We were there with a large group. The food and cocktails were delicious. Also suitable for kids! The staff was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately, the burger was only lukewarm. Hence only 4 stars.

We were there with a large group (50 people). Everything was perfect, from the uncomplicated initial phone conversation, to the beautiful and cozy ambiance, the excellent food, and the warm service from everyone (especially Gabi). Despite our large group, we barely had to wait and were attentively looked after throughout our visit. A heartfelt thank you; we can only give you our absolute recommendation. We would be happy to come back. P.S. The dessert with pistachio cream was a dream.

We came around the corner and spontaneously decided to stop here for a break. The online ordering concept worked well, and we were served quickly. The staff was also able to competently answer our questions about gluten-free options. There aren't many gluten-free dishes, but the salad was amazing, as was the (not gluten-free) "Hans im Glück" burger. We'd happily go back anytime 🫶🏼

An original restaurant decorated with beech logs that looks like a forest. Located in the historic center of Hamburg and near the Rathaus. Friendly and professional staff, varied menu and very good food.

Unfortunately, the burger we received didn't come without sauce as ordered. The fries were too salty for us.

I find the interior with the birch trees very beautiful and the people are super nice. I always enjoy coming back when I am in Hamburg.

Great food and super friendly staff

After a strenuous day of shopping, five of us stopped in early evening. We quickly found space for Grandma's walker. The service was friendly and kept things in perspective. The burgers were deliciously fresh, the meat cooked through but juicy on the inside. What exactly do you mean? The fries were a bit salty. The cold teas were sensational. Mint in ice water, amazing. I like the ambiance with the birch trees, and the restrooms were clean. The highlight was getting some fresh air after paying: my boss was sitting there with his family. Now we're from the Swiss border, not Hamburg. You pulled off a great surprise. And if you look forward to seeing your boss even on vacation, the working atmosphere is incredibly good. Be careful with the salt on the fries; otherwise, keep it up. Thanks. I recommend a visit, and we'll be back when we're in Hamburg, that's for sure. The 4* is almost 5.

This was our first time here. The food was rather disappointing for both of us. I went for the standard burger, thinking it was the flagship and original hamburger of the company. However, the preparation here was anything but good. The patty was a bit cold and undercooked. I also felt it lacked the meat juices that a non-smashed burger should have. The bun was quite good, but the sauces were barely present and only distributed in the middle. It was like a McDonald's hamburger. As a result, the outside of the burger was very dry. My companion's burger was prepared in a similar way. The way the food was prepared was also very disappointing and unappetizing, as you can see from the pictures. This came with a portion of fries with cheese sauce, which was okay, and a few jalapenos, for over €8, which is definitely not worth the money. The price is way too high. The service was friendly and smiling. They were just very confused because we had to move because the next table was smoking heavily outside and we were traveling with a stroller. It took a very long time before we could pay. The ambiance is really lovely. That's the highlight of the restaurant, which is a shame, though, since the food should be the main focus. Perhaps it's meant to distract from that. But the interior is really nicely decorated. All in all, I can't recommend this burger place. The food is simply too poorly prepared for the price. There are many burger places that are way ahead of them and that I would prefer. I'm a huge burger fan and really wanted to eat one. Therefore, I won't be coming back.

I'm someone who gives a second chance. Even on my first visit in early 2024, I wasn't completely thrilled. But even now, a few weeks later after my second visit, I unfortunately can't report much positive. The food was OK. The taste, consistency, and temperature were all acceptable. But it wasn't more than OK. I'm used to much better burgers. Regarding the drinks: A colleague's cocktail was supposed to contain alcohol. It had probably been sitting next to a bottle of alcohol for a few seconds, but you couldn't taste or smell any of it in the drink. The other drinks were fine—but you can't go too wrong with soft drinks and beer. The team at Hans im Glück in the Old Town Hall on Trostbrücke didn't shine in terms of service either. Ordering drinks was quick, and we didn't have to wait particularly long for the drinks and food. No wonder the place was only about 20% full. The service was friendly too. But for more bonus points, the "courteous" aspect was still missing. Well, after the food was served, the waitress didn't appear again. Since we didn't want to wait ANY longer to express our desire to pay, we simply went up front and paid. What struck me as particularly negative was the ambiance. No, not the birch trunks. That's probably part of the... "concept"... More like the truly dangerous electrical system in the lighting. I'm an expert. And when I see open terminals, I get curious. That's not inherently wrong when dealing with low voltage, like 12 or 24 volts. But here, 230 volts AC was at work. No, I didn't measure. Just unscrew a bulb, look, and screw it back in, and you'll know where you stand. To the team: You *shouldn't*, no, you *MUST* shut it down immediately and have it professionally rebuilt. Get a professional company to do it, and it'll be done properly. Exposed wires routed through plug-in terminals with no protection against accidental contact, and sometimes loose cables that you can get caught in when you get up from your seat – that's the worst thing I've ever seen in terms of electrical installation in a restaurant dining room. Go ahead and switch to low voltage if the effort of rewiring is too expensive for you. But it CAN'T stay like this. My personal conclusion: I won't be visiting Hans im Glück again and will mentally cross it off my list of regularly used locations.

Sitting for 15 minutes being totally ignored by staff - decided to leave without order 13th of August 2025.

I happened to see this burger and ASTRA BEAR while walking down the street, and ended up stopping by to try it. The outdoor tables were cooler and more pleasant than the indoor ones. The burgers and beer were both excellent. The staff were friendly.

This place is near the Church of San Nicola. The atmosphere is lovely both inside and out, and the waiters are really kind and helpful. The sandwiches and fries are delicious, and the prices are average. Highly recommended!

We rarely have anything to complain about and have eaten at Hans im Glück a few times, but we've never experienced a wait of almost 1.5 hours for our food, feeling like we were ignored, and then the food arriving almost cold at the table. Other guests who arrived later, and who were even more numerous than us, were served faster. The chicken in the burger was already cooked so thoroughly that it tasted hard, stringy, and rubbery. All of our fries were already cold. If we hadn't all been so hungry, we would have said something and asked for more food. It really wasn't tasty and was disappointing. The only thing that was really tasty were the cocktails.

We stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant by chance while visiting the Titanic Museum! Kudos to the chef and the fantastic service staff! We'll be happy to come back if we're ever in Hamburg again!

We went there with five people for a burger, and it was truly fantastic. The food, service, and atmosphere were all great.

As you'd expect from Hans im Glück: the food was solid, although my brioche bun was a bit dry this time – lacking sauce for my taste. Less pleasing: the men's restroom. There was a strong odor even in the anteroom, and the air was very humid – presumably no effective ventilation. The sink didn't drain properly, and overall, the restrooms seemed poorly designed. It's a shame, because the location and service are actually good. Due to the situation in the restroom area, I'll probably avoid this branch in the future.

We went there today and ordered a burger. Unfortunately, the burger didn't smell good, so we only ate half. We informed the staff, but we still want to make others aware of this.

We were here on a Wednesday afternoon. It was very pleasant; the service was super friendly and attentive, as was the noise level. We felt very comfortable, and the food tasted great.

We were in Hamburg for a stag or hen party and had dinner there. I found the atmosphere very inviting, the waitress was very friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely worth recommending.

Very tasty vegan and chicken menu under 40 euros

Six of us took a cocktail course at Kevin's this weekend, and we had a blast. We were able to choose delicious cocktails from the menu and then mix them ourselves (and drink them 😉) under Kevin's professional and very personable guidance. Afterwards, we enjoyed the usual delicious burger specialties from Hans im Glück. A great combination that you don't find everywhere. I definitely recommend the cocktail course and give it 5/5 lucky cocktails 🍹🍹🍹🍹🍹

No staff to place orders - you should leave - one hour stoppage - impossible for a chain

Although our sweet potato fries were slightly burnt, the ambiance and especially the relaxed and positive vibe of our waitress Erik contributed greatly to our lovely evening :) We would be happy to come back and can recommend it to everyone.

I only wanted a mango mint, she said it would be right there. Several times. The "right there" turned into 50 minutes, then she said please, her iced tea, and after a 15-minute discussion, after she understood that I had ordered mango mint, she said it would be right there. Still waiting. Maybe they still had to plant the mint. You know that. The meals looked nice, you can do it 👍 Maybe they caught the beef needed for them in time. Meddl off, your criteria.

We enjoyed the food, and the ambiance was okay. The restrooms, however, definitely needed cleaning. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Firstly, it took a really long time for someone to come to our table, and secondly, the employees were very difficult to recognize because they were wearing normal, everyday clothes. It wasn't busy, but the gentleman who served us seemed somewhat confused and started tasks at various tables without finishing them. For example, the gentleman wanted to open our umbrella and had to get something in the process, then ended up forgetting it. The tables around us hadn't been wiped, or there were still plates from previous guests that hadn't been cleared away during our entire stay.

I went to Hans im Glück today – After Work with my colleagues, a group of about 10 people. Unfortunately, we didn't have much luck there, and the environment can be quite deadly. More on that later. I ate a Double Smashburger and fries with truffle mayonnaise. The burger was okay, as was the brioche bun. The fries were very crispy and delicious. The truffle mayonnaise, however, wasn't my thing – my colleagues, however, found it delicious. Considering the price, quantity, and taste, the burger was perfectly fine. Nothing particularly extraordinary, but consistently solid – and you'll definitely be filling. Let's get to the review: 1. Cocktails Let me put it this way: After two of these, you're still perfectly capable of driving a vehicle – at worst, you'll suffer a sugar shock. But you definitely won't leave the place drunk. So, for just under €10, you're getting more of a juice than a serious drink. It doesn't have to be a Mai Tai—but come on—it was more than obvious that they were skimping on the alcohol. 2. Service At first, we were confused—there wasn't a reservation for us. However, after showing the confirmation email, we were politely shown to our table. The waitress was very friendly and took our drink order right away. The drinks arrived shortly after, and our food order was also promptly taken and served. The friendliness and courtesy were impeccable at all times—complimentary. However, that's unfortunately all I can say about the service. Because once the food was served, all interest in us apparently disappeared. No one asked if we wanted anything else to drink or eat, or if everything was okay. In essence, the business relationship ended with the first delivery. What a shame—I would have liked to order something else. By the way, the place was practically empty; there were only two tables occupied outside. 3. Interior Now let's get to the shop itself: You can like the tree aesthetic – but it's definitely not practical. There are simply too many "trees" and they're positioned too randomly. Okay, what do I care about the decor of a burger joint? Well, if it's in the middle of the table between the seats, it's distracting. It makes conversation or eye contact difficult – even impossible, depending on the seating situation. The seats are barely padded wooden benches that confront my bottom with an unwanted hardness. The music is so loud that it's difficult, or just barely, to have a conversation. I don't understand what's supposed to invite people to linger here. Everything in this restaurant screams: "Come in, order quickly, eat quickly, give us your money – and then please leave quickly." At least with a smile. Comfortable socializing turns into stress here. I didn't feel like a guest, but like a source of income who shouldn't spend too much time in the store. 4. Danger to life This may sound polemical and dramatic – but unfortunately, it's reality: At Hans im Glück, you run the risk of getting an electric shock. And I'm talking about 230V mains voltage, not low voltage as you might assume. The light bulb needs 240V, and that's exactly what it gets. The aforementioned "trees" in the interior serve not only as stylistically questionable room dividers, but also for lighting. The power cables are routed from below through the tree trunks and wired with Wago terminals – openly accessible. If you trip over them – or worse, a child touches them – it can end badly. I captured this in a photo. This "installation" is openly accessible for the majority of the lamps; only a few have plastic covers installed. Presumably, the remaining lamps aren't being serviced or repaired – the guest then bears the risk. Conclusion: Even though the food was okay and I can even praise the value for money, the criticisms are much more serious. There won't be a second visit.

Unfortunately, the music is really tedious. Maybe okay for a bar, but for dinner? And the birch trees block the view of the beautiful space.

When we arrived after making a reservation, we were ignored and sat down on our own. When the so-called "boss" came over and asked why we were sitting there like that, we explained that we hadn't been spoken to and had already been waiting for a quarter of an hour. His brilliant response was: "What's your problem?!" and he immediately asked us to move to another seat that wasn't spacious enough. Because of his aggressive customer service and his irritable demeanor, we immediately left the place and looked for a nicer alternative :) I can hardly recommend eating here.

I would prefer to give 0 stars. I have never seen such a cheeky and unprofessional boss in my life. You wait 20 minutes to be taken to the table. When you sit down on your own, the so-called arrogant boss comes and thinks he has to shout at you and say that he will take you to the table... then you are moved and put at a table for 4 people with 6 people even though the whole place is empty.
