fantastic meal! This initially unassuming restaurant should be considered an insider tip. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and this perfectly seasoned, harmonious dish (beef fillet, salad, etc.) isn't cheap at €30, but it definitely deserves that price! The ambiance could be better, but it's perfectly adequate. I'll definitely be back, even if I'm not from Torgau!!!!! Great food! Thank you!!! 😃

Small, cute restaurant with a new interpretation of German cuisine. Many dishes can be had in small portions. Vegetarians also get their money's worth. Have eaten there at least 10 times in the last three years. Quality consistently good.

Food and beer were very good. The meat was cooked to perfection. The service was very friendly, but it could generate more sales if guests were asked more often. The plaster or wall paint is also starting to crumble in one place or another. The prices are within reasonable limits. Would give 4.5 stars.

We have been to Herr Käthe many times. So far we have always been satisfied. This time the vegetarian dish “Meeting of the Vegetable Peoples” caused severe vomiting diarrhea in two people. We don't know what was different this time.

I didn't make a reservation, just visited because I was hungry, fully booked but still a time slot of 90 minutes to eat for two people, the food was really great, definitely stop by and enjoy, praise to the kitchen and the service.

If you're waiting for your food, you should take a look upstairs. Beams that lie on sandstone supports are not that common. Then there was the design of the ceilings and walls - I liked it. But now to the essentials when you come here to eat: I had to come here twice so that I could try the beef after the pork. I enjoyed it very much, the service is really great - I'll be back next time in Torgau!

We spontaneously stopped by Mr. Käthe's and received a friendly welcome. The young waitress was very competent, friendly and helpful. Thanks for that! The food was excellent. Well seasoned and yet balanced and delicately seasoned so that all the flavor nuances came into play. Even the homemade mulled wine was perfect and the coffee was strong but tasty. The price was more than reasonable and the portions were plentiful. 😊

Very friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. It was a bit cold inside at the end of September, but we didn't spend much time there anyway after we finished our meal. The reason I give 4/5 stars is that all three dishes, although different, had the same, almost boring taste. In my opinion, the vegetables were undercooked, but of course there are people who like them crispy. The seasonings used were very simple – just salt and pepper.

After two hours of driving through the rain, we arrived at this very cozy restaurant and had the opportunity to warm up and have a really good meal. The service was great and the staff was warm and courteous. Highly recommended.

After almost 20 years I was a guest here again. I was really looking forward to it. The food was again extremely tasty, good portions and very creative, just like back then. For me it was a pleasure again. Very friendly and loving service. Reservation is always better. It's nice that "Mr. Käthe" still exists, keep it up. I'd love to come back

So we got to Torgau at a weird hour between lunch and dinner. We wanted more than beer but less than dinner, and the staff was very accommodating with our request for beers and a cheese plate. Couldn't believe the quality and artistry of the cheese plate. Beautiful and delicious. We sat outside in a shaded, private courtyard, ate said plate, and a had a couple of beers. Idyllic ❤️.

Ein rumsteck mit Pfifferling und Bratkartoffeln was perfekt war! Bratkartoffeln mit biss nicht überwürzt Pfifferlinge Frisch mit Sahnesauce und das Steak a Point. Großes Kompliment! Service sehr umsichtig. Leider konnte die Köchin das Kompliment aufgrund von eingehenden Bestellungen nicht persönlich in empfang nehmen. Komme auf alle Fälle wieder.
