We recently visited this Munich restaurant and were absolutely delighted. The brewer's goulash was wonderfully flavorful, tender, and with a subtle beer note – exactly what you'd expect in a Bavarian inn. The snack platter was simple yet exceptionally tasty: high-quality regional ingredients, freshly prepared, and generously portioned. The ambiance is rustic and cozy – lots of wood, old brewery details, and a relaxed atmosphere where you immediately feel at ease. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Overall, a fantastic restaurant for anyone who appreciates down-to-earth Bavarian cuisine in an authentic setting. We'll definitely be back! 🍻

We went there for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was truly excellent, and we also really enjoyed the restaurant's ambiance. Unfortunately, the otherwise lovely evening was marred by an extremely unpleasant experience with the waiter. When we went to pay and the bill was somewhat higher than expected, I politely asked for an itemized list of the food and drinks we had consumed. The waiter's initial reaction, however, was that I should pay first, as I would see the details on the bill anyway. This made me suspicious, so I explicitly asked for an itemized list again. The waiter then suddenly quoted a price that was about 10 percent lower and explained that the previous amount included a tip. I found this very strange, as I always leave a 10 to 15 percent tip, but voluntarily, not because it's added on without my asking. When I insisted on a proper itemized list, the waiter became increasingly unfriendly and resorted to comments like, "We're not in Austria here" and "Those Austrians..." A truly disappointing and unprofessional end to an otherwise very pleasant restaurant visit.

Food was average but Mario was an incredible host! Thanks to him I would honestly come back!

We were here for lunch with work. Unfortunately, everyone who ordered the Kaiserschmarrn from the lunch menu had stomach problems afterward. The Kaiserschmarrn was clearly just reheated and was therefore extremely greasy/buttery. There were also many hard pieces of sugar mixed in. I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise, the atmosphere was charming and the waiter was in a joking mood.

The service staff ranges from extremely unfriendly to very nice. The atmosphere is pleasant, with a mix of tourists and locals. The food is good, with daily specials.

We went there for my brother's birthday. We sat next to tv and they started playing football, people were loud (hooligans shouting) and it is hot under the halogen heaters. Service was nothing special, not really friendly. Food was bad for the price. I have anticipated a juicy and crispy meat but the schweinshaxe tasted something that was left in the warm oven for hours... Chewy and dry. The Schweine braten was good! It was juicy and crispy. However, the table for three was very small and we felt uncomfortable with limited space to eat and drink. No coat hanger. A tourist trap.

We spent our evening at the Altes Hackerhaus with several guests, and I must honestly say everything was fantastic and went perfectly. The food and portions were incredibly good and generous – plenty! The service was also very nice, polite, and friendly. Adi recommended all the best things the restaurant had to offer, and everything worked out perfectly. Many thanks again for the quick and excellent service. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommended! If you're looking for something traditional in Munich, I would recommend the Hackerhaus. Best regards.

Extremely unfriendly staff. We were insulted as we walked in.

I ate the burger. It tasted okay, but unfortunately it was way too fatty. It could be better, especially for the price.

In fact, I went for the first time. We had a reservation, which was a good thing because the place was getting packed. We were greeted warmly and shown to our tables. The waitress was very friendly and super funny. The food came quickly and was consistently delicious. I also really liked that it wasn't too loud and that it didn't smell like a brewery.

Prominent location, which probably explains the prices. The food was tasty, but not outstanding. The interior was rustic Bavarian, quite nice. However, we sat at a small high table next to the stairs to the basement, which had a rather minty smell. And the service was nice, but unfortunately not attentive.

They saved the day, being the only one who served us without a reservation after 1 p.m.! Everything we tried was delicious, with authentic Bavarian flavors. We only stopped for a quick meal, so we were left wanting more desserts… we definitely have to go back to try them. The staff was very attentive, although the atmosphere was a bit stuffy, too noisy, and we were squeezed together between tables. The restaurant also has a terrace and several tables right in front of the door, however, we sat where they offered us.

The food was a bit expensive considering the portions weren't particularly large. The ambiance is beautifully furnished and decorated in typical Bavarian style, but the staff is as cold as ice and pulls a face as if they have no interest in the activity.

Never again, without asking, a 50 euro tip is added to the bill... and we had to ask for a printout, otherwise we wouldn't even have known about it.

The house is full, families are not welcome, and there are no drinks on the covered street. The house seems full...

A cozy, beautiful place... not just for tourists, but also for locals enjoying an after-work beer. I'd especially like to highlight Mario; he's been in charge of our table three times already, and we always make sure we return to his area. This consistent joy in his work, his sense of humor, his attentiveness... we've never experienced anything like it in the restaurant industry. The restaurant is his stage! He loves his job. A great asset to the business and his guests! We always had a great time.

We happened upon the Hackerhaus Munich today, and in my opinion, it's the best restaurant I've ever experienced. The atmosphere, the food, and our rascal Mario are absolutely amazing, and we've never experienced anything more authentic. We'd go back anytime. It was a wonderful last evening in Munich. The service was friendly, and our table was nice. The pork knuckle was tasty, but the sauce and dumplings were so-so, we didn't like them. The cheese spaetzle with cream (we knew this because we asked before ordering) was unfortunately not my thing. The portions are large, but I prefer smaller ones and a different taste... Thanks for the friendly service anyway!

The Highlight of my first trip to Munich. My wife and I loved it. Staff were so accomodating, very patient as we didnt speak German. I had the Ghoulash and what I was told was their Oktoberfest beer. Both were absolutely exceptional. The Ghoulash in particular was one of the most enjoyable stews I have ever had. Hope to return to Munich again so I can come back and try more of the menu!

I don't know how this gets such a good review. I haven't had such a bad meal in a long time (Cordon Blue with fries). For €25.90, it's truly a disaster. Flavorfully, and certainly not pleasing to the eye. Never again

We spontaneously stopped in for a final round after our first day in Munich. A nice, friendly welcome and a seat at the bar. A cozy restaurant with extremely friendly staff. We ended up with two rounds of Hacker Pschor and two schnapps. The Pschor is a more bitter beer. We then got a sample of Wiesen Bräu. Wow, that had more alcohol... a nice way to end the day. Highly recommended.

Been for an early dinner without reservation. Got a table for 2. It was very tight. No extra space around the table. Both got beer house from the tab. Both tasted and smelled buttery. The draft system is contaminated needs cleaning. It’s a shame that this is happening in the German traditional brewery restaurant. Had a pork knee. It was very dry. Needed a lot of effort to cut and chew. Disappointed

We had a great evening with our waiter, Mario. He was almost a comedian; we laughed so hard! Thank you so much. The food is good, not outstanding, but hearty and good, and lives up to its promise. If you're looking for an evening in an authentic restaurant and want to have fun, this is the place to be.

Unfortunately we were turned away quite rudely by the staff as apparently the Oktoberfest vouchers did not work until the Monday after which made zero sense. The vouchers did not mention this. This has left us severely out of pocket and a bad ending to what would have been a great weekend 👎

The waiter was visibly nervous when we asked for water for our dog and made a rude comment, saying, “Soon we’ll be serving dogs too.” The apple strudel was good, but with service this poor, it’s better to choose another place. At the end, the waiter was outright rude and demanded a tip, which we of course did not leave due to his inappropriate behavior.

Beautiful, historic house. A traditional atmosphere during the Wirtshauswiesn (Wednesday evening), good food, and good beer. Plus, attentive service from the cheerful Mario. Perfect.

When I pass by on the street in the autumn, I always want to sit down and drink pumpkin soup. And it's delicious.

Typical Bavarian restaurant in terms of interior and staff, friendly German, generous portions, very tasty, with classic Bavarian dishes, despite being in the middle of the square and crowded place we found it almost immediately at lunchtime, and fast service.

The food is delicious, and the place is very nice for a German atmosphere. But the staff is very grumpy and rushed. The service is inadequate.

Within very close walking distance of Marienplatz in Old Town, this restaurant and Biergarten offers a slightly quieter experience with plenty of outdoor seating and a good menu selection. We stopped for beer and dessert, which was delicious. The staff had some English proficiency, and everyone was kind about our lack of German. The menu has a QR code for an English version, which was very helpful.

Fantastic service by Mario, just made the outdoors section more enjoyable and fun compared to Oktoberfest. Well worth coming to the original Haus for Hacker

Good place, but not as it should. We tried some of the dishes in other restaurants and it wasn’t as good. But the food was nice, just not amazing! In the end a blowfly appeared which is never a good sign as they come in environments that are not as clean and tidy…

Sweet Jesus the service is terrible - alright Bavarian cuisine comparable to any other traditional restaurant in Munich. Ill tempered waiters will ignore you (it took nearly an hour to order food) and prefer to sit gossiping to themselves and openly drinking on the job. And yes, as per the other reviews they have a definite problem with race here.

We were so happy to be at the table with waitress Johanna. She served us perfectly. That's exactly what you want. That's why we came back two days in a row. She was so friendly. We'd love to come back and hope to be served by her again. The food and beer were also wonderful.

Don't come here! This is such a shabby place!!! I'm so pissed :) I read some reviews saying they treat Asians really badly, and it's true, hilarious! Don't even come here, it's such a waste of time 👐👐👐 When I first walked in, no one greeted me. I went to ask for a table myself, and the staff was incredibly perfunctory and awful. I asked in English, and they replied in German. (Likely a mistranslation) They didn't even show me to a table :) A second staff member passed by and I asked if everyone was seated. He said yes, and then left without giving me a menu. After waiting for 5 minutes, another staff member passed by and we asked. 👐 While we were looking at the menu, a staff member came over and told us in a very rude manner that this area was closed and we had to sit in the back. Okay, no one showed us to a table either. We went to the back to find a table, and while we were still looking for a table, another staff member came over and told us that this area was closed and we couldn't sit. Thank you so much 😊 I was completely speechless. I said, "We were told to sit here, but we're told to sit there! Where are we supposed to sit?" She then politely showed us to our seats and said welcome. Great, I thought, finally, I could enjoy my meal. But then! Ha! We waited for over 20 minutes, and no one even came to take our order. They kept ignoring our waving. We even called once, and they told us to wait. After all, the service was terrible, and I was completely disappointed. :)))

Another great beer garden in Munich!!

We had a truly lovely afternoon at the Hackerhaus! The food was delicious (especially the Kaiserschmarrn), typically Bavarian and prepared with love. I'd especially like to mention our waitress, Tamy – super attentive, friendly, and welcoming. We immediately felt welcome. We would love to come back and highly recommend it.

We were there for lunch, and the food was all delicious. We were served by Tamy, one of the most competent waitresses we've had in a long time. She was very polite and accommodating. We were completely satisfied.

The place seems more than decent, and right on a pedestrian shopping street, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone due to the staff's total lack of customer service. The food isn't great either!

Simply a great place to eat and linger

We want to eat there for the second time... because the food isn't bad. As mentioned in a previous review, we weren't served after quite some time. But we even asked the waiters three times, and they were still understanding. The answers were always the same: "My colleague will be right there." Then we asked the other, "My colleague will be right there." The third just said, "Yeah, right there..." We looked at each other and said we'll give them another 5 minutes and then we'll leave. There wasn't much going on outside—maybe 5 tables. We asked our table neighbors how long it took. They also said, "It's pretty long, so if you want to eat, it'll take a while." After 5 minutes had passed and two waiters were standing outside again, and no menu, no questions asked, or no order taken, we decided to leave and not come back.

So... we actually just wanted to have a nice lunch, a few drinks – nothing earth-shattering, we thought. Instead, we witnessed a gastronomic play ala "Waiting for Godot – The Restaurant Edition." After only 30 minutes, we still hadn't received a menu, a drink, or any sign of life from the wait staff. We were already starting to view each other as potential sources of sustenance. Then, finally! The waitress whizzed by – not with a friendly smile, but with the vigor of an orc commander abstaining from coffee. We politely said, "We're ready to order." 😊 There was no order – but an unexpected tirade, loud enough for the entire beer garden. Indignantly, we were denied any patience. Right, how could we possibly expect to eat something in a restaurant after half an hour? We left – hungry and thirsty, but at least one experience richer. Conclusion: If you're hungry, go somewhere else. And if you're into spontaneous parenting conversations at full volume—welcome! 😅

We went for a drink in this crazy heat – it was simply beautiful. The waiter who served us was really funny, and the service was absolutely 10/10, especially with the drinks. The only thing to watch out for is downstairs by the restrooms: There was a woman there who seemed to be in charge of cleaning. She asked me to give her money. I was surprised at first because I thought using the restrooms was included when you eat in a restaurant. When I politely told her that I only had a card (because we were in a restaurant and card payments were accepted there), she said, "Don't be ridiculous" – and started making fun of me. She was really rude. So I told her I was sorry, but I didn't have any cash, and just left. Upstairs, I asked the waiter if it was mandatory – and he said it was voluntary. I just wanted to mention that.

Unfriendly to the extreme. We wanted to go to Hacker for a few beers, and then we weren't even greeted because we had a box of food with us, which we obviously didn't want to eat there. They immediately start rudely telling us that we can't get in with it and that we won't get anything. Thanks very much, Hacker doesn't taste good anyway.

I had a beer there today. After about a 30-minute wait, an older lady came over to take my order. I've never been served so rudely. One star is too many. Unfortunately, it's not a flagship for Munich.

The food seemed okay to us, but the wait was much less so. The people at the table next to ours, who sat down 30 seconds before us, were served before we even bothered to take our order. After eating, no server asked us if we wanted dessert or a drink, and we had to wait a long time for the bill despite our reminders. We could have left without paying and no one would have noticed! And with the exception of one server, all the staff were cold.

I have never experienced such unfriendly and bad staff, a real rip-off

Andrea and Maria were ICONIC. Biggest smiles on their faces, wanted to get to know us. We came on a large trip with almost 40 people, and they treated us like family. Def recommend.

We stopped here for coffee and dessert and tried the apple strudel. It was absolutely delicious! A great spot to take a break and enjoy something sweet. The atmosphere was cozy and the service for our order was quick and pleasant.

Today I ordered food from Hüttn Burger. I found a white hair in my food. I ate half of it and then left it. Also, using the restroom is a fee, which is a negative. I went to the restroom and vomited up the whole burger. I reported this to the waiter. The waiter said he would check with the kitchen. He came back and said that everyone in the kitchen was wearing a toque and that they didn't know how it could have happened. They apologized and offered me an espresso. I declined. My meal cost €22.90; their coffee offer would have been worth maybe €3.50 or €3.90. When I got the bill, I still had to pay for the uneaten food. That was my experience, and I won't choose this place again.👎👎

Best restaurant downtown! A bit more upscale than the usual tourist restaurants!

Stopped by this beer garden this afternoon after a stroll through town. The waiter seemed very out of sorts, unfriendly, and made oddly funny remarks. The food we ordered came quickly, but unfortunately the pork knuckle was completely dry, with a crust resembling a latex glove! My partner's salad was apparently freshly prepared, but the accompanying bread was rock hard and inedible. After asking the waiter if we liked the food, I responded accordingly, and he apologized on behalf of the kitchen and offered me a spirit or espresso. Thanks for the espresso, but unfortunately we won't be back...

The Hackerhaus at Sendlinger Tor offers a pleasant atmosphere in the heart of Munich's city center. It was especially nice that we could sit outside – a definite plus in good weather. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the visit very pleasant overall. The food was solid – the taste was okay, if not outstanding. The prices were reasonable, especially for the central Munich location. The beer was a small disappointment, however: It was served as a Helles (light beer), but surprisingly, it came from a bottle and was poured into the glass – not a draft beer. Especially in a traditional Munich restaurant, I would have expected a fresh Helles on tap. This was a bit disappointing and didn't quite fit with the otherwise harmonious atmosphere. Overall, though, a nice place for a classic stopover – with good service, decent food, and fair prices.

Four of us spontaneously stopped by the Hackerhaus and left full and happy. The portions were very generous (pork knuckle, roast pork, sausage salad). The service was fantastic, friendly, and accommodating. The food was excellent. The entire place was very cozy and inviting. The only thing we deducted was the somewhat high prices. Even though quality can come at a price, we felt it was a bit excessive.

Today I was served by the operations manager Mr. Bugatti, I have to say, the service is excellent. But I don't just see the service, ambience and taste etc., since I also worked in the catering industry myself, I also see that the waiters are completely overloaded. The waiters and waitresses are all nice, friendly and polite. They try to do everything right quickly and quickly, and then have friendly answers ready if a guest becomes unfriendly. But as already mentioned, they are simply understaffed. As a guest, you would also like there to be two waiters, so that you can maybe have a little chat, even if it's just for a minute or two minutes, which is how you actually do it, but stick with it They don't have time to act humanely. I went to eat at the hackerhaus and didn't talk to the waiters or waitresses. So it wasn't the first time I've been to the hackerhaus, the food always tastes different, sometimes you're still in love, sometimes it has no taste and completely forgets to season, every now and then it works and other days you leave it in the hope of getting something better Just go back and eat. The ambience is cozy, nice and clean, but in the women's toilet it's a different story. brought photos. On the whole, it's just nice when you can live and eat with the deductions. I always enjoy going there. I would like to thank the very nice, hard-working waitresses and hope that my contribution could possibly change something in your work situation, And of course a big compliment to you for never losing your nerve.
