Cozy restaurant on the beach/harbor in Dornumersiel. Delicious dishes and the house-made spice blend are fantastic. Great views of the Wadden Sea and a cozy atmosphere, whether inside or outside. Friendly and good service. I have only positive things to say about subsequent visits. A must for anyone who loves good food.

Shoutout to the – presumably – blonde boss: No one else should behave like this: We had reserved the 5-7 p.m. time slot, and at 5:30 p.m., the blonde appeared at the table (after we'd already had our second beer) and, insistently and inappropriately loudly, demanded that we order our food NOW or else pay and leave the restaurant. She ignored my reminder that we wanted to eat Labskaus within the time slot, which isn't freshly prepared anyway. Shortly afterward, we ordered, and lo and behold: 5 minutes later (!), the Labskaus was on the table. Unfortunately, the chef didn't have enough time to heat the food in the microwave as it should have been: It was only lukewarm!!! 2 stars after all, because the two young men serving were really good.

We would have liked to try the restaurant, but unfortunately, it's not wheelchair-accessible and therefore impossible to reach with a stroller or wheelchair. It's a shame. The beach restaurant downstairs has delicious snacks like fries. We had a good meal.

We felt welcome and had a delicious drink. Even in a downpour, we stopped here again. It's simply nice. Prices are reasonable. Restrooms very clean.

A truly amazing place! We walked up the stairs without any expectations and were absolutely thrilled. Super friendly staff, amazing food, and a fantastic view. Located right on the harbor with very clean restrooms. You can sit downstairs or climb the stairs and enjoy the view from above. The price/performance ratio was excellent. Dogs are also welcome, and there's a baby changing room on the ground floor.

A very beautiful location with a wonderful sea view and a very friendly waitress. We felt well looked after. The food was absolutely excellent, and I highly recommend the kitchen. Everything tasted great. We'll be back and would definitely recommend the restaurant. We were there again on September 4, 2025, and were once again pleasantly surprised. The dishes were once again very tasty and beautifully presented. We were very impressed by Mr. Daniel's friendly and attentive service. Once again, a clear recommendation.

We enjoyed it a lot. The food wasn't outstanding for the price, but it was still very tasty and plenty of room for a toddler to roam and eat their fill. The service was very (child-)friendly, and the view was unbeatable!

Ambience too cold, service too and prices too expensive

Service and ambiance shouldn't be the main criteria for a restaurant. The view is beautiful and the service absolutely impeccable and friendly, but the quality and preparation of the food is poor and, unfortunately, not particularly tasty. The salad wasn't fresh, the baked potato came with ready-made sauce, the burger meat was cheap frozen food, and the fries were drenched in oil. I don't understand the many 5-star reviews... it's more of a snack bar and, overall, far too expensive/poor value for money.

As mentioned many times, the view of the North Sea islands, the beach, and the harbor of Dornumersiel is exceptional. What is often disappointing about such places is the food on offer. But this is a big exception! The service team was very friendly and attentive. Even without a reservation, we were provided with a table on the outdoor terrace with a sea view. The selected lamb rump and the spaghetti with shrimp were delicious. The apple crumble for dessert was also excellent. I highly recommend this place and a visit. I'll be back again.

Not cheap, but overall good value. Very tasty for the eyes and palate.

Great location above the beach, nice seating. A bit of a breeze, though. Friendly, but somewhat rushed service. The food came quickly, looked great, and tasted delicious! A first for Labskaus! Not exactly cheap, but OK. Parking directly below.

Unfortunately, it takes forever to get food here. The number was accidentally duplicated. I've been waiting 40 minutes for our fish sandwiches... great location, but definitely overwhelmed staff.

A beautiful view of the sea. Very friendly staff. Delicious cakes and tea. The food is also very good, with portions large enough to fill you up. Prices are average these days. We like to come here often. The only downside for two vegetarians - the falafel burger is gone 😢. Why? It was so delicious and not as run-of-the-mill as the new falafel burger. We always "have to" eat something like that at the kebab shop... Luckily, there are alternative dishes, but we would still be happy to see a new version of the falafel burger.

I was there today with my son. The burger from the kids' menu was a hit, definitely not your average burger. My schnitzel was fresh and homemade, which is a rare find these days. A fantastic view, a cozy atmosphere, and a completely fair price. We'll be back. Reservations are essential, especially during peak season.

Unfortunately, the service and time management were absolutely terrible. We made the mistake of ordering an appetizer, as suggested by the unfriendly owner. We had to wait almost 30 minutes for our drinks and almost an hour for the appetizer. After 90 minutes, we decided to leave, whereupon the hostess came to our table and treated us in the most unfriendly manner. If you make a mistake in service, which can happen, you should react accordingly, professionally and hospitably, and not "confront" guests. Impossible. By the way, we had a small child with us, for whom we had to ask for a straw twice. The waiters were generally very overwhelmed and uncoordinated. I've rarely experienced such unfriendly staff and poor service. Better spend your money elsewhere!!

Can't comment on the food, as after 90 minutes, nothing had been served. Despite having reserved a table in advance!! Apparently, it was because we had a starter, which meant that the main course was delayed by at least 45 minutes, as was the case with us. 😜 So definitely don't order a starter there!!!! Maybe they should review their management and stop fobbling off people who actually want to spend more money with stupid excuses just to make themselves look better. A good restaurant would have apologized to their guests and maybe even offered a small compensation.

A fantastic restaurant with stunning views of Dornumersiel harbor and the North Sea and Wadden Sea from its beautiful interior or sheltered terrace! Family- and dog-friendly, with excellent service. We were very pleased with our meal – East Frisian bread salad, tortellini with chanterelles, and pan-fried fish. Highly recommended, although not exactly cheap, for a relaxing break by the sea!

Fine dining with a beautiful view! One criticism is the children's menu! Children prefer their fries finely cut and not overly seasoned.

I've been to this restaurant many times, but it's never been as good as this time. I'm thrilled with the evening. The service was attentive and friendly—I immediately felt much more comfortable than the last times I've been there. The food was simply fantastic.

We wanted to go out to eat. We got a parking ticket for our car and went up the stairs. At the top, we were told that reservations were required. Great, free parking ticket. Perhaps they should put up a sign at the parking lot stating that reservations were required.

Service varies enormously, from super friendly to gloomy! Prices are extremely expensive – a cappuccino on the Champs-Élysées in Paris cost €4.50 this year! The location is, of course, fantastic!

Great view. The vendors at the beach hut are very nice. Unfortunately, the reader at the beach entrance was broken. This kept the ladies busy, causing traffic jams. The burger was delicious. The bratwurst was okay, too. But the fries were overcooked. The restrooms were also completely filthy, and there were no paper towels left.

We like to stop here, sometimes for a beer, sometimes for a meal. It's not exactly cheap, but we like it.

We ate there today. The atmosphere, service and food were all amazing. It was a great visit.

I can only review the Hafensängerimbiss, and specifically the coffee drinks. The Cafe Crema (€3.80) is okay, including the quantity. The Cappuccino (€3.90) is also okay, but the quantity is too small for the money. Alternatives would be the Schlaraffenland ice cream factory, when they're open, with a milk-heavy cappuccino for €3.50, or the MussWessels bakery in the Markant, with the largest cappuccino in terms of quantity for €3.90. In my opinion, the prices at the Hafensängerimbiss are well to slightly overpriced. Fair beach food, I think.

We had a wonderful time here. A small menu with a great taste experience. Great atmosphere, fantastic views of the beach and the sea. The staff was super friendly.

Nice restaurant with a beautiful view, friendly staff and delicious cakes

We went there for dinner last night (after making a reservation, only for one hour at a time). We received a very friendly welcome, were seated at a table by the window overlooking the North Sea (unfortunately, it was too uncomfortable for outside), and were given our menus. Immediately afterward, we were served several slices of brown bread, which we dipped in olive oil and special Hafensänger salt and ate beforehand. The waitress explained this very kindly. The meal – a pan-fried fish plate (3 fish fillets/mustard sauce/bacon beans/fried potatoes) arrived promptly and tasted very good. With two glasses of white wine, a large bottle of mineral water, and two pan-fried fish plates, the total came to €75.30. Perhaps not exactly cheap for two people, but then you're sitting in a restaurant and not at a snack bar. So, overall, it was a successful dinner, and we can't understand why some of the reviews were so negative...

Three of us went there. The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The service was very good, but there was a charge for parking. Overall, a good, solid performance, and a fair price. We can recommend a visit with a clear conscience 👍🏼

Unfortunately, it was a private event on our day, so we sat on the terrace... It would have been more comfortable with a few cushions, but it was fine without them too.

Unfortunately, the value for money here isn't right at all. A burger costs around €20. The ingredients in all the dishes seem to come from cans or convenience stores. The vegetables and potatoes lack flavor, and the meat in the burger or schnitzel is as hard as a shoe sole. However, the service is good, and the beachfront location offers a beautiful view.

Very child-friendly. Our baby was asleep in our arms upon arrival, so we were given a spot with a bench to lay our baby down. There were also art supplies, a high chair, and the restaurant has a unisex changing table.

Very delicious food with a great view of the beach and sea. We received a very friendly welcome and service. They immediately recommended a daily special. We ordered fish and meat, both of which were delicious and came with a colorful salad. The starter included some bread with oil and spices on the house. When the weather is nice, the terrace is a great place to sit. But the interior also offers a great view thanks to the huge windows. The restaurant is highly recommended!

Update 6/24/25 We were back today after what felt like an eternity. It's like coming home. Unfortunately, we were only in Dornum/Siel for a short time, but I already know that we'll be back on December 21st, 2025, and will definitely stop by your place again. It's simply fantastic. See you soon 🖐 We were there for the second time on our vacation today. A fantastic view of the sea, etc. The service staff were all nice and friendly. We only had coffee and cake; the dishes that were served to the other guests looked delicious. I liked the spice mix so much that I brought it with me today. We wanted to reserve a table for New Year's Eve, but unfortunately we were too late, but that's okay. We will definitely go back there on our next vacation and eat something. Keep up the good work.

Despite having a reservation and requesting a window, we were seated in the middle of the room – several window seats remained empty throughout our entire visit. The bread was dry, the server was extremely unfriendly, and even more rude after "only" a small tip. Absolutely disappointing for the prices. Never again.

The view is a highlight, and it's worth it. Unfortunately, you're not allowed to sit by the window without a reservation, even though everything was free the whole time. This isn't exactly communicated charmingly when you walk in the door. The food is okay, the fries have their own seasoning; someone really put some thought into that; overall, a very nice restaurant concept. That's rare up here. After my latest visit, I have to deduct a star. You get a cold, taciturn Frisian greeting: "Kitchen is closing soon." You can't order any food or desserts after 8:30 p.m. However, this isn't communicated anywhere on the website or on the menu at the entrance; it's simply assumed that every guest knows. In the spaghetti dishes, the pasta is broken into small pieces; this is absolute sacrilege and can only be done this way for a child's plate. They're also not recommended; the prawn spaghetti with lobster sauce for €29 uses ready-made sauce and frozen vegetables.

The visit to the Hafensänger was simply fantastic! The view was absolutely beautiful and created a relaxed atmosphere, perfectly complemented by the ambiance. The staff was always attentive and friendly. The quality of all the dishes was excellent, and the steak was cooked to perfection. It's also great that dogs are welcome. We had a wonderful evening. We'd be happy to go back anytime!

Sooooo friends... A nice and beautifully decorated restaurant... The mustard sauce served with the pan-fried fish was delicious, and the fish was very well prepared... The fried shrimp with spaghetti was delicious, even if the lobster sauce lacked that final touch. The service was very friendly and quick.

The food initially came wrong. The service was not very accommodating. The cutter plaice was served without lemon. Potatoes were like they came from the cafeteria. So the food is pretty mediocre. We didn't get the table of our choice.

Deich burger and chili cheese burger were both cold when they arrived at the table. 55€ for two people with one drink each and rather mediocre food. Service was ok. You pay well for the location rather than the food. Unfortunately no recommendation.

In short: great! Food very decent, asparagus, good, hollandaise sauce as well, the salad was also delicious. Prices are a little higher than in town - but you also get a great view of the mud flats or the sea and definitely the beach. Service friendly and attentive - we will definitely come back next time we visit (Oh - maybe it's better to order tea instead of cappuccino - or just the good Barre-Bräu)

Unfortunately, the service staff wasn't very friendly in the first contact. I didn't reserve leather, but I still got a table. But I had to clear it again after three minutes, very embarrassing. The explanation: I didn't know what the colleague had planned. This made it so clear to me that the last guest noticed. When I suggested that I wanted to wait, I was told "you don't need to, everything is fully booked". After a conversation with the manager, I decided to take a seat outside. After 7 minutes a waiter came inside and a table became available. What annoyed me the most was that I was rejected but in return a couple who had booked for two were allowed to sit down with 4 people without any problem. Great service, delicious food and perfect ambience! Any time

Prices are quite high, outdoor seating is very uncomfortable. The bell at the gate to the beach is incredibly loud and extremely annoying. During my visit, the outside area was being painted with intensely musty paint while it was in operation.

We had coffee and cake and were completely satisfied.

The Hafensänger is the ideal place to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the North Sea and the islands behind it with good food and the best service. A reservation is essential, especially in high season. When the weather is good, you can use the outdoor terrace for coffee and cake. Not barrier-free. A must for everyone.

We were at the Hafensänger in mid-January. It was one of the few restaurants open and we were very happy about that. A great ambience, great service, a menu with something for everyone and really, really tasty food. We liked it so much that we went there a second time. This time too everything was great. We can only recommend the Hafensänger and advise it to reserve a table (except for the month of January, very few customers). We'll definitely be back

Ambiance great great service too. Food very tasty, portions sufficient. My husband had duck and I had the fish burger. One point deducted from the duck was that there was so much red cabbage and there was a little bit of duck in relation to it and there was little sauce. But taste great

The restaurant is located directly on the beach. Terrace, outdoor area available. Nice ambience. Delicious food. Good, quick service. .....unfortunately the waiter was a bit annoyed, which he emphasized with comments. But everyone has a bad day sometimes...

Located directly at the harbor in a large parking lot. Great view, weather permitting, and good cuisine. Beforehand there was delicious, fluffy bread, olive oil and our own salt/spice mixture. The menu is not extensive, but absolutely sufficient. The dishes are attractively prepared and very tasty. The ambience is suitably maritime. Four-legged friends are also very welcome, which is expressly pointed out outside. A great idea: Instead of paying a fee for using the toilet, we ask for a donation to the DGzRS (German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People).

Great atmosphere, even in winter. Unfortunately, even after 15 minutes inside, we were neither noticed nor served, nor were the dishes put away by the previous person who was leaving when we arrived. If you can't manage the service in winter, how will it work in summer. Certainly personnel saving measures, but at the wrong end. We then left without anything.
