We had a reservation and received a friendly welcome. Since it wasn't busy yet, we were able to order promptly. That quickly changed, and it became more of a mass-processing experience. The couple next to us couldn't order their drinks until we were almost finished, even though they arrived shortly after us. Empty glasses were ignored, even though three servers repeatedly walked through. The children's food arrived after ours, and it probably wouldn't have arrived at all if we hadn't asked for it. We had the Gröstl, which I actually really like, but it was the first Gröstl I've ever had without meat. It was more like bridal potatoes with bacon.

The food was delicious and everyone was very friendly. Prices were reasonable. We ate there almost exclusively during our vacation.

The food was great and portions were truly generous. Will definitely recommend to visit this place. But have some cash with you as they do not accept cards.

Best cheese spaetzl to take away

My sisters and I were there for the first time on vacation. We found this restaurant by mistake, but I must say that from the first night to the last, we always dined there. It's a beautiful place and the waiters were not only very kind but also made us feel at ease. I work in the industry and I observed carefully and I can assure you that they pay attention to everyone equally... Given the high rating of the restaurant, we expected much more. Large portions, but no vegetables, very below average taste. Oversalted fish fingers. Baked potatoes with schnitzel - coated in paprika - why??

The food served its purpose and was filling, but the taste wasn't particularly convincing. The dishes seemed rather bland overall, some of them even oversalted or slightly burnt. The farmer's bread was very reminiscent of standard mixed bread from the supermarket and didn't seem particularly special.

The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine, the home-style cooking is good, and the portions are large. The staff is very friendly.

The service and ambiance were good, but the potatoes on my schnitzel with fried potatoes were very disappointing. They weren't crispy or browned at all. Perhaps it was due to the crowds, but nonetheless, my expectations weren't met.

Unfortunately, the homemade Obatzer cheese was from a bucket... from the "Alpenhein" company. Poor-quality frozen schnitzel from the fryer, mushrooms for the cream sauce from a jar or can. Horrible.

We were there on vacation, and we stopped here at the end of the day. The food is huge, you should definitely know what to expect beforehand, otherwise you'll quickly overestimate yourself. The taste is very good.

A lovely inn, as the name suggests, by the village fountain. We sat outside, so I can only comment on the beer garden, and it was very nice. The service was very pleasant and friendly. The food was tasty, but I ordered Gröstl (a kind of German dish), and anyone who knows what it's like expects crispy baked fried potatoes with bacon, preferably from a cast iron pan. I was disappointed, because the fried potatoes were soft and anything but crispy. I have no idea what the kitchen did. Just reheated them? Definitely not Gröstl. A shame!

A very nice inn, but unfortunately, it's difficult to get a table without a reservation (so I definitely recommend booking). There's enough choice for everyone, and you'll definitely be full! Aside from that, the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I had a knuckle of pork that was very large and crispy. The chef, in particular, is very accommodating. We had a great time with him as part of a larger group; it was a very enjoyable evening, so we came back the next day.

It's actually a nice location, but a few details are a bit annoying: after 8:00 PM, there's no more food coming out of the kitchen, the music over the speakers is inappropriate and too loud; a request to turn the music down a bit was reluctantly granted, but the volume was raised again after a short while. Card payments are unfortunately not available at the moment due to technical problems. The food is more or less recommendable depending on the dish: the Jägerschnitzel with spaetzle was really good, I would definitely order it again. The meatloaf, on the other hand, was bland, and the gravy was simply salty with no other flavor. The fried potatoes and salad were quite tasty. The prices are completely reasonable for the region. A little friendlier service and a little more refinement with the meatloaf, and you'd be happy to come back.

The food was okay, but they haven't accepted card payments for months "for technical reasons." A no-go these days. Service could be friendlier.

We had a schnitzel and a kasespatzle, tasted good but unfortunately a bit dry. Service was unfortunately not really with a smile and they had not taken into account that if you come with a baby that you also bring a stroller.

We're on vacation here in Grainau. We stopped here spontaneously for dinner because rain was approaching. When a thunderstorm broke out, we escaped from the terrace and went inside, and even though we had reservations inside, we got a table without any problems. The service was very friendly... our knuckle of pork, fried potatoes with a fried egg, and salad arrived promptly and were very tasty. After dinner, the storm had passed, the terrace had been wiped dry, and we sat outside to make room for our reservation... All this within an hour's stay and without any stress.... SUPER Reservations are still better, though, because we see that the place is always full.

Hey guys, there's a lot of light, but unfortunately, there's also a bit of a dark side that's a bit annoying. The food was really OK, the reservation worked perfectly, the prices were fair, it was busy, and the service was still excellent... everything was top-notch so far. But why on earth do you have a super modern electronic ordering system, but don't accept card payments, and unfortunately, the service is significantly downgraded? You really should change that... it's not up to date! Otherwise, we'd be happy to come back; the rösti and schnitzel were great!

Every single dish we ate was excellent. We had to wait a long time because there were too few staff on duty on a holiday, but the two of them were very friendly. (A short blonde and a short Indian man) We didn't understand the role of the other employees (tall, always with their cell phones in their pockets), and they weren't attentive.

Nice terrace at the village pump. Traditional Bavarian dishes, fresh, ample, and swiftly served. I would have rated 5 * if we had been allowed to sit inside but that seemed out of the question for reasons unknown to me.

The pork knuckle was good. The cheese spaetzle tasted reheated, but the fried onions weren't fried at all; they were much too soft and not browned at all.

The food was excellent! The knuckle of pork was tender and fell off the bone easily. The skin was very crispy! A proper knife was provided for properly cutting the rind. The dumplings were plentiful, and the beer sauce was very flavorful. The cheese and potato rosti was very tasty, albeit a bit overcooked. The salad was well dressed, but it could have used a bit more dressing. The service staff made a real effort to be friendly. You'll definitely need some patience, as there are quite a few tables to be served. We were satisfied.

Perfect location, very good atmosphere outside, the dishes we ordered were fine but it is something we will not order again as the Rosti is quite greasy and the fish is under seasoned for my taste.

The selection of dishes and drinks is good. There's something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable considering the proximity to Lake Eibsee. The atmosphere is cozy. Centrally located restaurant on Untergrainau's village square, with a beautiful interior and a lovely terrace. The food is served all day, which is rare, if not unique, in the area. Very friendly service.

We had the pleasure of stopping by the village fountain on May 31, 2025. It perfectly rounded off our trip. The food was exceptionally delicious, the portions very generous! We were particularly impressed by the buttery roast pork. The schnitzel and, last but not least, the heroic pork knuckle were also impressive. The beer was delicious, the clear schnapps aided digestion and lifted our spirits. We would especially like to thank the chef and owner of the village fountain! After the wonderful feast, he kindly drove us to a dance hall in Garmisch-Partenkirchen because no taxi was available. Full service, excellent guest service! A very pleasant atmosphere, located right on Brunnenplatz, with parking directly across the street, benches with soft furs, parasols, beautifully decorated table settings, and super delicious, hearty, traditional food. There were three of us and we ordered schnitzel, meatballs, and meatloaf with fried potatoes, potato salad, and a side salad. The drinks were nice and cold. There was hardly any wait time despite the busy customers. Friendly service. Clean restrooms. We'd be happy to come back.

Service is also very good. The only disadvantage is that payment is only possible in cash, but EC payment was possible once. Planning to vacation in this region again this year and will definitely eat here again.
