So, I deliberately waited a few days to write a review so I wouldn't post it out of emotion. The portions were too small for the price. The portion of fries wasn't even a kid's/senior's portion. The taste is no different from a chip shop. So, OK, but nothing special. We won't be going back.

I can only repeat my review from two years ago: Good food at fair prices, often off-menu specials, delicious Köpi or other beer fresh and well-tapped from the tap, super friendly and competent service, parking right in front of the house, dogs welcome and pampered! What more could you want? Simply great, I'm always happy to come back! Always good! Absolutely fair prices, good food and fine wines, delicious Köpi on tap. Very friendly and competent service, a great team that has been working there for many years. Special requests are easily accommodated. I'm happy to come back and always will be!

The food was okay, but the portions were small. The steak was still rare, even though it was ordered medium. Drink service was only mediocre. Drinks didn't arrive until the main course. Even ordering more drinks took quite a while for them to arrive.

Delicious food but small portions

Really nice service. It was very busy on a Saturday, but that wasn't a problem for the service. Very flexible and friendly with special requests like menu changes. Salad instead of potatoes, for example. Definitely recommended.

Sorry guys, €20 for this plate is just ridiculous! The service was nice! And it tasted good, but this plate for this price!? Not again!

Update 07/2025: Unfortunately, I can confirm the poor reviews regarding portions/uninspired side salads at increased prices starting in 2024. Since there seems to be no improvement in sight, we will no longer visit the restaurant.

90 minutes wait with my old parents for a very bland and unlovingly prepared meal. When I complained about the wait and the food the manager got rude and made insulting comments to my 90 year old dad no which garnered looks from other tables. Not impressed at all.

Friendly service, delicious food. Good value for money.

When your 11-year-old says the schnitzel was a disaster... A gyro plate with potato chips for almost €20 and you didn't even come close to filling up, a baby portion. You just go home hungry. Two tables arrived much later, ordered 5-10 minutes later, and got their food first.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer satisfied. For one thing, the portions have become very small, and for another, the food is presented very carelessly. It used to be better. The people are always friendly, but not very attentive. The food is still very good and tasty. That's just not enough, unfortunately. A major drawback!!! The men's restroom is a disgrace. Upon entering, it stinks of urine, the toilet seat is loose, and the hygiene is questionable. The toilet brush can't be removed from its holder. This results in the ceramic being in a catastrophic state after people have been in the restroom. No paper towels, not refilled even after an hour.

Well, that's a shame. When it comes to a Greek restaurant, you simply have certain expectations and are willing to dig a little deeper into your pockets for them. For me, that includes the right ambiance, hospitality, an ouzo as an aperitif, some bread with tzatziki and olives as an appetizer. Add to that a generously or even over-portioned main course that you simply can't finish. This makes you want to come back again and again and recommend the place. But unfortunately, you won't find any of that in this restaurant. Instead, the interior is a very simple ambiance, service is fast but uncaring, a side salad without vegetables, and tiny portions at unreasonable prices. For example, 6 defrosted frozen shrimp with some broccoli for over 20 euros, or a gyro the size of a child's portion. The food tastes okay, but the owner either seems to have not been to Greece for a while or simply doesn't (anymore) indulge his customers in the benefits of Greek hospitality. As I said: a shame!

Very friendly team, excellent “homemade” Greek cuisine, rustic old style and attractive furnishings! Constantly expanded. You can also sit outside (dry) for longer! Perfect!

This restaurant makes you want to go to Greece! The food was really delicious and we were well full. The service was very friendly and we were able to drop by relatively spontaneously. A real insider tip in the south of Duisburg. We'd love to come back. :)

Disappointing value for money The food tasted good and was well seasoned, but the portions were far too small for the price. The “farmer's plate” seemed carelessly prepared, the gyros disappeared after a few bites, and the minced steak felt like it wasn't 50g. The salad that was served in advance was just lettuce with some dressing - no tomatoes or other ingredients like feta. Unfortunately we didn't get full and for the same money you get a lot more in a Greek snack bar. We also missed the typical Greek atmosphere. It was our first and unfortunately also our last visit.

Tasty and fresh food, the service was also great; 4 stars because only EC or cash payments are allowed.

Good restaurant with pleasant service and reasonable prices.

We were there for the first time on Sunday. The owner greeted us very friendly and we were given a comfortable table. When we ordered, we received a mixed salad from the house (really delicious). We ordered an appetizer but it was served with two plates so we could share. Delicious. We also really enjoyed the main course. Later the owner showed us the winter garden and the beer garden. Both very comfortable. We'll definitely come back.

The restaurant didn't take us to Greece, the ambience had nothing Greek except for a few pictures, modern pop music was playing. I would have liked nice Greek music to be played in the background. The typical flair was missing. The food was okay, it tasted good, but the portion of my Greek salad was maybe a quarter of the size compared to other restaurants. In my opinion, this definitely needs to be improved. Same with the portion of tzatziki with bread. 3 mini slices of bread were added. Luckily, the portion of bread we ordered immediately was a little larger. Overall it wasn't bad, but there was a lot missing to leave a lasting impression or to make you feel like you were on holiday in Greece.

We were there 6 years ago and the portions were more than good and sufficient. Now we were back and I have to say to my disappointment that the value for money is no longer right, the portions are much too small and the price is too high. We won't come back. The quality of the food is very good.

Manageable portions at an ambitious price and extremely friendly staff. The food itself is really good, the fries aren't home-made, they're convincing..... at that price I would have expected home-made ones. In addition, despite the infrared heating in the covered terrace part, it was cold and quickly...

Unfortunately very disappointed!! The food itself is delicious, but unfortunately very carelessly prepared and just plain boring. The salad was more of a joke. There wasn't even any onions with the tzatziki, let alone an olive. We also had to pay for the ouzo after dinner ourselves. In any case, me and my wife will not be coming back.

We always enjoyed staying at Spitiko, but unfortunately the price-performance ratio is no longer right! The portions have become very small and served extremely carelessly! When it comes to the main course, you can't even think of a little salad decoration or an olive or pepperoni on the tzatziki! And even worse is the salad plate with a dollop of dressing for the main course! Unfortunately, the plates now have the character of a snack bar. It's a shame, the taste is still very good, but the eye is also there and you probably want to be full given the prices.

A real insider tip in Duisburg. The food is very tasty and the portions are just right. The prices are also completely reasonable. There is delicious Alt Bier Uerige and you should also drink it when you are there. I ate gyros and will eat it there more often. The service is nice and very friendly. At the end when you paid you got an ouzo on the house, what more could you want. Can only recommend it.

The food was tasty, but paying €22.50 for 2 small pieces of lamb and a potato with quark is cheeky. When I asked, there wasn't even an answer. Unwearable and a rip off for me. We weren't full. We can't go there anymore.

I would have liked a larger portion. It would be better to make it a euro or two more expensive and the customers will be full and satisfied. The food is really good, we would go there more often if we were full. I think the ambience inside is quite good, it has charm. Ambiance outside: well.... If it weren't so loud... Otherwise, you can recommend the restaurant without hesitation. Tip: reserve a table indoors. It's already very loud outside in the winter garden.

The prices and the portions are out of proportion. For example, you pay for a Rhodes plate about 16.90 euros and you get a pensioner portion with hardly anything on the plate. Conclusion: Don't go there if you're hungry. You go home hungry there. Rip off!!!

Actually we like the restaurant. But the service staff's treatment this time was very rude. Although the entire winter garden was free, the five of us were not allowed to sit at a table in the sun because that would have taken up two tables. Instead we were shown to another table, which was in the shade and in the far corner. The reason was that guests could still come. Nobody came until the end and the table we wanted remained free.

They treat you as you would need to thank them for feeding you. Kids portions were so small that our 8 years old had to eat something more at home. I never left a greek restaurant before saying I could have eaten more. And we took even starters. Bread was not included in the starters. For the portions are the prices way too high. Old furniture. Bad service. Never again. Even a greek imbiss in Lintorf is 10 times better.

Great Greek with family ties. Delicious food with recommendations (if you want). Delicious white wine and draft beer. Great location, easily accessible by bike, train and car. On-site parking. Lamb shank with rice and salad. The dish simply lacks the right taste and is not fried crispy. The service was excellent. The restaurant was very busy. Dogs were also allowed to be there. The facility is outdated.

My visit to the Froschenteich restaurant left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the ambience really has charm: rustic and inviting, a place where you feel at home in a certain way. The food itself was delicious and I couldn't fault the taste. However, the quantity was disproportionate to the price, which was a bit disappointing. Even though we had reservations, our appearance seemed to surprise the staff, which made the start of the evening a bit rocky. Another point that needs improvement is the parking facilities. The restaurant does not offer enough parking spaces, which can be a problem, especially in bad weather or for guests from further away. It was also far too loud in the restaurant for my taste, which made conversation at the table difficult. Despite these points of criticism, I have to say that the restaurant was very well attended. This indicates general popularity and suggests that many guests value the positive aspects far above the minor inconveniences. Overall, Gaststätte zum Froschenteich offers a lovely experience with delicious food and a unique ambience, although there are areas where there is still room for improvement.

Portions far too small, bifteki very oversalted. Prices ok if the portions were right. So at the Greek snack bar it's just as tasty and you don't get children's plates there.
