The two of us were at the restaurant and, based on a recommendation, enjoyed an "Italian evening." This meant we had several different daily specials in smaller portions. This was perfect for us, as we were able to try a variety of dishes. For starters, we had a plate of buffalo mozzarella, ham, and bread. The main courses consisted of shrimp risotto, followed by sea bream in a delicious lemon sauce. For dessert, we were served tiramisu, panna cotta, and ice cream. Perfect for those who want to try different dishes. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the incredibly good food.

Service was very friendly, but they mechanically told all the guests the same thing. The noise level outside was very high due to passing vehicles, but that's not the restaurant's fault.

We went to Grottino da Salvatore with 20 people for our civil wedding at the beginning of May, as we eat there often. Just to say: Everything was fantastic this time too! The advance arrangements went smoothly. On the evening itself, the service was excellent, pleasant, authentic, and personal. Always with a quick quip or a little joke on the side. However, the personal conversations did not detract from the quality of the service. The service was very prompt, and we lacked nothing. The appetizer plates were absolutely amazing. Everything your heart could desire, from meat to fish, was there. Our guests were already well-fed after the generously filled appetizer plates. The main courses all arrived on time (which isn't a given with 20 people) and all looked wonderful. My squid was excellent, and our guests also enjoyed it very much. Only a few people had room for dessert, as the food was so plentiful and plentiful. The desserts were also delicious. We ended up paying around €50 per person, which, considering the great food and excellent service, was a completely fair price for us. The value for money is simply amazing! All in all, at Grottino da Salvatore, you feel like you're at a real Italian restaurant that focuses on what's important: good, high-quality food. We love coming back here again and again!

Depending on the daily specials, there are different types of fish available – from sea bream to mussels and calamari to swordfish and turbot. The pasta dishes are also very well prepared and taste excellent – ​​al dente. The service is always warm and attentive. You feel welcome and can enjoy the evening in a relaxed atmosphere. If you appreciate honest, high-quality Italian cuisine or simply want to eat a very good pizza, this is the place for you. A clear recommendation!

We live nearby, and every time we've been to Salvatore's we say "never again." Nevertheless, we went back yesterday for dinner with my mother-in-law. I had reserved a table for lunch. I wasn't greeted, asked about my needs, or even thanked for the reservation. By then, I was pretty tired of it. At dinner, we weren't greeted in a friendly manner. No hello/ciao/good evening, nothing, instead: "Hello, we had a reservation." "Name?" "..." "People?" "I had a reservation for three." But, as always, the fat old "head waiter" touched me on the arm and shoulder and led me to the beer garden. No thanks, I don't want to be touched by strangers... And it goes on like this the whole time. Service and friendliness are virtually nonexistent at Salvatore's. Menus are half-thrown onto the table and a monosyllabic question is asked, "Aperitif?" When I replied, "No, we'd like a bottle of water," they didn't respond, thank me, or confirm my order. They simply turned around and left. And it wasn't even busy, so stress could be cited as a mitigating factor. When I placed my food order, there was again no thank you, no question about our preferences, etc. The wrong appetizer was also brought. The salads we ordered came with balsamic vinegar and oil. Other tables received them, but we didn't. Only after asking and with a snippy undertone. The food is rather mediocre for a real Italian and tasteless, to put it mildly. There are much better Italian restaurants in Dresden (La Contadina, for example). The Bolognese tasted like Barilla from a jar, although this one is even better. Payment was made, just as the entire evening had gone. There was no thank you for being our guest. No goodbye. Nothing. As if the old head waiter didn't care that we'd just left him almost €80 – well, then, there's no better way to express that we weren't welcome as a guest. Conclusion: This was Salvatore's last chance, and he completely blew it. It's still a restaurant with the poor service of an old, fat, intrusive, and bad-tempered head waiter, where expectations collide sharply with reality. All the young waiters at Salvatore are quite friendly and accommodating, at least compared to "Luigi" (that's what I'll call the fat guy). Therefore, if the owner reads this review, I can only advise him to part ways with this old, unfriendly, and intrusive waiter – for the sake of his remaining and future guests. Because we're definitely not coming back!

I wouldn't visit this Italian restaurant again. We were there for Mother's Day, made a reservation for 11:30 a.m., and when we arrived, they were still cleaning up. The waiters were busy, taking orders first, then personal matters. We had to wait a very long time for the food. The food was delicious, but everything else was awful. Absolutely disappointed; the worst Italian restaurant I've ever visited in terms of service and friendliness. We were the only customers; an older couple arrived at 12:00 p.m.

I definitely wouldn't eat there again. The starter was very tasty, but waiting over 2.5 hours for the main course is really too long. The service was also subpar. No demand for drinks, no time to choose the food or even shouting through the crowd. I am very disappointed.

For me, this restaurant is like a little vacation in Italy. It has this rustic charm, is cozy and simply special. Today I had gnocchi with sage butter - they tasted sensationally good. And the tiramisu at the end, with fresh strawberries, was honestly the best thing I've ever eaten. A place that lets you go home with a smile - and that makes you look forward to the next time as you leave.

Food OK. Service terrible. Welcome unfriendly and annoyed. When asked whether Bolognese contains red wine, there was an unfriendly counter question with the answer (YES, WHY?). After the meal, no waitress came to ask any further requests. We had to use hand signals to draw attention to ourselves, which was difficult because we avoided any eye contact. When paying, the gentleman didn't bother giving change, even though nothing of the sort was said when handing over the money. This was also the first time I experienced tipping myself. Ambience is fine, very small restaurant with the tables very close together. This also creates an unpleasant background noise. Food was okay, but I've had much better Italian food. I won't visit this Italian restaurant again.

Beautifully located and inviting at first glance. The food, on the other hand, is a disaster, the pizza dough is leathery, can hardly be cut through, the fish is completely tasteless, the salads taste especially like they are from the fridge, the wine probably comes from 2.99 bottles in the supermarket, unfortunately extremely disappointing. The restaurant was very busy, either the day was a blip in terms of quality or there are simply not enough really good restaurants in the area

We had been planning to go as a group for a long time and were rather disappointed after our visit. A waiting time of 1.5 hours and in the meantime a drink order was forgotten and only brought the second time we asked. Some guests were brought baskets of bread, but this was not the case for us. There was no explanation or apology for the long wait. Children cried because it took so long. Too bad.

I visited the restaurant one evening with my work colleagues - fortunately we had reserved seats in advance, otherwise we probably wouldn't have gotten a seat. Each of us ordered something different, and after trying the dishes among ourselves, we agreed: the food was fantastic! We will definitely come back. The staff was typically Italian, very attentive and relatively quick. An all around successful experience!

Overheard conversation from the waiter. He simply had to work infected with Corona because there was apparently a lack of staff. He wiped the feverish sweat from his forehead and showed it to his colleagues... We weren't asked once during the meal if everything was okay. No cheese was offered. The neighbors at the table (regulars) get fly repellent and we don't. no goodbye. BUT food tastes really good. Nevertheless, we won't be coming back.

Last Friday the whole family went to Il Grottino in Altplauen. There was a birthday to celebrate and this restaurant was the perfect location. The dishes are rustic Italian and, in my opinion, completely different from other restaurants in terms of taste and freshness (especially the fish!!!!). I like to eat sea bream there or various fresh pasta plus buffalo mozzarella. An experience! I was told that some of the ingredients are even imported directly from Italy by the chef. I recommend this restaurant for celebrations as well as for romantic evenings for two and for visits with children! only recommend (especially in summer because of the beautiful large terrace.)

Ultimately, we adults (parents) also experienced this when picking up: Bad mood, monosyllabic snippy instructions and questions - Italian mentality that we don't like here (...and don't even sugarcoat ourselves in Italy!) It's a shame, because even the food couldn't make up for the misery - nothing special was noticeable during the meal. All in all, a truly sad visit. The owner's bad mood and snarky manner make the choice easy for us: We won't be able to get there again so quickly...

As a guest in Dresden for a day, I was there for dinner. The pizza was very good on the edge, but unfortunately very soggy on the inside and topped with far too much cheese. Unfreundlich. Arrogant. Keine Entgegennahme der Bestellung der Hauptspeisen. 1h bis zur Vorspeise. Kein schöner freundlicher Empfang. Unbequeme Stühle. Es hat sich seit 20 Jahren nichts verbessert. Solch einen unfreundlichen Kroaten habe ich auf Istrien selbst in Touristenhochburgen nie erlebt.

At the beginning the boss is a bit intimidating towards a new guest. But he does his job with joy, a good eye and a healthy dose of determination. He likes to recommend things and then just bring them without having heard a definitive “yes”, which I found very amusing and appropriate. I had the feeling of being well served and happily fed. Pizza, pasta, mozzarella and dessert were all very good.

The lamb ragout with tagliatelle was quite good, only the carbonara was below the dignity of an Italian. In response to the complaint about "spaghetti with scrambled eggs and roughly chopped ham", in which the boss (?) suddenly understood noticeably little German, this dish was of the same quality on the second attempt. The operating staff, on the other hand, was very nice.

It used to be my favorite Italian restaurant... If the egg in the Cabonara looks more like scrambled eggs and this happens again on the second attempt (after a complaint), I unfortunately have to ask myself whether the chef knows what he is doing. It's a shame, I always liked being here.

Very bad service, friendliness takes getting used to, food mediocre for the high price. For us it was the last visit there.
