This restaurant definitely gets 5 stars from me. The atmosphere is very cozy and quaint, the service is truly super friendly, and the food is amazing! Simply a 5 out of 5! If you're in Wernigerode, you should eat here! We'll be back! Thank you for everything!

Today we ate at the "Steingrube" restaurant in Wernigerode. The food was truly delicious; I'd say they don't rely on convenience foods, which I really appreciate. It took quite a while for our visit today, which was probably due to a lack of staff. Nevertheless, the nice lady made a great effort and didn't let her stress show. The restaurant is really beautifully decorated. See photos. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely stop by again.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. We were lucky and managed to get a table for two. We had the stuffed schnitzel. It was truly delicious and highly recommended. The waitress was very friendly, and the ambiance was rustic and lovely.

We highly recommend this restaurant. The ambiance is rustic, just like grandma's or mom's used to make, but it's perfectly fitting and tastes just like it used to. We enjoyed two typical Harz dishes there today. We loved not only the food, but also the very friendly and attentive hostess! We highly recommend the Steingrube.

A lovely "old" restaurant... you get the feeling that time has stood still here. Simply beautiful, rustic, and cozy. The menu features unique dishes that you won't find anywhere else. Nothing "exclusive," but very tasty, home-style dishes... just like grandma used to make. And at reasonable prices. The husband cooks, and the wife serves with joy and dedication. So, if you're ever in the area, head straight to the Grube. I'd love to come back!

Fantastic food. We visited several restaurants in Wernigerode, but we liked the Steingrube restaurant the best. Super delicious food and very warm and attentive service. If you like home-cooked meals, you'll get your money's worth here. We also liked the selection of regional specialties. We'll be happy to come back on our next visit!

We went out to eat with a large group today. The service was excellent. The food was delicious, but the portions were a bit too small for my taste. As I said, that's a personal preference. We have no complaints and highly recommend it. Cash only!

We were there for dinner and were very pleased with the friendly lady who served us! The children were given gummy bears, and the solyanka was hot and delicious.

Service, value for money, food and drinks were all perfect. At times the noise level increases due to other visitors but all in all we can really recommend it. Good to know that payment is only possible in cash.

We were in Wernigerode for a day visit and went for dinner because of the good reviews. We weren't disappointed. Small, quaint restaurant, very nice service, very tasty food, no tourist rip-offs. The roast venison almost fell apart on the fork, it was so tender. And Dampfkessel is delicious home cooking with onions, bacon, potatoes and Harz cheese. If you come without a reservation, you should arrive early.

In theory it's open until 10pm but I arrived at 8h30 and they were kicking people out already and told me the kitchen was closed

We went to this restaurant with our daughter today and it was simply first class! The young waiter was very polite and courteous and the ambience was typically old German and rustic and inviting. Price-performance ratio is absolutely justified and significantly cheaper than many other German restaurants in this area. We both had roast venison with potato dumplings and juicy red cabbage and our daughter had potato pancakes with sugar glaze and lovely applesauce. It was really great all around and we will definitely come back, the empty plates speak for themselves😂🙈

The young man served us very nicely and friendly. The food and drink is super tasty and justified for the price. We didn't have to wait long for food and drinks! We immediately felt at home and would love to come back for dinner when we are back in Wernigerode!

Unfortunately, the kitchen was closed when we were there. But the cake we treated ourselves to was delicious. Otherwise, a small, cozy atmosphere with friendly service. 👍

The dumplings were sour and old. They tasted very bad. It might have been poisonous. There was a broken toilet brush and cobwebs in the toilet.

Since I can't actually visit the restaurant (I only contacted the restaurant by phone), I can't rate either the food or the ambiance, so I'll only comment on the service. In short, the aforementioned service staff simply ended the conversation. For this reason, I'm foregoing a visit.

It was our first time here and the German cuisine was simply wonderful.

There's a sign on the door saying it's open Sunday from 5 p.m. I went to get a drink somewhere else before that time, and then went back after 5 p.m. The staff were sitting in the bar with their lights on and cigarettes lit. We tried to go in, but the door was locked. They heard us, turned off the lights, and ignored us. Thanks for nothing!

This quaint restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The super nice boss welcomed us warmly and looked after us perfectly. We had the meat from the pyre (pork schnitzel filled with Harz cheese, mustard, onions and pickles) and ox cheeks with red cabbage. Everything was very, very tasty and the ox cheeks with red cabbage in particular were “like grandma’s” which of course has to be seen as the highest possible compliment to the chef🥰 We would like to thank you very much and we will visit you again when we are in Wernigerode again.

Good and cheap restaurant that did not disappoint our expectations. We were invited, we had never been there before. I really liked the typical German schnitzel with potatoes, as well as the beer. The environment is very welcoming, as are the waiters. I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend time in company with good food

We were guests at the “Steingrube” for the first time and were welcomed and served as if we had been old friends of the house for a long time. Thanks for that, that's not the case everywhere. The food is good German cuisine, very rich and tasty. We will definitely come back.

Was fine Schnitzel with fried potatoes and mushrooms Fried potatoes were a bit blonde, mushrooms could have used a little sauce, 2 schnitzels came out of the pan Roast venison with red cabbage and dumplings Venison could have stayed in the pot for a while, it was a bit tough, sauce, red cabbage and dumplings were absolutely ok Food tasted good and was plentiful. Only the starter salad was left over. Service was quick and friendly.

The food was absolutely not a hit. The mustard was still visible on the roulade. So it wasn't in the pan long enough. The color wasn't that great either. It was more like a white sausage. The roast venison was tough and the sauerbraten was weak. The service is friendly but also requires a lot of communication. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Everything is just right at this restaurant! The quality of the food, the ambience, the staff, everything was great!! Anyone who loves down-to-earth German cuisine will get their money's worth here! The ox cheeks were as tender as butter, the sauce was delicious and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly seasoned and cooked! The brawn was also excellent in taste and consistency and the fried potatoes were crispy with very spicy remoulade! The prices are appropriate for the quality and quantity! The next time you are on holiday here, a visit again is not just a must

The food is simple, mainly consisting of frozen goods and industrial products. The side salad is basically inedible. The bread comes pre-cut from the plastic bag. The stuffed schnitzel is bland and tastes like thawed goods. With the Harzer Platter, cheese, cucumber and onions from the supermarket are presented on a plate. The lard is pure white and has no taste. Service and ambience top. The drinks are well chilled. But the food can go😂

The food here is really very good and the service is extremely friendly. We sat in the small beer garden in front of the door and really enjoyed our evening here. Please note, however, that card payments are not possible.

On the way back from the castle we searched on Google for a restaurant away from the trouble. The Steingrube restaurant caught our eye. So we went straight from the castle to the restaurant. When we arrived on site, we first had to look for an EC machine because the restaurant only accepts cash. After looking at the menu, it quickly became clear what my husband wanted: Roast venison. It became a little more difficult for me because unfortunately I don't like a lot of things. But then, actually on the children's menu, I found my food. Fried cake with applesauce. When I ordered I asked if these were also available for adults. It wasn't a problem, they even asked how much more it should be. Here in Münsterland, potato pancakes are flat and often small. When I received my order I was very amazed. There were five large, thick potato pancakes on the plate. They were prepared differently than I know from ours. But they were delicious and freshly prepared. No frozen goods! We felt completely comfortable in the restaurant. The furnishings are something different and the cuisine is incredibly delicious. We would eat there again at any time. Away from the trouble, where you can have a chat.

We had 3 different dishes, all 3 of which were very tasty. The service is very friendly and “on point”. The cuisine is good, home-style, but with a certain twist. Vegetarians don't get their money's worth. The atmosphere is cozy/quaint. Highly recommended!
