Parking spaces are limited in the yard, the food was good, the lamb was overcooked, I was unfamiliar with this type of sauce for asparagus

I was a guest there for 2 days and was thrilled from the start. Very friendly and accommodating staff, nice, bright, clean rooms and very good food. The furnishings have a beautiful wooden style. From there you can get directly into the city, whether on foot or by public transport. There is a parking space directly in the inner courtyard and a beautiful beer garden. I can only recommend it, whether for a cozy evening meal or just to have a drink.

The restaurant is special and highly recommended. Inside it is cozy and rustic, outside you can sit very nicely and protected. The service was friendly, competent and quick. The menu is clear, but very tasty and Thuringian, as well as regional. The food was fresh, well seasoned and very tasty, the price-performance ratio was absolutely fine.

The Braumeisterschnitzel was really great, the portion was huge. Everything fits here. Unfortunately the roulade and the catfish were not to our taste and also rather a small portion. The price-performance ratio was not appropriate. The service was very good and the restaurant is nice.

We were there for dinner on Sunday evening. I have to say service and child-friendly very good, the food especially the roulades (partly dry and not the filling that I/we expected in Thuringia) and the dumplings did not meet our expectations. Too bad The children's meal, the risotto, schnitzel and also the rösties were good. Maybe it was on Sunday evening??

Was a guest on April 2nd, 2025. Food is very tasty, even with special requests, and the local beer is in no way inferior. Courteous, very polite service!!!! I can only recommend...go, enjoy!

We had to wait a whole hour for our food. The schnitzel was cold, overcooked, black and tasted fermented. At least the service took it back without any problems and brought a fresh one. However, you couldn't eat the potatoes either. The Kassler was still raw in places and you were served a side piece, and it was also a "children's portion?". Not recommended!

We stayed in the escort bar for a few nights over the Christmas period. Our room was large, clean, but in the entire time it wasn't cleaned once, no beds were made (which isn't so tragic), no wastebasket was emptied, no fresh shower mat, let alone towels, nothing. We have never experienced anything like this. There was no contact person and no reception. As it turned out, only temporary workers were there for breakfast. When we came back in the evening, there were waiters on site who had nothing to do with the accommodation. The breakfast was solid. We had to pay upon arrival with the information that the invoice would come by email. None came. It was all a bit strange. The location of the house is unbeatable. It was a short walk to the Christmas market, there are many and very good restaurants. We had no problem finding space in the evening. We also went to the event in the Weimar Hall, a 10-minute walk. Weimar is a great city that we visit regularly, but in the future we will be staying in other hotels, of which there are many.

I was there for the trainees' Christmas party and got Caesar salad - filling and delicious. The rest is too meaty and German for me. But no hate, friendly staff (Bitburger tastes like cock in every restaurant)

The tavern is located in the center of Weimar. The atmosphere in the guest room is very rustic, just right for spending a cozy evening with friends.

Very nice old building, also well furnished inside. The chairs become uncomfortable after sitting for a long time. We were a group of 20 people. The food took over an hour to arrive, it tasted good but it was only lukewarm. For 2 people the food was cold. The first drink arrived quickly but then there was a 40 minute wait.

“Certainly enough for seniors or children’s plates, but definitely not enough for adults.” The two of us had dinner here. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. The food was generally okay, but unfortunately the portion was too small. I had the roulade and was disappointed that only a dumpling was served - there were few side dishes. For the price and the type of dish I would have liked a larger portion. I also noted this on site. Overall, the taste was good, but the ratio of price to portion size wasn't right in my opinion.

Sufficiently large portions. The roulade was good, the schnitzel was ok. The fkank steak was raw and tough. The staff was difficult to get. Despite the fact that we ordered well before most visitors arrived, we waited 60 minutes for our food. Service was rather mediocre.

We were greeted very rudely by the young German blonde who didn't want to or couldn't speak English (name unknown unfortunately) even though we announced our arrival by phone. We felt forced upon us and didn't really feel welcome. Drinks order was placed and we actually wanted to order food at the same time but we had no chance of doing that, “I’ll order drinks first and then food”! When drinks were brought we were already thinking about ordering food somewhere else and we said we needed a moment to order the food. The blonde simply took the menus away. Only when spoken to did they say “I’ll leave a menu” (there were 4 of us) Then it was clear to us that we didn't feel comfortable here. Prices were quite steep considering the service.

Had a study group meeting for alumni last night on October 26th, 2024. It was a wonderful evening, first-class service and, above all, the cuisine, simply delicious. We can definitely recommend the shovel, it really couldn't be better. All good wishes, see you again soon.

A shot in the oven! One can only warn! Went to the restaurant as a group. As a starter, seasoned meat that was far too dry. For the main course, a "tender pink" fried steak that was not yet cooked through. The roulade - on all the plates - was tough and filled with an indefinable cream. We immediately thought of the seasoned meat again. As a tip to the kitchen, in which Original Thuringian roulade, that's how it's sold there, includes cucumber, onion, bacon and mustard. The service also only responded to the list of defects with a nod, something else wasn't. And it wasn't that cheap either, it would have been fine too. if it had fit.

The menu was very manageable, the prices were extremely high, some of the food was served lukewarm 👎Only the service was very commendable.

We didn't have a reservation, but the waitress suggested a table that wasn't needed for another hour and adjusted the service to the time slot

We Italians often play the part of the "super-gifted" when it comes to cooking and, I don't deny, we too have succumbed to this role. Tonight, however, we remained pleasantly trapped in the network of good quality and highly traditional Teutonic cuisine. This "pub with elegance" restaurant, as the menu title says, was our Charon on the sea of ​​humility and great respect. The dishes are difficult to describe exactly not knowing German and relying on g.lens but, in summary, it is: a dish composed of a slice of stuffed roll, red cabbage and currants, with dumplings and a brown base of the same roast, the other dish with a slice of roast pork marinated and cooked in beer, with cumin, horseradish, mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Surely I forgot something and I didn't really identify much but I know for sure that they were both divine. Excellent beer and, as always in Thuringia, light and not very carbonated. The desserts were a discovery of innovation and creativity: pumpkin mousse with salted peanut cream and white chocolate, chocolate cake with cream and sour milk cream. Liqueurs close: you can find them in the photo on the menu marked in red. Two particular spirits, a beer grappa and a rye spirit, both worth trying, the first truly exquisite. The bill is in the photo, I would say proportionate. Have a nice dinner!!

There is an ancient house in the middle of Weimar. A treasure! It accommodates me with a great bed, bathroom and a door height of 1.70m. A wooden floor... the ambience, great. The food is amazing. Schäufele...it's been ages since I saw something like this on a menu. A poem. Served by friendly staff in the historic taproom with homemade beer (Watzdorfer). At the time of my overnight stay there were seven (7) different varieties. I've tried almost all of them and will definitely have to come back. A full recommendation from the bottom of my heart. Update: I found another picture of the room!

A beautiful house, perfectly located and tastefully decorated. To the kitchen: Regional products, processed at the highest level - the preparation is the purest feast for the eyes, In my opinion it is now an integral part of the map of good taste in Weimar. The only point of criticism is the service staff. There is still room for improvement here. Disorganized...but trying hard.

A fantastic traditional Thüringen restaurant, tucked away in the centre of old Weimar. Plenty of seating inside and out and plenty of room for larger families and groups. The building has a stunning exterior with the old wooden framework and this is continued inside. The interior, the service and naturally the food were of highest merit and we would definitely go again. Everybody commented how good the food was, and there were no empty plates at the end! If you're in Weimar and want a special place to enjoy the finest local cuisine, then you can't go wrong here!

My mom and I wanted to have dinner and were looking forward to it, but the menu online isn't up to date at all. Unfortunately only one vegetarian dish... Because of that we left again. But the young girl welcomed us nicely :)

Rarely have we had such good German chefs as here in the Watzendorfer Geleitschenke! Great, everything freshly prepared, decorated with cress, portions are large and of top quality. We were there with the family and two boys and everyone was totally satisfied and would come back at any time.

Probably like everywhere there is a lack of staff. Restaurant was 3/4 full but we had to wait 1 hour for the food. Food super tasty. Service super friendly. After 1 hour it turns out that of the 4 orders only 3 made it to the kitchen. Again: the seating is very nice and the people are very friendly. Maybe good things take time?

There was clearly room for improvement! On our first evening in the beautiful cultural city, our loved one was in the mood for down-to-earth tavern cuisine. The restaurant we were aiming for was unexpectedly closed on Sunday evening and so we ended up right next door in the Geleitschenke, or rather in front of it in the spacious outdoor area. Unfortunately the food wasn't convincing: Braumeister schnitzel with “golden yellow” fried potatoes and braised onions - schnitzel okay, the “fried potatoes” warmed rather than fried Sauerbraten with pearl onions, red cabbage and Thuringian dumpling in breadcrumbs - that was an overly sour affair, the meat was tender, the sauce (soup) unfortunately very thin and overly acidic The service staff was open-minded, friendly and attentive; requests for additional drinks were requested several times. My criticism during the meal about the sauerbraten was accepted, but the only reaction was to say that they wanted to inform the kitchen. Apparently I wasn't the only guest who didn't find the sour soup so tingling that day. The cook may have used far too much pickling. Another guest even had a spoon brought to him. I'm not familiar with sauerbraten and the red cabbage was pretty inconsequential for me and tasted unremarkable. Edible, but not exactly enjoyable. A pity! We had much better pub food, maybe we didn't have the best day. Complaint management can be expanded!

On the recommendation of a local, we specifically looked for the Watzendorfer Geleitschenke! When we got there we were pleasantly surprised by the location! We didn't need any rooms because we were accommodated elsewhere. Food = taste really great for us, only the temperature (lukewarm) of the food was borderline, which we also stated. Price = normal for a tourist stronghold Beer = lllleeeccckkkeeerrr Ambiance = great Cleanliness = Good Service = quick, nice, attentive!

We had dinner with 9 people. The food was served quite quickly. Some had the juicy honey kassler with green beans and sweet potato puree, the sauerbraten, the beef roulades, the braised beef caldron and trout. With the Honigkassler there was 1 small piece of meat a few beans and the puree was thin and not like puree should be. We thought there would be something more to come, but unfortunately it was all on the plate. The taste was good but the portions were small. Food was also only lukewarm. Not reasonably priced. Doesn't fit the ambience of a pub either. Trout had a funny smell but was OK. Beef wade and roulade were again sufficient and tasty. Unfortunately we didn't complain until late because we were hungry. Of course it wasn't okay either, but it's better to say something at all. The waiter wanted to take our drinks, but according to the boss he didn't because we had already eaten. But we didn't want to do that, we just wanted to give our feedback for the next time in order to make it better if necessary.

Roulade was just "okay", unfortunately only with a dumpling, for that almost €24 is definitely too much, even if the plate was overflowing with sauce... it was filled with an indefinable cream (mustard?), nothing more. The employees were so friendly. The food came within a few minutes, so I can't assume that it was freshly prepared, just warmed up.

There is no trace of the quality of the Köstritzer Schwarbierhaus anymore. Waited 45 minutes for a starter (only seasoned meat) and well over 1 hour for the main course. Price and quantity of food very inadequate (fish too salty) If nothing changes, it is no longer recommended.

We only went for dinner, not an overnight stay. The service was very nice and attentive. Ambiance is very nice. The food was very tasty, even if one meal (asparagus with potatoes) wasn't quite that hot, it was promptly made hot according to our advice and made up for it with a small, free beer. Responded very well. We will definitely come back again. By the way, Watzdorfer Hell is also highly recommended.

The review only refers to the restaurant: The friendly staff who were on duty during our visit should be praised. Everything else, well... The roast dishes on offer (roulade and sauerbraten) have absolutely nothing to do with good Thuringian cuisine. Anyone who doesn't know it will certainly be satisfied with it, but anyone who has only eaten once in a really good Thuringian inn will be disappointed. As a native of Oberweißbach, I can only say that the “Oberweißbacher Roulade” on offer has nothing to do with what is usual here. The fact that the good meat is sourced from there is worthy of all honor and is also the only thing that connects this dish with Oberweißbach. Good Thuringian cuisine, of which we are rightly proud, unfortunately works differently. But it's probably true again: it's enough for unsuspecting tourists.

After 1:45 hours of staying, we finally received our main course. This doesn't seem to be a problem for the service staff.

From ordering to the first starter (only 1 starter was ordered) we had to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes. 20 minutes later we had the main course. We got the Braumeister Schnitzel twice. The breading was thicker than the schnitzel itself. I would estimate that the meat was less than 2 mm thick. We should pay around 24 euros for the schnitzel and a few fried potatoes. After I explained to the waiter (very friendly by the way) that it seemed too expensive to me, he wanted to clarify this with the chef. The waiter wanted to waive the two schnitzels for us, but the chef didn't see this because we had eaten one schnitzel and so only had one returned. We told him that we had to wait 1 hour and 35 minutes for food and that the children (9 and 13) were also hungry and were therefore more or less forced to eat something. Unfortunately the chef was unreasonable. The waiter gave us some of the drinks off his own initiative. As I said, the waiter was very friendly and helpful but the rest, no thanks. We had booked the table for 7 p.m. We were there at 7 p.m. and it wasn't overly crowded.
