It's outrageous that you're still forced to pay in cash here and can't pay by card. It's completely incomprehensible that a restaurant in Germany in 2025 is still operating like it's the 20th century!

Goat cheese salad (€12): Visually appealing, but the goat cheese looked like it came from Aldi. Too little quality and creativity for the price. Pork knuckle with dumplings and sauerkraut (approx. €20): The portion of knuckle was generous, but unfortunately disappointing in terms of taste. The dumplings were bland and unsalted, the gravy almost tasteless, and I left the sauerkraut. The knuckle was large and partially crispy, but the meat was tasteless – it gave the impression of a convenience product. The price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right. At these prices, I expect more artisanal quality rather than a ready-made product feel.

We ate here two days ago and were pleasantly surprised by the portion size, the taste, and the atmosphere. We would definitely eat here again!

We visited the Wirtshaus zum Dorfbrunnen today and were very satisfied, if not delighted. The atmosphere is beautifully inviting, cozy, and decorated for Christmas. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding – delicious and a generous portion. We'll be back!

We had a late lunch at Gaststätte in a Saturday. The place is wonderful, super super cozy and with a great atmosphere. The staff was kind and super efficient. Food was served super fast. Just note that they weren't accepting card payment when we were there. We rated it as 3 stars because the food was not as good as expected. The knödel were cold, and the sauerkraut and the beer sauce were definitely not homemade. The salads were good and big portions. The pork belly could have been a bit better seasoned, and have some crispy parts on it. The Käsespätzle was very good, very cheesy. The deserts were also not perfect. Kaiserschmarrn was not crispy at all, and a bit greasy overall. The creme brulee was not hard on top, but the taste was really good. So, overall, the atmosphere and the service was great, but the food was in general very medium, also consideif the price.

We spent a week on holiday in Grainau. We chose this restaurant because it was right on the village square, not far away. Of course, Bavarian cuisine was a must on holiday. Since the food was so delicious, we ate there every evening. I ordered a different dish each night (there were seven different options). The venison cappuccino was just as tasty as the pork knuckle, potato rösti, cheese spaetzle, or the various types of schnitzel. Everyone will leave satisfied. The friendly service and "Mama" deserve special mention. Because of our inquisitive questions, Mama treated us to an extra dessert. (Greetings to her!) Upon our departure, we personally thanked the chef brothers and offered them a complimentary schnapps, praising their culinary skills. Keep up the good work! If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely come back; otherwise, we highly recommend it.

We ate at Dorfbrunnen on November 14th. The staff was very friendly, and the food was delicious. We had Jägerschnitzel with Spätzle and Schnitzel with fries. We'll definitely come back for another meal. You should make a reservation, though, as the restaurant was very popular.

You really get your money's worth, and the food is delicious. The portions are very generous. Recommended if you're hungry after a long walk. You can park on the street with a parking disc.

Portion sizes are too large, but since I'm an athlete and like to eat a lot, I won't deduct any points for that. However, you should definitely come with a good appetite. Our special requests were accommodated; I had Kösspätzle (a type of German pasta) with my two schnitzels instead of fries, and the amount of Kösspätzle is a full portion in its own right in other restaurants. Taste-wise, it was something I have to say about the quality in a long time; I definitely can't make it better at home, so the price is absolutely reasonable. The Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake) was cooked to perfection, and the service was fantastic in my opinion.

My friend had the pork knuckle and a liter of beer—mind you, it's one of the few restaurants that serves liter of beer. The pork knuckle was delicious; everything was perfect. I had the potato cheese pancakes with mushrooms. Unfortunately, the potato pancake tasted mostly of oil. The service was super hospitable and simply fantastic!

The restaurant offers a beautiful ambiance and friendly, discreet service. The food is truly delicious and plentiful, so you'd have to be very hungry to eat it all. Leftovers are also expertly packaged for later consumption at home. The menu features mostly local dishes. The restaurant was also open in the afternoon, which isn't often the case in the area.

We ate here several times during our week-long stay. The food and service were outstanding. Be sure to make a reservation as it fills quickly on busy days. Some say the menu is limited. But we found it to be quite well rounded with traditional German fare. But the most enjoyable aspect was the staff. Simon and Zoli made us feel very welcome and we engaged in lively conversation. Noami was super friendly and attentive and Erik the chef was outstanding. We made friends and enjoyed superb traditional German fare. I highly recommend this place.

The food and ambiance were okay, but they haven't accepted card payments for months "for technical reasons." A no-go these days. Service could be friendlier. Addendum: The owner has already tried twice to delete my 2-star review. For this reason, it has now been reduced from 2 to 1 star. So, as a guest, should we ask ourselves why there are so few negative reviews here?

Very cool host, fair sportsman, and incredibly friendly! The food was excellent; the lady was full and I ate too much, and the nougat schnapps was also delicious.

Overall, a nice place to stop. 6.8/10 The ambiance and service were both cozy. The latter could have been a bit more attentive. The Kaiserschmarren 7/10. It was probably prepared. However, it tasted good. The orange on the Kaiserschmarren probably spilled on it. We can't think of any other explanation for its appearance.

Unfortunately, you only find out when you open the memory card (on the first page, which you normally skip over) that card payments aren't possible for technical reasons. The machine is 600 meters away, and otherwise there's no information. To me, it's more systematic to go to the trouble of printing out such a notice for dozens of cards instead of repairing the device.

Unfortunately, the food at Dorfbrunnen didn't impress us at all. The potato rösti with mushrooms we ordered was extremely thin and so crispy that it was more reminiscent of chips – it had little in common with a classic rösti. It was topped with cheese and a few mushrooms, and the overall taste was disappointing. My partner had fried potatoes with Leberkäse (meatloaf) and egg. Here, too, the potatoes were very greasy and too crispy, and the Leberkäse (meatloaf) seemed to have been reheated several times and was accordingly dry with a hard crust. On the positive side, we should mention the beer selection (Tegernseer) and the pleasant atmosphere in the beer garden. The pancake soup as a starter was okay, but could have used a lot more seasoning. Salt and pepper at the table would have helped. The service was overall okay, but not particularly attentive. Perhaps we were simply unlucky with our choice of dishes, as the reviews and photos online seem much better. However, we wouldn't recommend either of our dishes.

Four of us ate here and were guided by the good reviews – unfortunately, a big mistake. Upon arrival, we noticed that many guests were waiting outside. The food took a very long time to arrive and wasn't served at the same time, which was also noticeable at other tables. The quality of the food was catastrophic: • The potato pancakes with mushrooms were nothing but burnt. • The fried potatoes tasted like a convenience store product and had obviously never seen a pan. • The fried egg was completely burnt and dry, as was the meatloaf. We had to return one dish – absolutely inedible. We received similar feedback from other guests. Summary: Inedible food, long waits, and quite expensive. Apparently, they can't handle the rush. It's a real shame that we had to go through this experience.

We ate there twice in four days ;) The portions are huge (2 large schnitzels) and super delicious: Schnitzel, Käsespätzle, roast pork with dark beer sauce, and Kaiserschmarrn. Fast service despite the restaurant being packed. Many other restaurants require a table reservation, but they still make it possible. Keep up the good work!

We were there once and ordered dessert and hot drinks. They brought the drinks right away and only 12 minutes later the dessert, when everything had cooled down, besides, we asked when the dessert would be and the waiter promised - yes, it is ready any minute, in the end we waited and everything cooled down. When we asked to just heat it up (not make new ones) they started telling us that they would not do this and that we had to immediately indicate that they would bring it together. We go to cafes/restaurants quite often - and this is the first time (regarding hot drinks), but oh well, in the end after the "lecture" they made us new drinks. We liked the dessert, but the drinks are not worth the money at all, the tea was like from Lidl for 1.5 euros. Well, ok. We came a second time and ordered meat on the bone. Everything was perfect here, there was a different waiter, everything was clear - as it should be. And the food was delicious. I'm taking off a point only for the "misunderstanding". In general, you can go. 👌

Charged €2 for an empty plate? That's unacceptable...

The food tastes really good! The prices for the dishes are satisfactory for this location (given that it's a tourist destination). Unfortunately, the service is rather lacking. They only respond when glasses are empty and only clear away ready-to-use plates upon request. There's room for improvement there.

We had a reservation and received a friendly welcome. Since it wasn't busy yet, we were able to order promptly. That quickly changed, and it became more of a mass-processing experience. The couple next to us couldn't order their drinks until we were almost finished, even though they arrived shortly after us. Empty glasses were ignored, even though three servers repeatedly walked through. The children's food arrived after ours, and it probably wouldn't have arrived at all if we hadn't asked for it. We had the Gröstl, which I actually really like, but it was the first Gröstl I've ever had without meat. It was more like bridal potatoes with bacon.

My sisters and I were there for the first time on vacation. We found this restaurant by mistake, but I must say that from the first night to the last, we always dined there. It's a beautiful place and the waiters were not only very kind but also made us feel at ease. I work in the industry and I observed carefully and I can assure you that they pay attention to everyone equally... Given the high rating of the restaurant, we expected much more. Large portions, but no vegetables, very below average taste. Oversalted fish fingers. Baked potatoes with schnitzel - coated in paprika - why??

The food served its purpose and was filling, but the taste wasn't particularly convincing. The dishes seemed rather bland overall, some of them even oversalted or slightly burnt. The farmer's bread was very reminiscent of standard mixed bread from the supermarket and didn't seem particularly special.

The service and ambiance were good, but the potatoes on my schnitzel with fried potatoes were very disappointing. They weren't crispy or browned at all. Perhaps it was due to the crowds, but nonetheless, my expectations weren't met.

Unfortunately, the homemade Obatzer cheese was from a bucket... from the "Alpenhein" company. Poor-quality frozen schnitzel from the fryer, mushrooms for the cream sauce from a jar or can. Horrible.

The price-performance ratio is absolutely fine, the home-style cooking is good, and the portions are large. The staff is very friendly.

We were there on vacation, and we stopped here at the end of the day. The food is huge, you should definitely know what to expect beforehand, otherwise you'll quickly overestimate yourself. The taste is very good.

A lovely inn, as the name suggests, by the village fountain. We sat outside, so I can only comment on the beer garden, and it was very nice. The service was very pleasant and friendly. The food was tasty, but I ordered Gröstl (a kind of German dish), and anyone who knows what it's like expects crispy baked fried potatoes with bacon, preferably from a cast iron pan. I was disappointed, because the fried potatoes were soft and anything but crispy. I have no idea what the kitchen did. Just reheated them? Definitely not Gröstl. A shame!
