Very nice restaurant and very tasty food

If you're looking for local and typical regional cuisine, this is the place for you. Töttchen (a type of stew) – delicious – and broad beans – my goodness, heavy, but good. The only thing to consider is whether it really has to be Detmolder beer...

Let me start with the food. I had the paprika schnitzel and was disappointed. The combination with the peppercorns wasn't really to my taste. However, the service was very good and attentive.

Hopefully there's a spot available; we were able to sit outside, which was perfectly manageable. The food was delicious. Definitely recommended.

We received a very warm and friendly welcome during our spontaneous visit, without a reservation. After a short wait, the three of us found a nice seat. The waiters were all very friendly, without exception, and we had the opportunity for a chat or two and a bit of banter. The menu, featuring classic Westphalian cuisine (but not only), offers a wide selection. The quality of the food is very good, and the portion sizes are just right. Bottom line: price-performance-quality-service 👍🏼👍🏼

A restaurant that I always enjoy visiting when I visit Münster.

I was truly disappointed with today's visit. We ordered around 1:45 PM, and drinks and appetizers arrived quickly. Then, however, nothing for half an hour. The surrounding tables received their food even though they arrived after us. When we inquired, we were told our food would arrive soon. 20 minutes later, by then after 2:30 PM, we still hadn't had any food. When we inquired, we were told that we had only had an appetizer and it was busy. Our neighbors, who had the same appetizer, had finished their main courses and paid in the meantime... After further inquiries, our food finally arrived, almost an hour and a quarter after ordering – it was just after 3:00 PM. The entire time, we were only given information upon request, and we were constantly fobbed off. For a restaurant with this price level, that's truly abysmal. I would have expected them to inform us in a timely manner and give us the option to cancel the meal. At this point, I'm always annoyed that I silently endure such things instead of complaining loudly. Then there probably would have been a solution. So I can't recommend anyone eat here.

The hotel recommended trying the restaurant, and it was fantastic. The food was excellent and the value for money was more than good. My only minor criticism is that at first, every waiter seems to rush at you, even though you've only had the menu for a minute. Then you sit there, completely ignored, and not asked for dessert or another drink. It's a shame, but it's still highly recommended.

We came here without a reservation and had to wait a bit for a table, but the wait was definitely worth it. The ambiance is quaint and the food is excellent. While you do wait a bit longer for your food here, it's delicious. The spaetzle, for example, is homemade. The waiters were very busy that day, but everyone was still very friendly and cheerful. We'd love to come back when we're in Münster again—but only with a reservation :-)

The snietzel wasn't tough, and the potatoes were nicely seasoned. Highly recommended; it's a bit more expensive than "normal," but it was definitely worth it.

The food and atmosphere were nice. The food was delicious. The pasta we ordered for the kids was good. Overall, we liked it. The atmosphere outside is different, but the inside is beautiful. The children's menu has been carefully prepared and well thought out. The restrooms are clean. There's a babysitting unit. The daily special is expensive (€25), but otherwise, it's good.

The taste was very good. Unfortunately, one of the dishes wasn't quite hot, but that didn't detract from the taste. As an apology, we were given two hot drinks on the house.

A historic inn that unfortunately resembles a traditional dining room. It lacked a cozy atmosphere. Very friendly service. The selection of specialties is extensive. Unfortunately, the homemade curry sauce tasted of nothing.

Absolutely terrible experience. We were sitting there for 15 minutes and nobody even asked what we would like to drink — not a single waiter came by! But unbelievably, they did come over to ask us to change tables. Instead of welcoming guests, they make you feel like you’re in the way. Totally unprofessional and disrespectful. Never coming back.

The food here at Kiepenkerl is delicious. The staff is also super friendly. The ambiance at Kiepenkerl is equally good. Otherwise, we go to the Italian star Trattoria Il Gusto Nero in Greven. The owner of Trattoria Il Gusto Nero seems to have good contacts with celebrities. We've seen some very familiar faces from TV on Il Gusto Nero several times now.

Very good cuisine, excellent seasonal dishes. The dishes were impressive thanks to the well-balanced spices, which particularly enhanced the flavor of pumpkin, for example. The restaurant is large, and when it's a bit busy and guests arrive without reservations, the waiters are happy to quickly clear a previously occupied table and offer it to the waiting guests. Very nice, something you don't see very often these days. The staff are also very friendly to the guests. I can therefore highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food in a lovely restaurant. To round off a workweek, I treated myself to a rump steak with a side dish. The steak was a good size, and the desired degree of doneness (medium rare) was perfectly achieved(!). The salad I ordered with it was also really good. To finish off, I had an apricot schnapps from an oak barrel. This was also absolutely fantastic. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be back!

"Tradition yes – enthusiasm no" The Große Kiepenkerl is a well-known institution in Münster and has been very positively reviewed on Google with around 4.5 stars from thousands of guests. Many praise the central location, the large outdoor terrace, and the generous portions. The slow-food concept with regional ingredients, sustainability, and organic quality is also undoubtedly a strong plus and sets the restaurant apart from many other restaurants. My personal experience, however, is more nuanced: Ambience: The outdoor seating is lovely, right in the center. Inside, however, it seems rather cold, hall-like in size, relatively loud, and old-fashioned to my taste – more of an 80s atmosphere than a cozy Münster. Service: Very inconsistent. Sometimes attentive and friendly, sometimes rather below average. There's no consistently reliable standard. Food: Solid, large portions, filling – but no "wow" moment in terms of taste. I miss a bit more refinement and subtlety beyond pure heartiness. Conclusion: A piece of Münster tradition with honest, down-to-earth cuisine. A highlight for many guests, but for me, it only deserves three stars overall – solid, but neither the ambiance, nor the cuisine, nor the service really impressed me. Kleiner Kiepenkerl or Altes Gasthaus Leve are easily the better choice for me.

We were there with nine people and were pleasantly surprised. The food was plentiful and incredibly delicious. We had a seven-year-old child with us, who received a special child-friendly meal. Having something to color made the wait, which wasn't long at all, easier. We'll be back and would happily recommend it.

A very good German brewery with an extensive menu of local specialties, beers, and cocktails. The dishes are delicious and hearty. The service is very friendly and smiling. We understood each other perfectly in English. They have a very pleasant terrace for those who prefer to eat outside.

We chose this restaurant because it has a good selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. I had the celery steak with arugula and mashed potatoes, a fairly modest portion. I found the price quite high, as it cost €22.95 without salad. My partner had the vegan Budapest schnitzel, also a fairly modest portion for €22.95. Both dishes were okay in terms of taste, but nothing worth going back for. The wild berry crumble was far too sweet for my taste, which is why I didn't finish it. And I find €11.95 for a dessert quite expensive. The men's cream for €8.95 tasted okay, but you could really skip the decorative fruit here. They don't go with the food at all. Service was friendly, and drinks always arrived fairly quickly. Overall, I have to say: the value for money isn't right for me at all, and I don't think I'll eat there again. I wasn't impressed.

Good Westphalian cuisine, something you unfortunately find increasingly rare these days. The Westphalian specialty, Töttchen, is especially recommended.

Nice restaurant in Münster. Between 3 and 4 stars. We were in Münster on a Sunday, but it was quite quiet in the city, so we decided on a busy restaurant. We spontaneously found a seat outside. The food was good, home-style, but we felt all three dishes lacked seasoning. The vegetarian carbonara was okay; you can skip the meat substitute. My boyfriend liked the soup, although he had to add more seasoning. The meat was also okay, but it wasn't a big hit. Our table neighbors also asked for our salt and pepper, which reinforced our opinion. The young staff were hard-working and attentive. You can do it, but maybe you'll try another restaurant.

A place to recommend where the culinary standards exceed the average. You can eat well there; I personally enjoyed the Bohnen beans, which were delicious and generously served.

During our visit to Münster today, we noticed the pleasant outdoor area of this restaurant. Since there was still some space, we parked. The appealing menu had a lot to offer. We quickly made our decision and ordered with the attentive staff. Our drinks arrived promptly, the beautifully presented dishes a little later. We were not disappointed; everything was well-seasoned. From here, we had a beautiful view of the city, and since there was very little traffic, it was a great place to have a conversation. We really enjoyed it today.

First of all, it's great that you offer vegan dishes, but vegans also value salad or vegetables in their meals. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case in my case. My vegan schnitzel came with fries, fries, and two ready-made sauces in bowls. I wonder why! Instead, a small salad or a spoonful of grilled vegetables would be better. Just a suggestion; the next vegan guest will be delighted. Thanks.

A lovely, rustic, home-style inn that places emphasis on humane animal husbandry and high-quality food. The service is well-coordinated and very attentive. The prices are absolutely fair for the location and quality. (Approx. €25 for the deluxe hunter's schnitzel with fresh mushrooms, red currants, and homemade fries. Very tasty.) If you don't want to be disappointed on a lovely weekend with the family, make a reservation in advance. Enjoy your meal.

A wonderful place with wonderful people. And I mean the staff, who greet you with a smile, are very warm and friendly. The location is also very nice and clean. We were served by a beautiful elderly lady with short, white hair. She explained everything we wanted to know about the food calmly and very kindly. We were delighted with the food. Beef with baked potatoes (as shown in the picture). Everything was super delicious. And prepared exactly the way we wanted it. And I say that because we've tried many places but were disappointed. Everything here is of the finest quality. Very reasonable prices. I'm glad we found this special place where we will return again and again. Where customers are greeted warmly and treated with respect. I warmly congratulate the management of this restaurant, but also all the staff. And I would like to see more places with the same wonderful people. I wholeheartedly recommend this place. And we will be your regular customers. A historic restaurant with some local dishes. It's not exactly cheap, but the quality is okay. The staff is very friendly, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it that much. I had the schnitzel with fried potatoes and a fried egg. The meat was dry and bland, and generally carelessly presented on the plate. For dessert, I had the cream cheese, which was supposed to be with amaretto, but it didn't taste like it at all. What a shame...
