Helena Greek Restaurant in Nürnberg

We have been regular guests for many years and have had a dog for four weeks. When making the reservation I asked if she could come and since she is still a puppy, it wasn't a problem. She slept well in her bag. I can understand that large dogs could be a problem if they aren't well-behaved.

No dogs allowed - very discriminatory for all dog owners!

5 stars – My favorite Greek restaurant in Nuremberg! I've been to the Helena restaurant in St. Johannis several times now - and have been thrilled every time. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and the atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed. You immediately feel welcome and like you are with friends. I would particularly like to highlight the stuffed calamari – tender, aromatic and perfectly prepared. Every detail on the plate shows how much love and skill goes into cooking here. The side dishes and wines are also excellently matched. Whether for a relaxed evening for two or a meal with friends - Helena has become my go-to address when I'm in the mood for authentic Greek cuisine. Unreserved recommendation!

We have been regular customers at Helene for years and it has never been a problem to bring our little 8kg Havanese with us. He is extremely well behaved and lies under the table and doesn't make a sound. This time we were treated like lepers. We stated on the phone that we had our dog with us, but we were very reluctant to get a table. When we arrived the "waiter" told us our dog was borderline...aha. Whatever he meant... Since Helena has recently become so dog-unfriendly, we won't be going there anymore. 3 points because the food was very good, but the side salad shrank extremely, as did the saganaki and the seafood salad. A good 1/3 was left out. Very unfortunate. Of course I can understand that there are certainly dogs that are annoying and yapping and aren't as well-behaved as ours, but then you have to say that dogs are no longer allowed. But not from above that our dog is borderline. There are enough other Greeks in Nuremberg.

First of all, we didn't even get the chance to try the food, but we only heard positive things about the quality of the dishes on offer, hence 4 stars. We were there on Sunday at 5 p.m. and had politely asked for a table for 4 people. We were made to understand in an extremely unfriendly and shameless manner how stupid you can be to show up here without a reservation... we were "asked" to leave the restaurant both verbally and with a corresponding gesture. Personally, I'm very happy that some innkeepers have now returned to the "old" mentality after complaining during Corona...great... I will NOT recommend this restaurant under ANY circumstances! Drive a few blocks further, there are also very, very tasty and, above all, FRIENDLY Greek restaurants where you are valued as a guest. Service: very bad! Ambiance: getting old!

Reservations are required. We've been there several times now, spontaneously. Unfortunately, you can't go there spontaneously anymore. But the food is still very good.

5 stars are actually not enough for this great family restaurant and this great service. In short, it was simply amazing. Now the explanation why: We were able to make a reservation for the same evening by phone without any problem. We were immediately welcomed in a friendly manner and welcomed with an ouzo, so we immediately felt at home. It was a very friendly and relaxed interaction - as it should be. Like you're having dinner with your family. The food was really first class. Special requests were no problem. While others are upset about it, it wasn't worth mentioning here. That doesn't actually exist anymore. Special requests are easily made possible here. Thank you for that. The calamari are incredibly delicious. I would love to take her home with me. You can simply taste that everything here is made in-house and it's not just any finished product. There's a lot of love here. You can see this in the service and in the many small loving gestures. A family business through and through. So if you're ever visiting Nuremberg, like us, we can only warmly recommend a visit here (you should, of course, make a reservation). We thank you for the wonderful evening and the great exchange. The Swabians wish you good luck for the future. If we ever come to Nuremberg again, it will definitely be because we want to eat with you again.

The guy at the bar was very rude saying it’s full and will give us no table without previous reservation. The restaurant was empty and his tone of voice was very rude.

This is kind of a interesting spot one of my colleagues who’s actually Greek told me about it. The food was kind of Greek, but not really in some regards it’s hard to really explain. However, it was nice to have a salad and grilled chicken. it was healthy and prepared well. They have some great beers on tap too Overall a good spot I would go back to.

Recommended by a friend from Nuremberg, we went, in his company, to this Greek restaurant located not too far from the city center. The friendly owner accompanied us to the table and before taking our order we also had a chat with him. We had three appetizers, three second courses, two desserts and a Greek coffee. All truly exquisite and made according to the canons of Greek cuisine. The Gyros and the calamari dish were amazing. Recommended if you want to taste a bit of Greece in the middle of Bavaria.

Rude service. I wouldn't recommend eating here. They act like they're doing you a favor by letting you eat there, when really they should be grateful and polite to customers.

The sudden ban on dogs was not communicated on the phone or through signs on the door. The rejection of regular guests was not done by the boss but by another old man who didn't say a word and only turned us away with wild hand movements, as if he was trying to dance Macarena. Only when I asked was I subtly insulted as to why I was too stupid not to mention dogs when making a reservation. As a responsible dog owner, I always do this to 1. avoid such restaurants immediately and forever and 2. so that you don't get a seat in the middle of the store so as not to disturb guests. I so regret having supported you during Corona with collections at exorbitant prices. You retroactively deserved to go bankrupt! I have never encountered such interaction with customers. But I'm just angry with myself for not recognizing the owners' character sooner. In retrospect, I also ask myself what we wanted there. It was probably the proximity to the apartment. The food is absolutely average, the prices and portions are slowly approaching the star range. It hasn't been renovated in 50 years and you can always see the waitresses with cigarettes in their hands and that's what it smells like too.

The staff is so unfriendly and you will never go there

In my opinion, service was very unfriendly and stressful. I was shouted at, pushed away and had my eyes rolled when I paid. I will no longer eat here and will not recommend the restaurant

The portion sizes are manageable. But the prices are relatively high. The quality is average.

Simply the best Greek in Nuremberg. Great service and incredibly friendly. Helena has been around for over 40 years and I've been eating there for almost as long. The dishes that go beyond the usual Greek standards are particularly recommended!

We were last here about a year ago. Overall we were very satisfied again. Courteous service that responded to our wishes at all times, good food and an extremely pleasant conversation with the boss. Looking forward to the next time

The Pizza Mare was cut into small pieces at my request, it tasted good and had good toppings. The staff was very accommodating. Price performance is right

Probably just ate the best gyros of my life here. I've always liked it here because it has a nice hint of paprika. But today it was perfect. At the same time tender and juicy and yet crispy on the outside with great grilled flavors. Chapeau for this great taste experience.

Easily reserved by phone. The boss was standing at the door when we arrived and he immediately knew which reservation we had and which table we should go to. Nice ambience inside. Order professional, friendly and quick and even addressed by name. Food came in quick to normal time. Food very tasty, well seasoned and portion appropriate. Staff always present but unobtrusive, perfect. While we were leaving, we had a quick chat with the boss, a restaurateur of the old school, so others can learn a lesson from that. It was the first visit here and certainly not the last.

I was here for the first time. Warm welcome, family-run restaurant. I ate gyros gratinated with Metaxa sauce and a small salad. Food was hot and above all very tasty. The drinks were accompanied by delicious ouzu and at the end of the meal a very good coconut cake. The price for food and drinks was reasonable. All in one: I would love to come back here.

We have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Great food and ambience, the staff and the boss are just great. In summer you can also sit beautifully in the garden. Price/performance is reasonable these days. Always my pleasure.

Unfortunately we fell for the food. Unfortunately my taramas only consists of mayo and pink color, unfortunately I got so sick that I had to throw up. Fish platter was so-so. Friend her baby calamari were too black and therefore very bitter. Will not recommend the restaurant and will not visit it again.

Super fast service. Unfortunately my food wasn't that great. Not good quality meat. For almost 18 euros you should be able to expect more. My friend's baked casserole was very dark and over-seasoned. A pity. Let's see if we come back. Maybe in the summer when you can sit outside.

Bestes griechisches Restaurant im Umkreis. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wir wurden sehr freundlich bedient. Man bekommt nicht das Gefühl vermittelt, als wäre man nur einfach mal zum Essen dort. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl dort. Zur Rechnung gibt es sogar noch ein Mini-Dessert. Haben wir in Deutschland noch bei keinem Griechen erlebt. Nur die Parkplatz-Situation ist etwas schwierig, aber da kann das Restaurant ja nichts dafür. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Best Greek restaurant in the area. The food was very tasty and we were served very friendly. You don't get the feeling that you're just there to eat. We felt very comfortable there. There's even a mini dessert to go with the bill. We have never experienced this from any Greek in Germany. Only the parking situation is a bit difficult, but the restaurant can't do anything about it. We'd love to come back.

Es ist immer wieder schön dort zu essen

Wenn man ein Gericht ohne Pilze bestellt, dann sollte es ohne Pilze sein. Als das Gericht ankam und ich sofort gerochen habe, dass doch Pilze darin enthalten sind, war die Antwort des Kellners: die Soße wird vorher gemacht und es kann sein, dass noch Pilze enthalten sind. Was an sich vollkommen ok ist, aber das sollte bei der Bestellung gesagt werden, dass das Gericht ohne Pilze nicht möglich ist. Danach dann komisch angeschaut zu werden, weil mein ein Gericht wegen "ein paar Pilzen" zurück gibt, ist weniger professionell. Danach wurde mir natürlich ein anderes Gericht angeboten und ich musste das bestellte Gericht nicht bezahlen. Fazit: Anfangs super schlecht gemacht, danach richtig gehandelt.

Sehr leckeres Essen! Der Vorspeisen Teller bietet eine große Anzahl verschiedener leckerein, die man sich wunderbar teilen kann. Die Bedienung war super freundlich und hilfsbereit , alles kann pünklich und warm am Tisch an....Auch Parkplätze gab es direkt vorm Lokal. Von mit eine klare Empfehlung für einen schönen Abend. Das Essen war einfach Spitze. Alles frisch und verdammt lecker...Top👏👏✌️✌️
