Great restaurant with friendly, casual service and a really courteous chef, an absolute must on every visit to Kaiserslautern

An evening in the bistro is time that you invest in your own soul. After you arrive, you can just sit back and wait to see what fine things the kitchen will conjure up (seasonal menu without menu). It's so much more fun to enjoy excellent-tasting food when you know that the products mostly come from the region and that some of them are organically grown. The courtyard garden is wonderful, everything in and around the restaurant is sparkling clean and arranged with attention to detail. The atmosphere is relaxed, familiar and cozy. You have the feeling of being cooked for by good friends in a small group.

The restaurant is very comfortably furnished, we had a 4-course menu and everything tasted very good, there was nothing to complain about, would happily go again..

I haven't eaten so well in a long time. I was impressed by the creative and interesting dishes and also the good wine selection. The service team is very friendly and attentive. Thank you for the lovely evening.

After two good experiences, the bistro is a high-priced, culinary disgrace when it comes to our dinner with friends. Hopefully this is a one-off slip-up from a restaurant with a very good reputation.

A different restaurant that you have to be prepared for. The restaurant is small but nice, very nice atmosphere. The bistro can accommodate an estimated 20 people. The noise level in the fully occupied room was still ok. There was also the option of seating outside, but given the weather conditions, this was not an option. The service was attentive, nice, friendly and different. When we visited there was only a menu, but it was all a surprise, so no menu either. As it was explained to us, Mr. Jakob goes shopping and depending on what he gets, he makes something of it. There is that too! For people who don't have an aversion to certain foods, this is ok. I have no idea how it works with vegans or vegetarians. It's best to inquire by phone. Our starter consisted of various plates, some simple such as: B. Tomatoes with mozzarella, but also a venison sausage with a pumpkin puree, or a mixed salad, then a kind of quiche with avocado cream, with home-baked bread. The dressing for the salad is excellent! The pumpkin puree was even better for me. Probably the best pumpkin puree I've ever tasted. The main courses were either shrimp with a kind of rigatoni, in a tomato mango? Sauce. Also very, very good. Alternatively pulpo with risotto. As an intermediate course, a piece of corn puree with celery cream was served. The dessert consisted of half a crepe with pickled grapes, a sauce and blobs of foam and a scoop of sorbet? Since there was no menu to read, it wasn't always easy for me to assign all the dishes exactly. In terms of taste, all of the dishes appealed to us, although the dessert wasn't quite right for me personally - it's just a matter of taste. The price for this very good menu was fair at 69 euros per head. The only downer for me was the price of the wines. 250ml Cote du Rhone for 12 euros and 10 € for a Pinot Gris is not a bargain to put it that way. Even if the wine was good, it could have been done better. Maybe by expanding the red range a little, e.g. B. with a Primitivo or even Ribero del Duoro, which are also available inexpensively. All in all, it was a very successful evening that will definitely be repeated, surprise, surprise. In order to be able to improve the Barbarossa city's tarnished culinary reputation, this restaurant helps significantly with the quality it offers! Hope it stays that way.

The Bistro Mr. Jacobs totally surprised and thrilled me. The menu sequence over the four hours increased with each course. Just great. All products fresh and delicious. Here we cook with passion and show hospitality. We'd love to come back.

Hatten das Menü. Das Essen ist frisch vor unseren Augen zubereitet worden, ein echtes Erlebnis! 😍 Wenn man etwas außergewöhnliches sucht, ist man hier richtig.

Was ein wunderschöner Abend!!! Für alle Geniesser und Wertschätzer der kulinarisch gehobenen Küche! Ich kannte Herrn Jacobs Talente der Kochkunst durch ein Catering, welches Er und sein Team hervorragend umgesetzt und durchgeführt hatten..ich war und bin noch immer begeistert, nun wollte ich auch die Erfahrung und Gastfreundschaft vor Ort erleben und mir fehlen fast die richtigen Worte dieses Erlebnis zusammenzufassen! Von Anfang bis Ende hatten wir uns gut aufgehoben gefühlt und ließen uns gerne auf das Abenteuer "Überraschungsmenü" ein. Nachdem nach Allergien und nach eventuellem gewünschtem Ausschluss einer Zutat, gefragt wurde ging es auch schon los mit super freundlichen, laid-back , dennoch aufmerksamen Servicemitarbeiter! Schöne Auswahl an Getränken zu den verschiedenen Gängen und jeder Gang war ein Traum! Fast 4 Stunden verbrachten wir dort. Pappsatt, konnten aber nicht aufhören zu essen, da es soooo lecker war! Ganz ganz tolle Gastgeber!!! Super Essen, jeden Cent wert Auch schön, der offene Blick in die Küche vorm Betreten des Gastraums. Unique in Kaiserslautern. We had a really nice experience. High quality food prepared with love and an eye for detail. There is no "a la carte". The chef cooks with local and seasonal ingredients (and he prepares it kind of right in front of you because the kitchen is in the restaurant). So the menu is always different depending on what is available at the time. And I personally hate choosing something from a menu - so I loved this. We went with the ”surprise menu" which contained many small delicious courses which will definitely test your taste buds. They'll ask you about allergies in advance and prepare accordingly to that. Really nice choice of local wines that go well with the food. Friendly staff willing to adjust to your needs in a cozy environment. We were amazed about the bill because we thought it would be way higher. Feels like you get a lot for your money. Don't get me wrong - it's not cheap but worth every penny spent. My wife and I loved it and will definitely go again.

Wie zuhause - trotz Pandemie umsorgt Herr Jacobs seine Gäste kulinarisch und zwischenmenschlich vom feinsten! Erwähnenswert für Geschäftsreisende, dass hier eine Verpflegung am Abend möglich ist und das sehr individuell & auch vegetarisch, vielen Dank, ich freue mich auf den nächsten Besuch!
