Giesinger Bräustüberl in München

Traditional restaurant with local Giesinger beer. Less crowded by tourists compared to famous places in the city center (e.g., HBH). Foods are excellent and nicely served. Among Munich's famous and traditional restaurants, this one is highly recommended. Overall, the food is clean, and best of all, it's less crowded than the touristy places in the city center. Located on the east side of the river, it's a bit tricky to get to from the west, but it's still highly recommended.

Delicious food and really good beer. The service was very friendly and cheerful. The atmosphere in the pub was very pleasant and furnished in a typical brewery style. I enjoyed it very much and would gladly come back.

So, you absolutely need to reserve a table; it's more suitable for groups as there are few tables for two. It was very loud and crowded, not pleasant for a relaxed dinner. What we ordered was okay. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) had a very strong smell, though. Perhaps they could prepare it more lightly, with less mountain cheese. They should mention this in advance. The steak tartare was fresh and very good, but you have to prepare it yourself on your plate.

Update: Unfortunately, the quality has declined. On my last two visits, the food was sometimes cold or quite tasteless/bland. The service and clientele are super friendly. Since they serve my favorite beer and have incredibly delicious food, it's currently my favorite pub in Munich.

Definitely not my last visit...the cloudy lager alone is worth another visit...and the liver was very well prepared...and the Kaiserschmarrn...the price/performance ratio is right...it's practically in the heart of Giesing...regardless of whether you're a Löwen fan...multiple visits are a must...easily accessible by subway...

Giesinger has a great selection of excellent home-brewed beers. If you haven't been there yet, you should definitely try them all. The food is high quality, and everyone will find something they like on the menu. The service has always been great. Always worth a visit!

Unfortunately, it's not as good as it used to be. Still overcrowded, but the portions are smaller and more expensive. There are standing-room-only options everywhere, but the quality at the original location is steadily declining. It often doesn't taste very good either. Very disappointed; Giesinger used to be a Giesing institution.

We were here for a birthday celebration with a small group. We were satisfied with the drinks selection; they even had drinks like Goasn (a type of beer) and Laterndlmaß (a liter of beer), which aren't so common. When we asked if we could split one Goasnmaß into two half-liters, unfortunately, this wasn't possible – not very customer-friendly. Shortly after, we ordered food. After I mentioned I didn't want red cabbage (it would just end up in the trash), he said that wasn't possible and wouldn't change the price. When we asked if it would come in a separate bowl, that would have been fine since a vegetarian would have eaten it, but unfortunately, it arrived on a plate, so he couldn't eat it. Unfortunately, the customer isn't king here, which I absolutely cannot understand, especially with such small things. On the positive side, the drinks and food were delicious, and the atmosphere in the pub was great.

My favorite place to go, so forgive me for being a bit biased…If you are vegan, vegetarian or a meat lover, you will find your pleasure here. The beer is on par with Augustiner, but so much more variety. The lady who served us was funny, fast and knew her stuff. You don‘t get bothered for drinking more before your glass hits dangerously low levels (actually the glass itself says: Don’t panic there is more) , you can sit outside, inside the brewery area on a “Bierbank”, in the main house with 2 floors or in the “Schänke”. If you are lucky on the right day you can join the ukulele crowd playing and singing. Please continueto bring joy to your customers ( and investors).

0/5 Very disappointing customer service. I arrived with my 77-year-old father at 3:40 p.m. Downstairs was open, but there was no one upstairs – we waited. An employee came and said we could sit down; they would open at 4:00 p.m. I explicitly stated that we could simply sit at the table until 4:00 p.m. without service. Despite this, he kicked us out. It was wet and windy outside – making my 77-year-old father wait in that weather is disrespectful. Luckily, we were sitting in the cozy Paulaner am Nockherberg 20 minutes later. Photo attached. So, better to walk 20 minutes than to have to wait outside like a dog. P.S. I always wished Giesinger Bräu success – after this experience, I sincerely hope they don't get a license for Oktoberfest. Because there, oh dear, the guests arrive as early as 9:00 a.m. and wait until noon for the tapping of the first keg.

All in all, a successful meeting. The waiter was extremely friendly and efficient. We were able to share a portion of roast pork with dumplings and red cabbage. It was ample and very tasty. The non-alcoholic beer, which we tried for the first time, did not disappoint our discerning palates. I even bought another case to take with us. We will definitely and gladly come back again.

Excellent vegetarian/ vegan options and non-alcoholic drinks

Pleasant atmosphere and genuinely friendly service. There's something for everyone on the menu. However, I was more than disappointed with the soup as a starter. €4.90 for a sweet potato soup that was gone after three spoonfuls, as it was more of a sauce bowl than a soup bowl. Very disappointing! The steak tartare was presented in a cool way with the individual components, allowing you to plate it yourself – a great idea, although unfortunately the meat wasn't hand-cut. I highly recommend the house beers and Spezi (a popular German soft drink). Very tasty! I would avoid the Coke Zero – the Eizbach Coke they offer is unfortunately quite unpleasant.

Absolutely unbelievable... You need a German passport to buy anything, there is a scam voucher system and a half hour queue to be told your passport is not accepted even thought your date of birth is pretty obviously printed on it. Avoid like the plague, terrible staff complete the mess of a brewery.

I can only say the best. I'm not usually a beer drinker, but the light beer and the non-alcoholic ones tasted absolutely fantastic. And the schnitzel was excellent. The service was friendly and fast. In short: everything was top-notch. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area!

The beer here is really good, and the food is also excellent. A must when in Munich! Hotels with city center connections are also within walking distance. Be sure to make a reservation in advance for a seat inside! The Eisbierbock (ice beer) has a super interesting history!

Simply rustic. Super tasty beer. Delicious food. The roast pork portion could be a bit larger, but the extra pieces of crust and the red cabbage are simply fantastic. Prices are at a normal Munich level.

My friends and I had dinner at this pub. Everything was excellent: the service, the atmosphere, and especially the vegetarian and vegan dishes. The quality of the ingredients and the way they're cooked are commendable. Well done!!!

We went to Giesinger yesterday (Saturday around 7:00 PM) for the first time in a long time. There were three of us and we ordered the Giesinger Wirtshauspfandl (a pan of gravy) for two and one Kasspatzn (a kind of cheese sparrow). We also had 6 Erleuchtung (a kind of beer) and 3 Obstler (fruit schnapps) for a total of €121 (without tip) (the Wirtshauspfandl costs €59 for two people). The pan arrived lukewarm, the duck was completely dried out, a bit of roast pork that wasn't really enough for two, and 4 tiny dumplings + 2 sausages. The sauce was also far too small, so we reordered – it arrived when we were almost finished eating. We were still hungry after the pan because the portion was simply too small for the price. The sauce we had initially ordered with the Kasspatzn was completely forgotten. The price-performance ratio here is unfortunately terrible – I only come here for a beer because the lighting is really great here... we certainly won't be coming back for dinner. The service was always friendly, but one more certainly wouldn't have hurt...

Really cool location! Great service! Incredibly good beer! Unfortunately, the food is average and not what you'd expect. The dumplings are very hard and don't taste fresh. The meat is rather dry. It's actually a great place, but the food could be improved.

Giesinger Bräu is always worth a visit. We had Märzen! We didn't like the "Festbier" beer. The food is also good. The dumplings could be a bit bigger.

Update from September 6, 2025 We were there again last weekend, this time with guests from outside Bavaria. The service was top-notch as always, and the beer was delicious. However, the food was only average. The menu felt smaller than last year, or had changed. We had the "Reißstuben" (roast pork) with roast and duck. The duck was rather disappointing, and the meat seemed to have "gone through" several times. The cheese spaetzle and the burger were good, and the roast was okay. It seems that the focus is now more on vegetarian and vegan cuisine. The classic Bavarian meat dishes are still okay. We gave the kitchen our feedback, but received no response. Overall, I'll happily stay there for the beer and the atmosphere, even though the food was only mediocre this time. 3 stars for the food. The rest gets 5 stars. Original I've eaten at the Bräustuben several times – and I always enjoy coming back! The beer is simply fantastic, especially because there are several varieties to choose from, which are great to try your way through. The Bräustuben (Bräustuben) are not only a great place for Bavarian food, but also for a real pub atmosphere. The pub is a wonderful place to sway along, especially when things get a bit more sociable. The atmosphere, food, and beer simply go together here – a classic for me that I enjoy visiting again and again.

The Giesinger Bräustüberl impresses with its very pleasant atmosphere. There are several small beer gardens surrounding the building, each with its own charm. Inside, you'll find various areas – be it at the bar, next to the brewing kettles, or in the separate bar area with music. The location near the Holy Cross Church is particularly beautiful: the protective wall facing the street and the green surroundings almost make you feel like you're away from the city. The cuisine is solid Bavarian fare, but with a modern and sometimes creative interpretation. I'd like to highlight the beer, which is truly excellent. Vegetarians will also find their money's worth here, as there's a much larger selection than you're used to at breweries. On the less positive side, it gets very crowded at peak times, which can lead to longer wait times for service and food. Prices are also on the higher side. Nevertheless, anyone looking for good beer and a special brewery atmosphere will certainly enjoy returning here.

Very tasty beer and a good selection. Very friendly service. The starter soup was good, but the quantity was more like a soup... Sitting on the balcony is functional, but a bit uncomfortable. When ordering our third beer, I had to wait a long time and be reminded twice... certainly an exception.

This is the second time I've received an email from a lawyer alleging defamation. I still have my reservation confirmation and am happy to forward it. Now for my experience: I was there on December 22nd. The schnitzel was okay. Of course, veal is expensive, but with the bland fried potatoes, it was unfortunately not worth it. The server was good, and the atmosphere in the brewhouse was good. We specifically checked online beforehand to see what time you're open, and it says midnight. You don't expect the waiter to be asking for the last round at 10 p.m.

Here's another attempt to rate the restaurant. Unfortunately, negative reviews are always deleted for alleged slander or defamation (clearly visible in the reviews). This also happens to friends and acquaintances. It's a shame that Giesinger bräu or Herr Marx apparently have a hard time dealing with negative reviews. This should be about criticism and freedom of expression. Although the criticism was more about the unsatisfactory price-performance ratio of the food and also the taste of certain dishes (well, if it doesn't taste good, then I don't like it). And every time, the beer selection and the taste of the beer were rated positively by me.

The atmosphere and service were truly excellent. Unfortunately, the food couldn't keep up. I had the tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms, which were unfortunately very greasy and completely tasteless. The portion size was also rather disappointing. For the price, I would have expected significantly more – in my opinion, the value for money for the food wasn't quite right.

A quaint restaurant with a covered terrace and beer garden, not far from the subway station. The service was excellent, the beer simply delicious, and the food beautifully presented and incredibly good. It's nice that, unlike many other Bavarian restaurants, vegans and vegetarians are also catered for here. One point deducted for the truly unpleasant noise level. It's almost impossible to have a normal conversation here.

The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, but the prices are simply outrageous for the portions. I paid 7 euros for a simple pancake soup, which came in a milk jug and was gone after three spoonfuls. You can go there for a beer once in a while, but you'll definitely never see me for dinner again.

We visited Gisinger Bräu with a larger group and were overall very satisfied with our visit. The ambiance is rustic and cozy, and the service was consistently friendly, attentive, and warm – you immediately feel welcome. Unfortunately, there were a few minor drawbacks: The pretzels were sold out by 6 p.m., which is a shame for a brewery. The one that was left didn't seem quite fresh either. The cheese spaetzle wasn't quite as good either – they were quite soggy and could have used a bit more seasoning. Nevertheless: The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and everyone enjoyed the beer. With a few minor improvements to the food, we'd definitely be happy to come back!

The best beer hall I've been to in Munich. It's not a touristy beer hall, so the prices are higher, but in my opinion they're absolutely justified. The food is excellent, and I was able to sample craft beers that I found truly delicious and unique (I bought a case, just to give you an idea). Compliments to the staff: thanks to their advice and kindness, the food pairings were excellent, and the evening was even more enjoyable. Highly recommended, I'll definitely be back.

For example, I was confused by why the vegetarian roast beef with onions was so expensive (I can understand that with meat). I opted for the roast pork. It was quite good, but for the price, I expected a larger portion or more refinement.

I've been to the Bräustüberl twice now and I'm impressed by the beer selection and quality. I also really enjoyed the food and service.

We were here for a wedding reception, and the location is truly beautiful. A fantastic venue for a celebration with plenty of space and an adjoining terrace. The staff was very friendly and incredibly attentive. Excellent. We personally didn't like the food all that much, but that's a matter of taste. All in all, highly recommended.

There's delicious beer here for every taste, along with delicious food, but unfortunately, nothing to nibble on. The liver was very tasty and came with plenty of sauce.

I had roast pork with Semmeknedl, which at 17.90 is quite a statement. Unfortunately, it was more reminiscent of pork carpaccio with dumplings 🫤

Finally made it to Giesinger after a city tour through the village of Giesing. Very friendly and relaxed waiters led us to a table, everything lovingly and casually decorated. They were out of sausages, so we had a simple salad and the glass noodles. The latter were particularly delicious, and fairly priced for the slightly higher prices (compared to Bavarian restaurants). We also had two beers (Erhellung and the light draft beer, both with a nice hoppy flavor). I liked it there.
